I want to see how the likes/dislikes compare with the 2014 one. I know a lot of you consider the 1990 sacred, but there must be some dislikes you can think of.

I didn't like how they went into the battle against Shredder not knowing who he was. In this movie, I want Splinter to raise them and train them knowing full well who the Shredder is and that they must stop him

I can only think of one dislike... the fact we don't have a Director's Cut of this movie yet! :o I would love to see all the deleted scenes.

Everything else is good. :)

*The ending with everyone standing around including Footclan members still wearing their mask and no arrests are being made.

*Nobody tells the cops about Shredder being in the garbage truck, you would think regardless on what happened to him they would be like "the man who is responsible for all this crime is in there".

*The Fact that the garbage truck involved with a crime scene is back on the streets collecting garbage like normal.

*When Shredder gets dumped out in SOTO he's got nothing wrong with him associating with falling off a roof, landing hard in the back of the truck and being around garbage for a week or two in the back of a garbage truck in the middle of the summer in New York City heat (dude would be suffering from some infections/pink eye/who knows what)

Even the training at the farmhouse was supposed to be longer, too.

the fights scenes. I know the suits were obstructive and all, but the fights were lame.

and yes, before i get stones thrown my way, i know the Raph vs 1,000 foot was good, as was the Turtles vs Shredder rooftop showdown, but there was alot that was super cheesy...Leo threw his damn blades into the ceiling, and used them to bicycle kick some Foot, until he fell down and was dog piled on - thats some slapstick non-sense.

The bit with Leo didn't really bother me much....now the majority of the fighting in the second one was ridiculous. Combat cold cuts???

I actually enjoyed that part with Leo. I think it matched the tone of the movie. But the difference with this and the second one is that the second one just had too much slapstick (obviously because of parental complaints), but the first one had a nice balance where it would throw in a little slapstick and then get really serious all of a sudden (cue serious music).

To be honest, I enjoyed it as a kid, but now I watch it and just realize, wow, there was little to no actual fight choreography in that one. Kinda takes away from the ninja part and just makes them teenage mutant turtles.

Keno had the best fights in the whole movie.

my experience has been the opposite.

folks all over twitter were bashing this movie when the first trailer came out, and the shots of April were shared. there was even a tweet a few days back where this guy stated that they were aliens - I wish I could share it, but ppl were quick to correct him.

funnily enough, with the Shell Shocked song, and the Extended 'Payoff' trailer, its seemingly become trendy to like this movie, and I think I hate that more than anything else.

liking something or disliking because its trendy, is some stupid hipster bs that proves ppl dont have a brain anymore.

But from what I've seen, there seems to be an underwhelming amount of hate for the new movie as well. And it's usually because it's doesn't necessarily resemble the 90's turtles.

You seem to be a bit moody today... and I don't mean that in any attempt to insult you, just that many have said stuff they enjoy about the 90's movie too and no one has bashed it, so there's no need to derail the thread (with a rather old and unnecessary argument). People are giving their opinions fair and square.

My own opinions, positives: I love the lighting in the movie, gave it a nice gritty feel and brought out the best of the suits. The suits them selves where amazing and the movability the actors and stunt crew had in them impressive. The turtles personalities were pretty spot-on in my opinion and the same goes for many of the human characters, like April and Casey, great casting! They managed to make Shredder really intimidating and cool despite his rather glammy costume, now THAT'S an achievement! The story flows nicely and is a classic.

Negatives: The humor could get a bit cheesy at times and on occasion a bit too packed together. In some of the fight scenes things don't flow so well and you can see foot soldiers kinda "waiting their turn"... The suits have their limitations some times, the lip-movements and expressions are a bit off here and there and they look a bit too rubbery all over (even the shells). And off course the ending is very anti-climatic.

But all in all I find it to be an enjoyable movie and I have strong nostalgic feels towards it, just a part of my childhood I wouldn't want to be without.

Well i didn't really like the Turtles's voices in the first one mainly Donny and Leo, the fight scenes were.. slightly lame, and i didn't like the Slap-stick humor, and that's it,

but otherwise i love the original 1990 movie.

Like:
The heavy reliance on the source material. Limited fighting aside, I think the original still holds up as a very solid adaption of the original Mirage Comics origin. Sure there was limited fighting, but the Foot vs. Raph and then the whole gang in the antique story was pretty lengthy. Sure there were some slap stick elements, but not too many. Remove those and a solid scene would be even better.

Including Casey was a very nice touch, his first interaction with Raph in the park could have been a little more serious, less goofy, but I think it still works.

Dislikes:
I agree with some of the sentiments mentioned before, I'd love to see a Director's cut with the deleted scenes. The movie is a bit short, I think it could have really benefitted from the longer Northhampton section.

It also bugs me that they don't know who the shredder is going in. The shredder is there arch nemesis, their origin should be tied to his. If avenging the death of Master Yoshi wasn't driving Splinter, or a top priority, then I'm not sure what his motivation would be for teaching the turtles the art of ninjitsu. It would have also made them understand who the foot clan were and why they were attacking them. That scene is setup as them just defending themselves, instead of attacking their arch enemies who they know took their master.

