View Full Version : Did the backlash cause them to backtrack on aliens Turtles and white Shredder?

Does anyone else think the fandom backlash actually made a difference this time?
The Turtles were clearly planned to be aliens from the beginning, as seen in the original scripts and Bay's comments, where the Turtles were actually from an alien Turtle race. But thankfully that alien angle seems to have been dropped, (or so we hope).
Then we had white Eric Sachs announced to be Shredder, and now all of a sudden we have indication that Sachs isn't Shredder after all, and that Asian Oroku Saki is indeed in the film. White Shredder caused almost as big a backlash as alien Turtles, and it was reversed.
Now obviously stuff like Megan Fox April didn't cause as much an uproar and it was probably too late to recast her role. The only other backlash is against the nostrils and humanoid faces for the Turtles, but the CG was probably too far in production to change it. So do you think fandom backlash made a difference?
If this is the case, its proof internet uproar can sometimes makes a change and cause studio execs to backtrack. Never doubt the power of online message board ranting!

Now, wasn't Kevin Eastman hired as a consultant for the movie? If the studio is starting to have doubts of the production due to some of the fans distaste, doesn't that make Eastman look kind of bad? Like, he really doesn't know what clicks and doesn't click with the fans, of a property he helped create nonetheless?

Yeahhhh....that's not true. At least for me anyway. My problem with the designs isn't the fact that they have nostrils, because that makes sense. My problem is all the unnecessary stuff they put on them, when the simple bandanna, knee and elbow pads would have worked fine, as well as making them so large and bulletproof.
I will admit though, Leo is the best looking Turtle out of the four. If face wise Donnie, Mikey, and Raph looked like Leo, and they got rid of some stuff they had on, I'd be more open to the movie and the designs.

Shredder is and has been whats in the movie Since before they filmed, You think the Fans had a hand is shredder you just try to justify Why you feel for the whole thing I will say this the misdirection they were going for was changed because of fans IE the decided not to keep the new shredder(Japanese actor) a secret, because fans were impatient, and could not wait till the movie released to find out.

Most certainly could not have been done in two month worth of reshoots.

as much as we think studios like to check these boards, my guess is, nobody with any money/creative pull does. and by extension, they will do what they think is 1) in the best interest of the property (assuming they are actually fans, and 2) what will net the most profit (sometimes that means staying true to the property, other times it may mean deviating from it entirely)
sorry 'Cubed, we all have opinions here, but i doubt anyone outside these forums care what we all think.

Bioware went back and added more finalized endings...again did you actually play them or are you just going off what you heard.

Please. No studio in their right mind is going to mislead their potential audience about something that would cause negative feedback and harm the financial return. Sachs was definitely Shredder when they started filming and probably still is at some point in the movie.

Marketing?
I remember back when the initial aliens controversy kicked off I speculated that the whole thing was a publlicity stunt to get people talking about the movie, I even said so on here more than once however it soon became clear it really was their intention.
After that I think even the dumbest person involved in making this would come up with a story that would so blatantly piss fans off. That's just a terrible way to promote a movie which has by their own admission picked up a bad reputation as a disaster waiting to happen.
The sad part is that it's not an outlandish suggestion that they really are that dumb but if they were inclined to do that then why come clean now and not months ago?
Agree. They're on tight budget, ain't nobody got the time and money to waste on re-doing the story and scenes. ;)
It's happened many times in movies before. Do you not think Transformers 2 didn't shoot things multiple times since they were writing the script as they were shooting. This isn't the norm when making a movie but isn't unheard of.
Tell that to Megan Fox and Fichtner himself who have publicaly said more than once that changes were being made and thought up all the time even while they were shooting based on fan response.
Is it really out of the question to suggest that one day someone says "hey y'know how these fans are upset about that Saki guy not being Shredder, how about we add a scene or two were which shows he was a Shredder before do you think we can whip up something like that up for next week or two?"
Is it even more out of the question they later decided to just make Saki the Shredder given they've recast two main roles anyway?

