View Full Version : Are you bothered by those crazy fangirls/boys?

Here I'm talking about those who post crazy fanfictions with strange ideas or just don't know accurate informations about the TMNT franchise but really into the show. Like I've seen young teenage girls hooked on TMNT because of some characters and imagine themselves being in a relationship with them. Especially the 2k12 cartoon. I don't say they shouldn't do it but don't you guys find it strange and disturbing at times? Because sometimes I feel bad and embarrassed. :ohwell:

Not really. To each, their own.
But it is creepy with sexual fantasy and some fanfic.

Depends on what it is. There is some stuff that to me is just all kinds of "no," but I just avoid what I don't care to view or be a part of. I may not agree with it, I may not even understand it, but it's not really my place to stifle the free speech of others or tell them how to enjoy things they are into.
I tend to give the teens a pass for the most part. We were all young once. And harboring a crush on these guys is almost as old as the franchise itself and fictional characters are safe to mentally explore relationships. Though, be it done by them or adults, I do find self inserts of that nature a little irritating. Even moreso when someone is a really great artist and I love their style but most of their work is some obvious self insert all over a character. It's like I'd love to see more of a fave of mine done in their work/style, but you know... without their fictional self all over him. :tlol:

It's sad how some people tend to just focus on the negative instead of looking at the good stuff people come up with. I try to steer clear of any sexual content when writing stories about the TMNT. However if I'm writing Harry Potter or even Back to the Future I'll get a little racy, but I usually stick with the relationships that are canon (Ron & Hermione, Doc & Clara). I'm not gonna have the Weasley Twins 69ing each other or Marty McFly hooking up with his mom in 1955! That's just messed up!!!

As far as crazy fans go... doesn't bother me in the slightest (because by the standards of most posters here, I am one!).
It's pointless to moan about such things - adult fanwork exists in literally every fandom you can think of. It's part of life, and comes with the territory of being on the internet. If you see something you're not into, be a grown-up and click the 'back' button. Moaning about it is a total waste of energy, because it's not going to stop people drawing/writing/shipping who and what they want. (I should clarify, I'm directing this at the room, here).
As far as knowledge of the franchise goes - nobody springs from the womb knowing everything there is to know about TMNT (or anything else for that matter). If someone's first exposure to TMNT is through the 2k12 series, that's a-ok in my book. They're hardly going to be encouraged to explore other parts of the franchise if snotty gatekeeper nerds are looking down their noses at them. Making someone feel like crap for not knowing something doesn't motivate them to learn more about a subject - anybody who's had a douchey teacher in school can tell you that much.
People shouldn't spend so much time worrying about what other fans do. Enjoy the fandom how you want to enjoy it, and let others enjoy it the way they want to. Being judgmental accomplishes nothing - again, this is coming from someone who does have the "Crazy Fan" label. All the scorn and derision in the world doesn't stop me from enjoying the things I enjoy, and it's never for one second made me feel bad about it.

Some fan created stuff makes me a little uncomfortable, and a lot of it is not to my taste, but that's my problem. I can't get annoyed at someone because they see a fictional universe differently to me. There are enough problems in the world to worry about without adding fiction to the list.
I will say though that in the rare cases where fans graduate to control the cannon of the property they were fans of; that can be annoying. At that point you can't write off things that you don't like as easily. I'm a little concerned about future Star Wars movies for that reason.

