Just a question, so don't get mad everyone:
If this film is supposed to be more 'serious/darker/realistic' like some folks say, and if Shredder has that many blades on him...then how would/will it be possible for any of the Turtles NOT to get cut/slashed/sliced/wounded with blood (whether on their arms, or legs, or across their face, or across their plastron, etc.)?
And let's be honest, there isn't any way that this film will have blood in it (if people mention stuff like Transformers 3, it's one thing to have 'fluid that you can assume as blood'. It's another to have blood from a 'flesh & blood' character, even in CGI form).
And if the Shredder doesn't somehow cut/wound/slash any of the Turtles with those dozens of humongous blades on him, then doesn't that somehow make him kind of wimpy?

Yeah, I am curious how it will play out. You'll probably see him slashing but they won't show it directly. Leo caught Shredder a few times with his katanas, once on the arm, once across the mask. Great scene showing Shredder grab his arm. Oh, he also caught a piece of the back of Shredder.

Shredder was bladed up in 1990, and 1991. No turtle blood was spilled, and that version was a Japanese ninja master. You think a guy that skilled, weilding a double bladed bo staff would've connected. Right? No blood spilled. What a wimp that dude was.
Then there is the cartoonish atrocity that was SOTO Shredder. Or more specifically, Super Shredder. Guy destroyed wooden beams and killed himself. Didn't even hurt a fly. He was that level wimpy, and idiotic. Actually, he was full on mentally handicap at that point.
What point are you trying to make here? Shredder beat the **** out of the Turtles and would have killed them all if Splinter didnt show up.

I'm using the exact same logic RamboRaph is ... if we don't see blood spilled from a guy called Shredder. Then, doesn't that make him a wimp? You don't see the trolling in his comments? Prefacing it by saying "don't get mad" doesn't immedietly negate his clear intentions. He's admitted he's a troll in regards to this film.

FellowChucker, take a clear look at Shredder in the 1990 film. You can even take a look at him in the GIF 'MastahShredder' has...
Now take a look at the new one, which has about 4 swords/machetes on each hand which extend Extremely Far...and that's amongst a huge assortment of other blades.
There's a world of difference, and yet you are comparing them as if they are the same thing.

And what about the WEAK ASS portrayl of Shredder in SOTO. And the stupid Super Shredder finale? What were your thoughts on that take on the character ...
:)
Both are silly and stupid takes on Shredder. But at least SOTO is a purposely more comedic, less serious, more cartoony as well as 'kid-friendly film'. It never portrayed itself as 'realistic/serious'.
And at least I can enjoy SOTO for other things. Like the Turtles themselves (yes, I still enjoy the Turtles designs in SOTO much better than the new ones. Yes, I get it...you disagree with me. Oh well, we agree to disagree. To each their own).
This new film, on the other hand? It's a film that people keep saying that it's trying to be more realistic/serious/dark/gritty. And yet it still has silly & over the top stuff like the look of this Shredder.
And when a Shredder has multiple blades that are at least a Foot long each (if not more), as well as an Extreme Amount of blades all over...then yes, it's silly & ridiculous that no one would get seriously sliced/cut/wounded during a fight with a thing like that. Especially for a film that is, once again, being lauded as a 'more serious/realistic' take on The Turtles by multiple people. Including you.

1990 TMNT is more serious, gritty, dark, and grounded. Actually more akin in spirit to Nolan's Batman trilogy.
Or the actual comic books with a few flavored bits of Fred Wolf.

I don't think anyone is claiming this is a realistic film.
I think some of the staff working on it claimed something to that extent. Also, it's one of the arguments of the people who defend this movie.
And, also, Shredder'14 design is ridicolous. If he was fighting another robots or exoskeletons, it would have made sense - there would be plenty amount of stuff to slash and rip. But since, I don't think we'll see any dismemberments in a new movie, such design is rather strange choice, to say the least.

Well that's the obvious. I'm comparing based on Hollywood tones for modern comic book FILMS. No need to correct, just keep up.