I think it was probably just like this from the start, but fan outcry led them to reveal things now to insure people go see it because we need everything spoiled for us before we go. I def think they were trying to pull a fast one on us for Shredder, but the world couldn't handle it, and that's fine haha because their shouldn't be any secrets with that character.
I think Michael Bay's alien comments were just stupid on his part, it's clear he is in things just for the action and money, not story, even when the story is laid out for them already. Anyone else remember that thing he was on where he was just clearly going to talk about his own work and he got flustered and walked off stage...yeah, dude doesn't even know what he's talking about unless someone is telling him what to say.
After reading that interview with the director it seems like he knows what he is talking about. Maybe they tweaked it a bit based on fan backlash, but they have the turtles FREAKING BULLET PROOF AND BIGGER THAN THE PEOPLE...OBVIOUSLY JUST TO TAKE ON A HUGE SHREDDER SUIT, but aside from that what do the turtles have to fear? it looks like tasers. Plus they are way too overdone and ugly.. Now, I am not against this movie fully, I am going to see it opening weekend for sure. But, no, I really don't they changed much of anything due to fan backlash.. :ohwell:

to add to this sometimes changes happen not even do to any outcry, it could be because they don't like how it transitions from paper to film or location isnt ideal to they rework it

Yep, it most certainly does. The first Spider-Man definitely had to redo a scene, the scene that was originally going to be the helicopter caught in a web spun within the World Trade Center, but then 9/11 came and they took that whole scene out.
So yes, reconstructing certain scenes or storylines in a movie does happen, sometimes it's because an unfortunate event happened, such as 9/11, and actor or another crew member dies during the set, (I'm sure Mockingjay is going to have to get creative now that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is gone) or, like in Waterworld, while filming, directors and creators just didn't like the way the movie was going, so there was a drastic change in the script, while in midshooting. And sadly, this is probably what made Waterworld at the time the most expensive movie in production history.
Look, no matter how you dice this, it's obvious that the studio is definitely on panic mode with the TMNT. If they weren't, they wouldn't have all of a sudden booted out unknown actors that were just fine in their roles as is, and replace them with slightly bigger names. They panicked over something, that's for damn sure. Whose to say that the voice changes was the only thing they panicked on?

I would like to note that bay is notorious for causing misdirection. This was a big deal with Transforms 2, Bay at the beginning of pre production noted how he would put out false information to get people talking.
In the case of the Turtles being alien, I think that statement was HEAVILY taken out of context. The mutegen is of alien origin, but if the blue door script was the real one before any of this then I'm completely wrong.
In any case, theres to many contradicting statements from people on this film. Is Fincher telling the truth? Or is is the producer? Once we see the movie many of these weird pieces may fit into place. Sachs is an original character, and I'm just as confused about who he is when they first announced him.

Just gets me to thinking though...
If Blue Door was legit, who leaked it. Nondisclosure contracts and all, I'm sure we'd never know, but makes me wonder if someone - the one sane person - saw it and went "oh hell no." Or could it have been a fake leak? To, as you say, get people talking. (If that were the case though I find that trolling-like tactic rather distasteful.)

I remember when that thing came out. I don't think anyone knew who leaked it, but it all seemed like a genuine script. I don't think someone would've made a fake code name for a fake script.
EDIT: It's dated a couple months before Bay said the alien thing, and seems to be a similar style to other Appelbaum & Nemec writing.

