swat turtles

Great oogly moogly!

I was just at a Toys R Us in Downers Grove and they had in stock, a box set of "Swat Turtles."

I've never heard of these, but included in the set were Donatello and Leonardo in SWAT gear (basically just repaints of the Fightin Gear Turtles, 6 mousers, and the SWAT versions of the Battle Shell and Pogo Copter.

It looked really cool! It was going for $50 and I didn't want to spend that much money. Have any of you guys ever heard of it?

FireFly 08-08-2004 03:07 PM

cool :)

cqb101 08-08-2004 03:42 PM

Whaaaat? This is news to me....We need some pics!

KROW 08-08-2004 03:45 PM

....the Hell?

OA 08-08-2004 04:29 PM

definately need some pics here....man, first the T-rex surprise, now this...and just when we thought we knew what was comin...

avervisal 08-08-2004 05:00 PM

Ok I don't know when I'm gonna go to this TRU next....just cuz it's not the one I usually go to and they were fresh out of any normal figures, all they had were a bunch of vehicles and the mutations and the ninja actions, but once I get the chance I'll try and go to the store and take pictures?? Lol that isn't legal is it...

Oh yeah, and any help from any TRU workers on the forum here, when do new shipments usually arrive? I've been trying to figure that out for the longest time now.

I remember seeing pics about a mouser 6 pack, so maybe this was what it was leading up to...I definitely want to buy this set now though. The mousers are different than the ones that came with April, these ones have a dark shade of midnight blue to them and they look very sleek. It goes along with the whole SWAT theme.

Leonardo_the_sword_master 08-08-2004 06:56 PM

I wonder if it is official

avervisal 08-08-2004 07:26 PM

It wasn't a bootleg or anything, if that's what you mean.

It followed the standard packaging that all TMNT products by playmates come in.

Darnit! I knew I should've brought a camera with me today! :x

KROW 08-08-2004 07:41 PM

Somebody E-mail Dan Berger about this.

BigApple3AM 08-08-2004 08:17 PM

What toys r us? If it's close to me I'll go check it out. I saw the leo t-rex today but I passed. I think I'm gonna give up repaints/retools and lame vehicles.

avervisal 08-08-2004 08:28 PM

Ecto, it's the Toys R Us on 75th street right by the Linens N Things, Best Buy, and Old Navy. They had 3 boxes left when I went there.

Do you seriously think TRU would carry bootlegs?

Leonardo_the_sword_master 08-08-2004 09:37 PM

well u would think the ywould ave them at the ninja turtle wbsite......... even though i haven't check.... let me go check.

avervisal 08-08-2004 09:45 PM

hahaha that's funny...

acutally the ninja turtle website isn't at the utmost up to date...they don't have some figures from the 5" line listed yet

Leonardo_the_sword_master 08-08-2004 09:55 PM

huh wat u mean????

avervisal 08-08-2004 10:00 PM

the ninja turtles website has a list of the items in their toy catalogue, but it doesn't have EVERYTHING that's out right now, like claw shredder or dr. malignus

you could argue that those figs aren't out yet, then why are the deep divin out? i think i've only seen one person on the boards so far who have claimed that they've seen the deep diving, otherwise no word has been heard

KROW 08-08-2004 10:04 PM

He means that the official site doesn't have all the needed information on the toys. *sigh* What's up with you, man?

Snailman 08-10-2004 02:10 PM

SWAT turtles? :-? :o

Well if it comes with more Mousers, then that's cool for me- the more mousers the better I say. :D

6 of them. I think I also heard rumors of there being sold an individual pack of 6 mousers in the future, so if you don't want to blow the money on the set then wait until those come out.

Splinter 08-10-2004 06:58 PM

I wonder if this is supposedly the exclusive repaints that the US was supposed to get. The UK got the Commando turtles, and we got the Swat turtles. I wonder how close they look to the UK releases. And shoudl we expect the other two turtles with a Swat version of 2 of the other small vehicles? :)

True, true, but if I buy those Swat turtles AND the mouser 6 pack I'll have 12 mousers! :o More mousers = good. :D

Bry 08-11-2004 07:48 AM

SWAT Turtles!? Weird!

I dig the Fighting Gear figures as much as the next guy, but it seems like they're just rereleasing those constantly... It'd be nice if they'd give them new head sculpts or something, at least.

avervisal 08-11-2004 07:57 AM

I'll try to get a picture of the box today for you guys

...that's actually a good point & well made Clone Ranger. :D

Well, I could still buy that Swat Turtles set as I don't think I have any of the toys in the set, so for me it wouldn't be like buying duplicates.

But having 40 dollars left over to buy lotsa mousers seems like an increasingly more attractive idea.

TheCloneRanger 08-11-2004 08:23 PM

Lets do a little math here...S.W.A.T. set is $50, individual figures are around $6. You could have 8 sets of 6 Mousers...

Dude, you could have an army of 50 Mousers (including what comes with April) for the same amount! Pick up a thing of model car paint, and you could have quite the little Mouser gang.

You were that kid in the 1st grade that told me there was no way I could jump from the jungle-gym without breaking my arm, weren't you? ;)

With the way TMNT has been going, I don't think case assortments should be much of a concern for anyone. Even the figs like Stonebiter/Razorfist that were originally one-per-every-two cases are very findable now. Playmates seems to have distribution down pretty good...if the Mousers are packed even at 2 per case, within a month of their release, you could probably do that without any trouble.

Just make sure I've found my Mousers first before you start hording all of them :P

Edit: Oh, yeah...S.W.A.T. Turtles. Anybody have any pics yet? With the way TRU is going (down hill, QUICK), I doubt they'd care if you took a picture. ;)

 Not to my knowledge, jumping from the jungle gym is dangerous....unless you do it just right. ;)

Yeah, you got a point there, I've not had a hard time finding any of the new TMNT figures really. :)

Heh heh, no problem duder, although I dunno if we're in the same area so technically it wouldn't matter.

Yeah, seriously, I haven't even SEEN what we've been discussing all this time. Sucks about toys-r-us though, I've been goin' there since I was a wee lad, dunno where I'll go to get my toys if they close down-sure as hell won't be Wal-Mart though. :flaming:

Brodie 08-12-2004 08:06 PM

The repaints on these vehicles look cooler than the original colors.

I agree, the darker jungle green is more foreboding and mysterious than the green used on the original Battle Shell and Pogo Copters.

Also, I don't know if it was meant to be like this in the original releases, but in here, the two vehicles "interact" with each other - the battle shell has a designated landing pad for the copter on its roof.

TheCloneRanger 08-12-2004 08:14 PM

I don't like that "rooftop landing" thing...that's pretty cool! (I "don't like it" because that's enough to make me want to buy this)

Man, I wish I hadn't seen those pics...I may actually pick this set up now.

avervisal 08-12-2004 08:20 PM

yeah it's a nicely designed combo pack...I think Playmates did a very good job on this one. i might get it myself, especially since I haven't bought a battle shell or pogo copter for myself yet!
