Which is your favorite in terms of art in the TMNT comics. Although I really loved TMNT #1 I choose the Leonardo one shot cause 90% of the book was art no sound effects or anything. It was beautiful.

no, actually... not without ruining it.

You must try to locate it and read it for yourself, I should not spoil it for you. ;)

(If you really want a spoiler there's blurbs at the official TMNT site)

hmm, if this was covers, i would have to say TMNT the collected book4 (Return to new york). An amazing painting by AC Farley. Hmm, comic wise, maybe The River.

When it comes to cover art, I also like the 4 graphic novels. When it comes to interier comic art, I like the Leonardo TMNT micro series book.

But, I can't pick one. I'll just list my favs... :D

AC Farley's art is awesome. His cover art is just as impressive, especially the ones for City at War.

I also second Michael Zulli's Trilogy. Very awesome. And I also own a panel from this. Here's the links to the Mirage site for a summary.

Twilight of the Rings is plain intricate. All the detailing in any comic that is by Rick McCollum is like.. wow!

I also like the books that Dan bErger and Eric Talbot had a hand in too.

Just got a load of old mirage comic books today (see the 'Lucky Me' thread for details) and Leonardo #1 was one of them

That has to be my favourite out of what I've seen. Great artwork and everything

TMNT volume 1, issue 50 --- the first part of City at War, penciled completely by Eastman and Laird (their last collaboration to date).

In terms of story-telling pace, tones, imagery, and so forth, it by far surpasses any of the other artwork mentioned. This was the TMNT as they were meant to be pencilled (in my opinion).

The entire Return to New York arch is pretty close, too.

Laterz.

"In terms of story-telling pace, tones, imagery, and so forth, it by far surpasses any of the other artwork mentioned." ?!??

No, it doesn't. It's great art but there is no pacing at all as practically nothing happens in the entire issue.

And, of course, story-telling is always about "something happening", right??

Arg, i hate mindlessly Grotesq art, the stories from 31, 35 and 36 seemed to have an inetresting plot, but the art was just terrible. It was brilliantly detailed, and inked just right, but, that's not the turtles, that's not how they look, no. The ebst cover art I ahve seen from the TMNT was definitely Issue 20 with the deranged Zog on the cover, very nice

Well, Shreddatron did say it was datailed, and inked nicely, but the style is just nasty. I totally agree with Shreddatron, I mean, yuk; the characters look so ugly. Sorry, about my thoughts on the art. It just makes me want to turn my head in disgust when I see art like the two above. The up side is that it's not amature art work and the coloring is very well done.

I myself actually prefer the gritty style in TMNT art. Although Raph with all those guns does look awkward.

Ryona

Don't get me wrong. The art shows alot of talent... it's just that... I don't like it when artists start making the TMNT look more like monsters and less like people. They start to look like mindless beasts. I'm just not cool with that.

MetaL_MeatheaD
07-12-2004, 04:17 PM
i always thought that they were supposed to be monsters, as in mutants, i just think that they look hardcore mean thats what i want, ai ninja turtel that will rip your f*ck'n head of and come back for seconds, but like i said thats my opinion you guys like what you like and all the more power to you, and i will like what i like

I suggest you read the early issues, then.

When the TMNT were on another planet, they used "guns" whenever they had to. Its not anymore out of place for them than using bow and arrows (which they have also done).

KROW

heretic, those were ray guns. They don't count. And neither do bows and arrows. They're entirely different from guns. What the shell, man.

Ryona
07-13-2004, 03:19 PM
The TMNT will use guns if they have to, but I read in # 14 (It was titled "Unmentionables") that they don't like to use guns.
For the record, Leonardo is the only one who is skilled in the use of firearms.

KROW
07-13-2004, 03:31 PM
Yeah, well, all that aside, I don't like the "Raph Rambo" picture. In MY eyes, the turtles shouldn't have to use guns, even if they don't like them.

Explain to me how "ray guns" don't count, but our firearms do??

Also, outside of Archie, I've never actually come across any reference with the TMNT disliking guns.

KROW
07-14-2004, 03:29 PM
Well, ray guns have lasers. Actual firearms have bullets. They're as different as apples and oranges. Same, but different.