Dude, yes it is, some entire films shoot in two or three months. Not big ones, usually, but it happens and is possible. Even without that kind of compressed time-frame, the fact remains that some movies are constantly being reworked all the way up until the last minute. Wanna give yourself an ulcer? Read about how they slapped together "Alien 3". That movie not only had no script before they started filming it, but the studio themselves were moving pieces around and ordering re-shoots, changing the story and other stuff, months after the film was ostensibly in the can and "finished". Even the people who worked on the damn thing didn't recognize it when they saw the final product.
In this case, is it unlikely? Probably. Impossible? Nope, not at all. To swap Shredder for Sachs in the storyline, for example, could actually be fairly easy depending on the kind of footage they had to work with. Creative editing, less than a weekend's worth of new footage, and some new dialogue, and you've got a whole new movie. Do I think that's what they did? I don't know. Could I see them doing it? Well, yeah, people do it all the time. I think it's kind of a stretch, but who knows?

It was actually great to watch the doco for Alien 3 and see how screwed the whole production process was, how much studio interference hampered the whole process and how Fincher basically got screwed the entire way through the project. Not to mention all of the work that Geiger put into creature designs that never got used... and some of the early script ideas were Blue Door level terrible. The entire production was just a total clusterf*ck.

So they spend a whole year to write the script after being guided by Kevin, then after they finish the script they started filming something that took several months, to just go and rewrite the script again on the fly, and rework a major plot point ? Is it possible yes but highly highly unlikely, they could not accurately film all the new actors scenes in two month plus there is way more evidence that it's been this way the whole time likely before they even started filming that they have had this story set,

Sorry dude. I just don't agree. I think the studio was getting worried and forced some changes, and more than likely due to the huge backlash to some of the stuff. It's happened and is more than likely happening again.
Please, tell me, why did they change out the voice actors for Leo and Splinter!
And the whole year and a half work worth of the script thing you just babbled on about. Edgar Write has apparently been working on the Ant Man script for 6 years, when Marvel had had enough and they went their separate ways.

Yeah, I don't know for sure what they did do but it's nothing's a stretch. They were under the gun and they've obviously been very nervous about the buzz since the beginning.
To say nothing of the many movies that go through years of script re-writes, all the physical work, only to have lead actors switched out after filming started (Eric Stoltz for Michael J. Fox in "Back to the Future," for example), the entire story re-written as they were filming and the entire scene sequence rearranged by the studio in post (the aforementioned "Alien 3"), or entire characters and storylines chopped off literally at the last minute and the ending sequence moved to the middle of the movie for no apparent reason ("Superman IV"... but don't watch that).
There is literally no amount of work they can put in that can't be undone on a random whim by the studio or the producers, no matter at what stage of production they're at. We don't know what they did do, but they could have literally done anything. Nothing at all is as unlikely as some people may think.

But There is more evidence to Support The fact that its always been this Way
1. When discussing the shredder Fichtner was and is Very cryptic about what he says when discussing the whole thing
2. Kevin constantly saying that Shredder is not what People thought it was(Fichtner ETC)
3. they Only had two week of reshoots
4. they had already finished filming by the time any if not most of this would even be Plausible
5. There has not been any major news about recasting story changes from any of the sources involved in the movie which would more then likely happen at some point
6. reshoot were only For megan Fox based on her pregnancy
The only evidence to support that it was Change is that You guys didn't see it coming i thought and think its stupid that they did what they did
People had been Say something like this would happen for ages and now that it has there has to be this terrible thing the cause them to do this instead of them Planning this from the beginning

if this was the case IN a mjor extent then the shot of leo fllipping would look different and he doesn;t same with the shot of mikey taking off his mask Its still the same if the"retooled" and "fixed" everything then those shot what have been reworked and fixed and they haven't Which TO me say that they had an idea of how they wanted them to look and they were just working at making them look that way notive the only shots the really look off are all the "cartoon' Promotional material/concept art, everything else is the other way how it looks in the movie, Minor changes are likely, IE color lighting some textures But totally reworking the face and changing the structure is not likely

