It was cool, probably the only thing I liked about season 9.

It was stupid, everytime the Turtles were in deep trouble they mutated, and won the battle. How original..

I voted for stupid...While there were things I liked about these seasons (mostly season 10), I didn't like the mutating at all. It didn't feel like it needed to be there, and it just felt like a gimmick.

I honestly don't remember watching much of the last seasons, but I do remember them starting to get really stupid and off the wall with insane weapons and whatnot.

I think they were trying to make it interesting and gain back fans lost to the likes of the Power Rangers and such.

The fact that the Turtles were mutating was ridiculous enough, so I think they didn't want to spoil Splinter. Besides, it just doesn't fit to his character. What's the use of mutating when you spend the day sitting and giving advices?

Maybe Splinter didn't mutate because he was old. The Turtles were teenagers and could have had some hormonal thing going on that caused their drastic new mutations. Everybody's body undergoes changes when they are teenagers. The mutation simply caused the Turtles' changes to be a little more drastic than just growth spurts and cracking voices. Splinter's hormones would be normal so they would not cause strange mutations. I don't know if turtles and rats have hormones or puberty or anything like that, but it seems like a sound idea to me as to the cause of those new mutations. I personally always found them kind of scary because they were not the same Turtles when they changed like that.

The fact that the turtles turned into large, angry creatures was bad enough, but what made it worse was the presence of Dregg. If they had at least kept S & K around, would have been much more interesting.

That would have been interesting....to see the mutatin turtles face tin skin and krang...maybe splinter's hormones did play a role...or it could be the fact he's a ninja master...and can control the problem...kinda like he was trying to tell carter....u know

For a show that's used pretty much every thinkable monster and mutant, this seemed like a logical step and a way to really mark the darker tone of the later seasons. The same with the change of arch-enemy, Shredder had already tried everything and the show needed a new approach. Carter is, in my opinion, another way to give an old, pretty repeating series som fresh blood.

The ideas were great, but they were all executed poorly, unfortunately

IMO, this was the dumbest decision in all of TMNT history.

yea so much more interesting having them run away in every episode and try and get fuel for the firggin technodrome....lord dregg may not be a skilled fighter but I don't know theres something about him and mung I actully liked and thought were very fresh about them new characters were always a welcome change in my book except carter no black man acts that corny cept wane brady lol. To Be Honest I wish we would have seen more of berzerko I really liked the character and the story behind him.

They had mutations in the original series show? Pardon my ignorance but the Turtles got canned here in OZ much earlier than most places. Curse those colored morphin Power Punces! Does anyone have any screenies so I can see? I thought the Mutations was just a line of the toys....

Learn something new everyday round here!

Well, this is how I see it. One of the biggest appeals the TMNT has for me is that they're not superheroes with superpowers. Instead, their unordinary creatures who just want to be ordinary. Their family history has brought them into extrordinary events and all the while they deal with it the best they can with the skills they have practiced virtually their entire lives.

The mutation story revolved around them going into battles and not being able to win unless they mutated. They gave themselves no chance of victory unless they became these huge mindless beasts. That defeated the whole concept behind the TMNT story, as I saw it. And that is the only moment in TMNT history, name any silly universe you like, where that has happened. Thus I see it as the worse decision in TMNT history.

Interesting thought pattern. Never thought of it that way. Looks like someone's done their homework! Bravo.

Nah. No homework necessary when you've been a fan for 14 years. It all just comes natural.
