Wanted to get the artist's permission first, but still if she were to be introduced, THIS would be an awesome design. I love how her fins are designed like her hair, since i know a lot of fans don't want her bald (which I have also seen done, but REALLY cute!). Ever since I saw that pic, I really don't think that was a Mona Lisa shoutout. Just a "wrong slide" gag like someone said earlier. However, if the writers did go back to that, they could make it be Mona Lisa's MOM instead, making her Jack's daughter. I have this theory that Kurtzman had a wife who was a scientist kidnapped by the Kraang and experimented on, but she was pregnant with Kurtzman's child when it happened. So when Mrs. Kurtzman gave birth, it was to a mutant baby who would be Mona Lisa. Much like April, she would be born with her mutations already and would likely be immune to retromutagen. I was thinking if the writers were REALLY clever, they could call Mrs. Kurtzman Mona and their daughter would be Lisa. This would also be a great way to introduce the EPF. Like during the first invasion, Mona and Lisa were living in secret with Kurtzman and he sent them out of the city to hide in case the EPF showed up or the Kraang hunted them down. For the last two years, he's been keeping in contact with his family until he could tell them it was safe to come home. Once the Kraang are gone, Mona and Lisa prepare to sneak back into the city, only to be stopped by the EPF. They capture Mona, but Lisa gets away and manages to get to the City to seek out her father and he introduces her to the Turtles and the Mutanimals. Also, I had this cute idea where Lisa discovers why the Kraang keep finding her dad. She gets his smart phone and looks through the settings: "Daaaad! I told you; turn OFF your GPS signal!" |
Something about this Mona Lisa/Mona and Lisa idea rubs me the wrong way. I'm not saying "Mona was bad and will be bad" or "We don't need another female character on the show" but if by the end of the season Karai is retromutated back into a human and goes to the turtles, the addition of yet another female character that would pal around with the Turtles would seem a bit redundant. Heck, we have enough mutants as it is, and a good portion are now affiliated in some kind of faction.

Here's what I think what Rockwell's reaction is to the return of his intellect.
Rockwell: This must be it. A state of mutation where it feels like I'm in my right mind again. ... Or maybe I'm in my right mind again. Inspired by the Adventure Time episode, Betty. |

I know Karai is supposed to be "good" now, but she was raised by Shredder and she did say that she lived her whole life surrounded by "hatred and revenge," so it's not like she can just shake those off. And I could see her returning to Tokyo on her own as a sort of "soul searching" quest to find out her place in life. Maybe she'd appear again in the middle of season 4? I have this idea where the Turtles uncover "Kraang Artifacts" that have been scattered all over the globe and they need to locate them, so Kurtzman helps locate them and they use the blimp to spread out and search. They discover one in Japan and send word to Karai and she goes to look for it. I also see Mona Lisa teaming up with her in Japan and they sort of become a crime-fighting duo in Tokyo. (If a spinoff ever happened, THAT would be a neat one to see). Like I said, this is all fan dreaming I'm sharing with you guys, but I honestly don't think Karai will be a live-in ally, despite the fact that Splinter is her father. |

You don't need Shredder at this point to create conflict for Karai. The mutation creates conflict by itself, but I guess without Karai, Shredder is a weak character. I mean ****, there was a concept art of Splinter training snake Karai. I would pay money to see that. http://media.tumblr.com/b6c40394cbc7...IqT1s4ksvd.jpg Splinter: "Very good but the brick doesn't hit back." |
Episode was okay...
The episode was okay but I find myself annoyed that the retromutagen didn't work on Karai. The whole serpent mutation thing is just a failed experiment IMO. It's like the writers decided they turned Karai away from the dark side too early in the series and then couldn't figure out how to develop her as a protagonist so they decided to take the chicken way out by making her a mutant. It's just lazy writing.
EDIT: OOPS! Meant to post this in the last episodes thread. |

Great two-parter which actually has be excited for the second half of the season. With the Kraang gone, the show can move forward with more Shredder stuff I hope. |

April does telekinesis: "April is totally getting over-powered; they should't have given her that..." Rockwell does telekinesis: "Ooh, I really like that Rockwell can be an active fighter in the Mutanimals team!" :/ Quote:
my couch commentary about Irma was immediately, "Hey, irma fans! She's back! Arent's you happy now??" Quote:
Seriously, they're busy enough producing the show as it is without having to make new models and sets every single time; how long do you think these hiatuses would last if they didn't recycle things once in a while?! I will put in a complaint about how few New Yorkers there are in New York in general, though, and in this ep: "Millions of New Yorkers"... and we see, what, five or so on each of those TINY islands? |