Hypothetically speaking, they probably wouldn't need to do a ton of work if Shredder WAS Sachs and now isn't, though. With the CGI model already mostly done, as well as all the scenes of the movie that would have little or no reference to him whatsoever, all they'd have to do is shoot a few scenes with a guy playing "Saki" out of the armor, re-record some lines of dialog, and change a few lines of the script. Move a couple scenes around, dub a few lines, and there ya go.
I'm not saying they did do that, because we won't know until someone decides to do a "real" behind-the-scenes of the movie one day. I'm saying they could have done it, and easily, without changing much of the work they already had done and finished. And we wouldn't even know until someone deigned to say something about it, because it wouldn't take very long or be a ton of work. Just to play devil's advocate, the Shredder CGI model was already done for the most part; shooting the appropriate scenes of another guy NOT wearing the suit could take a weekend.
I just think it would be funny if they did do it, because that would pretty much be the ultimate sign that this thing had no real direction from the beginning and that the people making it weren't really sure what they were doing. One day we'll know.

They would need to red do any Scene were Sachs is referred to as Shredder they need to add scenes where Fichtner Refers to Oroku as shredder and all scene were he develops the armor for him, and Character building scene would need to be separated One for Eric one for Oroku, add any and all Scene with new Actor as oroku Re-film any scene film with Eric and replace with new actor and,
I just seriously doubt that. Maybe had they not Taken a full year for rewrite and actually finding a direction with Kevins help and having him "guide" them Into the write direction. Then yea it could be possible but At that point its more likely they had a Set direction they were going for at that point.

But There is more evidence to Support The fact that its always been this Way
Really?
1. When discussing the shredder Fichtner was and is Very cryptic about what he says when discussing the whole thing
He was never cryptic. He was clear in many interviews that he plays a character called Eric Sachs, fascinated with armor who goes through some changes and becomes the Shredder and stated that anyone can be Shredder if they put on the armor.
He obviously didn't want to say how the character became the Shredder but he was never cryptic on talking about how he was the Shredder. Either he was lying or telling the truth as he understood it at the time.
2. Kevin constantly saying that Shredder is not what People thought it was(Fichtner ETC)
I've always interpreted that to mean that Shredder wouldn't suck like fans felt he would. I think the jury is still out regardless of whether it's Sachs or Saki in the armor.
3. they Only had two week of reshoots
Two weeks of re-shoots after the production had wrapped.
For a while I used to do extra work on films and tv. I remember one instance shooting a TV show were the actress just couldn't deliver her lines and moaned about how the lines didn't make any sense and her character would never do and say the things in the script. Eventually she plowed on and completed the scene. A few weeks later I was called in to do the scene again but with altered dialog which obviously sat with the actress better.
Working on a crowd scene in a movie we were called in five times in total to shoot a scene with different dialog and even a cast member change.
The actors on this movie have even said that they though of some great things to change and add while shooting so they must have scheduled them in.
4. they had already finished filming by the time any if not most of this would even be Plausible
See above.
5. There has not been any major news about recasting story changes from any of the sources involved in the movie which would more then likely happen at some point
Except there has been. We know two members have been recast and the actors have even said that changes were being while shooting.
6. reshoot were only For megan Fox based on her pregnancy
We don't know for a fact but changes didn't need to happen during the re-shoots anyway.
The only evidence to support that it was Change is that You guys didn't see it coming i thought and think its stupid that they did what they did
Didn't see it coming. I think many hoped against hope there was still a chance we'd get a more faithful version of Shredder despite what Fichtner was saying but hope faded with each interview.
If indeed they planned it this way all along it's not that didn't see it coming it's that we lied to.
People had been Say something like this would happen for ages and now that it has there has to be this terrible thing the cause them to do this instead of them Planning this from the beginning

