That was the TV show's finale. The second season, which was ordered in July 2018 before the show had even premiered, was apparently cut from the original 26 episodes to 13.

Yes, at least based on that director's tweet. Straight to Netflix unless they change plans. I'm not sure how they moved forward with the movie given the lukewarm success of the show... but I guess we'll see.

You raise a good point, TigerClaw. Personally, I’ll wait and see if a new series is essentially a spinoff of this upcoming movie, but it is an interesting thought all the same.

As for the main subject, good to know. Crazy as it may sound, I’m actually not sure what to think of this news. On one hand, I made all too clear that I wasn’t wild about it, even if moreso in the past, but on the other, I’m fully aware that there are some people, some of whom are good friends of mine, who did like it.

Well if this is end of Rise all I can say is "It's been interesting" at first when I saw the character designs I was taken back but I say "I want to wait till I see a trailer", saw the trailer and it peaked my interest saw the first couple of episodes and I really enjoyed it. I could tell that the team wanted to try something new by making the show be somewhat of a prequel seeing how the turtles became the turtles we know and they were some ideas I wouldn't mind or would like to see come back up in a future series like the Mystic city.

Was this show everyone's cup of tea ? no, but was it interesting and had it's moments ? yes, I feel like this show is going to be the "Beware the Batman" of the turtle's franchise. In that when it first came out most people especially hard core fans sort of dismiss it and only until after a year or two after cancellation did it get some more traction to eventually people will be saying "You know what that show wasn't so bad" but that's my opinion on that. Goodbye Rise, I hope you get some justice from that Netflix's movie and I'm looking forward to where this franchise goes.

Brave and the Bold was loved from its first season, that's not a good comparison. Sucks the second season got cut short but did it get a decent finale at least? Hope so..

I don't know if I should maraton the show now or when the movie comes out, if it comes out, we need to ask if anything happened, perhaps it's not even a Rise movie anymore, if it is perhaps a crossover movie? It was announced way back so I don't know why it wouldn't be finished and aired already if they were killing the show.

Nah it was hated in its first season but only loved in its second.

Make a TMNT that's a mix of Mirage and OT and always remember to pander to the OT crowd.

I was gonna say, that comparison is seriously insulting to "Brave and the Bold". I remember a lot of trepidation but once it hit the air everybody I knew was won over by it.

Ah well. This couldn't honestly have come as a surprise to anyone.

For whatever else, at least we can move on to the inevitable Next Thing. But I'd be lying if I said that excited me, because... Nickelodeon. The next version might skew more traditional, but by this point I really have no confidence that they won't just screw it up in a different way. The next thing Nick produces for TMNT that I actually wholeheartedly enjoy, will be the very first thing.

Toon Zone and /co/ loved it since the first season and they were likely the biggest communities at the time, the first season is not of the same quality as every season after but it wasn't hated. The Batman on the other hand, that got undeserved and it's only now starting to be appreciated again.

Oh, that's right. I always forget that when you guys say "people", you mean Internet People. No wonder that stuff so rarely reconciles with what I hear people saying in Real Life. Your "everybody says" is totally different from my "everybody says", because they're two totally different "Everybodys".

I never talked to anyone online about Brave and the Bold. I just know that people I spoke to originally were fearful it would skew too young or too comedic but were blown away by how faithful to the comics it actually was. That was the impression from the beginning and remained that way for the duration.

I personally prefer a "darker" take on Batman but they hit so much of the DCU in such a reverent fashion that I really couldn't complain about it. I'd rather have had more Justice League, but failing that B&B was equally good from a different angle.

Regardless, comparing "Rise" to B&B is pretty mean to B&B. "Aimed at a younger audience" and "more silly than the last show" doesn't make them equitable, nor does it tell the whole story. One show was ultra-faithful to its source material, the other essentially wiped itself with the source material and tried to coast on the reputation of other, better iterations to justify its own questionable ideas.

They're not the same thing.

I'm actually starting to feel nostalgic for The Batman myself these days. Now that Legion of Superheroes of all shows got a blu-ray release along with Teen Titans, I wish they'd do the same for The Batman.

As for Rise, I'm happy to see it end. All of the animated shows went over a 100 episodes which is a good ass run for any TV show, and this along with Next Mutation are the only failures, which says a lot. Hopefully they learn from this and move onto something better, which I highly doubt. But whatever it is, they should definitely wait it out and make people miss TMNT for a bit, unlike how thirsty they were to move on with Rise before anyone could even forget about the 2012 show.

Its kinda funny because the later sentence you said could be said to the OT especially the "wiped itself with the source material" since the original creator for Mirage hated it.

The difference is, there really wasn't that much source material at the time and they were strictly trying to sell toys. Regardless of how Peter Laird or Kevin Eastman felt about it, they sold out and now the original cartoon is just as much part of the franchise's roots as the original comics.

It's also generally understood that...

1. NJ people are a lot cooler than most.
2. I run with a more sophisticated crowd than most'a you hepcats do. "Probably".

Regardless, I always put more stock in what living, breathing human being say when I'm in the same physical space as them. I disregard what faceless people in Internet Land type about most things, as so much of it is trying to get in the wittiest zinger or earn "upvotes" or whatever. But let the record show, when I speak anecdotally, I'm going by what people have said to me in person, not what they've typed, unless I specifically state otherwise.

In my experience, "internet fandom" has one opinion on any given topic, "Real Life" people have another opinion, and they're generally not the same thing. Maybe that's different for others, but that's always been my experience.

I love Rise, largely for how different it was. Different is welcome at this point, I'm tired of the same old sh*t.

Now, expect nothing but literal OT pandering for a decade straight. Congrats, manbabies, you get to suckle corporate teet to the grave.

I wish people could simply have opinions without being called names or having their character put into question.

It's bad enough when people do it over politics and things that might actually matter in the real world, but being petty and spiteful because a cartoon show got cancelled? Well... not for nothing, but that's some "pot - kettle" stuff. Just sayin'.

I personally don't think the show failed because it was "different". People have shown they're fine with "different". I think it failed because it was insipid. And I think laying blame and calling people names because they didn't like a cartoon oversimplifies the issue dramatically. There's people who did more than "give it a chance", they hate-watched it despite knowing what it was all about and just wanted to support the brand. And it still didn't gain any ground.

It's NOT as simple as, "people just hated it because it was different". If most people are anything like me, it was because it was "too dumb for even THIS lousy franchise." Even those abysmal PD movies had an audience. This show was ignored. That says a lot. To me, it says that there is actually a line where it goes from "dumb but charming" into just plain "dumb".

People don't have to share that opinion by any means. If they liked the show, they liked the show. But that's probably what happened. Not "too different". Just plain too "WTF even IS this?"

When "Well, at least it's different" is your one and only gimmick, you're not gonna last. It's not enough to be "different". Different gets you attention, it doesn't get you laid. It also helps to be "good". Was it good? Ehhhh. Apparently, some people think so. Some people also think the Grateful Dead performed good music and that tofu counts as "food". People can have all kinds of crazy opinions, that's America. BUT. If a person is gonna wear such things on one's sleeve, it's unbecoming to call names and insist everyone ELSE has something wrong with them if they don't agree.