Unfortunately this stuff comes up when you're searching for other things in a search engine. I literally have no desire to see Don and Leo hugging sexually in bed. :ohwell:

Actually, it's not just teenagers. Although people who create adult fanwork within the TMNT community are a smaller part of the overall fan population, there are still hundreds more than you'd think. They're all ages, all genders, all sexualities, all ethnicities, all backgrounds and religions. The one unifying common factor is that they're TMNT fans.
So when someone starts baaaaw-ing about teenage fangirls ruining the fandom with "filth" and "abomination"... I just roll my eyes, because I've got absolutely zero patience for that kind of ish.
I mean, let's get real here. There's genuinely awful sh*t going on in the world every day - war, rape, famine, murder, disease, child abuse, domestic violence, animal cruelty and neglect, natural disasters, hundreds of children dying of hunger every day, to name but a few. And some people are getting their balls in an uproar because other fans are making up sexy stories... about fictional characters... from a species that does not exist in reality? I'm sorry, but grow the hell up up and re-evaluate your priorities. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen for a night and see what real problems are.
Life is full of things that we don't like - you see them every day. I, for example, do not like pulpy orange juice and can't see why anyone would. But if I go to the grocery store and see it on the shelf, I don't throw a shrieking sh*t-fit about how it's ruining the grocery store. Instead I pick up a carton of pulp-less orange juice and go about my day. Because I'm a bloody grown-up and I realize that the rest of the world doesn't tailor itself to what I like and don't like.
I'm pretty sure I've said this in the past and I'm going to say again - nobody has the right to tell someone else how to enjoy a fandom. Nobody has the right to police the fandom. You enjoy TMNT your way, and let others do the same. If people aren't hurting anyone else, let them do what the hell they want. Life is enough of a crap-fest as it is - let people have a few crumbs of enjoyment where they can.

Well as said this stuff is meant to be avoided by people who don't want to see it, yet some times it accidentally pops up.
Its the same thing for any type of porn on the internet. You're going to accidentally wind up seeing some stuff you did not want to see and then the image gets burned into your mind for a while. How many times have I clicked on the wrong link and saw ________? Way too much.
IndigoErth
03-04-2015, 12:18 AM
Well sadly yes, that's life. Sometimes you do end up with pulpy orange juice by mistake. Which in and of itself is an abomination, but no one has died from that or accidentally seeing things. Just get out the mind bleach. I'll even let you borrow some.
I mean there's other things I'm sick of seeing too (such as...celebrity women who believe the world wants to constantly see as much of their boobs and other exposed flesh as possible at all times than what is actually true), but I'm not I'm not throwing a fit or permanently damaged by it. (Ok I think I probably am damaged, but nothing I can do about it.)
And blaming young "fangirls" is way too easy, the world and fandom is hardly that simple... I'm sure there are plenty of guys who are just as "guilty" of depictions that might disinterest some other fans.

I gotta agree with Penny and Indigo. I mean, (more food analogy) I don't like bell peppers, but sometimes they're in something I otherwise like. I can pick them out, but the flavor is still there, because bell peppers ruin everything. So I a) avoid them as much as I can, and b) fricking deal with it. They repeat on me like hell, but they do go away eventually. Other people can like them just fine; you just won't find me at the Fajita Cookoffs. AND IT'S FINE.
The world is never going to perfectly tailor itself to your personal liking. You don't have to like things, but other people do. AND IT'S FINE.
There are people who sacrifice time and effort to express themselves creatively and put their craft out there for the world to see, and there are plenty of folks out there who do nothing but sh!t on them, their work, their whole fandom for it, just because it's not to their liking, and because they have nothing better to do with their time. Because somehow, this makes them feel like they are better, or at least that this brings the creator down to their own level. The work may not be great; the artist may not be experienced or particularly good, and you may not like it, but this person put something in the world rather than taking something out of it. You can like it, you can not like it; you can express opinions about it in ways that might influence the creator's way of doing things, you can produce something counter to it, or you can ignore it and move on.
At least then one or the other of you has been productive. Otherwise, you're just a monkey flinging poo.
Think about what you've added to the world before picking on someone else's creative pursuits.

