snow?!! ah you're in Sweden, lucky you  No snow for us here in Pennsylvania!! Not until January or Febuary and een then its only a couple inches, oh well I still appriciate it :D

Skeletoncrew 10-17-2002 05:10 PM

Snow in Portland is a rarity. I saw only one or two flurries last year and nothing stuck.

Machias Banshee 10-17-2002 05:18 PM

I LOVE Maine! :D had four feet of snow, with six foot snowdrifts! :D Cant wait to go sledding...

Nturtle 10-17-2002 05:31 PM

grrrrrr.... you're so lucky!!! of course shoveling the driveway has got to be a pain in the neck :dead:

But who knows maybe we will get a lot this year the most ever was 3 feet in '96 :o

Machias Banshee 10-17-2002 05:34 PM

I liked the ice storm we had years ago...yeah, we lost power, but i like candle light anyways, and there was no class, AND...it was pretty. :D

Nturtle 10-17-2002 05:37 PM

no power? yipes, I kind of like power outs too, but in the winter with no heat can get harsh.
But what I would give for a snow day!!! :tangel:

We had 8 feet of snow in the southern part of Buffalo NY last year. No Joke. EIGHT FEET!

Machias Banshee 10-17-2002 07:15 PM

azure turtle 10-17-2002 07:33 PM

I think it's snowed here in the Bay Area maybe once in the dozen or so years I've been here. It didn't even make it to the ground though. I've never seen snow with my own two eyes, not real snow, never touched it, or played in it or anything.

We get hail the size of golf balls.

azure turtle 10-17-2002 10:39 PM

I've been in snow before... Trips to Oregon and the nearby mountains were always a lot of fun for me. My family and I haven't been on a snow trip in years, though... I think we're due for one this winter. :D

Donatello the turtle 10-18-2002 05:26 AM

never sew real snow...only ice

SeaThreePeeO 10-18-2002 06:00 AM

Take heart Donatello. The last time it really snowed in Berkshire where I live, and I mean proper snow, none of this slush stuff was when I was in Primary School. Many many many years ago

kyabetsu 10-18-2002 08:44 AM

huh. snow's overrated.

it's all fun and games until the blankty-blank stuff melts through your pants.

ever read "To build a Fire" by Jack London? Snow isn't all Bing Crosby and hot cocoa.

If you want a white Christmas, use tree flocking or scrape out your freezer or something.

I don't have my own pics of the storm from last year, but I may be able to dig some up from the local news channels.

HorseTechie 10-18-2002 11:17 AM

heh.. I live in an area of the States that gets a nice moderate amount of snow. If you can call barely under a foot moderate. If we get two feet, it's like the storm of the year.

*wonders what eight feet of snow looks like, let alone four*

SeaThreePeeO 10-18-2002 01:57 PM

I'm not too hot on snow myself. The one thing I do worry about is that my daughter will never experience the joy of making her first snowman.

Maybe in the future there will be no snow and my daughter will dismiss my stories of 'white stuff falling from heaven' as the ramblings of and old woman

Snow White 10-18-2002 05:46 PM

LOL! That'd be dissapointing.

"Man, is your mom talking about white falling stuff too and getting all dreamy eyed? I think they've finally snapped."

I had the privelage of playing in snow once on the way up to the mountains when I was real little, like eight or something. But my little brother stepped on thin ice and his leg fell into the water and we had to take him to the emergency room, which we didn't know where it was because we hadn't ever been there. My parents thought he had frost bite, and even though I clearly insisted he didn't, does anyone ever believe me? NO! Okay, so I don't really know what frost bite looks like, and I was ten, but still, I was right.

But unless we all live in a bubble in the future (which I think would be kinda cool) I think snow will always be around. Or at least I hope...I wanna build a snow man too! And put snow down someones shirt...