1. When discussing the shredder Fichtner was and is Very cryptic about what he says when discussing the whole thing
nah dude, even you know fichtner came right out and said he was shredder many times..there was no dancing around it..and even then most "big name actors" are still bound by contracts look at harrison ford and star wars
2. Kevin constantly saying that Shredder is not what People thought it was(Fichtner ETC)
Kevin never officially said Shredder wouldn't be right, just that Shredder would be good
3. they Only had two week of reshoots
you would be surprised what you can do in 2 weeks, many examples have been given not only from me but others as well who have worked on TV and film..sure to you it isnt the same but in reality it is..the only difference is the dollor sign attached at the end
4. they had already finished filming by the time any if not most of this would even be Plausible
studios go back and reshoot all the time even things have wrapped..sometimes for the smallest reasons, somethings for huge reasons..sometimes because a line has flubbed it happens..and movie is never truly done being worked on until the home release
Leo656 didnt even mention Superman 2, a movie where a director was let go half way and they guy a new guy to completely change everything
5. There has not been any major news about recasting story changes from any of the sources involved in the movie which would more then likely happen at some point
Leonardo and Splinter? plus i wouldn't be surprised if anyone outside this board even caught on that its not fitchner as shredder anymore
6. reshoot were only For megan Fox based on her pregnancy
where was this stated, and if it was only for Fox why did we see so many instagram pics of the guys putting the mo cap suits again more than once?
Long post short..it happens, it has happened, it will happen, TMNT is not more special than any other movie..it can and probably most likely did happen
The more I read/see/hear about the movie business, the more it just seems like a giant clusterf*ck where good movies only kind of happen by accident. It all just seems so chaotic and disorganized, even before you factor in the sh*tload of drugs everyone's on.
it kind of is from my own experience ive worked on movies where i get emailed one script 2 to 3 weeks earlier and day of shoot i have to relearn and entire new set up
Edit: Just to add another movie that changed Direction mid way..Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1996 was originally going to be shot a certain way. closer to the show with visorless helmets, certain characters being completely different and played by different actors..they filmed a good chunk of the movie..only to scrap everything and go in a new direction with a bigger budget..ivan ooze gain his ooze monsters..the rangers gained their fully armored suits and Zordon and dulcea were recast..the command center was rebuilt without the use of christmas tree lights

Really?
Yes
He was never cryptic. He was clear in many interviews that he plays a character called Eric Sachs, fascinated with armor who goes through some changes and becomes the Shredder and stated that anyone can be Shredder if they put on the armor. Yes he was All the stuff about anyone can where the suit and that he goes throught changes, Im betting He isn;t the "real" shredder but i one point in time steels or barrows or is allowed to use the Suit to capture the turtles For his own reasons, And everything he has ever said Screams "im only saying what the production is telling me to" IE they had this whole thing planned, for a very long time
He obviously didn't want to say how the character became the Shredder but he was never cryptic on talking about how he was the Shredder. Either he was lying or telling the truth as he understood it at the time.
We now he was/is "the shredder" at some point in time with in the movie, I still figured with everything he said that Some point he would "become Shredder" "anyone who puts on the suit becomes shredder"
Still screams " im only telling you what they want me to tell you" IE they have had this all planned from the beginning
I've always interpreted that to mean that Shredder wouldn't suck like fans felt he would. I think the jury is still out regardless of whether it's Sachs or Saki in the armor.
But you seem to wrongly interpret what he says all the time Unless he out right tells you exactly what he means you take it your own twisted way.
Im still betting he will have the armor at one point in time in the movie But the finall battle with shredder and loads of Oroku saki Are going to be underlying throught out the movie. As always Sach will likely be Saki's lacky
Two weeks of re-shoots after the production had wrapped.Production just wrapped you mean Principle photography?
For a while I used to do extra work on films and tv. I remember one instance shooting a TV show were the actress just couldn't deliver her lines and moaned about how the lines didn't make any sense and her character would never do and say the things in the script. The actors on this movie have even said that they though of some great things to change and add while shooting so they must have scheduled them in.
Changing minor lines of Dialog Isn't the same as PLot changing addition. Addin A whole new Character, Hiring a Whole new Actor, Filming all the new scenes Stunt work, Act,
See above.Again Dialog isn't the same as A complete Over haul of story elements
Except there has been. We know two members have been recast and the actors have even said that changes were being while shooting.
Both Were voice work which is save for post production to alter Voice which you may have to rerecord anyway, and changing thew actor isn't the same and don't you think that is any "new" actor were to have been hire they would have also made the list along with tony and Knoxville?
We don't know for a fact but changes didn't need to happen during the re-shoots anyway. And why do you really thing they change So much During these reshoots? Only evidence is that a new Character Was revealed, and Of course you think the production has no IDea what its doing so they there for Could not have had this Planned the whole time
Didn't see it coming. I think many hoped against hope there was still a chance we'd get a more faithful version of Shredder despite what Fichtner was saying but hope faded with each interview.I Said COuntless time it was Possible but every One kept "saying no it wasn't, Fichtner was Signed on for three movies he's the shredder Deal with it" And you No what Just one more thing I was right about. People swore Up and Down there was no possible was Oroku Saki was in the movie, that Shredder was japanese, and Eric was just a lacky. Seriously It just funny seeing you guys now swearing Oh they must have Shoe horned it in. All my complaining was justified, hes not Asain. And its funny That so many people Are so Angry that EVerything the assumed was correct wasn't. Proof that Just waiting and watching the movie Might just possibly surprise you. But nope movie terrible and it always will be.
If indeed they planned it this way all along it's not that didn't see it coming it's that we lied to. Fooled More like it. You can Act like this is a huge Betrayal because you dont want to admit you were wrong but you never will.