Tell you what though, I am grateful that the lack of internet in my youth means there is no permanent record online of all the stuff that went through my head at that age. I feel for kids today. :tlol:
I love these guys so I do feel protective over them. They've been around for close to my whole life and kind of feel to me like members of my generation, even though they're fictional. I will say that it's a little challenging to not want to defend them from stuff I feel they'd be opposed to were they real and knew about it. Especially since some slightly irrational(?) part of me wishes for them to be regarded and respected by society as if they were real. lol (Hell, I've wished that damn movie had said it was starring THEM, not the actors that were supposed to only be supporting characters. lol) But they're not real and won't know. I might not agree with some stuff but I'll at least defend the freedom of others to do what they want with it because that is, imo, the right thing to do, even if I don't agree with the material.
It's like religion... believe what you want, but if I don't share it then please just don't bring it to my door or throw pamphlets around near my house. If I go knocking on your door (website, site account, whatever) then that was my choice if I was greeted with what I didn't care to see.
I hope some don't take any rejection, disagreement...or possible repulsion... from me as personal judgement however. I'm sure some are perfectly awesome people to still know online otherwise, even if we don't share the same Turtles "religion."

There's always going to be Rule 34 applied to any franchise. One reason it seems more "out there" is because of the anonymity and trolling nature of the internet.
I think a prominent reason for the outrage against it is not necessarily that these TMNT characters are "growing up" and dealing with more grown up issues, but that the tone of the fanwork is leaning toward a reader's/writer's sexual gratification (sometimes blatantly so) when that wasn't the objective in creating the universe/characters in the first place. The outrage is amplified by the fact that the franchise/universe/characters have a connection to children's cartoons.
If TMNT was exclusively set for, and created for, primetime adult audiences within networks like HBO and Cinemax (and had as much frequent sexual content as seen in some of the more extreme fanworks online), the outrage would be far less, since in this hypothetical situation, the heightened sexual content and gratification was originally part of the show's tone.

Rule 34 should only apply to Japanese anime. I have no idea why American cartoons have it.
Now you see people drawing pictures of Fred Flintstone boning Wilma or Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo. Meanwhile those shows existed in the pre-internet days so there was no such thing as cartoon porn back then.
Besides Japanese artists are the only ones who can draw animated porn and get away with it, since its an entire industry over there.

I'm talking about cartoon porn based on copyrighted characters, or popular cartoon shows. I obviously know drawn porn has always existed.
Now there is Flintstones and Scooby Doo porn. Why would this even exist in the pre-internet days? If some kid drew a naked Daphne in 1970 he wouldn't be able to show it to anyone but some friends and then it would be tossed in the trash.
Now people draw porn of cartoon characters and they're uploaded to the internet forever.

I think it's a safe say that cartoon porn probably existed well before the internet existed as a host and for as long as there have been fans. Including among copyrighted characters.
Just because there wasn't an internet to put it on doesn't mean it didn't happen. And hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there was any displayed at art exhibits in the 70s.

The animated porn industry was pioneered by Japan due to their hentai fetish. The fact that they can publish hentai doujin based on copyrighted material and make a profit over it (something that would be illegal in the U.S.) says a lot.
Japans copyright laws are different than the U.S., they're allowed to publish their own fan-made doujin manga based on copyrighted characters. The fact that there is Pokemon hentai doujin out there being published and Nintendo can't put a stop to it says a lot in itself.

... god I love you. Our two minds are as one.
And why. Because human mind, that's why.
Yeah, it did exist pre-internet. Within fanzines, for one. Modern slashfic in pop culture first appeared in the 70s, originating within the Star Trek fandom. George Lucas kept trying to sue people for doing adult Star Wars fanwork back in the 80's. Slash art was also put into those fanzines and drawn as covers. These would then be swapped or sold between fans at general fan conventions.
So it's hardly a new thing brought on by the internet - it's been around for 40+ years. The internet wasn't available to the general public until the 90's.
In the 90's, people then started posting and sharing adult fanwork online (as well as continuing to do so at conventions). Back in those days, adult fanwork was often referred to as "lemon" (or "lime", for adult works with a lower level of bedroom shenanigans) - as in, "I've just posted a new lemon fic". The term 'lemon' to describe adult fanfic and fanart was derived from an 80's hentai anime called Cream Lemon.
These days, there are numerous conventions held for slashfic and slashart fans from numerous fandoms every year, all across the world. So yes, there are plenty who do enjoy adult fanworks - including on this board. I've noticed that most people here who are into it keep it "stealth" because they don't want to deal with the judgmental BS (and I'm certainly not going to 'out' anyone), but you'd be mistaken in thinking that only 2 or 3 of the more vocal 'dromers are into it.

