Theory: Why aren't there any mutant allies in this show yet?

With the exception of possibly Pigeon Pete who for some reason completely disappeared after episode 10, as well as the classic Leatherhead, the Turtles have not had any mutant allies in this show. Virtually every mutant has become their enemy in this series.

The Turtles used to have a ton of mutant allies like Mondo Gecko, Man Ray, Merdude, The Punk Frogs, Mona Lisa, etc.

This show has Leatherhead, but with him lost in Dimension X there isn't much to say. Pigeon Pete never returned either.

Why do you think they aren't giving the Turtles any mutant friends?

Maybe because they're emphasizing the instability of the mutagen, and a mutant ally that can actually fight is going to be a surprise to the children.

Like Miru said, maybe the writers are focusing more on the negative side of mutation through Mutagen. In another thread, somewhere, I brought up the idea that a proper mutation needed a balance of different conditions that ended with a "healthy" mutation. Maybe those conditions are rarer to come by in this new series. I would love to see more ally mutants team up with the turtles, and Pigeon Pete should return, if only as an informant.

Meh, give it some time. If there's still nothing by season 3, and definitely nothing by season 4, then yeah it would be unusual.

I mean we're still getting introduced to Casey Jones, so... just give it some time. :P

i wonder if slash will stay as an ally. and i hadnt heard that about newtralizer, but i could see it. right now hes kinda just on his own though.

i think theyll start to. we've almost got every mutant that was said to be added, with the exception of the owl. so there may be another suprise one or two, but then i think the old ones will come back.

from the intro, spiderbytes, snakeweed, newtralizer and rat king are all going to be in this season at some point

He might still hold a grudge against the Turtles since he probably still blames them for his mutation.

It'd be way too far-fetched and contrived to have him suddenly make a heel-face turn and be an ally especially if it'll happen upon his second appearance.

I think it would be cool if he came back in the newest episode since it's Raph centric, and I think Vic would have beef with him since he's now a mutant spider. It would really be cool.

Well actually, the problem is much bigger than you think - there are just too many mutants introduced in a span of one seasons and a few episodes of the second (this counts for other OT characters like Chrome Dome). The OT and Archie Comics actually took their time to gradually and slowly introduce their gallery of mutants. Not to mention that Archie introduced a lot of anthromorphic animals which are not mutants, but rather spirits - or spawns of spirits rather - (like Jagwar) and creatures of other dimensions - sometimes magical and often from Dimension X - (like Wingnut and Screwloose) - although the OT did introduce Slash and numbers of other "extra-dimensional" anthromorphic animals.

Nick, on the other hand, introduce tons of mutants in just, what, three episodes? And then they make them all evil. I understand when they make the mutants hostile at first, but friendly later (like they did with Pigeon Pete - although the turtles only [i]thought]/i] he was hostile - and Leatherhead), but almost no allies? Geez.

No. Infact, there weren't many mutants at all - there were only the turtles and Leatherhead. The "mutant-mania" started with the OT and Archie.

I really want to see Mondo Gecko in this series! I can see him as a good thief; who can get sticked in the walls and roofs and that he could have a heal factor in his mutated body that it fix him a new tail any time he get injured and ampuitated in it