I personally think it got a longer run than it deserved, for a show that got lousy ratings and had toys that nobody bought. Supporters can take solace in that.

I do agree that the next reboot probably still won't be any good, but not because "Nick only cares about doing FW." I'm not convinced that's actually the lesson they're taking. The problem is that whether the take is "traditional" or "new and different", they only care about entertaining little kids with ADHD. So long as they insist the only people worth pandering to are 7-year olds, it really doesn't matter WHAT approach they use, the results will be poor. Because little kids have awful taste, they don't know how to verbalize their opinions into anything substantial, and they don't have any money to spend, therefore it's stupid to pander to them when 80% of your audience is actually 30-something.

Going into more familiar territory IS the right thing to do. Doing a "TMNT show" that only barely resembled TMNT in any way at all WAS a mistake. Do I think more familiar elements will resurface in the next reboot? Yes, because that's the only logical thing to do when you bet everything on Red and lose. You don't double-down on your mistakes. Do I think it will be crummy? Probably. Not because it's going to be "too FW inspired", although Lord knows I'd love to pile concrete over that show's grave once and for all by this point, myself. No, the next reboot will be lousy simply because Nick was the wrong company to buy this brand, they don't run it right, and they have piss-poor priorities and absolutely no vision beyond pimping toys.

ANYTHING they do will be bad, whether they try and be "wacky" again or go back to recycling what worked before. They "can't" do anything of substance with the property, because ALL of it is conceived in sin. It's a kids' company that owns a brand where all the fans are almost 40. They think we're all stupid, they don't listen to us, and they don't understand why everything they do fails worse than the last thing. Because they THINK it's a kids' property when it's NOT.

THAT is the problem. THAT is why they can't do anything of substance and THAT is why the next reboot probably won't be any good either. You're never gonna get anything resembling Shakespeare when the guys holding the pen only aspire to write Bazooka Joe. Just doesn't work.

SO apparently storyboard artist JJ Conway, among others, were in a livestream earlier & said the series wasn't actually cancelled but that they "finished their run" & it's technically considered on hiatus. They also said that folks should pester Nick to show interest, as the confirmed-in-production film is going to be treated like its last chance; if it does well, more episodes may be ordered. Sweet. I won't get my hopes up too much, but that'd be great. I don't want to go back to status quo.

Meh, since it'll stand as its own thing I'm kind of hoping they'll maybe rework the concept a little for that.

Esp since they've had to know for a while that they were cutting the show short and this movie would not be any kind of connecting fill in between portions of it after all as originally suggested (in quotes in articles I can no longer locate).

Maybe NetFlix is its best chance of getting a third season, it worked for Young Justice but that had more viewership. Not sure how much of a feedback this film would get, particularly if its in the middle of season two and not a continuation from the final. At least that's what I've been hearing or maybe I'm confused now due to the season having less episodes than originally was said. I don't know if this series has that big of a fandom to bother Nick if it gets canceled but it's nice they are considering it. Even though there's a lot of other shows on Nick that should have gotten another season like Danny Phantom in my opinion, how big was that show compared to this I wonder.

I know, right? It's like when we were in high school and kids thought they totally "dunked" on someone by doing the "Suck it!" crotch chop thing, when in fact all it did was advertise that they'd never know the touch of a woman without exchanging money and/or lice.

Although to be fair, the guys who invented the crotch chop were already millionaires who were on TV in front of 30 million people every week and drowning in poontang to start with when they came up with that. So I guess some young, impressionable people could be forgiven for thinking that if they just imitated that gesture sincerely and to perfection, they too would become rich, famous, and laid. But they ignored all the other variables, such as "Those guys are legit 7 feet tall and have immaculate hair", for example. You can make anything look cool if those are your Starting Stats.

https://media2.giphy.com/media/gINW3MCZodQWI/source.gif

See? When Kevin Nash does it, it's cool. But that's because everything he does is cool, because he's the guy doing it. The guy.
Wears. Leather. PANTS. Without irony. When other people do this kinda stuff, it just looks stupid. He was born a Golden God, therefore he can make anything work, even if it's stupid. There's a whole self-awareness thing going on that I feel like most people who imitate such questionable behavior simply don't take in.

But yeah... "dabbing", that's just... that's just inexcusable.

EDIT: Also, if he'd pulled that above "move" on the Turtles right before he trashed that stupid pier, then "Secret of the Ooze" would immediately be my favorite movie of all time. All else would be forgiven if ol' "Super Shredder" told them to take it downtown right before he went out like a putz. At least that would'a been funny.

Encouraging harassment of a company to get your way. How democratic..but that's social media and America for you.

Animators say this crap all the time, it's their baby, it's hard to let go, but it's rare that a company actually listens to them or the fans. Nick in particular.

Nick bent to fans whims for Hey Arnold (after a decade plus), and while it was great to get closure for that series, there were plans from Craig and the studio to greenlight a sixth season. What happened? The Jungle movie bombed, and the only continuation we've gotten since has been an illustrated instagram serial focusing on Arnold and Helga dealing with the pandemic.

If there was a chance the programme was just 'on hiatus', then why did it's creator post a eulogy for it? That seemed pretty final to me. Chances are if it comes back it might not have him at the helm, or anyone else who worked on it.

Do we need Rise enthusiasts to be on par with Snyder cultists? That money and interest could be put into a much better programme or TMNT incarnation. Rise had all the chances in the world to make an impact, and it didn't deliver. Reality is harsh.

Oh, god forbid that anyone who's two movies deep into a storyline actually ask for the proper third chapter to be released when it was already 70% or more complete in the first place. People complaining about WB actually doing the right thing for once are the ones out of line, not the people who were bait-and-switched into paying for a movie that was not at all the movie the trailers sold them three years ago. The "Justice League" situation is about penance and reparations, don't try and make it into something unseemly. Nobody did anything wrong by asking for the movie they paid to see to actually see the light of day. WB bait-and-switched everyone and paid for it, and now they're trying to "apologize" (for Cynical Business Reasons because there's money to be made). That's all perfectly fine. "The Only Right Thing To Do", even.

C'mon, man, you're better than that. We both hate "Rise" but if people wanna bleat and pester Nickelodeon, let 'em. Let 'em pretend that Nick is suddenly gonna start listening to what people say after 10 years. I agree that in this show's case it's a complete waste of energy because it's not something worth holding onto, but the situations aren't even close to the same thing at all. "We want the product you originally sold us and then lied about" isn't at all the same as "We want more Seasons of a TV show that was cancelled because nobody watched it."

Regardless of anything else... at least more people than could fit in a phone booth wanted Justice League. If "Rise" fans wanna piss in the wind, I ain't gonna stop 'em. Frankly if there were enough of them to make a difference in the first place the show wouldn't have gotten cancelled, so I'm not sweating it if they wanna write emails. Not that it would matter anyway; Nick openly doesn't listen to people, so why would it matter? Let 'em howl.