The only TMNT fans that disturb me are those "Turtle-cest" shippers who draw erotic fanart of Leonardo and Raphael "doing each other" on deviantart.
Thankfully you can avoid those people like the plague like the black holes in society they actually are. They're even worse than furries.
No you can't. They're all around you, Cubed- you just don't realize it. *Chuckles evilly.* :teek::twink::tlol::trazz:
Depends on what it is. There is some stuff that to me is just all kinds of "no," but I just avoid what I don't care to view or be a part of. I may not agree with it, I may not even understand it, but it's not really my place to stifle the free speech of others or tell them how to enjoy things they are into.
Thank you for this. That is my view as well, and I feel that much of the "hate" against such works is just plain self-righteous bigotry disguised as "moral/ethical aversion".
As far as crazy fans go... doesn't bother me in the slightest (because by the standards of most posters here, I am one!).
It's pointless to moan about such things- adult fanwork exists in literally every fandom you can think of.
People shouldn't spend so much time worrying about what other fans do. Enjoy the fandom how you want to enjoy it, and let others enjoy it the way they want to. Being judgmental accomplishes nothing- again, this is coming from someone who does have the "Crazy Fan" label.
Cheers for that, penny! This is why I often stand up for what others like or appreciate, even if I don't personally get into it myself, or even if I find it just plain weird and/or gross. And I will say right now that I DO enjoy a bit of the T-cest on occasion- not writing (yet- that might change one day if I get the guts to actually try my hand at it) but I DO read a few from certain authors, or enjoy the works of a few artists who are talented and whose style I like, regardless of the actual subject matter. If that makes ME a "crazy fangirl", then so be it. I enjoy the characters and their world, and if that sometimes includes exploring them in a new and different way, that is how I open my mind to new experiences and find things I never knew I could enjoy. And I WILL defend anyone else's right to do so, as well.
There's genuinely awful sh*t going on in the world every day- war, rape, famine, murder, disease, child abuse, domestic violence, animal cruelty and neglect, natural disasters, hundreds of children dying of hunger every day, to name but a few. And some people are getting their balls in an uproar because other fans are making up sexy stories... about fictional characters... from a species that does not exist in reality? I'm sorry, but grow the hell up up and re-evaluate your priorities. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen for a night and see what real problems are.
Life is full of things that we don't like - you see them every day....
I second all of this.
Well sadly yes, that's life. Sometimes you do end up with pulpy orange juice by mistake. Just get out the mind bleach. I'll even let you borrow some.
And blaming young "fangirls" is way too easy, the world and fandom is hardly that simple... I'm sure there are plenty of guys who are just as "guilty" of depictions that might disinterest some other fans.
Bingo! It's not just fan"girls", it's often fan"WOMEN" or fan boys/guys, too!
I like this. This is a great way of looking at the issue, and I applaud you for that!
Now there is Flintstones and Scooby Doo porn. Why would this even exist in the pre-internet days? If some kid drew a naked Daphne in 1970 he wouldn't be able to show it to anyone but some friends and then it would be tossed in the trash.
And those same cartoons have had "porn" made of them for decades as well. It did NOT start in Japan, there was naked images of Betty Boop, Olive Oyle from Popeye, and other early cartoon characters from as far back as the 30's. Many of the old Disney movies had small images hidden in the animation, as well (Google Lady and the Tramp dog sex scene or Rescuers naked woman shadow and you'll get the idea.) It's NOT new, and it's NOT limited to fan-art, either. Sometimes the creators themselves do these things just for kicks!
And I'm sure there were guys who drew Jessica Rabbit and Betty Boop naked too. Just because it's prevalent today doesn't mean it wasn't back then either. Stuff like that happens and if you don't go looking for it (which I believe you do, Cubed, because you have nothing else better to do), then it's no big deal.
Ditto.
Yeah, it did exist pre-internet. Within fanzines, for one. Modern slashfic in pop culture first appeared in the 70s, originating within the Star Trek fandom. Man, there were dirty comics featuring Popeye in the 30s. I'm guessing that this type of thing has been going on for as long as people could draw.

