Not sure if this goes in this or the Comics Discussion. Do you think the Mirage Turtles are the best fighters when compared to the counterparts across the other mediums? I mean they don't mess around they kill their opponents, especially regarding the foot clan, almost every time.

I'm not sure I'd argue "killing one's opponent" makes you a better fighter. It often takes more skill to incapacitate than simply kill.

probably, although I'd say the Nick Turtles might have a good chance if not a upper hand. Since the Nick Turtles have shown to be ruthless, stealthy and the writers actually incorporates actual martial arts in the show so we do get a better look at what the Turtles can do.

I hate to say it....I mean really hate to say it....but I imagine the 2014 Turtles would be the ones to win a fight, but are not necessarily the best fighters. I only say this because they're jacked up on steroids, can bend the laws of physics when it's convenient, have ridiculous variability in how strong they are, and apparently have adamantium for shells.

Ugh....
You make valid points, but since this is a fantasy what if scenario, The Mirage Turtles would eviscerate The PDMT (Platinum Dune's Moneymaking Travesties) on principal alone.
The universe couldn't live with itself otherwise.

Mirage's turtles are the best fighters, hands down, yes.

Mirage/Image, yes.
And I hate saying it, but as I said on another thread, I think the IDW Turtles are some of the poorest fighters.
For second place, 4Kids TMNT were great fighters who we actually got to see progress and develop in skill. Case in point: Hun. He was a juggernaut (b****) at first, but eventually he was just an afterthought for the Turtles.

Yes I would have to agree that the Mirage Turtles are the best fighters.
They certainly trained the most before showing themselves to the world. They had been training for over a decade. Others have followed that template, but I don't think we've ever seen the Turtles in any other medium or adaption take out the shear number of Foot Soldiers and enemies as the Mirage Turtles in the premiere issue.
Can anyone think of or point to a single comic issue, episode, etc from another iteration of the Turtles where they take out a similar (or more) number of foot soliders?

Better fighters than all of the others in terms of skill? yes. Able to defeat all the other iterations in a fair fight with both side's resource's all available? no.
Japan's Super mutation, the 4kids dragon modes, all of the other power -ups across the turtles's multiverse... one of the downsides to be the realistic and grounded version when taking on the fantastic is, well, being grounded and realistic.

Secondary mutations and alternates don't count, mane. Remember, Mirage, Archie & the OT had turtles turning into beasts/robots/etc too, but it's all irrelevant.
As far as 4 regular TMNT go, Mirage's are the best fighters.

As I said, Mirage TMNT are the best fighters skill-wise. I agree with you on disregarding alternate forms and secondary mutations, but I refuse to disregard power-ups like the dragon forms and mutastones.

Considering the fact that they managed to defeat their Shredder on the first try while other versions have had to struggle in their fights with him or relied on help from Splinter, I'd say yeah.
But I agree on the early comment saying that "willingness to kill" doesn't equal "better fighter".

Personally I prefer 2012 turtles and see them as formidable. Heh, agree. :D They'd win all.

They are not on steroids. They just designed them big.

They're generally not a bunch of chuckleheads like they are in every non-Mirage universe, so yeah, I'd say the Mirage TMNT are probably better fighters.
For one thing, they're not all bloated from consuming nothing but pizza and soda for years and years like their counterparts. :trazz:

Well it's easy to be the best fighters when you actually use your weapons as weapons. So yeah, totally.

The mirage turtles could just kill themselves and then whatever turtle group is facing off against them would die too. So better fighters or not, the mirage turtles control the fate of every other incarnation.

Mirage! They would hand a katana to every incarnation of turtles and tell them to commit seppuku.

No joke -- the OT Turtles would win in a fight amongst multiple incarnations.
Notice the manner in which they fight. They're clearly very skilled at ninjitsu (see Season 1), but when a situation comes up in which the fighting style may not cut it, they get creative with their fighting. Oftentimes using their environment to their advantage in such unique ways so their enemies would have a hard time anticipating their attacks (smashing the ice in an ice rink, using raw bubblegum in a bubblegum factory, etc).
It would take an enemy that's a ninja and is so incredibly ridiculous as to anticipate their strange fighting style almost instantly to beat them. And any other incarnation of the TMNT doesn't have both those qualities.

The 2k3 Turtles are probably the best fighters, they do crazy things the Mirage Turtles could never do. They literally jump off walls and do inhuman backflips and kick while hovering 10 feet in the air.

Plus toon physics, and they could find a way around Mirage brutality, 2k3 discipline and supernatural powers, Image body modifications, etc.

OT raphael can summon a pizza at will in the crossover episode, hence they could summon all kinds of other weapons and turn out on top in a fight.

I'm not sure I'd argue "killing one's opponent" makes you a better fighter.
But not doing so probably makes you less of a ninja and more of a "half measure."
Mirage! They would hand a katana to every incarnation of turtles and tell them to commit seppuku.
The other versions wouldn't have the balls to do it. But they should.

Like ray guns that miss their target and blow up something directly behind them, or guns that shoot boxing gloves, or anvils....

So, even though they are NORMAL ninja turtles, even being the most skilled at ninjitsu, they are going to beat powered up DBZ-esque turtles who can create energy blasts, energy shields that can easily block normal blows, and destroy things with destruction waves?
*sigh* This isn't a serious comparison of abilities, this is a popularity contest.
Those powers mean nothing if they get snuck up on. Which proper ninjas could and would do.

The Mirage turtles aren't proper ninjas, they are Hollywood martial arts stereotypes with the name 'ninja' slapped on them because it sounds 'kewel'. But whatever, Mirage wins because everyone says so. :ohwell:
Yes, but not quite.
It wasn't Hollywood making those movies that Eastman and Laird were inspired by, it was China.

Mirage turtles didn't always go in silent and stealthy but they definitely did more than once. They are plenty capable of doing so. Even the FW turtles could do it when they had to. Point is if we're talking straight up one set wants to kill another, element of surprise is probably a major deciding factor.
I suppose on a resources level any one team of TMNT are pretty powerful, but I wonder about the moral and ethical decision making processes each would make. Mirage might be the only ones with the resolve to actually kill themselves, as it were, particularly via using a surprise attack. 2k3 turtles could probably defend themselves in a fair fight but I don't know that they would put the others down.
Alternatively, you could argue the Mirage turtles are in fact the weakest, as outside of what, one injury in 2k3?, they are the only ones to ever actually be shown to be able to even take damage to begin with!

Stop it with the sour grapes towards Mirage. For God's sake. We know you like the kid versions best but it doesn't mean you have to act like one.