Anyways, that was not at all your best jab. Bad, awful, terrible analogy. No points this round. I'm with you in spirit but that was just a really weak swing.

Sorry bro, didn't mean to tar and feather EVERY one of the Snyder cut movement, they've done great things and they have valid reasons that were validated over time. My comment was aimed more at the more overly hostile piggybackers that use the movement to express themselves in a toxic manner. There's some bad apples in every fresh fruit basket.

I'm simply not comfortable at all with recent implications that anyone who merely asks to be heard is a whiny bitch, regardless of what they're asking for.

It started with the Sonic movie. But the design was poor! Redesigning it was the RIGHT thing to do! It single-handedly saved the movie, even though it wasted a lot of resources. People said, "This is what we want," studio says "Okay". Movie makes money. ONE GUY in the crowd, though, stood up and shouted "Great. Bullying the studios. Great precedent." And I sighed.

Then it was "Justice League". Regardless of people's opinions on Snyder, the trailers all lied! The theatrical cut was lousy! It wasn't the "real" movie! People paid for something and got something else entirely, and they have every right to be angry. They had every right to be heard. I, personally, never signed or hashtagged a damn thing, because I don't expect it to matter and I'm used to being told my opinions aren't worth squat, so I don't bother. But sometimes it does matter, and that's nice. People are getting the movie they paid for, finally. And again, a few grumblers say, "Well awesome, just whine until you get your way, that's great." Never mind that the studio is who f*cked up and people were well within their rights to voice their displeasure as often as possible, through whatever avenues available, because they paid money to see one thing and got something else entirely, which shouldn't even be legal. Whining? Hardly. Reparations. Dare I say... "Justice". But some people call it "whining" and "bullying", mostly because they just don't care for the director's style and were hoping the whole thing would go away. It's not going away, so they cry foul. They are MAD that someone got what they asked for, for once. Who's the villain THERE? C'mon.

I was raised that if you ask for Coke and they bring you Sprite, you don't drink it with a smile, you say "Excuse me, this isn't what I asked for" and you make them fix it. Otherwise you're just telling people you'll settle for anything. Which makes one a doormat.

Let me be clear, I don't get involved with petitions or movements or email blasts or any of that stuff, regardless of anything, because I personally have better sh*t to do. But at the same time, I will never call anyone a whiner or a bully or a crybaby simply for asking for what they want. It doesn't hurt anyone. I can personally think the thing they're asking for is stupid and pointless, but they're perfectly within their rights to ask regardless of MY opinion on the subject.

This new "I like to bend over for TV and movie studios, and just take what I'm given and never ask for what I want, because if you tell them what you want then that's Whining and Bullying" thing going around the last year or so is horse sh*t. It's not "whining" and it's not "bullying", it's called Democracy. And just about the ONLY good thing about Democracy is that if enough people want something and ask for it, they'll probably get it. That's how the free market operates; you don't dictate what people are supposed to like, you supply to the demand. If there's no demand, then fine, no product. If there IS demand, you can't rightly shut those people down because "They should ask for something else instead."

I do think Rise was stupid, and pointless, and a waste of time and resources, and that anyone who asks for more of it is actively working against what's best for the TMNT brand whether they realize it or not. I agree with you about ALL of that. But it really doesn't matter if I think that; if enough people say they want more, then they might get it.

Far be it from me to argue with that basic concept, just because I hate the show more than I have words to express. People have literally fought and died so these people have the right to at least ask if they can have more of the thing they like. If I call them names over it, just because I hate the thing they like, then guess what? I'm an asshole.

And I am definitely an asshole, but I am not THAT kind of asshole.

I'm not much of a believer in anything, but above all else I have to hold sacrosanct the ideal that anyone has the right to express their opinions and ask for what they want without limit or restriction. If people petition for more episodes of "Rise" and they get it, I can simply continue to not watch it while maintaining that it's keeping the brand in the gutter by aiming so damn low, and they can in turn continue to ignore MY opinion on the subject.

People died for those rights. So goddamn if I'm gonna imply that anyone's being a bully, a whiner or a baby just because they might wanna make a phone call. I can think they're 100% wrong and I can hate their opinion, but I'm definitely not gonna stand in their way or tell them they can't do it.

I fully agree with your point, I just think you went about it in a lousy way. I know that in some parts of the world, asking for something and not shutting up until you get it is called "whining". Over here, we just call that 'Merica. I don't have to like what they ask for, I'm just glad people even get a f*cking voice. That should be celebrated, not scorned.

ZariusTwo

Understood. Can't apologise enough, just a case of letting one or two lousy experiences get the better of me:cry:

It's not "whining" and it's not "bullying", it's called Democracy.

Well argued, I just wish people would use those rights to demand even better from their providers, not just something familiar, not just the same thing that pleased them before, but the opportunity to advance their existing perks, to enhance it, an entirely new experience. With Snyder cut fans, they're at least getting that...i'm talking about Rise fans wanting more of something that simply HASN'T WORKED...not something that has'nt been given a chance TO succeed or fail.

If Rise worked, it would not be in the situation it's presently in. If animators are insisting on unofficial livestreams that it was on it's last chance with the movie, why would it rquire a eulogy from it's creator? If it comes back, would the toyline come back to promote it? I doubt that, merch for this show didn't take off, and the show's job is to promote the toyline. The movie won't have any merch tied in to it, so it's looking to be a loss for the franchise on that end of the spectrum.

People being perfectly OK with what they're given, refusing to fight for better content and wanting more like Rise is what gets my goat. At least with the Synder cut, as you say, there's an unglimpsed product rife with world-building potential for the DC line to come, perhaps the supreme course correction should it do well. Rise? We've taken a glimpse at it's product and it's just not a game changer. It's not even sincere in it's bizareness, it's just a licenced rehash of a thousand similarly styled animated products that infest animation networks daily.

It didn't stand out, it didn't redefine TMNT for anyone, that was the 2012 show's job.

I don't like Nick's 2012 TMNT but it defined TMNT for the last decade and raised the bar to such a degree that it will likely take a decade to probably match it's importance to the current generation.

All's well, Zar, and believe me, it's not you specifically I'm annoyed with. Like I said, it started with the Sonic movie.

That original design was f*cking dogsh*t. People cried foul, the studio caved in. Yaaaaaaay! Awesome. Didn't care to see the movie, but it was nice to see the process actually work. I was happy that others were happy and I liked the new design, which was what it always should have been.

But those one or two chuckleheads... "GREAT, now people are just gonna whine at the studios anytime they don't get their way, like children." Um... good? Like, you should do that if you're unhappy and why is that a bad thing all of a sudden? I didn't get it.

JL, same thing. People weren't pissed that democracy actually prevailed, they were pissed because "Dammit, I hoped I'd heard the last of that Evil Zack Snyder once and for all!" People who hate him can't even hear his name without going into a fit about how he ruined their childhood and raped their mother (who may or may not have been named Martha) and they just didn't wanna hear his name ever again, thus they were "triggered" by the fact that his movie was coming out. "People bullied the studios! What fiends!" C'mon, man, what kinda piece of sh*t do you have to be to defend a f*cking movie studio? A goddamn corporation? Talk about "spin" when you're calling the people who merely asked for the film they paid to see a bunch of nasty names. Sour grapes, nothing more.