Hmm, yes... as much as the artists might have claimed studying the nude form, let's face it... At some point, they probably just wanted to draw naked chicks. And dudes, to maybe a lesser extent. But the nude subjects are often considered innocents... nor are they posed in promiscuous ways, so trying to call that pervy kinda doesn't fit the bill. Eye of the beholder, maybe.
As to the second point, maybe society doesn't want to come out and admit that women like sexy stuff too, but who has the rep for reading trashy romance novels and watching affairs on soaps? (Maybe women are more into the characters, the romances, the intrugues, but in the end, it comes down to sex...) But producing smut puts us on another level, worthy of derision? Frak that noise.

Takes a little cultural perspective, doesn't it? Just because Western culture tells us these things are to be kept private, or that they're sinful... in the end, the species is driven to procreate (or just have fun with their genital bits), and society dictates how open each culture is about it.

I blame our post-Victorian, puritanical, patriarchal society's sense of propriety and morality.Actually, the Victorian times were pretty risque, it's pretty much a myth that they were not sexual. You had Freud coming up with his sexual based theories, magazines that had 'solutions' to erectile dysfunction in men's magazines, and doctors 'helping' women get over their hysteria in ways by masturbating them.
The only difference between then and now is that they largely tended to consider sexual stuff to be private and shared between couples, not aired out in public for all to see as that would be considered highly tasteless and seedy. (The main people who tended put it on 'display' were prostitutes, and they were associated with infidelity and the bad parts of town.)
But as for my own thoughts, I don't really care about fangirls, as there are a ton of them in my other favored franchises like Star Wars and Transformers. There are Starscream fangirls and Darth Maul fangirls, those that like to draw those particular characters in ah, highly erotic positions. As long as the site I'm on has a decent filter to block out that stuff I don't want to see, then they can do whatever they want 8)

Well, I did mean art history, not really the nude models but rather all the ancient kinky wall art, pottery as has been mentioned, ancient sculpture pieces and some cultures that were really big on phallic symbols at one time. Etc. Things that are purely artistic, no, but there is also a lot of ancient art that was clearly intended to be adult in nature.
Ultimately, humanity has not changed much in this regard, only how we respond to these matters in the face of the public and the methods in which they get shared.

So "the females" complain when men talk about how "hot" characters are or draw fanart with girls in sexual positions or with huge boobs/cleavage, yet "the females" do the exact same thing with male characters.
There's a reason the term, "yaoi fangirls" exists in the community. Its a bunch of girls usually pairing up normally straight male characters in anime/shows and drawing erotic fanart or fanfiction about the characters. Its such double standards since they constantly whine when male fans fawn over a female character in a show, yet they do the same thing.

