One suggestion: if there's going to be silver on him, make it all one tone of silver. The metalic silver and the drybrushed silver kinda clash.

that looks awsome! I was thinking of painting an utrom to look like shredder but I will wait til November to see what next year brings figure wise! How did you hollow out shredder?

Dunno what he used, but a dremel would work.

Any silver on the figure is Playmate's doing. I didn't change the color of the armor (the matte gray), or the vac-metal from the Armorized Shredder...I just put a black wash over the matte paint. In my opinion, there's not many figures out there that wouldn't benefit from a good paint wash.

The blue-ish color is what I redid. It's a light blue (um...Windows XP blue?). I know it's far removed from the show, but I like it! :)

I was SO disappointed when I heard the Utrom was "squishy," because I knew that was going to cut down on what I could do to it. Even painting (well, recoloring) turned out to be a royal pain. With the gummy-material he is made out of, I don't have any way to add on to the Oot, or do much redesign. And I'm not sure about how to color it...he seems to absorb any color I put on, and it needs to be touched up after a few days. The red is ok, but the blue for the "tattoo" around his eye fades worse.

Exactly. I used a fine-sanding attachment for a Dremel. It comes to a point...I don't know the exact name for it, but I started out by sanding a small hole all the way through his torso, then expanding it.

Thanks for the compliments and advice, everyone! I'd love for PM to do an official figure so I could compare, but I get the feeling they'd just use a basic Shredder with a modified torso instead of anything major. It didn't come out in the pictures too great, but his cape is a cool shiny blue material. :D My real digital camera broke, and I had to do the old capture method from my digital video camera.

Playmates really should make an Utrom-Shredder like that.His cape looks snazzy. :D My friend Joe also a Drome member used a box cutter to put his Utrom inside of his Shredder figure.Is it possible to put an Utrom in the regular Shredder figure?How do u like cut out that protion of the chest?Well my dad has a dremel so maybe he can help me out. :-?

I'm at work right now so I can't compare, but I think the torso/abdomin are the same on both figures, so it should work.

I started by simply pushing the dremel (turned on, of course) into the middle of Shredder's abs. Violent, no? :evilgrin:

After I got a cone-shaped hole all the way through, I just started expanding it. The only articulation I lost was in the waist. I took out all of the plastic in the torso piece, down to the crotch/leg piece. I kept making the hole a little bigger and reshaping it until the Oot had a snug, but accomodating hole, with a nice shape to it. It's worth noting that if your Dremel has two speeds, use the slowest one. The higher speed, while it works, melts the plastic. I had to pull out several strings of melted Shredder with a pair of tweesers. Tweezers. Something like that.

Not that I collect the new turtles toys, but is this a made up figure or one that will be released. THEy probably will release the utrom shredder one day. I also think they should have made a stuffed animal of the utrom shredder.

Nice custom! As a fellow customer I have some possibley helpful critisism, seeing as you are also a fan of blackwashing I would think to paint the vacuum metalized paint as well, to prevent chipping during play or incase it falls fo the shelf or during transfer. And also if you want to give the Utrom his Shredder detail, use Caulk, or hot glue.

That Utrom Shredder custom figure is SO @<#}+$%^\?>&*! INCREDIBLY AWESOME!!!!!!!

I've been waiting for months to see if & when Playmates releases an Utrom Shredder figure. Oh when, oh when, oh when will that happen?????? Who do I have to call, write to, and/or sleep with to get an official Utrom Shredder figure released??????

Your hyperactivity is ok. I understand. They probably will make an utrom shredder figure. HOpefully the utrom shredder will have the new armor shredder was in in rouge in the house. You write to Playmates toy company. I'd give it a year until the utrom shredder figure comes out. HAve faith. You don't have to sleep with anyone to get it. I understand about the utrom figure. ANd it is awsome you are a fun of the utrom shredder.

Utrom shredder, Toy fair happens in November I belive, thats when playmates shows off next years line. And last year in the fall The official site had prototypes of most of the figures. So id say before Christmas we will find out about 2005. If they have a Utrom Shredder and Karai, I will never complain again...well not for an hour at least! :wink:

Right now, I'm one of the only people with any Utrom Shredder figure, unofficial though it may be. d_fife mentioned that Utrom Shredder, who I'm pretty sure is a guy, won't have to sleep with anybody to get one later on. I, being a straight guy, simply made the comment that if he offered to sleep with me, he'd never get ahold of an Utrom Shredder from me.

Just a simple joke. Moving on...
