http://markandpaigerodriguez.blogspo...d-bad-and.html Our thoughts on this episode. It was pretty good I have to say, possibly the best fights between Raph and Casey we've ever seen animated. And the Foot were actually a threat. No wonder Shredder replaced the useless human Foot with the more superior robot models.

ObiWanFan4life 02-02-2014 12:12 PM

I don't know why, but that fight on the train reminds me of the matrix or the Wolverine.

OrokuYoshiFilms 02-02-2014 12:18 PM

So yeah um that's got to be my favorite episode so far. Full of turn-up-ment. Too much good stuff to list it all. Favorite part was the movie reference.

Probably nothing much, the episode will probably end on a cliffhanger showing a normal April clone has been completed.

And something will happen to it in a later episode.

Fantastic episode, it really could have been part of the first Turtles movie while keeping many familiar goodies with this show. Think of that last Foot Soldier as Nick's Alpha-1. Great use of backgrounds during the subway battles, from the signage to the cars, including a clever message on a wall. This ranks right up there with the Raphael Micro, Meet Casey Jones from 4kids, and the Casey/Raph/Foot battle scene in the 1990 movie. Gotta love the Power Ranger/Sentai references with Mechaforce. Looking forward to the next TCRI meeting (some Movie II references perhaps, now that Rahzar is included?)

It was nice to see this Irma, now with purple hair and perhaps a bit younger than April (Biology tends to be a sophomore year class, not to mention she's shorter).

Overall: 9/10

Did we all notice generic blonde lady in the corridor. I'm pretty sure the guy in the blue shirt was in the office that Baxter Stockman attacked in his robot of doom.

SO WHAT'S HE DOING IN A HIGH SCHOOL?

Ninjinister 02-02-2014 12:50 PM

Did they say Irma's last name at all in the episode? I haven't seen it yet.

(For that matter, I don't even remember it being mentioned in the original show, either)

The IGN review says its Langinstein

Raven 02-02-2014 12:59 PM

Except for a few, few small things this episode was perfect. There was some really great nods to past meet ups from Casey and Raph. The training session in #2, the roof top spotting from the movie and a few other great nuggets.

One thing that really stood out for me was the soundtrack for this episode. It felt more epic and nuanced (Not that the others haven't). There was a part of me that was wondering if the guitar rift that came in with Casey was a nod back to the 1989 movie?

Great episode! 9/10 for me.

drgon78 02-02-2014 01:03 PM

Casey did say he has a sister though I doubt Irma will be it but it would have been interesting if they were related....maybe cousins or something.

The train fight did remind me of the train fight in the Wolverine movie a lot.

Also does anyone remember what Irma's last name was in OS Turtles?

VaughnMichael 02-02-2014 01:05 PM

I'm probably the only one who didn't like this very much.
As much as I love this new show I'm just not a fan of this kid Casey.
I'm still not really a fan of April either so I guess I just don't like bratty jerky teenagers. *shrugs*
It just all seemed to happen to fast for me with Raph and Casey just meeting and becoming the best of friends.
Yet when they met Tim they treated him like total crap.
I have to wonder if the lair is compromised now though since Casey lead the Foot to it.
That was the only thing I think I liked about the episode.
I know a lot of you like nonstop action but I like a bit of story to go along with it and I felt it wasn't really there this time.
I also find it really hard to believe Casey could take out the Purple Dragons and fight Raphael so well.
Plus I just want to say I feel like they've really dumbed down Mikey which every show seems to do at some point or another.
Oh I almost forgot to mention Irma, not as cute or funny as the clumsy old toon version but the voice did sound a bit like the 80's version which I thought was cool.
Here's to hoping I enjoy next weeks episode better with the big April secret!
I give this episode a 3 out of 5.

Everything says it was Langinstein (which is why I don't buy IGN's review as canon if it wasn't said in-show). I don't remember it ever being mentioned in OT, but reportedly it was.

cryan 02-02-2014 01:08 PM

According to IMDB Irma's last name was Langinstein in the OT.

Again, NOT REMOTELY a source that we can use.

BabyTurtles 02-02-2014 01:13 PM

I'm so proud of Donnie for not letting his love for April make him instantly mean to Casey when April introduced them.

I was expecting a frown....but no, he actually smiled XD I'm so happy!!

Best ep of Season 2 so far!
Finally, Casey Jones! I loved him. LOVIN the skull mask. Awesome Mirage drawing in his notebook.
Foot in the Lair....finally! That was awesome, especially Splinter.
Raph's got issues...:teek:
Only thing I HATED about this ep was air date. Why Sundays?

No, I mean Toku as in Tokusatsu, it's a genre with shows like Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Godzilla, Garo , and Super Sentai (Mikey has referenced Ultraman and Kamen Rider in this show already with the nick comics also referencing them)

CyberCubed 02-02-2014 01:35 PM

I can't believe it took them till Season 2 to explain the renassaince names of the turtles. The previous cartoons did it by episode 1 and 3 respectively.

Thank goodness they did though. I was worried they would forget.

I can't believe it took until it happened for you to bring up it hadn't happened.

Donatello19 02-02-2014 01:44 PM

That IGN review brings up a good point, don't the Foot already know the turtles' location? (They sent Karai and two Mousers there in the Season 1 finale)

bridgegrn 02-02-2014 01:45 PM

Lol, I said damn out loud when Raph body slammed Casey on to the hood of that car. Raph definitely did a number on his face too. Pretty cool episode. I'm hoping for a Raph and Casey vs Slash type situation now.

Technically they were just in the sewers on the way to the lair but the fact that Kirby was under their control he could've easily told the Foot where the hideout is.

I didn't realize they hadn't explained that yet. I just assumed they did that in the first couple of episodes. The fact that I knew the reasoning for the names is why I probably overlooked the fact that they didn't say it.

I'm glad they finally did.

Hmm good point, though Karai wasn't there. Maybe the mouser just traced April's dad to that location using that mind control device. But either way we can just assume that they don't have that information.

Though, since we know Shredder is putting together a better army to fight the turtles and we know the turtle's home is compromised at some point, what if the Shredder does know and he's the one that reveals them to the world to flush them out and then goes to take them out with his new warriors.

In the episode Raph says something like "I swear if that Foot Soldier gets to Karai and gives away our location, YOU can explain to Splinter"...

I'm talking about the Season 1 Finale, not this episode. Raph says that to Casey in today's episode.

Technically the Turtles don't know that ever happened, they were already gone to the TCRI building to destroy the portal when all that transpired.

And since Splinter was real hush about everything else that happened then, presumably you're led to believe he didn't bring that up either.

So good to have the core 7 together now. This is my favorite version of Casey by far.

That episode was epic! A great birthday present for me and an awesome return for the Turtles! Loved the fights with Raph and Casey as well as Irma's appearance. I can't believe she actually spoke! I didn't think Raph would hurt Leo like that, but at least he apologized for it. At least Raph and Casey are friends now though. Also loved the movie reference with Raph on the roof and Casey spotting him. He was just missing that radio and had his journal instead. Overall, a pretty good ep! Can't wait for more for sure.

Happy Birthday! The music during the train fight and subway chase was very awesome. Loved that track.