I don't pretend that women don't do it too, hell I wish society would take more notice and acceptance of the fact. However... yes, what comes out of what appeals to men has had a longer, more public history that is far more saturated into society. If I complain, it's not really over that it exists/happens, it's more the fact that the balance is so off center. The more equal give and take there is the less I care. If the guy next to me has to avert his eyes just as often from what he doesn't care to have staring him in the face, then that works for me. :P

I would say the extent of sexual "perversion" is about the same between both genders, but the frequency in these three areas (sexual frequency/number of partners, frequency of cheating, and sexual assault/rape), is why males get more blame and criticism than females. Since men significantly lead in all these three areas, it's why society throughout history has seen men being more inclined toward sexual debauchery than women (and thus see women as more sexually pure). The problem is when these classifications become extreme and rigid.
From that, it's a little more easy to see why some societies have seen the need for men to nobly protect the "sanctity" of women from other sexually nefarious men, especially when men have a physical strength advantage (with androgenic hormones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgen#Muscle_mass)) over women.

Well, my point was that women were SUPPOSED to be "pure", and even "common" women were expected to at least LOOK "respectable" in dress. Hence why they couldn't show any leg. (Or even bare feet. We did an entire discussion of this when our high school English class read Dracula.) Prostitutes could ACT any way they wanted, but heaven forbid anyone saw their legs or feet- or anything below the neck, actually. It was considered too "shocking"!
The only one's not expected to be sexual during Victorian times were wealthy women of stature. Wanton behavior was a sign of bad breeding.

This is true, to a point. But women were also supposed to PRETEND they were respectable and demure, even when it was clear they weren't. Ladies of the evening even wore signature perfumes (often lavender) while dressing just like regular respectable women, just so potential clients would know what they were offering. It was a form of advertising their profession. This was also why the term "red light district" was coined- they would light red candles or put red lanterns out over their doors or windows.

Frequency of cheating is probable a misconception. In the 4 years I was in the Army must of the married guys I knew who got divorced were due to their wives cheating, but them. I myself experienced that with my first marriage (post-Army that is). Just saying.

There's a reason the term, "yaoi fangirls" exists in the community.
Is there a reason you keep bringing up the matter of cartoon porn instead of focusing on the nice stuff fans put out there? For the love of cheese several individuals here have already posted great examples of Raphael/Mona Lisa fan art, but all you do is gripe about Scooby Doo porn. Seriously, grow up!!!

Is there such a thing as a good TMNT fanfic? One that is not full of unimaginative OCs, questionable breeding or over the top depressing crap?

There is, buddy. You just have to search carefully. For example https://www.fanfiction.net/u/31194/Venka-le-fay this girl writes a bunch of good stuff. One of the dromers posted her name in their signature. Can't remember who was her, tough. But it was a girl. :)

To be fair, it's good to have a little bit of life-and-death type drama and angst, otherwise there'd be no dilemma for the characters to overcome. But yea some people take it way too far. I once read the synopsis for a fan fiction where April and Casey had a child who was accusing Raphael of molesting her. I'm like WTF, dude?! I seriously had a right mind to give that author a piece of my mind! There are some subjects that just don't belong in a story about the Ninja Turtles or any other iconic comic book character... except maybe Deadpool.

Of course there is! If you haven't found any, you're not looking. Of course, if you're counting all OCs out of the running from the start just for being OCs, t-cest and/or slash (which I assume you mean by 'questionable breeding' and not 'whose kid is this' drama), and anything sad, you're probably hanging yourself with your own rope. Sex and tragedy are what most of literature is all about.
The more exclusive you are, the less you're going to find to your liking. Book, cover.
I'm rather happy with how I've treated my own OCs in this respect, because I KNOW what kind of flak OCs in general get. Mine don't show up until Ch 10, and they're a side-plot rather than the main one, and they're a rather unique bunch (a 9-yr old raccoon, an elderly (now literal) cat lady and one of her cats, a giant, mostly mute seagull, and a black beetle).
In fact, if you want a couple good stories with none of the above, check out some of hummerhouse's non-t-cest stuff: Capture Series (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9219719/1/Capture-Series), Viand (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8508171/1/Viand), The Third Deadly Sin (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8063752/1/The-Third-Deadly-Sin), and I don't recall a lot of t-cest in Spool (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7471995/1/Spool), so there's probably not enough in there to bother you.
I've come to hold hummer as one of the gold standards in TMNT fanfic.