While I my self don't agree that everything looks horrible... I agree a bit about the EXTREME TO THE MAX statement, he. The whole look appears to have popped up from the 90's comic era when Liefeld and many other comic artists were pushing the style in a rather over the top direction... It just has that over-dressed roided-up aesthetics. I find it both a bit disappointing and amusing.

I think XTREME TO THE MAX is pretty much par for the course at this stage, as far as this movie's concerned.
Designs aside, it was good to see some action - and more importantly, to see the Turtles, with minimal focus on Sachs and Megan Fox (sorry, I just can't call her April)... that's kind of been one of my major beefs with what we've seen thus far, so in that way it's good.
I think that more exposure to the designs could potentially help with some of the shellshock people are experiencing - though I can't imagine ever liking ShredderTron. Or Raph's Clint Eastwood sneer.

At this stage, I've resigned myself to the fact that there are things about this movie I will just never like. I can bitch about Megan Fox and Bay's involvement and Turtle lips til the cows come home - it's not going to change anything. But I'm still hoping against hope that there's going to be some good stuff in there, that they somehow manage to sell the Turtle designs during the movie, that they have the thing that's most important for a Turtle movie to have - heart. I would like to see them pull this off.
Of course, if I dwell on having to sit through scenes with Megan Fox for too long, my attempts at optimism start to wane somewhat.
What I feel could be both this movie's biggest strength or its greatest weakness is, once again, Bay's creative input on the movie. It's already been stated by one of the writers that he's influenced the action in the project. Now while I'm not a Bay fan, it could be fair to say that if you're making a movie, he's the guy that you want to have as your second unit director. He's the dude that you want to have shooting your action scenes, while you're off filming the character and dialogue moments. Or at the very least, he's a guy who you would at least give five minutes to to give his opinion on your action sequences.
My concerns rising from this are twofold - number one, Bay has a preference for "audience enjoyment" moments over quieter but more meaningful beats. The fact that we've got the snow-escape scene in this movie does make me worry that perhaps Bay has retained what he felt to be the best action scene/s from the original script, and then the rest of the movie was structured around salvaging those scenes - that in short, the cart was put before the horse and it was decided that they wanted to shoot the Turtles escaping from a military base, so they sat down and worked out how they could incorporate the military into this movie to make that scene work.
That right there is a big part of my beef with the potential military involvement in this movie - I do have concerns that it's a case of Bay influencing the creative direction based on what he personally enjoys doing in his career and repeating his (admittedly successful) crowd-pleasing formulas, not based on what is best for the story itself.
Issue number two is that due to his preference for style over substance, and his more commercial approach to filmmaking, I worry that we maybe won't get some of the serious character moments that I feel we should be getting. Every Turtles movie has had them - even SoTO (Donnie wanting to know their origins, wishing that they had more of a specific purpose rather than being an accident), or Turtles III (Raph finding more of a calm centre in ancient Japan, Mikey dealing with being in love for the first time).
I absolutely do not believe that commercial filmmaking and depth are mutually exclusive - they can exist in the same world. Look at James Cameron - compare Avatar and Terminator II. Both were hugely successful commercially, heavy on the action and heavy on the special effects. Cameron does have a tendency towards schlocky crowd-pleasing. But one of those films lacked substance, and the other one had more heart to it. (Btw, I don't think I need to point out which one was the good film and which one was the bad one! )
I know that they're doing reshoots on this movie - I'm not sure how much they're reshooting - but my hope is that we don't end up having character moments cut for the sake of trying to just make this a generic crowd-pleaser. As we all know, when you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing noone at all. I think the decision to cast Fox reeks of market focus-grouping and I'm hoping that though they've made some extremely questionable decisions (or in some cases, outright bad ones), they're still going to be able to pull some good scenes out of their hat. The question is whether they can make all these pieces work as a whole, or whether (for me at least) it'll end up being a movie where I only watch certain scenes and then fast-forward the rest.

Holy sh*t. How did I never notice that riot shield before?
I saw one of them carrying one in the first teaser, but never in this picture.
Wow.
Yep, this movie's getting easier to piece together now.