Both this and the Secret of the Ooze even more so (and rightfully so to some extent) get a lot of flack for the slapstick and goofiness of them. But I haven't seen anything in the new trailers for the new movie to make me think that this new movie has fixed those (supposed) flaws. From what we've seen (and that won't be verified until we see the actual movie) the Turtles suffer from this goofiness way more in the upcoming film than they did in the first 2 from the 1990s. It's almost like they took that silliness that the original and SOTO had and exaggerated it to a point rivaling the exaggeration of the goofiness of the OT Turtles in Turtles Forever. From the looks of it that Elevator scene alone trumps the "Combat Cold Cuts" in my book.

First off. I came into this movie as a little girl, and my absolute favorite Turtle, and most favorite thing for me at the time, was Raphael. So, the story centering mostly on him is my absolutely most favorite part of the movie.

Second, the way everybody interacted, to me, it was so natural. The way the boys played off of eachother, the banter between April and Casey, the jokes between Mikey and Donnie, the head butting and making up between Leo and Raph. Love it. Basically, I loved the character development we get, and the dialogue with them.

I also loved how the action was so in your face. Mind you, I went from watching a cute, cuddly 1980's cartoon, and then jumped in where Raph is beating the hell out of 6 to 16 Foot Soldiers, Casey Jones is trashing a couple of muggers and some Foot on his own, Leo slashing and drawing blood from Shredder. It was great.

Now, the only thing that I really didn't like, it would be the lack of more of the Turtles on the farm, since that is where I believe Leo, Mikey and Donnie would have been fleshed out even better. Especially Mikey. They just glimpsed of him actually being serious and beating all of his frustrations out on the punching bag. And, I wish they had gotten Mikey's voice right when he yelled out on top of the barn. It sounded like it was Raph.

Most of these are Secret of the Ooze criticisms. Chief Sterns starts rounding up foot clan members at the very end. Just because we don't see them all arrested doesn't mean it isn't implied.

There were a few things I didn't like about this movie:

1) Raphael's attitude. From watching the 1987 cartoon, Raph really didn't have an attitude. He basically had funny humor with some sarcasm.

2) Leonardo didn't have any "jokes." He does have some humor in the 2nd and 3rd ones though.

3) I agreed with some critics in saying the movie was a bit "too dark."

Other than that, I liked the movie and still do to this day...makes me want to order a pizza every time I watch it.

Oh, I know they did, especially the parents bitching that the movie was too violent and serious for their little darlings, which is why we got saddled with the very kiddified SOTO.

The one good thing about this new movie is that they are finally shaking that PG status, and I hope it will stay that way from here on out. But I do expect backlash from parents once again when this is released.

Like others have said, the only things I don't like are that we haven't gotten a Director's Cut, and I'd be curious to see what the Sex Pistols soundtrack version was like.

This movie really didn't miss any beats for me - and like Boston, I far prefer organic SFX over CG. Not saying that one's better than the other - it's just a personal preference for me - I'd rather have a costume that doesn't look 100% realistic than something CG. I like knowing that what I'm looking at is something that I could touch if I were standing right there. CG just really isn't the same for me - I understand that people put thousands of hours into creating CG stuff, but I dunno, it's just what I prefer.

The only thing I dislike, and its always bothered me, is the turtles are so easily beaten by Shredder but Splinter simply turns the table on him and boom...he's defeated (for this movie anyway but you understand).

As a kid I ,and assume most kids, wanted to see the turtles save the day. Even so it makes no sense. The 4 turtles fail miserably but Splinter gets him in one move. I know he's running toward him and Splinter is right on the edge so it works...I mean it doesn't make sense they went this route.

As for CGI, hating the old is most definitely NOT the trend. Its hating the new. Who ever thinks its hating the old are an in an extremely small minority and must be reading kids posts.

Everywhere I see CGI complaints and how much better things used to be with practical effects. Honestly I hate this. Practical effects are still used and if the CGI looks great then there's nothing wrong with it. There's bad and good CGI.

People really need get over the notion that back-in-the-day was better. Its not better or worse. People just like thinking their generation was better. Maybe 15-20 years from now kids today will think 2014 was better. CGI has not ruined anything.

People think they're cool because they defend practical effects. Oh I'm not into CGI, I'm much more sophisticated...whatever.

All I really "Dislike" is that most of the fights could have been a little more serious and a little less slapsticky, but at the time, it was all still super-"serious" compared to the cartoon, which was most people's point of reference. Oh, I also never really liked Splinter as a rat first, it looked pretty damn silly in live-action, but eh.

I really liked the way all the characters were portrayed and interacted with each other, especially during the smaller character moments.

It did a really good job combining the general storyline of Mirage with the tone and humor of the cartoon. The movie is pretty much the way I "See" the characters in my head ever since.