Im not Saying its fact. Im just saying In the interview it Sounds Vague Enough And open ended That knowing now that They do have Oroku saki, and that he is shredder, that maybe at one point in time Eric has access to the armor and "becomes" shredder
Really and the Only Evidence you have is that Now we know that Oroku saki is in the movie and that he is Shredder, and Fithcer Says that he is shredder at some point in the movie. That to me is not strong enough Evidence that They had to have added this Last minute, Which Really is pretty ridiculous.

I have this crazy theory, we all know the foot captures the Turtles right? okay what if when the Turtles were pre mutated, Sachs had something to do with their creation/mutation? remember ''That's what your father and i were trying to do, create heroes" and accident happens and the Turtles and Splinter escape, now years later after April first encounters the Turtles, she happens to know Sachs, and she goes to him for answers, and he finally tells her about the Mutagen and the Turtles and everything, now Sachs is aware of the Turtles, what if he sends the Foot after them to finish what he started or to experiment on them, and inspect how the've grown over the years, and he claims they are his property now, basicaly he captures the Turtles because they were his specimens, so.. how'd i do!

I was thinking part of the same of that, that they're taken hostage because those people are trying to recapture them. Treated like frigging escaped animals.:( That is gonna be sad...
Now if April does goes talking and that's how he comes to locate them, after Leo even threatened her not to say a word, that really sucks of her... Granted we already know she starts telling Whoopie about them, who seems to take her as a crazy person.

I think that something similar might happen to that like he barrows the suit and uses it to capture the turtles to test them for what ever reason(whether its to find out how to create more, get there genes What ever)
I think Eric is the Lacky of Saki, and he is used as Shredder Front man , and Keeps him self hidden as to not draw to much attention to his Clan of Ninja
Eric Used Mercs and joins them with Sakis Ninja and creates a Huge crime syndicate and "task" force to "stop the crime, and control all aspects Government Law and the crime It would be the ultimate Shredder And the whole time Saki is the one in Control of everything