One of them to the far far left walking the opposite direction is what looks like like some sort of bo.

Nah, that's a stun baton.

Just some story.
Possible spoilers, these aren't facts just my best guess from various set photos and reports and the teaser, so everybody try not to have a cow.
Megan Fox, judging from the shots of her on a trampoline, is reporting on fluff pieces but "wants to be taken seriously as a reporter".
At some point she's probably fired based on that box everybody seems to carry their crap in in movies after they're fired. I think she makes it to the subway, where the black ops dudes are shooting guns, Turtles attack, Megan Fox captures shaky cell phone footage and gives it to the news station. They run the story, she's hired back. The Turtles and Splinter probably see the footage on the news, they track her down and confront her(based on the shot of Leo/Mikey/Megan in every single teaser so far).
They bring her, and for some reason Vernon(based on two photos of her and Vernon in the lair by the monitor wall), back to the lair for a talk. Shortly there after Megan is probably following up on leads at what appears to be some kind of facility(photo of her at night on a bike by a chain link fence) that's crawling with black ops dudes.
Later, Raph probably gets pissed and leaves the lair for a while. Eric Sachs attacks the lair(obviously based on that one blurry photo of motion capture shredder and the teasers). Turtles are captured, Splinter is either killed or wounded and left for dead(since he's not with either Raph when he goes to see Megan Fox or with the captured Turtles). The 3 Turtles are brought to some facility before being taken to the snow mountain place(based on set photos of Turtle actors in chains surrounded by black ops dudes). Raph returns home, finds the lair a shambles, finds a dead or wounded Splinter. Raph goes to Megan Fox and Vernon for help in the middle of the day in a crowded New York city street. She gets him the trench coat disguise, Vernon brings a car that Raph can't fit into, so they take a news van.
They go up to the snow mountain place, bust the other 3 out, have the snow sledding scene where Raph reveals he's actually from Kypton(can't help myself).
So that's probably the end of the first act, majority of the second act, and beginning of the third act. Majority of the third act is probably the "holy **** some huge is happening in New York" moments we see in the teasers.
Again, just for clarification, this is my best guess based on teaser footage and set photos.

I think some of your guesses are going to be pretty on the money. Though if the reason that Megan Fox is walking around with Raph's sai is because he loses them in the subway fight and she retrieves them, I am not going to take that well.

I hope the "putting the sai in the boots" thing she does is just a off camera goof around or something because I cannot for the life of me figure out why she'd bother. Especially if she gets him the trench coat disguise.
Wait no. Because based on this photo they're either about to start filming or just finished filming this scene and there they are, right in her goddamn boots for some reason.

That's what I mean - if this Raph's meant to be a lean mean ass-kicking machine (as we can assume based on his muscles and face, they're going for the "he lives and breathes ass-whuppins" approach), I can't understand why Fox would be walking around with his weapons when Raph's standing right there - why not just give them back to him? Why would he be letting her have his weapons - I'd imagine he'd be pretty possessive of them? And it'd make more sense to give them to Raph to tuck under his trenchcoat rather than walking around with them sticking out of her boots - doesn't exactly scream "stealth" to me, y'know?

It is very odd because, from what I can guess, he has them when he goes to see her.

Tucked right into what'll probably be, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, his loincloth.
But then...for some weird reason, she just takes them from him and sticks them in her boots.
Because. Just because. Even though they're clearly small enough that they'd fit under the trench coat she gives him.
So odd.

The only thing that I can think of is maybe he's given them to her for protection? To be fair, it'd probably be hard to draw your sai in that disguise get-up they've got him in... I just get shades of Jennifer Garner's Elektra trying to imagine Fox busting a move with them.

You know what, you're probably right.
Since he doesn't seem to have them in the shot of him backhanding a black ops dude into orbit next to the news van.

So, those two white balls are supposed to be Raph's eye level?
I wonder why he's just standing in the middle of the street like that but later he is wearing his costume.

Is the kid looking at them? Does the trenchcoat Raph have them? No. They are for lighting reference.