It's just a troublesome recent trend I've seen, is all, people complaining about democracy and campaigning actually working once in a rare while. Why complain about a good thing? It proves that sometimes, "They" listen to the common rabble and aren't beyond making concessions and course-corrections. We always cry about how "They" don't listen... and then the few times they do, one or two people wanna cry about it setting a bad precedent. That's not the issue, they're just pissy because something they don't like or care about is going to make someone else happy, and that's petty.

Likewise, if people wanna call or write about more "Rise", more power to 'em. If they get their way, my life goes on. I get to shake my head and sigh, and they can continue ignoring my opinion. Either way, life goes on. Even if it's not what I want, I can't help but be happy whenever a situation arises where a group of people say, "I want this," and the Powers That Be actually reply with, "We hear you." That's empowering. The outcome doesn't have to be in my favor for me to be glad that the system works sometimes.

I mean, opinion-wise, I'm with you. If TMNT fans put that fire in their belly to use on something with more importance and substance than "Rise", that would be nice. The more "Rise" we get, the farther off we are from any sort of "renaissance", and I strongly feel like this whole experiment is going to be filed next to Next Mutation and Turtle Tunes in the "Big Book of TMNT Misfires" when history's had its way. I've always felt that way. I think it took the franchise right into a brick wall and did little but prove to some people that "Yeah, TMNT is really, really, really stupid." Which I don't like, appreciate, or agree with. I think the damage it did to the brand is gonna take years to recover from. I think people should want more and demand more. I do.

But if people like it I can't tell them not to ask for more of it, even if I sincerely wish they'd ask for something else instead. And believe me, I do.

But frankly, I don't even hold them at fault. It's all Nickelodeon. I can't worry about possibly getting more Rise episodes when the next reboot will probably be terrible from a different angle, too, just because the pen-holders have bad priorities. If I had any hope for this franchise, I might care more, but frankly I don't. Sh*t, let "Rise" have another 100 episodes. I still wouldn't watch it, and I'd still expect the next show to be lousy too. So it really doesn't matter. Nick's handling of the brand is fundamentally flawed and their "take" on what TMNT is and should be is totally broken. I'd be more upset about Rise keeping us from getting something better... if I had ANY faith in Nick at all to actually deliver that "Something Better".

In 10 years, Nick's given us one "Meh" cartoon show, one that's either brilliant or godawful depending on who you ask, and two terrible movies. Their TMNT record is complete sh*t, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt any damn way. They are not capable of presenting the brand correctly, because they think it's a kids' property when it is not that at all. Their entire "method" is flawed. You can't grow fruit in poisoned soil.

"Rise" does hold back "progress" by way of its existence. But Rise is merely a symptom. Nick is the disease. Every bad cartoon, every bad movie, is just reinforcement of the fact that They Don't Get It. Do I think it's questionable for people to petition for more "Rise"? Sure, if anything they ought'a be petitioning for Nick to sell the damn brand to WB so we can get something good more than once every 20 years outta this pile'a sh*t, instead of pining for a TV show that wouldn't have gotten canned if more than 100 people even watched it in the first place.

BUT. That ain't gonna happen so anything in the meantime is no skin off my ass. I know what they SHOULD be doing, but... it ain't gonna happen anyway, so "eh".

We really should make a ruckus about WB buying TMNT. That would be awesome.

But to Nick's credit they did open up the toy license which has been very fruitful and they've also allowed IDW the license to print and reprint a lot of cool books. And I think the nick cartoon is a solid product.

But yeah, it hasn't been great, overall, and WB would probably spoil us with all types of adult-oriented fare.

Probably for the best, though. He'd be cackling like a jackal since he's been saying for 8 months or whatever that Rise was over with.

This! I've always wanted something to not lean so heavily on FW but it's not enough to just be different. It sucks how some people act like you must either join the "More FW" camp or the "Be different" camp without a middle ground option or any context of what we're getting ourselves into if we join either side. It's basically "pick your poison." I know when I want to give things a chance but first impressions are everything to me.

When a show is put on Nicktoons. is the final nail of the coffin.

Sadly I never really got into the show early on due to how it was aimed at a younger audience. I have a couple of episodes that my Tivo recorded when the show used to air on regular Nickelodeon. But I never got around to watching them. There are ways I could watch the show on Nicktoons if I wanted to. But it will end up costing more doing so. I did that when the final episodes of 2k12 were moved to that channel. and I wanted to see them. So I end up paying for a subscription in SlingTV just to see them. But I was paying too much just to watch one channel. I really wish they give an option just to pay for 1 channel because I don't really need the others.

To be honest it always felt like Rise was intended to be a short stop-gap cartoon between the 2012 series and whatever came next. I mean Rise debuted in 2018 and only 2 years later in 2020 its already over. The show barely lasted 2 years, hell it would have lasted far less if there weren't such a huge hiatus of reruns breaks all the time too.

If I remember right Ciro said the 2012 series was greenlit for 5 seasons when it first started, so they knew it was going to last a long time. I wonder why they didn't give Rise the same treatment, like even before it debuted.

Shh. Considering how that CGI movie sounds at the moment... the major focus being on the "teenage" part would just get us 'Rise' minus mystic stuff. >.>

This! I've always wanted something to not lean so heavily on FW but it's not enough to just be different. It's basically "pick your poison." I know when I want to give things a chance but first impressions are everything to me.
Also this.

Many people have long repeated their reasons for not liking 'Rise' that has nothing to do with the FW show, but "you don't like it because it's not FW!" still continues to be the easy (or should we say lazy) go-to response with their real reasons ignored.

I've never seen someone say they don't like 'Rise' because it isn't FW enough. I dunno, maybe if one searches for it there are casual viewers out there who are only familiar with that show and think that, but their opinion hardly matters nor applies to most long term fans.

I will always like the FW show for what it is. BUT the only show I want to be that show, is that show.

Even if someone did try to bring that show back, something would inevitably be off about it and unappealing anyhow, because that style of show was authentic for its time period, while now it would just seem forced and fake to purposely try to mimic it. (Case in point, when we see 2012's attempt at them in 2D when they're sitting on that rooftop and the worm breaks through into their universe. It was a decent try, but something is still just off about it imo.)

What I want next but probably won't get:
A moderately mature (because we're unlikely to get a fully mature one) serious, half hour, serialized 2D show with designs that lean more toward the the type of visual aesthetics of shows like 2003, not pointy, neon bubble gum Nicktoons, with only well timed, natural humor sprinkled in where appropriate and without any of the stupid antics.

Totally open to new stories and not just rehashing everything all over again (because that does get old)... so long as it's the normal TMNT who are doing it.

I'm of a belief that most versions can at least bring something to the franchise worth keeping. In the case of 'Rise,' it's definitely bringing Mikey back from the brink of idiocy and toning Raph's temper down. Though Raph is a bit bland without that fire, so personally...maybe bring back some of the sarcasm and snarky traits as a replacement. (But for the love of god, let poor Leo an Donnie go back to their normal selves.)

