Who liked Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation

I thought it was ok except for the cornyness

Jade Green 10-15-2002 07:39 PM

It was okay and I agree with the corniness...
But... I did have a slight problem with Venus...
She just didn't... fit, in my view

Greed 10-15-2002 07:41 PM

yah your right

Jade Green 10-15-2002 08:12 PM

Some one like my char Randi or... GRAY! *points to pic of Gray*

Kali 10-15-2002 09:09 PM

I liked The Next Mutation, though I admit it could have been better if someone other than Saban had made it. It really could have worked in my opinion.

My favorite part was the guys' costumes.

Deathknight 10-15-2002 09:17 PM

I saw about 5 minutes of one of the next mutation eps... that was enough. It was horrible.

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 09:22 PM

Ah i can't remember anything of next mutation, everything i saw was the pr crossover, and it was pretty bad, so i think its safe to say i didn't liked it :ohwell:

Machias Banshee 10-15-2002 09:35 PM

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 10:04 PM

:-? :)

Machias Banshee 10-15-2002 10:11 PM

Sorry, i should have said...*wipes a tear* I love your picture with the 'Catsu'... :D

Honestly, i've never watched a full show of PR...seemed too much like a mix of Godzilla movies and something from Zoog... *shudder*

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 10:14 PM

Ohhh that :P
Yeah...thanks, the domokun picture inspired me...and i was really bored :goofygri:
But it's too big so i'll either rezise it or move it to my sig in prowler's forum and replace it with my dance dance tatsu animated gif instead!

Machias Banshee 10-15-2002 10:17 PM

:teek: What does THAT look like?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 10:20 PM

The dance dance tatsu gif?well...um...it looks like a weird japanese dancing bunny :blanksta:
But right now it goes too fast, i think i need to add more frames or something

Machias Banshee 10-15-2002 10:21 PM

*Squeal* Aww, that is so CUTE!!!! *Dies from mushiness*

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 10:26 PM

Tatsu is not cute, he's an evil, eeeeeevil dancing master  :goofygri:

Machias Banshee 10-15-2002 10:27 PM

*from floor* He's STILL cute...!

Nickokapo 10-15-2002 10:30 PM

Hmph...i guess  yay, i slowed him down :P

Donatello the turtle 10-16-2002 06:18 AM

didn't like thet show much but it was ok i think(only sew it in hebrew and i hate hebrew[i have seen T.M.N.T. in hebrew it's a nightmare :dead: ])

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 10-16-2002 07:33 AM

I saw several of the episodes when it was on FOX, and it was okay. I didn't like the idea of a female turtle (not that I'm sexist or anything), but it was just kind of like she popped up out of nowhere.

I didn't like their looks, either. Their bandanas were placed funny on their heads.

I also didn't like that new bad guy, the Dragon Lord, or whatever his name was. He reminded me too much of Dregg from the cartoon.

You do have to give the show credit, however. It really tried to establish itself, but it couldn't quite make it. Too many weird characters, for one thing. And Shredder from the very first episode looked absolutely atrocious. He didn't resemble anything close to any Shredder we've seen before, cartoon or movie or comic book.

However, I would have liked to have seen that Ninja Turtles-Power Rangers crossover. But I didn't watch the series enough to get that far.

heretic888 10-16-2002 07:34 AM

hmmm

it was entertaining, i suppose, but incredibly stupid and shallow (even for a pr-type show).

But he iiiiis cute! I like it whent he guy wrinkles up his face and goes "Nnngh!"

Yes... I need help. But I still like that animation. It's as funny as Krangsu!

Oh yeah.. the TNM... I liked tyhe concept of it when it was in production, but as soon as I saw what Saban's quality is like. Ilk... :P Like what Kali said, if someone with more creativity and passion directed that show, it would have been 75% more desireable.

Also liked the new designs for the shells, and the Hum-Vee... but they definately could have done without those funky full-face masks. :P

Jade Green 10-16-2002 09:24 AM

Despite how they portrayed Venus, and the corniness...
When I first saw it, I saw a lot of 'advantages' Fan fic wise: if there was one, why not more?
That's how I made up my concept of Maranda Ann Tezlof and the Mutant Militia...
*shrug* stupid, I do admit but... eh, it worked.

I think the mutant Militia concept could still work in a fan fic... if I can just get the plot right.
Was actually working on one (like, a few minutes a month >_<), about how Maranda's life story... from when she lived with her aunt and uncle for one year... (she was in first grade) to her agreeing to a 'military school' just to get away from them... I'll say no more, I might actually write this fic some day.
(if you'll notice, I'm one to write several fics about the tmnt, and almost none of them connected.)

Kali 10-16-2002 09:33 AM

I saw tons of fan fics possibilities in TNM as well. Mostly because I thought I could do a helluva lot better with the idea than they could. It also inspired me to write Midori.

