Now I am confused! Should William Fichtner play Shredder or not?
Because I’ve read that he will not play Shredder (Apparently someone else to play Oroku Saki)
*confused*

Fichtner is not Shredder. And I know who ever plays " Saki " is an unknown actor. But im sure in the after credits it will say who

No one really knows for sure but here is what is known;
William Fichtner was cast in the movie and said by the studio to be playing an iconic villain, they later confirmed he was playing the Shredder. In several interviews Fichtner himself has said he plays a character called Eric Sachs who has a fascination with armor and something happens that makes him The Shredder and in this version anyone can be Shredder.
However the recent trailers showed Sachs talking to a shadowy figure vaguely resembling Oroku Saki from thr current animated series and referring to the armor as "your armor" More recently during press junkets one of the producers stated this Eric Sachs character is not the Shredder or wears the armor and that it is Oroku Saki.
Those who have seen the film say that it is never stated that the shadowy figure is Saki or is it ever made clear it's him in the armor or not.
Some fans speculate that this was always the case and the idea this Eric Sachs character was the Shredder was a lie so it's a suprise for the fans. Others feel that Sachs was supposed to be the Shredder but at they minute they bowed to fan backlash and added a scene to suggest the Shredder was Oroku Saki and Sachs is his second in command.

Initially Fichtner was cast as the Shredder. The actor confirmed it and it was widely reported. There's an argument to be made that this was a red herring, but many promotional photos showed him with the Shredder armour and even wearing a spiked gauntlet. In response, there was some controversy over "white-washing" the role from a Japanese man to a white American.
Somewhat recently they did reshoots, and shortly after it was officially stated that Fichtner wasn't playing the Shredder after all. The theory there is that they quickly shot scenes of an unnamed Japanese man during reshoots and then reworked the movie so that he is the Shredder and not Fichtner.
AFAIK, this hasn't been confirmed either way, though.

Eastman said about a year ago.. " do not believe what you hear about the Shredder, you are in for a pleasant surprise " so pretty sure it was a stunt to get people talking, and it worked beautifully as TMNT was the talk of the web.
The reshoots were for Fox's stunt scenes bc she was Pregnant. I think some people are giving themselves a little to much credit lol

as much as i want to believe this i dont buy it, someone like fox wouldnt be doing her own stunt scenes..and if she was pregnant would have a body double to stand in

I think what happened was a journalist exaggerated and misinterpreted the role just like they did with the origin.
They said the turtles would be alien but little did they know the origins of TMNT is from an alien ooze. Now journalists have been known to omit certain sentences which can mess up the context of the conversation. A lot of the fans over reacted to misinformation without confirming the truth of it. So a buncha peeps just got their panties in a bunch.
Edit: some fans need to get over themselves. No film company would waste millions on re shoots just because they complained on the internet.

As long as he had smaller squinty eyes, and made grunts while fighting, he is Asian. Hopefully in the sequel they refer to him by name.
And I am aware you were being sarcastic.

The alien origin was a key twist in an early draft of the script and Bay himself confirmed that the script was the real deal (http://screenrant.com/ninja-turtles-movie-script-michael-bay/). (Though he also claimed it was before he joined the project, even though the script was dated 2012 and Bay signed on in 2010 (http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/platinum-dunes-steers-turtles-relaunch/), so...)
Fichtner himself said he was playing the Shredder. His exact words were "I play Shredder" (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/William-Fichtner-Confirmed-Play-Shredder-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-38188.html). That's a direct quote. It was widely reported for months, and nobody in the production disputed it until very recently.
Clearly all of this has been changed by now, but all of it was the plan at certain points. Fichtner's interview was from June 2013, and the movie entered production in April of that year, so the movie was well into production when he made that statement. So either it was a red herring or it's something that was changed fairly recently. (And if was a red herring to protect a "surprise", I find it odd that the director just casually dropped that Fichtner wasn't Shredder after all in a random interview a month or so back.)

Darn it, I keep forgetting that part.
It is still hard to believe journalism now a days though. My relatives had their words twisted in interviews. Some journalists are just vile.

Well... that wasn't a very sensible way of describing the eye sockets of your average Asian person, but I don't think he's actually being racist. Don't understand how grunting makes someone an Asian, though. Last time I checked, any human, regardless of his background, can grunt while he fights.

So do I. Which is why I think it was a recent change.
So... did they possibly changed this due to negative backlash?
Obviously, noone could answer that, but still, ever happened something like this to any movie before?

It would not have cost millions of dollars to change if all the Shredder scenes in the armor were already shot. "Shredder" is 9/10s a CGI construction, so the actor who's "in" the suit is inconsequential.
Literally, the only thing they would need to do, IF they changed it at the last minute, is shoot a very small number of scenes with an Asian actor, do a little creative editing of scenes already shot, and re-do a couple lines of audio/dialog. It absolutely could have been done over a weekend for almost nothing.
As I stated elsewhere, one of the Wolverine movies (almost sure it was the first but I can't remember, have not seen either, and admittedly am not as invested in those movies as others are, this is based on an article I read with the director recently) was having major changes made on-set AS they were filming. The movie that was scripted was not the movie that was made, as the studio would literally fax over new instructions every morning, instructing the director to excise characters that were already cast, add new ones, change entire plot points drastically from what was written down, etc. Obviously the director was not happy with this, nor were the crew, especially those who were expecting the movie to be the same as the script they all had a copy of, but every day, they essentially had to start over from scratch and somehow make a coherent movie out of it. The only thing "mandatory" were certain CGI-heavy action scenes that the studio had more or less already paid for. The story and characters that linked those scenes, however, were deemed inconsequential.
So, in looking at that example, and strictly going by how movies are made, how "The System" works, if you can more or less entirely make a movie up as you go along even after you're already started shooting, it makes no sense to even suggest that they couldn't change to Sachs to Saki at the last minute. They can, and by all objective evidence, they did. "Fox was pregnant" is a convenient cover, sure, but I actually think that would be deemed more of a waste of money by the studio than sticking Saki in at the last minute. They'd say "Just edit around her".
People can believe what they want, but the simpler explanation is, they changed Sachs to Saki because fans complained. And hey, I give them credit for listening to fans, but as others have said, it seems like they missed the "why" of it all.

Yup...this is for real. He finally has a name.
Screen Daily and Variety have mentioned his name, there's a wikipedia entry, his voice sounds like the one from the trailer from his videos on his actor site and well it's definitely his face as the 'shaddowy figure' from the trailers. Even his website says he was working on a MAJOR FEATURE FILM in March 2014..rather suspicious timing...

And reshoots for TMNT were confirmed on April 1st. If the "major feature film" is this one, that might just prove the last-minute recasting theory.

I think the Cat may well be out of the bag,
The only other feature film on his imdb for 2014 is a film called Chatter directed by Matthew Solomon from the studio Heretic Entertainment with no other recognizable names or major stars...not exactly a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE
He was also in Inception. But I don't think it really matters if a big name plays Shredder anyway. His face is gonna be covered 90% of the time. It's not like anyone knew who James Saito was before the first movie.

Found this quote from a set visit. It's one of the FX guys talking about the Shredder suit:
“At the end there’s a section that he does some natural things so in that case, he’s half what we shoot and half CG because we only built 50% of the suit, but it’s Bill Fichtner who is wearing the suit.”
Sounds like not only was Fichtner the original Shredder, but he actually IS playing him in the film.
Here's an article that breaks down all the facts and speculation: http://screenrant.com/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-william-fichtner-shredder/