Draxum might be one worth seeing again, and expanded on because ultimately 'Rise' sort of wasted the potential he had as a villain. Same for Mayhem IF there is ever a reasonable place to bring that critter back. Because wow, this show just totally forgot about him.

Most people probably aren't even aware this show existed. Movies always have more mainstream/casual appeal/knowledge, so the Michael Bay movies will definitely always be the most hated.

It's in the same manner that had Venus never existed, and Next Mutation was just the 4 Turtles, most people would probably never remember the show happened. It only ran for 1 season in 1997, the sole thing it's remembered for is the first female Turtle, Venus.

Here?s a slightly off-topic question. What do you think will go down and be disliked more in the future: Next Mutation, Rise or Out of the Shadows?

Well...

In an objective sense, The Next Mutation is easily the worst one of these. It's over reliant on stock footage, the suits/puppets are not convincing, the editing makes it hard to follow what's going on, there are way too many sound effects and there's no appearent reason as to why they dubbed over the human characters. It really is an unwatchable mess. The thing is though... Have you heard of the 1988 Superman cartoon? Probably not. I suspect that the Next Mutation is sort of in the same boat, short-lived and few noticable fans seem to exist. It is probably forgotten about outside of the TMNT fanbase.

Out of the Shadows is an awful movie. It really deserves the hate it gets and I doubt whatever magic it had to make some fans will be lost on repeated viewings. While more people certainly know about it, I'm not sure the hate will ever be quite as strong as for the Next Mutation as there are still people who like it (for some reason). It's not so much a question about how much people will hate it, as it is how many people hate it.

Rise... When I ignore my own biases of what I like to see and look at how other people react to the show... I don't know?
On one hand: The show has very little to do with what anyone expected from TMNT, a lot of the content is really stupid and it could benefit from more world building, or at least taking things a bit more slowly.
On the other hand: The animation is nice, as it is rather energetic. Characters don't just disappear because the toys just needed one episode to get marketed. The story seems rather free of the "make it up as you go along" factor. And... I must admit... The jokes were actually funny, which is more than I can say about any other iteration that attempted to be funny.

The direction Rise decided to go in with it's world, story and tone is not in any way, shape or form what I think TMNT should be. And I don't think anyone should use it as a primary basis in the future. But... It's not exactly trash. Fred Wolf, Secret of the Ooze, TMNT III, The Next Mutation and the PD movies are trash. Rise is... Like getting a hammer when you ask for a wrench. It's not what I expected, It's not what I needed, It's not what I wanted and it was a waste of time to give me one but it's suited for something else.

Maybe if the approach was applied to something like Plastic Man it would have worked better?

The thing is though... Have you heard of the 1988 Superman cartoon? Probably not.

Ruby-Spears "Superman"! It's quite good for what it is, although definitely a product of its time and thus trapped by the limitations of most contemporary cartoons of the era.

Very unfortunate that it didn't have a better run, but it cost a lot of money to make and didn't have a toy line to go along with it, so it didn't get renewed. Very sad. Given its extremely short run of episodes, along with the high licensing fees, it was never replayed at all in syndication, thus most people have never seen or heard of it since every episode only aired twice at the absolute most, and probably not even that. Those who have seen it generally have a very positive opinion of it, although expectations should be adjusted accordingly for a Saturday morning cartoon from 1988, obviously.

A real "hidden gem" of the Superman franchise. I encourage anyone curious to check out the DVD since you can watch the entire series in an afternoon. I'm long overdue for a re-watch, myself... thanks for reminding me!
---------------

I'm torn on the "What's going to be remembered worse?" question, because I do encounter people in real life and online who absolutely swear by the BayTurtles movies. I'm not convinced that they'll be as hated as they deserve to be. I like to think so, and the fact that there's dozens of copies of each in the $5 bin at Walmart right now makes me smile, but I honestly don't know. Some people love 'em.

They tend to fit a "type": Swear they love the FW cartoon but haven't watched it in 30 years. "Secret of the Ooze" was their favorite TMNT movie. Every cartoon since then was "trash". And their favorite thing about the PD films is "It's stupid like TMNT is supposed to be!"

I'm adamant that they shouldn't be allowed to call themselves "fans" - how can you be a fan of something you've ignored for three decades and only like the "bad" versions of?! - but the fact is they do exist. So those movies might go down in history with a better reputation than they deserve. I HOPE not, but we'll see.

The problem with TMNT is there are different universes with the comics, movies, and animated series.

for a new animated show. They can either or. Do a series based on the Seth Rogen animated movie. Or a series based on IDW. One of the biggest issues I have is continuity. Like you watch a TV show and then they make a movie of that show without the same actors.

There was a period where they did Star Trek movies with the casts of the TV shows. and that was good for continuity. Seeing these characters grow throughout the years.

The problem with TMNT right now. and its been like this since the beginning. Was that they didn't stick to the formula of using the same characters from a show or movie. and we end up with a different universe of the TMNT all the time. Every time they rebooted it. They always go back to the beginning about being a teenager rather then see them grow to mature adults. Me as a fan want to see these characters grow along with you.

But they keep messing this up by starting all over again. Its the reason why I like the IDW comics. Its been around since 2011 and all the Turtles are maturing. and I find that more relatable because you can't be teenagers forever.

I feel like they should drop the Teenage from the name and just call it Mutant Ninja Turtles. But they probably have to keep the Teenage in the name due to name recognition.

They should start out as teens. But you also have to take into account the passage of time. As the years go by the turtles will age to the point they are young adults.

Here?s a slightly off-topic question. What do you think will go down and be disliked more in the future: Next Mutation, Rise or Out of the Shadows?

Well for me it's a tie between Next Mutation and Out of the Shadows but I would go slightly towards Next Mutation. Say what you want to say about the Bay Turtles at least Out of Shadows sort seem like they were trying this time compare to the first movie. Not to mention they introduced Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang to the Big Screen for the first time ever. Next Mutation I feel like was the worst it introduce Venus a bland character with a origin that makes no sense given this movie is suppose to "loosely" follow after the 1990's movies continuity. At least Out of the Shadows had some good moments in it like the fight on the plane and in the river.

IndigoErth

Why you gotta pose impossible questions? lol

The plus of Next Mutation and the PD films are that they existed for a short time. They happened, did their thing, and went away quickly, so outside of the period of discussion before and after, they otherwise could be put away quickly by those who want to pretend they never happened.

A cartoon, even one that just had its second season cut in half, still was "the thing" for TMNT on tv for two years, give or take.

Plus side of Rise and PD, better production value. Down side...they spent some of that money on stupid stuff.

Down side of Next Mutation.... bad production value, and of course also spent it on stupid stuff.

Plus point for NM and PD, the Turtles and Splinter were relatively portrayed as the characters we know and love, design choices aside. Negative for Rise, they weren't.

Negative points for all for going into "wtf is happening" territory.

Time will tell and I'm sure opinion will vary, as usual.