If you read the TMNT Letters from the period that they used Venus as a character, it was a lot better than the show. The characters actually grew and changed etc., etc. Venus wasn't near as annoying in those. Although she tended to use exclaimation points WAY too often.

heretic888 10-16-2002 09:38 AM

hmmm

it was entertaining.... but very embarassing for the Turtles.

True, true...
if they had the costumes better, and if it was a bit darker... they could have done with out Silver... and maybe made Bonesteel smarter, meaner and oh, maybe a better name...

heretic888 10-16-2002 10:08 AM

ugh

it would have been better if they had just kept doing the animated series..... i really wanted to see where that 'new mutation' thing was headed... oh well, the past is past i suppose.

Jade Green 10-16-2002 10:14 AM

*mutters about how she didn't like the 'new' mutations*
Mike was able to like... appear human, right? Or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

heretic888 10-16-2002 10:27 AM

well....

well, i was talking about the animated series in which they would all turn into hulk-like turtles.... but then the mutagen was balanced, so they got fixed up. but it was implied that this 'balancing' created some kinda 'super mutagen' and i woulda liked to see what happened with the turtles.

there was a fourth movie idea in which the turtles continued to mutate as well, and that is what you were talking about i believe. i got the impression that Mike just couldnt 'appear human' but that he had a range of psionic powers dealing with stealth and invisibility and illusion and stuff like that...

Kali 10-16-2002 10:34 AM

I wasn't to fond of the cartoon's "new mutations" in later eps either. Maybe it was just the way they dealt with it though. I don't remember much from those seasons.

Laird's planned "next mutations" for a fourth live action movie (way back a few years ago, see BFTP #36-40) were neat. Or at least most of them were. I liked Mike, Leo, and Don's. Raph's was okay, but they'd have to change Splinter's since they were so similar. I think Splinter should have been able to become invisible or blend into his surroundings.

Though I would hate to think of what Saban would have done with that idea. *shudders*

heretic888 10-16-2002 11:53 AM

awww

i thought the cartoon mutations were neat.... but i would have liked to see what would happen to the tmnt with the 'super mutagen' in thier bloodstream. i woulda been kool if the transformed into somethin like thos Supermutants seen in the action figures and Japanese anime.

as you may have noticed, the Raphael 'mutation' for the proposed fourth movie actually became the standard mutation for all four of them in the animated series (hulk-like, basically). i prefer the movie proposal's unique mutations however: Leo can create a metallic armor like Colossus, Raph can turn into a crazy hulk-turtle, Don has great telepathic powers and has augmented himself with cybernetic enhancements (due to his eyes failing(, and Mike has psionic powers dealing with illusionism and the sort. Splinter they should have worked on some more, however. All the turtles' mutations seemed to match their characters quite well.

heretic888 10-16-2002 12:04 PM

of course....

i would lOVE to see the color scheme for Mike's new costume in the movie proposal. it could be either gay or totally cool. like if the shirt was white and the vest black that would look cool. and i wonder about the color of that bandana. is it like camouflauge or hippy or what?

MzTheInsomniac 10-16-2002 05:22 PM

why did they drop 'teenage mutant' from the name????

heretic888 10-16-2002 05:28 PM

ahem

they did that for the next mutation to show that the turtles are more 'grown up' now....... but the ironic part is that tnm was the most childish and immature media of the tmnt ever created.

the full teenage mutant title is currently used on all the other tmnt media (comics, animated series, toys).... i personally think they should drop it from the comics considering the turtles are like 28 in them.

Greed 10-16-2002 05:29 PM

The best thing were the figures

heretic888 10-16-2002 05:32 PM

....

if you say so.

MzTheInsomniac 10-16-2002 05:32 PM

they should keep the turtles young, in this case they don't get better with age

heretic888 10-16-2002 05:34 PM

ahem no

uhh.... no.

you see, teenage mutant ninja turtles is basically a coming of age story. of course, they shouldnt have them grow up all at once or anything, but keeping them the same age completey ruins the depth of the story.

MzTheInsomniac 10-16-2002 06:10 PM

well woopty doo it was just a suggestion pal

Kali 10-16-2002 06:50 PM

Well, I like the stories of when the Turtles are young, although I'm also enjoying the older Turtles in the new Mirage books (and in fan fics.)

Watching the Turtles grow up makes for a wonderful story, but I'm glad they can also "rewind" and make the Turtles young again in a new universe. And keep them that age as long as they want, maybe the mutagen slows their aging.

TNM action figures were actually of pretty high quality, especially compared to the earlier figures. I wish I could have gotten some.

Machias Banshee 10-16-2002 06:54 PM

I agree... :D I LOVE hearing about the guys when they were young...I would figure that the mutagen WOULD slow the aging process, thus allowin the turtles to be teenagers for a longer period of time, and Splinter to stay more active in battle, and not with one foot in the grave...
