Forum Upgrades

I just upgraded the forums from phpBB 2.0.1 to 2.0.3. This should hopefully fix most of the problems that AOL users were having. Let me know if you come across any errors.

Krang 01-17-2003 02:50 AM

Today, I upgraded the forums from phpBB 2.0.3 to 2.0.4. This fixes several bugs and increases stability and security. Let me know if you come across any errors.

Karpo_007 01-18-2003 11:27 AM

I have been getting lot's of DNS errors Today. Could this be because of the Forum upgrade?

Krang 01-19-2003 03:44 AM

Actually, I think it's because our server has been acting up lately (which is also the reason why the random image and quotes on the main page don't show up every once in a while). Hopefully, our host will fix the problems soon.

Karpo_007 01-19-2003 03:51 AM

Oh... Would the "Debug mode" things be the servers fault too?

Krang 01-19-2003 04:04 AM

When and where did you see that?

Karpo_007 01-19-2003 05:24 AM

2 times actually. First I tried to reach New TMNT forume, then sometime later in General TMNT. It said something like "Debug mode" and some parameters and such and I couldn't access the forum. I were smarter I would have taken a screen shot..

Krang 01-19-2003 05:27 AM

Ok, I got that error too. It looks like yet another problem with our server...

SeaThreePeeO 01-21-2003 05:36 PM

CURSE YOU AOL!!! :x

Is it just an AOL members problem and is that the reason I couldn't post for the last few days?

Krang 01-22-2003 02:02 AM

Yep, the posting problem you were having had to do with AOL. But I edited a setting on the board so that the problem hopefully won't come back.

SeaThreePeeO 01-22-2003 06:00 AM

Ever get the felling you ISP is trying to tell you something?

azure turtle 01-22-2003 05:38 PM

Okay, I'm getting problems with the forums, too. Every time I log on, the forum acts like I haven't logged on at all. So, I log on a second time, which finally allows me to post. However, once I log on twice, all of the folder icons are marked yellow, or "read." It's driving me crazy because I can't tell which threads have new posts since I last visited. :dead: Is this happening to anyone else?

Karpo_007 01-22-2003 05:40 PM

No, I don't have any problems at all right now. After week end the server problems seemed to stop. After that everyting has worked perfectly for me.

SeaThreePeeO 01-22-2003 05:45 PM

*Holds a clipboard and removes a pencil from behind her ear*

Now let's see that's one order of non double loggings, with a side of red folders ..... and for you karpo *Looks at him over the top of the board* I'll put you down for what ever troubles going, K?

Karpo_007 01-22-2003 05:46 PM

Heh... Well as I said, No problems after the week end...

SeaThreePeeO 01-22-2003 05:49 PM

Hmm don't think you're getting away withou giving me a tip!!

*Thrusts out her empty palm*

Or I will set AOL on you! Doody doody doody doo

azure turtle 01-22-2003 05:50 PM

LOL! I just hope Krang knows what's going on, because I certainly don't.

Karpo_007 01-22-2003 05:52 PM

Probably some a bug or soimething.... I have seen Rat king replying as a guest many times... Sounds like the same problem you are having Azure.

Make sure you're visiting the forums using this exact URL: http://www.thetechnodrome.com/forums/
That problem might have something to do with people who are accessing the forums through http://thetechnodrome.com/forums/, http://www.technodrome.com/forums/, or http://technodrome.com/forums/. Let me know if that fixes the problem.

azure turtle 01-27-2003 10:11 PM

Thanks for the tips, Krang! Haven't had any problems since. :D

azure turtle 01-28-2003 11:07 PM

Oh waitasec... I spoke too soon. It just happened again, even after using your suggestions, Krang. :(

Krang 01-29-2003 02:47 AM

Hmm, after you try logging in and it doesn't work, have you tried hitting back on your browser and reloading the page?

azure turtle 01-29-2003 11:08 PM

It happened again, and I tried refreshing my screen. Still didn't work. I had to log in twice. :dead: I dunno what's wrong...

Krang 01-30-2003 01:23 AM

Try deleting your browser's cookies and making sure that it is allowing cookies from thetechnodrome.com.

azure turtle 01-30-2003 05:52 PM

Okay... Seems like no problems right now. I'll let you know if it happens again.

Krang 06-25-2003 01:19 AM

The forums have been upgraded from phpBB 2.0.4 to phpBB 2.0.5, which has more bug fixes and better stability. Please let me know if you come across any errors that were not in the last version.

GK Punk 06-25-2003 01:21 AM

Cool, it actually seems to be running faster now.. unless that's just my imagination. But I am pretty sure the forums are running faster

Krang 06-26-2003 02:30 AM

It should be even faster now, since I added a template caching feature to reduce server load (so we don't get suspended again) and speed up page loading times. If anyone notices problems such as blank pages, let me know.

GK Punk 06-26-2003 03:15 AM

wow, it's much faster ^^

The 7th Turtle 06-26-2003 07:27 AM

well, i couldn't enter the site yesterday... every link i tried brought me a 404... :ohwell:

but now everything is ok :) though, i can't notice if it's faster

Yeah I had the same problem.. Except I do notice that the Forums are faster. Even on this stupid 33.6K modem

Nturtle 06-26-2003 07:42 AM

Thats true!! it is faster!!! Cool! 8)

I had that problem yesterday, it said something about a server down I think

GK Punk 06-26-2003 07:58 AM

I think it said "Page temporarely suspended"

Krang 06-27-2003 12:13 AM

Yeah, the page was suspended because we were using up too much resources on the server. I'm not sure what caused this, but I added the template caching feature so that it is less likely to happen again.

azure turtle 06-28-2003 02:01 AM

Woah... The forums are definitely loading faster for me. I'm on a 56k modem for the summer, so I'm very thankful for the upgrade. :D

BTW Krang, I still get that strange error I reported in this thread. I log on, but then all the folders are marked "read," my name appears on the bottom, but the forum says I'm not logged in. I have to log in twice. Dunno if this happens because I don't log on as often as I used to, or if it's some sort of bug.

Machias Banshee 06-28-2003 07:58 AM

Heh, nah, youre just weird... :P :D

Nturtle 06-29-2003 08:14 PM

We weird people have to stick together!!!! *bashes a random robot with a kendo stick*

...

Hey, is it just me or has the "you can't make a post so soon after the last one you just made" time period gotten longer?

GK Punk 06-29-2003 10:05 PM

Hey! Kendo stick! That's my gimmick!!!! :x

I think it might be a problem with your ISP switching your IP address too often, since the board uses your IP address as part of the validation process. Did you get this problem when using another ISP?

Yep, sorry, I increased the time to 30 seconds to cut down on posts that consist of only an emoticon or a single word, since those have been increasing lately.
