I think it might be Angel, and it would be a nice way to bring her into the series rather than her just being Casey's friend like in 4kids and IDW.

Kinda get the feeling his father and sister are dead. So it's kind of a waste to name his sister Shadow or Angel if the most we'll see is some sad flashback of how they died.

The only minor nitpick I had was Casey's fear of rats. Not a huge deal but hopefully Splinter can help him conquer his fear. Otherwise, great episode.

I, for one, can't wait to see what the writers do with Casey's phobia when the Rat King, who can control rats, shows up. And to put the icing on the cake, it looks like the Rat King/Fungus Humongous episode will deal with the worst fears of our heroes.

I wouldn't want that to happen because I have never liked that character.

Same here. Hun is a boring character to me.

wait...why would Casey bring up protecting his dad and sis...if they were dead?? :-?

This episode was very good! My soldiers destroyed the turtles lair!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAH:D:D:D:D I liked it a lot!!!

JH24 02-04-2014 02:23 AM

Very nice episode, regarding production quality definitely one of the best. For some reason I didn't enjoy the episode as much as I had hoped, either I'm not in the mood (a bit stressed lately) or I'm getting burned out on the series. Planning to watch again though.

Things I liked:

- Fight scenes. Original, good choreography and great action.
- Casey's portrayal and character, I've warmed up to him and already feels a part of this series now.
- Nice to see Irma.
- Good to see the Footbots are becoming more and more of a threat. Without Raph and Casey's teamwork, the last one would have escaped.
- Raph and Casey "warming up" to each other, especially when they saved each other's lives.
- Casey's reaction to Master Splinter and him telling about the origin of the turtles' names.

Things I didn't like:

- Mikey's "joke" with him belching. Come on... not a good start.
- Raph having anger issues again? We had those before. Leo seemed a bit provocative in the sparring match.
- Casey finding the lair and then letting himself be detected due to clumsiness feels kind of forced/cliché. For some reason I had preferred him meeting all the turtles outside the lair or on the surface.
- The turtles (in this case Raph) hiding in their shells still freaks me out a bit, it looks so weird.
- Unless I missed something I found the transition from normal Casey to being a vigilante sudden. To see him in the last episode and then this one was quite a big gap IMO.

Mikey seemed actually a bit jealous at the end about Raph/Casey bonding. I can imagine he wants to interact with this new human friend too.

Michelangelo 02-04-2014 03:43 AM

One of the best episodes ever.
The action was so awesome.
Each fight ebbed and flowed between different characters winning and losing with some great moments along the way. Whoever does the show must be an awesome bunch of dudes and dudettes. That's what a show should be like! Great job!
The Slash episode was just as great, especially for the fight scenes. Well thought out action sequences that make for great entertainment. They are getting better at making these turtles do some seriously cool stuff. With Casey on board now we can look forward to many other issues being answered as the show progresses. Cowabunga!!!!

To just add relatives is a variant too.

Other thing is:
How would you have felt if Casey's relatives were the canon characters of the past tmnt's and not original characters of this show(the tea-party girl for example?), I mean not only with Shadow or Angel. Some other character and Casey, let's say, were not related or didn't have some common things in past incarnation, but now they are going to be relatives in this version.

Lightjump 02-04-2014 05:44 AM

Good episode, I really identified with Casey Jones. I was the kid that would always sketch things and make up a super hero :tgrin: I feel however that they should have shown more concern when he saw Mutagen man so that his sudden rush to vigilantism.

I don't think they are going to pull a star wars here (oh, wow I had no idea Darth Vader build C-3PO! that kind of thing), but if it is something like that, sure I'd find it uncreative and possibly aggravating.

It really depends though, if they take a very minor character who most didn't care about and reimagined that charater as Casey's sister, it could end up being a better version than the previous. So you have to keep an open mind.

if you just want to view it in terms of "canon" then I say that's BS, this show is its own canon and it doesn't have to obey the rules of any of the previous versions, including the Mirage comics. Only thing that is important is that it stays true to the spirit of the franchise and the past versions. If they did something like say, make casey and april brother and sister from the start of the Nick show, that would be something I'd say qualifies as against the spirit of the franchise, and I'd probably not like it.

I am hoping for an all-new character. Maybe a kid?

BubblyShell22 02-04-2014 07:23 AM

I doubt Casey's dad and sis are dead because he wants to protect them. If they're dead, then it makes no sense for Casey to even mention them when he lists who the mutants could possibly hurt.

Klunk1234 02-04-2014 08:34 AM

Great episode! I like all the action scenes. The only thing that was annoying was Mikey's behavior. That's is getting old and ridiculous. Irma's introduction was fine, but why the purple hair? She looks like 2k3 Angel with glasses.:tgrin:

Yeah I thought Mikey's behavior was indeed a bit ridiculous this episode. I guess he took that last turtle standing bit seriously though and decided to win any way he could.

syk_skillz 02-04-2014 09:18 AM

Anyway i can watch this episode online?