Nothing is wrong with well developed, and fleshed out OC's. The sad truth is most are mary sue-ists, or female clones of the Turtles. There are plenty of decent OC's though, so that's not something that turned me off of Turtle fanfics back when I actively read and wrote them myself. T-cest though, that immediately is a red flag to avoid at all cost, I think it's disgusting and does a disservice to the characters that they are being based on. Angst for the sake of angst is another issue, but tragedy can be justified.

Yes, neatoman, there are some great fan fics out there. It may be hard to find them, but they DO exist. There are many authors I admire who post on these boards, and their work is great and very well-written. You could always check out the Fan Works section and find some good stories there.

The thing is, Sue or not, 4 turtle love interests or not, T-cest or not, it's all stuff people made to entertain themselves, first and foremost. Then they hold it up and say, "Look, I made a thing," and get shouted down for it. Sometimes you're not looking to be a master of your craft... sometimes you're just looking for fulfillment of something you're not getting from the show (or other media). And we don't leap from the womb able to write great fic or knowing what or what makes for "good" writing (which is subjective, in the end). Everybody wants to see things their own way, hence the inundation and prevalance of such tropes.
One thing I've found when it comes to t-cest is that not all t-cest is created equal. It's not all about sex... some of it is just being sweet to each other, some is romantic, some is about rape and subterfuge... It runs the gamut. And I've seen some that's better written and more interesting (and better justified) than some turtle x human fics.
You can think what you want to think about it, but whatever your opinion is of it, someone's is contrary, and it, and their work, are also allowed to exist.
Fact of the matter is, the show doesn't even delve into romantic interests (and even if they did, someone would find a way to nix those for writing their own version), and so they fans start extrapolating to fill in the gaps to their own liking.
I used to write and never added sex or random fan insert relationships. I find that stuff silly
And, see, you don't have to have it in there... but to me, it's a missing element in the "reality" of the show. And because of BS&P, it's something you never will have in the show.

I judge nobody. :) I find some turtlecest, too, which are romantic, sweet and show a great relationship between the turtles. I was just only curious about the opinions on this topic. No harsh feelings. Sorry, if I offended somebody.
Don't even mention the slash transformers... I was pretty shocked when I discovered such a thing exists. Nope, apparently shocked isn't the right word. :D But there must be some nice stories and pictures as well. I just have no intention of searching.

My guess: "You only like me for my swords!"
I mean he's awesome and a highly worthy choice, but lets face it, the guy doesn't tend to win "favorites" polls. So if costuming choice leans in his direction among casual fans, I'm betting it's the weaponry.

I'm not a fangirl, I'm a fanwoman and I have been for a while now. I must admit that I was shocked when I first saw Leo and Raph together in a sexual way. I never thought I'd like reading it or looking at pictures, but after having read some fantastic fanfiction by a particular author(Hummerhouse) I was won over. I'm very open minded about how people enjoy their fandom. I would never judge anyone for how they celebrated something they love. I also appreciate canon and I am happy to love or leave it too.

IF we are being strictly technical... Isn't everything beyond Eastman or Laird, the original authors, tantamount to fan-fiction?
It all depends upon the narrative and whether it respects what TMNT are or does not. As far as wild narratives penned by "crazy fans?" That is subjective! What is a crazy fan? Someone who spends a lot of $$$$ on a fan project and tries to treat it as an extension of original continuity?
Some of those stories on fanfiction.net, myself included, are pretty wild. My narrative is a simple origin story that attempts to show that TMNT can be for adults.
To others, if a turtle is not shipping with some random mutate it simply isn't turtles.
My opinion is... any TMNT project that does not treat the TMNT with dignity (i.e. Bay Turtles, Rise, a few others) then it was done by CRAZY fans!