The PD movies will the most hated for the reasons already mentioned. Not just OotS. Both. I did not enjoy them but I agree they do not really deserve it. I can see effort was put into them but they were not well constructed and did not do the FW elements justice.

Oh and FW and Soto are most definitely NOT trash. It is one of best action cartoons of its time and the movie was still quite entertaining even though they went more lighthearted. Super Shredders death made no sense. Thats my only gripe.

In all seriousness, it was a very small part so they literally only shot his scene in like, 8 hours maximum. I *think* it was over two days but I'm fuzzy on that. Like a Friday/Saturday thing. They only needed a couple of wide shots and a couple of close-ups. Had nothing to do with money, was just, it's a complete "nothing" scene. And as I mentioned elsewhere, they weren't exactly going "all-in" with the camera work, anyway. The whole movie is very "open the lens, get the shot, move on."

They shot that part in an afternoon simply because that's all that the scene required. BUT, that's 100% on the writers for not knowing how the f*ck to end the movie properly. The entire "plot" feels like they were making it up as they went along and completely ran out of ideas after "...And then, Vanilla Ice!" After that, they just "vamped" until the credits. What a waste.

One has to think that if they knew for a fact that a mere three years later he'd be one of the most famous athletes in the world, they would have actually scripted the guy to get some f*cking offense in. Which makes that scene very annoying to watch. Granted, hindsight is everything, but still. They had one of the best "stunt fighters" in the entire entertainment business as the Big Bad of their little movie, didn't even know it, and proceeded to let him do NOTHING. All because they didn't know how to properly script a fight scene. To be fair, ALL the fight scenes in that movie were bad, but that was the worst by default because Nothing Happened.

I have a theory the costumes were fragile, and thus the contact for the entire film was cut down to nothing in order to save money. But still, that's some nonsense. I have no proof of this, but it makes sense to me. Why else are all the fight scenes so barren of actual fighting? Like hardly anybody even hits anybody for the entire movie. Booooo!

For the sake of comparison, let's look at Nash in The Punisher, which came out when he was back in WWE making a million dollars a year and was one of the most sought-after "stunt fighter" actors in Hollywood during that time:
9izyQ7zdE2Y

Can you imagine if the Super-Shredder scene was scripted to play out like THAT? It might've redeemed the entire movie!

Notice how he not only gets to fight, but pretty much beats the movie's lead character half to death with his bare hands and only loses by dumb luck. A much better use of resources. Granted, his stock had risen considerably by 2003. But still. It shows what he can bring to a fight scene when the people making the movie know what the f*ck they're doing.

TMNT II isn't one of my favorite movies for many reasons. But they wasted Kevin Nash. He got rich off it, so fine, but still. Guy's an animal. How do you hire him to do a "fight scene" and then not even let him do anything? Morons. Unforgivable.

Leo656, Ya if he actually interacted with the turtles it would have been awesome.

Even something along the lines of...turtles lure him underneath a structure (not made of wood) and destroy the supports to crush him. Would have given the turtles something to do while still keeping his death the same. If they could not rewrite it.

I have read the movie went through variations and changes but I think thats true for most everything.

Edit: Did not mean to go off topic. I know theres a dedicated Soto thread.

Ha, I didn't watch Punisher, but I remember WWE made a mint ticket out of booking an excuse for Kevin's crew cut, losing his locks in a match with Jericho on RAW. He wasn't much longer for WWE after that

It's a good flick, I recommend it. It's maybe a bit too "soft" for Punisher, some say, but there's a lot of good action scenes and for the year it came out it was one of the darkest and most violent comic book films ever made up to that point. Jane was great. There's a *bit* too much comedy, but only by a hair. It does a very good job of adapting certain Punisher stories from the comics extremely faithfully. Travolta's death scene almost ruins it, but even he's good for 99% of the movie. You should give it a spin!

Then check out the "kinda sequel, mostly reboot" film, "Punisher: War Zone", which is ALSO a near-perfect adaptation of The Punisher, with an astronomical kill count and tons and tons and TONS of gore and creative kills. The cast aside from the guy playing Punisher is straight-up amateur hour, and they had a low budget, but it's a lot of fun and really nails the books, particularly the hyper-violent Garth Ennis stuff.

Both movies do a good job from entirely different angles, but they both feel like The Punisher. The first one, people said was a bit too fluffy; the second one, people said was way too violent and grim. Which kinda tells me that people just don't know WHAT they want.

But yeah, my favorite thing about the first one was, as soon as "The Russian" busts through the door, some guy in the back of the theater yelled "Holy sh*t it's Kevin Nash!" No joke, that scene, and everything he did, got a bigger pop out of the packed house than anything else in the entire movie. Dude was "over like Rover, brotherrrrr." And that's a shoot!

But yeah, can you imagine? Just look at that fight scene, with him being this Unstoppable Force, no-selling everything from getting stabbed in the chest to smashed with a pipe, and imagine if THAT kinda sh*t was in the Super-Shredder scene. TMNT II would gain a hundred points automatically, just if those couple of minutes were More Like This. What a waste.

Fun Trivia Fact: Jericho and Vince were pissed at Nash for bleaching his hair right before the Hair vs. Hair match with Jericho, because it gave away the finish for anyone living under a rock who didn't know he was gonna leave to go make Punisher. Nash's logic was, "Well if I went to the trouble of dying my hair, the fans are gonna think I care too much about it to ever cut it!" Jericho countered with, "You dyed it the most unsightly, piss-bleach yellow color anyone's ever seen, so OF COURSE you're gonna cut it because no human being would ever leave the house looking like that." Points to Jericho on that one.
-------------

Nash makes ALL things on-topic by default, Wildcat. He'd much rather we talk about him than a dead cartoon show, anyway. Did you know he was in The Longest Yard?

Just for fun, here he is fighting Jamie Pressley in the "Dead Or Alive" movie. This was his favorite scene to shoot in the film, because as he explained to me, "She's pretty f*ckin' hot."

Leo656

I forgot to ask but I kinda don't think so. You never see his face in the movie, for one thing. He was essentially a glorified stuntman, who later got himself a shark agent and negotiated a helluva residuals deal for the DVDs. But I don't think he snagged the action figure rights. I doubt anyone in the movie got paid for action figures, honestly.

Although if anyone could've, he would've. I just kinda doubt it. Although, if he did, then the to-date figure he told me makes even more sense. People get paid SO MUCH money for action figures based on their likeness, man, you have no idea. Especially wrestlers and such. That's partly how guys who haven't been on TV in 25 years still have giant houses, as long as they played it smart and didn't piss their money away on blow. Those action figures are the sweetest goddamn plum. If you're very famous you can bank a million in royalties off of your very first action figure. If you're a guy like Nash, and have had dozens of them... well suddenly him having millions of dollars in "F*ck you" money in the bank and a giant house makes a ton of sense. Dude's probably made at least $50 million between 1994 and today, maybe a lot more. He certainly doesn't HAVE that much, but he's earned that much. I know what guys get for those damn action figures, it's obscene.