I love that there are lots of people that seem to genuinely think that our little posts here on the forum had the power to make a billion-dollar film company make significant amendments and changes to a multi-million pound production... it's naively sweet.
William Fitcher seemed to think he was playing Shredder.
And Benedict Cumberbatch seemed to think he wasn't playing Khan in the last Trek movie....
Please. No studio in their right mind is going to mislead their potential audience about something that would cause negative feedback and harm the financial return. Sachs was definitely Shredder when they started filming and probably still is at some point in the movie.
Ha ha. Not a Star Trek fan eh? JJ Abrams did this MASSIVELY with "Star Trek Into Darkness". Even when directly asked if Cumberbatch was playing Khan, everyone had to say "no, he is playing John Harrison" - it was an attempt to keep the 'surprise' plotpoint a secret.
Misinformation and misdirection is just another tool of marketing these days. Bay has done it himself, of course, with the TF films - often suggesting characters are going to appear who aren't, or we won't see certain things (and then we do)...
I am very surprised - but probably shouldn't be - that when it's 'bad' news we hear everyone takes it as gospel truth, but when it's potentially good/exciting news, everyone is very sceptical/doubting.
What happened to optimism, eh?
I'm getting really hyped for this movie! i'm interested to see what happens with Sachs and The Turtles.

I don't think it's accurate to compare the Khan/Cumberbatch situation to the Shredder/Fichtner situation.
The Fichtner situation is different in that leading people to believe he was playing Shredder would (and did) cause a huge negative backlash based on the race change. Why would you even want people to believe that if it was never the case? What twist are they hiding by saying Saki is Shredder and Sachs isn't? Producers are trying to lie about it now so the twist of Sachs becoming Shredder in this movie will be a surprise (even though it won't be).
Where was the negative backlash when they announced he was playing John Harrison? No one believed he wasnt Khan but revealing that didnt turn people off from the movie like Fichtner being Shredder did. There was plenty after the fact because there really was no reason to keep his identity a secret.

Let's not kid ourselves about the backlash not having an effect in the aliens situation. Production shut down indefinitely about a month after the comments were made to rework the script.
As for the Oroku Saki or Eric Sachs as the Shredder, let's not forget that Oroku Saki wasn't the Shredder in the Blue Door script either, and we're seeing more and more of that script make the film. (Bulletproof shells, and super strength). I think there's a very good chance that Sachs was originally meant to be the Shredder. He still may be the Shredder for most of the film despite the news that Oroku Saki is in the film.

To be fair, it's cool that some of people's opinions have made a difference along the way. At least they sort of listen.
But the flip side is... do they really need to be hand-held through some of this stuff? Aren't they the professionals? They're supposed to know the audience before getting backed into a corner where they have to make fourth-quarter changes, whether it's just the faces or more than that.

The fact That you people Really Believe you Actually made any difference at all IS Hilarious. What ever helps you sleep at night and if it really make you feel better about the movie Believing that then by all means. But really its kind of a ridiculous Notion. lol

I seriously Doubt the "changes" are because of fans. Being reworked to reach a goal is more likely. Cuz lets face it Leo and mikey still look the same in those shots which mean they used those shots because the animation was finally Finished. If they really "reworked" the turtles looks, then those shots would have changed as well and they haven't.

Try not to take this as a shot, but what's hilarious is, you don't know how movies are made, apparently, yet you insist you know more than people who do. A few people who've actually worked on movies have gone over the same points I have, repeatedly, to state that the kind of thing you say is "impossible" happens ALL the time. So whether anything like that happened on THIS movie isn't entirely the point - the point is, when you say that stuff that is routine in Hollywood couldn't possibly have happened here, well... you're wrong. It absolutely could have, and to at least some degree, did. They were gonna be aliens. Disbelieve all you want. They were aliens until enough people bitched. Anything else they say is a lie.
By the way, you dropped these.

That only Assumptions Where they aliens at one point sure But they had already started in the direction og reworking the script long before Internet outcry. SO again You can assume You made and impact, if it makes you feel better.
Can changes be made yes Is it likely with this movie Just because some people Complain. Heck Mbay is Known for just saying F#$% it And doing what he wants So if this is "his" movie in all his glory, I doubt he would care really, Look at TF4 "fans" hated it trashed it still trash it but facts are they saw it and so did millions more. lol.
With all this new new Like this Japanese folk lore Starting to market, I seriously doubt that was only planned out and changed only months ago thing like that need time.
And i still trust the people i know who work on movie over Biased people on these boards So sorry I dont Conform and jump to conclusion about this movie like some people.
Meh again believe what you want to. we will know in 2.5 weeks

