4Kids found a way to turn a minor character like Stockman into a major villain in quite a brilliant way, have him be an arrogant prideful backstabber, with a gimmick about him always upgrading his cybernetics so that his appearence keeps changing. That version of Baxter was so awesome IDW more or less went with that characterisation. This Baxter on the other hand... More or less went back to the coward who turned into fly for no reason. His punishment doesn't even make sense this time around, 4Kids Baxter got his limbs chopped off for failures and treason, this Baxter got turned into a fly because... Shredder didn't like ducks and pigs? It's so stupid, it was utterly pointless. |
I don't understand why people still bring that up, he was obviously not going to stick around. He was likely just checking early reactions of the episodes, the Baxter ep in Season 1 was one of the earliest eps.

Has anyone tried to reach out to the writers in a civil manner voicing their concerns about how Raph is being treated? Not that it would do anything but you never know.

I wish that the writers would come back and chat it up with us. :) It would be fun! Ciro seems like a cool dude! |

There was one episode where Donnie gets sent into the future, and when he's there, he sees Mikey (who had one arm), Leo(who was blind) and Raph (who had a missing eye) killed in front of him. Quote:

So what happened to episode discussion here? It evolved into interacting about Weadon all of a sudden as well as vampires.

Besides that, instead of contributing to the Whedonism of the thread, why not stick your 2 cents in what you thought about the episode? |

I already said it earlier on the thread Warhorse with my thoughts, but I found this an episode that was okay, but of lost potential too. It did have it's funny moments with Pete as the comic relief, especially the slap fight with Baxter Stockman. It had me  each time I watch it. The action was also top notch as always, offering intense fighting sequences we are to expect by this point. Slash's growth by now has also made me smile, he's really come a long way by now. Mikeyhead, Michelangelo breaking the fourth wall and Leo and Raph's hug all were positives in my book. At the same time, it felt disappointing on way particular parts weren't utilized, like the reveal of the lair. (Shouldn't Shredder know it by now too or is it only the Kraang that do?) In addition, I still hate that the "Dark Raphael" portion lasted only 7 minutes. Then again, many people were hyped for the rumor to come to reality and I all I wished for was some good development. It also feels Raph was totally out of character for this one episode, where he feels like his season 1 counterpart just to set up his inevitable control, he just felt angry for no reason outside "Let's go kill Shredder, NOW!" Now, I get this episode was still a set up for The Deadly Venom with the claimed plot at this time, but this idea had potential with great imagination. Instead, it feels rushed like a few other episodes thus far, but still retains the fun thrills. It's far from my personal favorite episodes of season 3 so far, but I felt more could have been done, both with the plot for the characters and in general. (Probably acting greedy, I know) Not a bad episode by any stretch, but feels a little weak to me. |
Now, with the whole thing with Donnie smacking himself. Was that one of those naughty metaphors? You ever heard of the expression "spanking the monkey", well, what does it mean when the monkey has you spanking yourself?

So, like, Clash of the Mutanimals was super great, guys! I wish that fight between Leo and Dark Raph lasted a little bit longer.

Sorry I'm late with this but this episode was pretty cool. It started out very interesting with Tiger Claw being Tiger Claw again and defeating the entire team of The Mighty Mutanimals. Great start for the episode. I really enjoy Slash and Leatherhead but it's also cool to see how great Tiger Claw is in battle all by himself.
I love the self awareness of the Crognard episode in this episode. Including Mikey pointing it out as well. Slash hitting Splinter was a pretty serious moment. It reminded me of Slash and Destroy. Slash vs. Leatherhead was a matchup I think we all thought we'd see back when Slash was more of a villain, but at least we finally saw a version of it in this episode under different circumstances. The Party Wagon vs. Shellraiser was pretty cool too. I had just been thinking how we've not seen much action from The Party Wagon in the way of it's weapons and here we see just a little more of it in this episode. Shredder's secret lair was pretty cool and reminded me of Darth Vader's meditation chamber in The Empire Strikes Back. Having Shredder just tell Raph "Stop" because of the mind control serum was pretty awesome for some reason. And technically Raph beat Shredder in that duel they had so that's pretty impressive on Raph's part. And Raph with the Shredder-like tekkō-kagi was awesome. Pigeon Pete and Stockman-Fly's fighting was very funny. The beginning of Tiger Claw vs. Mikey reminded me of other media where the guy with the more elegant weapon flails it around before the other character just pulls out a gun and shoots at them (Indiana Jones). It was funny to see that between Tiger Claw and Mikey. Another Raph vs. Leo fight's always fine by me too. And Shredder vs. all eight of our heroes, the turtles and The Mighty Mutanimals, was very impressive. I really like Shredder in this series. The way the worms ended up not working was a little cheap I thought and I did want to see "Dark Raph" have some kind of story arc in the series. I would have loved to see the turtles struggle with both Raph and Karai under Shredder's control for a decent while. |
Replying late from this episode, but better late than never. I like seen the Mutanimals, especially Slash and Leatherhead.
Raph showed up his aggressiveness as Dark Raph. Great action scenes. Finally Raph and the Mtanimals were cured from those bugs. Nice episode. |
The fighting scenes were really good. It was interesting to see all of the Mutanamals working together for a common cause.
