What did u think of the TMNT's drastic mutations in the last 2 seasons of the series...stupid....nice twist....where's shredder?? Why didn't splinter mutate as well....he was exposed to the same mutagen...is it because he's a zin master....never had reason yo be hulked up??

It was cool, probably the only thing I liked about season 9.

It was stupid, everytime the Turtles were in deep trouble they mutated, and won the battle. How original..

I voted for stupid...While there were things I liked about these seasons (mostly season 10), I didn't like the mutating at all. It didn't feel like it needed to be there, and it just felt like a gimmick.

I honestly don't remember watching much of the last seasons, but I do remember them starting to get really stupid and off the wall with insane weapons and whatnot.

I think they were trying to make it interesting and gain back fans lost to the likes of the Power Rangers and such.

so why do u think splinter never mutated?? That's a question that plagues me now that i look back at the last 2 seasons.

The fact that the Turtles were mutating was ridiculous enough, so I think they didn't want to spoil Splinter. Besides, it just doesn't fit to his character. What's the use of mutating when you spend the day sitting and giving advices?

Maybe Splinter didn't mutate because he was old. The Turtles were teenagers and could have had some hormonal thing going on that caused their drastic new mutations. Everybody's body undergoes changes when they are teenagers. The mutation simply caused the Turtles' changes to be a little more drastic than just growth spurts and cracking voices. Splinter's hormones would be normal so they would not cause strange mutations. I don't know if turtles and rats have hormones or puberty or anything like that, but it seems like a sound idea to me as to the cause of those new mutations. I personally always found them kind of scary because they were not the same Turtles when they changed like that.

The fact that the turtles turned into large, angry creatures was bad enough, but what made it worse was the presence of Dregg. If they had at least kept S & K around, would have been much more interesting.

That would have been interesting....to see the mutatin turtles face tin skin and krang...maybe splinter's hormones did play a role...or it could be the fact he's a ninja master...and can control the problem...kinda like he was trying to tell carter....u know

I liked the mutations, but it got old

For a show that's used pretty much every thinkable monster and mutant, this seemed like a logical step and a way to really mark the darker tone of the later seasons. The same with the change of arch-enemy, Shredder had already tried everything and the show needed a new approach. Carter is, in my opinion, another way to give an old, pretty repeating series som fresh blood.

The ideas were great, but they were all executed poorly, unfortunately

IMO, this was the dumbest decision in all of TMNT history.

yea so much more interesting having them run away in every episode and try and get fuel for the firggin technodrome....lord dregg may not be a skilled fighter but I don't know theres something about him and mung I actully liked and thought were very fresh about them new characters were always a welcome change in my book except carter no black man acts that corny cept wane brady lol. To Be Honest I wish we would have seen more of berzerko I really liked the character and the story behind him.

They had mutations in the original series show? Pardon my ignorance but the Turtles got canned here in OZ much earlier than most places. Curse those colored morphin Power Punces! Does anyone have any screenies so I can see? I thought the Mutations was just a line of the toys....

Learn something new everyday round here!

Well, this is how I see it. One of the biggest appeals the TMNT has for me is that they're not superheroes with superpowers. Instead, their unordinary creatures who just want to be ordinary. Their family history has brought them into extrordinary events and all the while they deal with it the best they can with the skills they have practiced virtually their entire lives.

The mutation story revolved around them going into battles and not being able to win unless they mutated. They gave themselves no chance of victory unless they became these huge mindless beasts. That defeated the whole concept behind the TMNT story, as I saw it. And that is the only moment in TMNT history, name any silly universe you like, where that has happened. Thus I see it as the worse decision in TMNT history.

Interesting thought pattern. Never thought of it that way. Looks like someone's done their homework! Bravo.

Nah. No homework necessary when you've been a fan for 14 years. It all just comes natural. :)

The worst thing about these seasons was Carter. I hated him even more than the stupid mutating turtles.

First off....welcome Holy Grail....i'm honored u chose my post as one of ur first....now....bookworm....u hate carter?? I mean he's not the bestcharacter but he's at least an attempt at ne life blood which by this time in the series was lacking...and as for the masks mutating....so did belts and pads and shells grew metal...have u seen the return of dreg....i'll post a pic if i ca remember of the u;tra mutated mikey and leo....they got gross....in fact i showed the scene to a friend of the family's kid (he's a fan of tmnt cause of me...gave him my old episode tapes....dumb move....) and he freaked out....it actually scared him.....the kids 6 or 7 and the muta-turtles freaked him out....hum....wonder if that's why the show died soon after the mutations were introduced and they were stoped by season 10's start??

Yeah, it's like he TMNT forgot they could actually do anything unless they mutate.... geez... that was the worst part of the show.

I agree.. Carter was just as bad as the mutating thing. He's easily on the same level of annoyance as Keno.

Yeah, I hated the CHARACTERS of Dregg, Carter, and Mutations, but the series had darker writing than it's previous seasons

Darker does not necessarily mean better.

There is no rule that states you have to like EVERYTHING to be a "true fan." I might not have liked the plots, but I still got up Saturday mornings to watch. And people who didn't watch are no lesser of fans.

Carter's mutation was stupid. why the hell did he become a super mutant without having a normal mutant form? I mean.. like what animal was he supposed to be? He turned into some big buff dude and then back to a kid? Geez, at least he didn't turn into a big green dude we all know and love...

Carter was a'right. But they centered the attention on him too much. About the mutations, I voted 'totally cool', tho how I really feel is that I kinda liked the mutations and I kinda didn't. They were stupid to some extent. It would have been cooler if they had mutated into giant versions of themselves instead, like how Don did in that "Turtles of the Jungle" ep. Now that was funny! Also I liked the "Cyber Turtles" ep where they themselves didn't change, but they got those cyber suits that grew really large. The monster mutations, I dunno just kinda freaky for me I guess.

Roseangelo

What disappointed me about the "Cyber Turtles" episode was that it was a concept from the Archie comics but it had absolutely nothing else in common with the series. Rats!

Jester
03-03-2004, 09:18 AM
yeah....the archie series had the ninja turtles...now adults...or basisly the future turtles fighting verminator and som other villian who stole brains and sold them to a planet whos enhabatance don't dream...the cyber suits were not giant...thankfuly.....like they were in the show....just kinda iron man-esque. this series....of like 4 comics....i think....actually featured all 4 future turtles and not just don and raph....which i liked. Why was it don and raph did all the time slipping....leo and mike were rescued before they went back to help the mutamals...why didn't they come
