Trailer is awesome.

This film won't be the "Batman Begins" style reboot we were all hoping for before the sale but it will definitely be a big, fun, over the top, blockbuster style, crowd pleasing TMNT movie. Best thing to do is keep an open mind and enjoy it for what it is rather than what you wanted it to be. Seriously, it looks like a lot of fun.

I worry that, the way character design is going, in about 10 years the TMNT will have to be 20 feet tall and covered in spikes, scars and tattoos in order to be considered "badass". It's overkill.

Well, even if the voting counts, and I'm not saying it doesn't, it's not like they weren't going to release the posters and the trailer anyway, even if no one had voted. I'm fairly certain many members here were right on the money when they said the trailer's release would coincide with the release of Transformers 4.

The (faux?) voting is to give the whole thing a bit of a fun edge and to help boost some free advertisements on Twitter (i.e. spam). So it does count for something.

i lost faith that this was EVER about twitter votes - I hate to admit it, but LEO isnt the most popular Turtle (and hes my favorite), RAPH is, and the fact they all released so evenly spaced, minus DON, who they are using to delay the trailer release until they are good and ready - a Tuesday release for this trailer was ALWAYS planned, I have NO doubt about it.

MONSTERMASH confirmed that the renders they are using for the promo material ISNT the official ILM renders found in the film - the posters are ugly to me, which is a shame because they look DAMN good in motion, and those render deserve the spotlight, but then again, they will be.
Sadly the way some feel about the posters is how I feel about the movie models as well. lol Welcome to my world. At least those who like the movie models will be satisfied with them there if not the posters. Ah well.. :P

I don't know if it's possible, but... that trailer made me less excited for the film than I already was. The jokes were awful, Shredder looks like a moron, the voices and dialogue were horrible, and that trailer music made me want to puke.

All in all... ok, from a semi "hater" perspective... I think it will have it's charms enough to be possibly enjoyable as a whole, though don't doubt that most will still come away with the aspect/part they individually don't care for.

I just hope that this style of "realistic" doesn't suddenly make it the standard of what TMNT can only be viewed as believably realistic enough now, that is my only main fear... That a more recognizable design could never be acceptable beyond this point even if also given super realistic motion and textures.

I am just not feeling the looks of these guys. While I never minded tall Turtles, and Raph having his muscle, what we have here, is just way too much. Way too much. You know, when Next Mutation came out, I saw one little commercial for that, and everything inside me screamed, if you want to keep the Turtles in your head as they are, then do not watch this. I'm getting that vibe with this new movie coming out. :( And seriously, I was optimistic about this movie when it came out. I tend to love Michael Bay movies, and I love TMNT, and I thought, Michael Bay, TMNT, match made in heaven. But, then again, he is just the producer, not the actual director. I'm still not liking the faces and they are a bit too big, but I'm going to hang in there to hope that the movie itself has some new things to throw on the table. While I never did see NM, I do know it started the Raph and his bike thing, so even the worst of stuff can spit out some of the best little things.

Voldemort, definitely... but something else too, some old cartoon or comic character who I can't quite think of. I was wracking my brain over it all night. I'm not surprised that as usual Donnie didn't get much of the spotlight... but I do feel quite relieved in the sense that it still could've been so much worse. Put it this way - I was expecting the whole trailer to make me feel the way that I feel about Shreddertron and Fox. But it didn't... so yay.

Not sure how the trailer's being received outside of the 'drome... my other half loathed everything to do with this movie but is now prepared to see it (so another one for the "not as bad as I was expecting" camp)... but the kid sister's not impressed (I won't repeat exactly what she said :lol:). Anyone got any thoughts on how the rest of the world is reacting to it?

I respect your opinion friend but the problem is that it's confusing to try to understand. You're ok'n elements of one film while trashing the current film for using the same elements.

You just confirmed your bias, gritty like the 1990s film?? you mean the movie that has a fight scene where the turtles use musical instruments to attack the foot? Donny's head being bounced off a piano, or dunked in a fish tank only for him to squirt water in a foots soldiers face, or mikey making references to a game show during an intense fight while one of his brothers seem to be on the edge of death?

The tone surely looks more serious than the 1990s film esp. if you compare trailers both have fight scenes, bit of comedy, glimpses of shredder and up toned music.

Action, comedy, brotherhood.. seems to be hitting the basic elements of what the turtles are about. You can have an opinion but please for the love of god just let it make sense. Can't say you love the 90s film for its "grittiness" and ignore all the goofy elements of it, and then crucify this film for its goofiness and ignore the elements that make it gritty.

Feels like you just want a digitally remastered version of the 90s flick. This movie is it's own incarnation so it has to be different.

To me "grit" is about tone. 90s film felt gritty while SOTO and the third film was more slapstick.

90s film had a more serious tone. Splinter captured and held hostage, Raph on the brink of death. Shredder seemingly killed at the end by being crushed to death(murdered by casey).

The trailer shows the same elements to an extent. splinter seemingly mortally wounded, turtles captured and tortured. Leo tossing a foot soldier through a moving subway car.

Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you! You're comparing apples and oranges - the 1990 film was heavily Mirage-based with some lighter elements. This movie has shown me significantly more goof than grit, up to this point (and yes, I am aware I haven't seen the whole film yet - I'm talking about what I have seen thus far).

That was incredible. I got chills so many times through it.

Voices for them are perfect. All of them.

Designs look better than ever. I'm used to the clothing now, but they don't look hideous as all, the lips and noses look fine, and do show a lot of emotion.

GimmeThree, y'all might just have to agree to disagree with me here. Other people have managed to grasp my opinion on the movie with no significant problems. Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you! You're comparing apples and oranges - the 1990 film was heavily Mirage-based with some lighter elements. This movie has shown me significantly more goof than grit, up to this point (and yes, I am aware I haven't seen the whole film yet - I'm talking about what I have seen thus far).

Nowhere have I crucified this movie - I've said I like parts of what I seen... so I'm not sure what part of my stance you're unhappy with?

Seriously guy, I'm the last person you should be getting antsy with - I'm like the most positive non-loving-it person here, and I'm much further over the line towards being positive towards it than I was 24 hours ago. I can say something is silly without hating on it, but dude, just because I'm liking some elements doesn't mean it's gold.

Also, bias, noun: inclination or prejudice for or against one person or group, especially in a way considered to be unfair.

Kind of hard for you to say that I'm prejudiced against the film when, again, I've said that I've liked parts of what I've seen.

Seriously - peace, man. It makes no sense for us to be arguing about this when there are people who've made far harsher condemnations of this film than I. I'm not trying to prove you wrong on your viewpoints here - let's just agree to disagree without rancor.