Darth Knuckles 02-04-2014 09:54 AM

This was a great episode. Being a Raph fan, I really identified with Raph and always wanting to win at things you are good at doing. In this case martial arts. He never wants to lose even once and I really respect that. It's what I try to do in life as well. And I also sympathized with Raph after his first outburst, when he tries to calm back down and talk to Leo but talking to him only makes him mad again. I've done that many times myself.

So many references! The fight in the beginning where Raph gets so angry that he attacks a fellow brother. He goes topside and then sees Casey Jones beating up some street thugs and thinks this masked man is being too brutal. Great Mirage stuff in there as well as Casey drawing in his notebook. Awesome!

And as others have mentioned, the exact choreography of Raph on the rooftop! Just like the first movie! And then Casey seeing him and then following him into the sewer as the Foot Ninja did Raph in the first movie too.

I also liked Splinter telling Casey how he named the turtles as well as April naming them. That scene really reminded me of the same scene in the original cartoon, the first movie, and Secret of the Ooze.

And it was really neat to finally see Irma outside of April's phone. She seems pretty cool and I liked the voice a lot.

Yeah that was awesome. I think my favorite thing might have been the Eastman and Laird written on his gear. I wonder if they will be there for the whole series or if they just did that for this one ep?

I didn't catch Laird on his gear until today. I saw it before but I couldn't make out what it was supposed to say. Nice touch.

BubblyShell22 02-04-2014 11:00 AM

I don't think Mikey's behavior was bad. It was every Turtle for himself, so he just decided to use that to his advantage by grossing Don out. Yeah, it may seem immature to some, but to me it's great strategy that really worked.

Which funny, because in Out of the Shadows one of Mikey's counter moves is that he burps in his opponents' face. When I saw he did that to Don my mind went back to that game.

Shouldn't you be in a mental hospital by now? & by you, I mean the imbecile roleplaying behind your account, not "The Shredder". :trolleye:

I really hope they're not always going to make Don and Mike the first ones out in training sessions all the time...

me either....but Mikey and Don did tag Raph at least once XD in the last season.

but...Mikey joked around to much and lost....and Don was distracted by April XD....

...I kinda want to see Leo or Raph get taken out first...change it up a bit.

Sage Ninja 02-04-2014 05:16 PM

Am I the only one is getting tired of Mikey and Don being the the turtles to always go down first?

haha! I never realized that. You're absolutely right. I'm rewatching season 1 and it happens more than once, now that you mention it.

bigk4062 02-04-2014 05:31 PM

I think Mikey and Donny aren't focused as much on that aspect as the other two... Raph and Leo use sparring to vent their frustrations out on each other and Mikey and Donny just let it happen... I mean Raph even yelled at Leo this week for trying to take him out when he was trying to take out Mikey!!! It does get pretty boring after awhile though

Gabriel GP 02-04-2014 05:58 PM

Well, to be honest I always think about Mikey as the strongest of the four but he will never be the best fighter because as everybody knows, he dosen't care at all for it.

And about Don, well, in his case I guess the writers think that he would become too much appellative, cuz when you already is the most intelligent among your brothers and yet as good as a fighter, you could excel the others too much.

Probably my only problem in that ep was Donnie didn't even get to fight! Come on!

TMNTChris1980 02-04-2014 07:43 PM

You know what really bummed me out? The Juggalo makeup that Casey was wearing under the mask was bad....real bad. I hope he ends up getting rid of it.

What do you think?

Yeah, Mikey belches in his face which has the same effect as blinding powder, and Raph just takes him out because he's the only one who is disoriented.

If I was Splinter I'd make it an automatic loss for Mikey.

electric_sheep 02-04-2014 08:25 PM

They finally did it, they created character more annoying than Jar Jar Binks, this Casey Jones needs to die, horribly! i don't remember when i last hated a character this much..

I hate to say it but I'm not a fan of that face paint either. Not at all. Under eye paint or something, like a dude in war, that I could get behind. But not so much the full on thing.

Splinter believes in winning at any cost and the exercise was about learning each other's strengths and weaknesses. Michelangelo has strength in burping.

Except didn't Mikey burp before the competition even started? I feel like it was the first thing that happened before Splinter even explained the rules, and then when it started Don was still out of it. Seems pretty unfair (and an immature gag AND stupid way to get Don out of the fight) to me.

Mikey was just being immature, how'd he know it could be used as a weapon?? :D

blame Raph for taking advantage of the situation XD He knew Don wasn't ready.

JH24 02-05-2014 03:14 AM

Re-watched the episode again last evening, enjoyed it much more this time around. I guess I wasn't in the right mood during the first time I watched after all.

I really didn't like that opening joke, it was not a good start but luckily I forget about it when the episode really picked up.

But for once it would be great to have Don or Mikey come out on top or at least do better against Leo/Raph. Even (as far as I remember) the one time Donnie was able to beat Raphael he got distracted and got humiliated badly afterwards.

Mikey did beat Raph in Karai’s Vendetta....sort of.