We'll see the movie in 2.5 weeks. We won't know the real deal on what went down behind the scenes until it all comes out in the dirt sheets, brotherrrrrr.
That could be years. But we'll know one day. And people should listen to me. I'm right about everything. I'm so quick I'm even fast asleep, my dude. 8)

lol Hey I wanna say in all seriousness You said you would not be able to see the movie because of funds I happen to have a free ticket via Crush And i think im whilling to let you to have it so that you can see first hand how good the movie is. I was thinking of saving it for someone but if you think that you might actually enjoy the movie, i'd be willing to give you the ticket. If not i'd rather save it for someone who will enjoy the movie

No way bro, no offense but I don't much like taking hand-outs. I appreciate the sentiment. If I go, it'll be on my dime. Work picked up a little, so who knows? I might yet be able to squeeze this and Sin City in if I'm careful. I'll see it on DVD soon enough anyway. I don't have to see this in theaters. I'm pretty sure I'd have liked Spidey, X-Men, and Cap 2 more, and I didn't get to see them in theaters. I feel kinda dirty if I pay for this and not any of those. Could go either way. We'll see.
And he wasn't mocking, I made it quite clear several times that I'm not cash-rich and movies aren't a big priority for me. He was just making conversation based on what had already been spoken of.
The question is not, "How many times will I roll my eyes and 'What the F***?!' during this movie, but how many times?" I already know that. I've seen almost nothing that's to my taste so far, so the final product would honestly take a miracle to win me over. But it might still hold some value, to me, in a "love to hate it" sort of way, as lots of movies do. But I'll never not be disappointed with not getting more stuff I wanted.
I really like "Man of Steel", for example, I'm happy with what I got, I just wish it was completely different in almost every way.

IF it is oh well(not likely) and chances i will enjoy it either way.
And im not Making fun of his fund I was being serious I have one he Said he would likely not see it cuz of his funds But if he "wants" to see it and think he might actually enjoy it I would be willing to Let him have my free ticket heck im going to see it regardless. But i dont want to give it away if its just going to be wasted I would rather give it to someone who is short on fund but wants to see the movie.

Yes they have. I definitely think that the studio/whoever is in charge, was and still is tweaking the final outcome of this movie, and the tweaking is definitely having to do with people not being happy with things (mind you, I said people, and this includes the film makers, they themselves may not be happy with certain looks and scenes). For all we know, they could have had one of those pre-screenings where they can get a gauge on what the audience is liking and not liking. Studios do this all of the time with big budget films.
Lets not jump too far into conclusions there lol

Eh, who knows, he might. For all we know, he might have been one of the consultants on the movie, so he knows exactly whats going down!:P

With the alien thing? Yes, I think it did. With the ''white shredder'' thing...I don't know. It seems like it could go both ways. I think tho...if it was a marketing idea, they shouldn't have fired the fuel.
Like Will saying he was shredder in interviews and what not. It should have been left open to the fans to freak out over and never corrected until the big reveal.
I'm happy the alien thing was changed. I never minded Sachs being Shredder if it was done right and Saki was at least mentioned as an inspiration or something.
Heck, maybe Sachs is a shredder until Saki shows up and says 'oh no you di-in't just try to take my persona' and Sachs is like 'oh snap, I was just joking, here's some awesome armor I upgraded for me..I mean you' and shredders like 'Damn right!'
There, now we have both Shredders, the end.

To be fair Fichtner has said from the beginning that Sachs "becomes" Shredder. So it's possible someone else wears the armor at first and then Sachs, who has been pulling the strings all along, takes over for the climax.
Nothing yet has completely contradicted that.

It seems pretty obvious to me that things were changed in response to backlash. However I haven't noticed these facial changes. Does anyone have a before/after photo of the changes to their faces?