But yeah, nah, he probably doesn't get the Super Shredder toy money. I've often wondered, but forgot to ask him. I'm sure he doesn't sweat it. By my count he's had... at least 25-30 action figures, dolls, and statues made in his likeness, from everyone from Jakks Pacific to Toy Biz. Not to mention being in dozens of video games as himself, also extremely lucrative. He's constantly getting paid from something. He's one of he smartest guys in the game. Like literally; supposedly his IQ is just below "Genius" level. So it makes sense that he's a smooth operator and a savvy businessman. Even guys who don't get along with him concede that he's one of the sharpest cats you'd ever meet. He's just very open about being all "Kev takes care of Kev", and that bothers some people.

So anyways, no, he probably doesn't get the money for the Super Shredder toys, but really... I don't think he even "needs" it by this point. He'd get it if he could, though, you can believe that! I just don't think it works like that, with characters based on movies. If they don't show your face then you don't get paid any merch royalties.

He's fine. I bet he's gonna get himself a Super Shredder figure anyway, just because he's a cheeky bastard.

He calls them "Dolls", though, and not "action figures." That really bothers me. I hate when guys do that.

Season 2 came up a little short, it's possible that the "Movie" is just the last 13 episodes edited together... Although that would would make for a 4.5 hour movie, so if that's the case it'll probably be more like 3 or 4 "movies". It's also possible that Rise was never made under the assumption that it would go on for more than two seasons, so the movie was always intended to cap it off?

As for why the 2012 cartoon doesn't have a movie? Not sure. Maybe because the CGI is kind of ugly and updating the models to merely have better textures is seen as a waste? Maybe because Nickelodeon gave up on that series when they rebooted? Maybe because the storyline is kind of crap and hard to follow up on? Hard to tell.

I guess Nick probably just wanted 2012 out of the way of their big new flashy thing, but it's weird that this one gets it.

Yeah and I'm pretty positive there's more demand for a 2012 based movie than there is a third season of Rise. I can only imagine somewhere in production of Season 2, Nick realized that the series wasn't a financial success and decided to cut it shorter. And even if this series was to go on before this decision was made, nothing would've really changed of it and Raph would still remain the leader until the last episode anyway which would've made it even more painful for those who really wanted to see Leo take over.

The off chance that there will be another season, the show would still remain the same except for the fact that Leo is now the leader, is trying to take the role more seriously now, and that Raph is now the angry one. Fans might get a taste of this for the Netflix film depending on if it takes place after the series finale.

Rise got a movie because it was meant to be the next big show, bigger than 2012 which didn't reach the heights Nickelodeon wanted to so it ended it. That's why it got a second season green lighted and was part of the Netflix viacom deal, a movie for their next big TMNT show. Obviously the backlash made them rethink their decision and they cut short the second season which if Viacom hadn't had such high hopes for the show it likely would've never happened in the first place had they done a wait and see approach. The Netflix deal had already been done so that's why it's still getting a movie. Contracts.

I don't blame them, they only found out 3 days ago that the season was cut short and officially cancelled. Nickelodeon never said anything and they didn't even confirm it being the season final, the fans only found out from the creators

When the the final episode titles came out 2 weeks ago, it was speculated it could be the mid season final or the next chapter in the turtles lives. So it was a huge shock to them that it was actually the season final.

But I expect the save rise fans will die down, these things never work. It only worked for Young Justice because DC getting there own streaming service.

I find them both quite good! And I think both actors totally captured the essence of the Punisher character. I like Jane a little better but they both were perfect for the role in different ways.

Should you give War Zone a shot, just keep certain things in mind: They shot it for very little money, and that shows. It doesn't "ruin" the experience, but it affects everything. The cast, outside of Punisher himself, are generally not great by objective standards. But it's still fun to watch. It got ripped apart because of the acting and the low budget, and that's all valid. But it squarely bangs the nail on what it's trying to do, all the same.

It's a comic book movie that totally focuses more on capturing the essence of the Punisher comic than it does anything else. And it does that very well. The acting isn't great and the effects are "serviceable". But if you read Ennis's Punisher comics, and say "Man, if only a movie went balls-out into that kinda territory," well, that's the movie. It doesn't get any more "Punisher" than that movie there. It's unapologetic about being what it is, even if what it is is objectively kinda "Eh" outside of being a bloodbath.

I just love it for what it is and ignore the rest. They weren't trying to make a "good movie", just a Good Punisher Movie, which by default would have to be a "bad movie" if we're being honest. There's never gonna be a more "faithful" Punisher movie even if there end up being ones that are much better acted, written, and staged. That much I feel pretty certain of.

Without being a misogynist - even though I kinda am  - but I cannot get over the fact that a woman directed it. Blows my goddamn mind. You just don't usually get this kinda movie from one'a them, y'know? I admire that. Felt like she went into the project with something to prove. "Not enough gore! STAB 'EM THROUGH THE WINDPIPE!" Kudos for that. Took courage.

Its going to be a while until we get another TMNT show. I think Nickelodeon is going to wait and see how the animated movie from Seth Rogen is going to turn out. And then decide on what the next series is going to be.

This animated movie could have the potential of influencing Nickelodeon's decision for the next animated series in the future.

On one hand it sucks that it will likely be a while. On the other hand, I had wanted a new series to happen soon after 2012 and got my wish only to regret it...so maybe it's for the best if it has time to cool off and contemplate something better.

-----------

Not enough of a "new generation" bought into it, so maybe it's time to look in the opposite direction...

I'm not sad it's done, and the fact that the remaining eps would likely have been nonsense just makes me feel indifferent to never seeing them. However, fans of this one (at least those who didn't try to fight with critics of it), do have my sympathy, as it's terrible how a company will just do it this abruptly, having acted like things were fine (despite some obvious clues like the end of the toys), when they've had to know for a while. At least let people know it's coming and early enough that they aren't just suddenly slapped upside the head with the news.

Maybe if some scripts for unproduced eps exist they'll surface later. I could see that and fanart based on it being a thing. I wouldn't mind seeing what fans could do with that.

So Indigo, now that it's all over, serious question:

You clearly didn't like the show. Yet you endured. Kudos on your grit and perseverence, but... why? I've been observing from afar, and you were clearly not having any fun this entire time. So I confess, I don't understand it.

Was it simply obligation? "It's TMNT, so I'll hold my nose and suffer through"? Or did you actually, for whatever reason, expect it to get any "better", even once it became clear that wasn't the case?

I honestly don't understand how either motivation could be enough to motivate someone to endure something so obviously painful for them to get through. But I confess, I'm curious. Genuinely.

To me, watching people who hated the show watch it anyway, unfailingly and devotedly, was like watching someone put their hand on a hot stove and keep it there, convincing themselves that if they just hold on a little longer, it won't hurt so bad, and might even start to feel good.

I knew what it was after ten minutes and decided the hot stove was more inviting. Never looked back. But that's me. So I'm wondering, if you knew what it was, and didn't like what it was... why the devotion?

Keep in mind, it doesn't make one a bad person for choosing to watch the show. I just don't understand the motivation, even a little bit. Help me!

