View Full Version : Who's the better ally and the better villain?
When it comes to Slash, Leatherhead and even Wingnut, both have had different allegiances over the years. At one point they are the most dangerous "non-human" threat the Turtles have faced; and at another they are the best of allies (heck, all three have been members of the "Mighty Mutanimals" at some point).
So I ask you... if you had to pick, who is better an ally and who is better a villain? (You can chose all if ya want)

Obviously it depends on the context of the series. I don't know Wingnut well enough as I haven't read many of the comics.
Otherwise, Leatherhead I feel is better to be ambiguous. We don't see him fully neutral, only time was IDW until he's revealed a bad guy. Why not toy with fusing the elements of each incarnation together? Though wise with a danger side (think Jekyll and Hyde), he also possesses a cunning side like IDW. That'd be a good way to make him a loose cannon, someone difficult to trust or follow.
As for Slash, I do feel the Nick version until he became a hero was better a villain. He was a mirror image to Raphael if he allowed his anger to fully cloud him. Unless Tokka and Rahzar are in a new series, or at least Tokka, Slash might be better a villain but could grow.
Honestly, I see both as neutral.

Slash has made for a great ally (Archie, IDW, Nick). Leatherhead is probably most interesting when he's playing an adversarial role.
Wingnut is just a wildcard of chaos, and I like him that way.

I like Leatherhead as an ally, and Slash as more of a villain, though having either one be ambiguous would also open up a lot of interesting possibilities.

I have no opinion on Wingnut, having only experienced him in the IDW "Bebop and Rocksteady Destroy Everything" mini-series. I don't remember the Fred Wolf episode which I probably saw as a kid...
Honestly, I like Leatherhead as an unpredictable ally and Slash as a former enemy turned ally. Though they're both extremely well suited to be antagonists, I can live with either way. Just tell good stories with them.
Kinda hoping the IDW Leatherhead becomes more sympathetic ala Old Hob?

Wingnut was also part of the Mutanimals in the Archie series and appeared in a ton of issues.

And again, refresher course on Cylons:
Likes: IDW, 4Kids, Mirage/Image
Doesn't like: Fred Wolf, Nick, Archie, Next Mutation
I understand Wingnut has a more substantial presence than I've personally experienced or cared to remember. But in my preferred slice of TMNT, he's just in B&RDE.

Cy, aren't you missing a certain film series? Or, is it already burnt away? :P

I do wonder what it'd be like if Slash and Leatherhead appeared in a TMNT movie as experiments by Bishop or the EPF. It's an odd idea of mine, but I figured it'd be fun.

This is a real shame.
Its his opinion. I respect it as he conducts himself in a cordial matter. If one behaves poorly with preferences even if shared sure you can post the above, but come on,Cubed. I dislike Image and Next Mutation.and ignore the existence as much as I can. Is that a shame? Its an opinion.

Guess so. I can't really make a call like this.
But I will say I like all three best as anti-heroes. Sometimes helpful, sometimes a problem.

I guess personally I prefer Leatherhead as an ally and Slash as a villain.
