Will the old toon/NM ever air again?

They started showing the 1st movie over here in cinemas a few weeks back, uncut. I think it's gonna be likely that they might bring back the NM on here, but I'm not sure about the old cartoons.

I heard that Hallmark owns the TV rights to the old show. Either no one is interested to buy them, or the price is so high they don't think it's worth it. Give it time, most old cartoons return to TV after a while.

Fox Kids in the UK started showing The Real Ghostbusters back in December, and given the fact they have shown TNM and are currently showing the new TMNT, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they started showing the old one.

Yeah, you just gotta give it some time, for those series to age significantly enough so that their price tag comes down. I mean, they're still original series that started it all. Just look at the G1 TFs. Same story - you'd think that a 20 year old series can be reaired now, but I'm pretty certain that it would cost too much even today to reair all of it. But I'm also pretty sure that if it did air, people would watch it again and TMNT too.

Not too sure on that one. It was only released in a select few cinemas but I expect anyone who went to see the movie was either:

- Huge TMNT fan
- Child who's been watching the new series and wasn't aware of the older incarnations

No doubt it was rereleased to cash in on the new series, but finally we got the uncut version :)

I'm hoping for a proper R2 dvd release now, with plenty of extras (there has to be some behind the scenes stuff lying about for them to use).

Yes it is, they also own The Filmation library. Stuff like Ghostbusters (Not the one based on the movie) masters of the universe (Classic) Fat Albert etc.

Oh, is the Ghostbusters that one cartoon with the new people? Like Ghostbuster Extreme or something. I was to young, and don't know much about the original Ghostbusters, but I like that cartoon with the students.

No, actually it's the very first rendition of the ghostbusters and finding info on it on the internet is next to impossible :cry:

It featured Two Ghostbusters, and a Gorilla as the stars.
It was invinted in the 70s, but I remember watching it when He-Man, She-Ra, etc would air when I was a kid. Oh and Bravestarr is another one.

^ Yup, there was a Ghostbusters live-action show (nout to do with the movie) with a monkey before the Ghostbusters movie came along. When they made the movie they managed to work an agreement so they could use the name 'ghostbusters' but when the cartoon came out they had to alter it, hence 'The Real Ghostbusters'. The Filmation Ghostbusters even made a cartoon in the 80s to cash in on the Ghostbusters success.

That might be thinking a little too hopeful. The only extra on the R1 disc is the original trailer. There IS tons of stuff they could use, but they have yet to use it.

Uncut version? I heard some Utrom scenes were cut from the second movie, what was cut from the original?

Also to rephrase my question, do you think the two previous versions of the TMNT will be re-realised on DVD?

Well the original series is suppoused to be released on DVD at some point, but I think in the US it's just the mini series, I'm not sure on that though.

As for Next Mutation, I wouldn't count on it. We are suppoused to pretend it never happened.

As for what was cut from the movie, it was basically anything with the nunchuks in (I still can't spell that, lol!). People over here believed them to be too 'mature' for us lot so in the UK all scenes with them in or being used were cut, fore example:

- Mikey swinging them whilst ordering pizza
- the stand off between Mikey and the foot soldier
- the end where they throw the weapons over the side. You don't see the nunchuks land on the ladder, and you miss the whole bit where Splinter is using them to hold onto Shredder. Instead he just goes flying over the top straight into the truck.

They even cut scenes like that from the cartoon. The UK opening misses out the brief bit of Mikey swinging them about, and instead of showing all four of them in darkness before showing the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' logo, it pauses on Mikey and the 'Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles' logo fades into view, looking very dodgy. I always thought it looked a bit strange, and now I know why :)

How ironic, so it's okay for the British Government to legalise there stockpile of nuclear missiles (Weapons that can vaporise a city in an instant) but it's not okay or a TV show/movie (Fantasy stuff) to use a of set of smaller and less deadly weapons.