One is almost more of a main character than some of the turtles and the other one makes guest appearances. At least, that might be one way of looking at it. If you had Rockwell join the turtle team and fight with them as much as April does I think lots of people would have problems with that too. Personally I don't think that April is overpowered. I like how she can contribute to the team, even though I'm sure she would still be able to do so even if she had no powers. My only problem isn't necessarily with her, but at the lack of character arc or importance in the story given to Raph and Mikey, which only emphasizes April's powers more since we have a secondary character with a clearly higher billing than two of the main characters. I'm expecting this to change though; Raph's got his dark arc coming up and Mikey will be hanging out with Renet in some way. So hopefully there'll be more balance with the turtles in the coming eps. Something i just realized is that Battle for new york are the first episodes of Nick show that are based on a IDW story at the same time. I mean the latest IDW issues were about the mutanimals and now in less than a month since the release of IDW mutanimal strory we got the Nick version of it. Do you think that this might happen again in the future? That we will get more episodes based on IDW comics?

No, the Dark Raph story is an IDW reference and will be similar to the Dark Leo story in City Fall. So they will be doing at least that IDW reference. And the Mighty Mutanimals were originally in the Archie Comics, so I think it's a reference to that story and not IDW. I think they just borrowed Pete from IDW.

They should make an episode based on an IDW comic.

Th best part was Mikey saying "go ninja, go ninja, go"

This was a really fantastic episode!
I couldn't help myself and watched it online, 2 times now. I'm honestly surprised that Leo was the only one suspicious of Slash. I mean he nearly killed Mikey and Don, but I guess he did help them against the Kraang and Newtralizer the last time. And it's great to see Kurtzman again, I really like him for some reason. And I like him as being the boss of the Mighty Mutanimals. If that is what he is, if he isn't then he should be. Speaking of the Mighty Mutanimals, I really like the team lineup besides Pigeon Pete. But yay for having some Archie Adventures stuff in the toon! I hope when Mondo Gecko shows up he joins the team as well. Back to Kurtzman, I seriously thought he was dead when he got hit there. I was like :teek: I still hate Monkey Brains eyes popping out like that, why do they even do that? It's disturbing.... I'm glad they brought Irma / Kraang Subprime back. I'm all for Gilbert Gottfried being the voice of cartoon characters and this is no exception. He's really funny as this character and I love how he treats the other Kraangs like idiots. It's funny also how the Irma head is all jacked up at the end of the episode. But I guess he's dead after that explosion? :ohwell: On a side note I really do hope a toy gets made of the biodroid at some point. They should forget the action feature it has and just release it as a normal figure with a Kraang that rides on it. The line could seriously use another Kraang toy. I can't lie either, I really like Mikeys Dimension X outfit, the toy will probably sell very well. Oh and speaking of things from Dimension X, those Kraathatrogon's butt baby faces are still freaky hahaha! That Drakodroid droid thing is seriously cool as hell. It looks to be some sort of organic and machine mixed together. What was the black thing the one Kraang droid had on it's head? It looked like either some sort of robotic hat or wig lol! I'm glad they had the humans not be able to breath, it made it rather dramatic and realistic. Something TMNT often times in the past has not always been to good about. I'm glad they turned everyone back to normal and Kirby is back with April. It would have been funny/ clever if when she was yelling dad and he was like who are you? But that'd lead into more Kirby stories and honestly I know I'm not the only fan of seeing the poor dude go through hell. I do have to think about Timothy though and I really hope they will be able to change his goofy ass back to normal. So are the Kraang gone now? Will they be back? I'm sure they will. Sucks for Steranko and Anton as they could have waited a bit longer and avoided being mutated. So is this the last episode for awhile again? I really hope not after this nonstop action fest I just want more!:tgrin: |

I already have him written out entirely and I feel like it would work amazing on this show. |

Since the Dark Raplh will also be based on IDW Dark Leo we will see more IDW characters like Kitsune and Hob. Kitsune for sure because she was in Dark Leo Arc and she was the one who brainwashed him. But instead of an alienwitch that she is in IDW she can be a human witch or a human with some super power in the Nick version |
