In the Mirage comics/new series April was Baxter Stockman's assistant, but when she learned too much, Baxter sicked his mouser robots on her. In the old series/movies she works for the news media and thus has no ties to Baxter. Which one of her jobs do you prefere? I kinda prefere scientist April over reporter April, I mean c'mon doesn't this girl have a life besides trying to get a story? And anyway, the media never shows you any decent news.

Being a reporter, she was the turtles link to the out side world, she could follow leads that the turtles couldn't that as a reporter doesn't raise the question of "who the snooping red head is." The glory hound was a bit much in the classic cartoon, I think the movie handled April's personalty best, a dedicated journalist who's loyalty to the turtles come before a story.

I liked movie April best. That is what she should have been like in the cartoon, not some story hound. And, yeah, I prefer reporter April, since then she can help the turtles by feeding them news tips. We already have one techno genius in Don, we don't need another in my opinion.

Even though it was annoying at times, I prefer the news reporter April over the lab assistant one.
In my opinion, April (as I have come to know her over the years) just doesn't work for me as a lab assistant. She doesn't even dress the part! Of course, I grew up consuming healthy portions of the old cartoon, so I'm naturally going to have a bias for news reporter April! :D

I'm gonna go with a couple of other people, and say that movie April was the best. She was a reporter which can come in a lot handier than a former lab assistant, but she wasn't too obssesed with it like she was in the old toon.

Like everyone else, I like her portrayel in the first movie the best. I'm not even going to start on how much they ruined her character in the Secret of the Ooze. :dead:

Stockman's assitant which is used in the new show.
In the past I always seen April as a News lady. But in 2002 I learned he true job. either one of them is fine. Today i'm more connected to the new April which is an Antique shop owner or some other new job that will be in the future episodes.

You'd have to be pretty blind NOT to notice the bond between them now.

:-? What did they do to her is the sequel? I know they changed actresses, but I thought the second April did a fine job with the role.

It's not the actress or her acting, it was the script for the movie that ruined the character. It was as if the writers just crammed her into the plot. Her role was almost totally pointless, except for letting the TMNT shack up at her apartment in the beginning.
I thought the actress from the first movie was better looking btw.

I though TMNT2 April was cuter... though she didn't look so good in TMNT3. Maybe it was the short hair that messed her up?

Well, she did do the story on TGRI, which led to Splinter showing the canister to the turtles, which led to them going to the TGRI building and discovering Shredder's goons taking the last canister. Plus she was the link used to get the message to the turtles to go to the abandoned warehouse to fight shredder at the end. I think she had a fairly important role in it.

I'm not sure if it was her "report" on TGRI that led Splinter to show them the canister.
I prefer the original version of April.
I've got no problem with Reporter April, but compared to Mirage April, she's incredibly one-dimensional. All she wants is the scoop, the story, blah...! The original April was a three-dimensional person with feelings and emotions and was the focus of interesting stories. There's really no competition, in my eyes.
Of course, Reporter April, like most of the old show, is still fun stuff. It's just a very different kind of fun. :)

Well, maybe I'm not remembering the sequence of events correctly then.
The way I remember the movie: April comes home from work, asks where Splinter is and the guys say he's been on the roof meditating ever since your report. Splinter then gets them all to go out on the roof with him and he shows them the canister and they discuss the ooze at that point. Therefore, it was April's report that set the whole discussion off.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the way things happened. At least, I'm certain that April's report is what made Splinter show the Turtles the canister.
Then again, I haven't watched the movie in a while. I should probably go pick up the DVD...

As much as I liked Paige Turco as April in "Secret of the Ooze", I would've loved seeing someone else play her in the third movie, like a pre-Friends Jennifer Aniston or someone.

:o
I shudder to think what that would have done to Jennifer Aniston's career. She might never have landed the role of Rachel on Friends.
Much better to have a no-name actress like Paige Turco (seriously, what other films has she starred in?) than someone who made a big name for herself later on.
Don't get me wrong. I like the movies . . . to an extent.
But I like Friends better! :P

I'll go with the science bunch on this one.
April had a lot more to her rather than hanging around with big nose, erm, Vernon!
In the Mirage comics she played a better role, unlike the 'toon where she was always getting caught!!

I kinda like both jobs. It seems as the reporter tho she was more involved with the TMNT's adventures tho, which is why the orig. producers wanted to make her into a reporter. The computer scientist thing is cool too tho, sorta more related to what I'm doing now in college. Kinda like how the DW comic of her, #2 I think, had her talking to her dad about the possiblity of becoming a reporter instead of studying science. See there are reporter roots in her after all!

At first, she worked for Stockman and got fired/fled/whatever. After that, she took over her fathers antique-shop which the tmnt and the foot so kindly trashed for her. If I'm not mistaking, That's the original story and I'm fine with that.
But that happened in the very beginning of the comic, like the first year or so... What has she been doing for the last 19 years then? Does the comic answer that (haven't read it)?

That's why reporter April didn't work for me. After a while she just became a cutthroat shrew who cared more about selling stories of the Turtles kicking butt than the Turtles themselves.
But I am a die hard original comic universe enthusiest, so lab assistant works for me...
even though, she was a reporter in one issue of the old comic...
http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/mirage/volume01/32/32.htm dunno how that happened....