I am getting some pleasure on twitter watching all the rise fans whine and cry begging for a season 3 on twitter. Guess I am a sick son of a bitch  Drinking their tears I should say

It's a lot funnier that miserable developmentally challenged manchildren literally couldn't function for 2 years because of a kids show that never wanted them as a fan anyway. Letting it live rent free in that little toilet you call a brain cavity.

"Drinking their tears" I've got douche chills.

SHOW ME THE RULE, UMP!!!

It literally says on the header, "A Place To Discuss The 2018 cartoon."

"Discuss" means Discuss. It does NOT mean "Universally fawn over."

You lefties with your unabashed hatred for freedom of speech make ME sick. You don't go around telling people they're not allowed to talk, Nancy. Get a clue.

Form a Private Group and only allow people who liked the show to join it, if people saying they didn't like it (and WHY) is "Not Allowed". Like the ten people who liked BayTurtles did.

Otherwise, f*ck off with that noise. People can say what they wanna say. You ain't the pontiff, kid.

Yes, you're perfect as always, you sexy beast, you.

Because unlike people who loved this show, you're literate. :trazz:

I'm razzing, but f*ck it, if y'all are gonna get salty, then you're gonna have to deal with The King. And history shows, y'all ain't got the skin for it. So watch your f*cking mouths or zip it. Nobody told you not to like your show, but if you're gonna go around telling people they can't say why they didn't, then Hoooo BOY are we gonna have some f*ckin' problems up in here.

In fairness, Benz's celebratory jig was vulgar and not necessary. But that's just the way that guy is, I don't condone that sh*t either. MOST people are just saying what they didn't like and not necessarily dancing on the grave, though.

Hmm... I suppose it's 10% glutton for punishment, 70% curiosity of what's going on with the Turtles for better or for worse, and 20% wanting to know just how dumb this can go and dumb optimism that it might fix itself even though I knew it probably would not, with the added benefit of knowing when it's over. More-so someone threw our boys on the hot stove and it's hard to just ignore them frying up there.

Although a kids show getting cut short sounds like it kind of needed said fans, because the kids sure didn't keep it afloat.

Interesting. You realize, of course, that by not liking the show and saying so out loud, you're now an Awful Person according to most people in this subforum? Are you prepared for that? :trazz:

I, personally, never loved anything so much I'd sit through things I can't stand just to get my fix. I bit my tongue for two years on this situation. Figure I may as well get it out of my system now, while it's appropriate (or at least timely). Rest assured, this show will never, ever be a regular topic of discussion for me after this week, more than likely.

In the meantime, it feels good to vent the spleen, finally. Don't worry, kittens, once I've "purged" you won't have to deal with it anymore. I left you alone for two years. When have I EVER held my breath for that long? Don't accuse ME of having no restraint, I won't stand for it. :trazz:

I at least hope it continues from where we left off since they know they aren't getting a third season. I'd hope they'd want to conclude things. Since they don't have enough time to screw around with lets please take time and show Leo evolve into a leader and other important events happen. Sounds like the episodes after the final would have been full of silliness, after Leo being given the official leader you would think they'd want to start off with that :/

Way to raise the bar for discourse.

You have literally no place to say anything about standards for respectful or constructive conversation. You threatened to kill or physically harm the show runners & still can't come to terms with why that would garner a temp-ban. Even now you are making literal threats against anyone who takes issue with your attack on this series & its fans. You go to great lengths to flaunt your physical prowess as a wrestler & convey the idea that you solve differences with violence, so why then should it not be perceived as a credible threat? Good God, the lack of self awareness in this dump is astounding. I was a jerk-off about the Bay film, but after I was asked by Machi to knock it off, I did, & later matured past needing to take out the rage of my personal life on a f*cking toy commercial. You waste so much time writing these colorful novels of self-aggrandizing vitriol, if you put that drive & creativity toward something productive you would be a much happier person. All this running in circles, celebrating in an immensely negative & infantile way. Of course people will take issue with it. You guys are showing up drunk with baseball bats to our loved-one's funeral. & this isn't a remotely political issue, c'mon, leave that noise at the curb. Deja & myself are the furthest thing from SJW's. It's not about suppressing free speech, it's about culling a certain level of gate-keeping true-fan crap that just spits on the grave of this website.

Leo656

Dark Jokes are not "threats", pal. Waaaaay back in the day, you USED to understand that.

You have a sense of humor when it's things you don't like. Don't take this situation so personally just because it's something you DO like.

Nobody "threatened" anyone. Don't get pissy because I have a very Irish sense of humor, m'kay? This is the sh*t we laugh at. Dead babies and funerals. We're sick. So what?

You're getting crabby in your old age.

FYI, the Mod who Banned me over said "threats" was very open that they thought it was funny, "got" the joke, understood my intent, and didn't even wanna hit me with the Temp Ban but had no choice in the matter because Ant f*cking Ward threatened legal action over a JOKE.

If that's your hero, you can keep him. Frankly, if I'm ever in the same room with Ant Ward, that balding, bearded bitch, I'll call him a pussy right to his face just to watch him cry about it. It'd be fun. It's fun to watch a grown-ass man threaten to call his lawyer because some rando on a message board made fun of his cartoons. He's a Nancy. Maybe now that he's got some free time, he can go looking for his balls in the jar under the sink.

Also, I meant you AND Benz with that quoted statement. What he said was dumb, but your reply was not any more mature than the dumb sh*t he said was. You're both silly. Silly!

You asked me two years ago to bite my tongue. Out of respect for you, and as a "friend", I did that. For Two. YEARS. So again, don't accuse me of having zero restraint. I am the very EMBODIMENT of "restraint." But I'm not gonna swallow every thought I ever had on the subject for the rest of my goddamn life. It's unfair to even ask that of me.

The thread title doesn't say "Funeral". It says "Rise Is Cancelled". There's no rules attached. People are talking. If you wanna hold a wake, that's fine. But it's probably better to do so privately, not in front of the whole world where you KNOW for a fact people are gonna throw water balloons.

Exercise some common sense before throwing stones at others, please.

Once more, once my spleen is vented, I'm done with the subject. Try and weather the storm, if your heart can take it.

This is bothering me, now. I can't help it.

If after almost 20 years, even one person thinks I LITERALLY have a crawlspace full of dead hookers or hit people with DDTs on concrete when they annoy me, then they never got the joke in the first place. And that says more about Them than Me.

Remember way back in the day when Eminem explained that he doesn't actually go around beating up women and cutting throats, he just says it because it's funny and helps him let his stress out? People love that guy. They understand. They get the joke. *I* don't like him, but other people do, and I admire him for not compromising his principles or censoring himself just because his sense of humor makes some people uncomfortable. It's not his fault Madchild is way better at rapping than he is.

I'm much better looking than Eminem is, so I demand that people give me the same empathy and understanding when I amuse myself by talking about stacking bodies in the basement over minor annoyances. If HE can do the same gimmick, why can't I?

It's because I'm white, probably. Well JOKE'S ON YOU, kids; Irish people ain't "white", we're translucent. And that's a totally different thing.

SO HUH.
