Famous People you've met

The other thread gave me this idea. Who here has met anyone famous? I go to a lot of cons, both small and large, but here's my list (or at least what I can remember)

Natile Portman
William Shatner
Tom Brokaw
Lexa Doig
Leonard Nimoy
Bill Clinton

I'll think of more....

Jester 12-27-2004 07:19 PM

Nicholas Brendon (Xander from Buffy) and Beverly Mitchel (Lucy from 7th Heaven) came to our school one year for a summer program when we were stationed in Italy, it was for Extreme Summer, a get out and play type thing. the questions asked were doozies, "is Willow really gay?" and the like. I asked Beverly, "are u anything like you character?" i hope she appriciated the non-goofy drama geeky question.
My grandparents were siting in the Tulsa airport terminal. They were talking with a guy who looked familar. Later they watch the news and found out that Jamie Farr (Klinger from M*A*S*H) had been talkling to them.

ThirdMarioBro 12-27-2004 07:25 PM

You met Shawn Michaels. You lucky....

..I really need to think of anyone famous that I've met. Which'll be, about, a few, at most.

KROW 12-27-2004 11:22 PM

Yeah, Shawn's a really great guy. I talked to him at an autograph signing and we had a good chat about the business and life in general. Then in June I saw him wrestle live and after the match he walked up the ramp and clapped my hands. I congratulated him on it and he said, "Thanks, brother. God bless you."

Great guy.

Peanut 12-28-2004 12:03 AM

Not if I beat you to it.

Dr. Doom 12-28-2004 06:32 AM

I've never met anybody famous. If I ever did, I'd probably clam up and not know what tto say in case I make an ass of myself.

Naminé 12-28-2004 06:43 AM

Not sure if they're actually famous, probably only popular in the VA world. I've met Vic Mignona and Travis Willingham.... over AIM (and not fake SNs) -- English dub voice actors for Edward Elric and Roy Mustang of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Dr. Doom 12-28-2004 06:49 AM

I did talk to Chris Patton over the phone once. He does various voice work for anime mostly. He called on my friend's phone and was acting all buddy-buddy while I was like "who the **** is this?". Not out loud, but when I eventually did admit that I didn't know who he was he started sobbing and handed the phone off to my friend, who informed me that I'd been duped. But yeah, I guess that's the best I've done.

ThirdMarioBro 12-28-2004 11:32 AM

I had a long email conversation with Charles Martinet once. Working on getting one with David Wise.

Brodie 12-28-2004 02:42 PM

Peanut met Rosey Palms one time.

A lot actually.

HA!

I'm priceless.

.....You're the worst person, alive, EVER.

You really met him?

You know, just cause ya' saw Hellboy doesn't mean you met the guy....

You really met him, ya bastard?

damnhooligan 12-29-2004 07:54 PM

Countless Star Trek (mostly original and Next Gen) actors - I grew up at Denver StarCons. My little brother and I got stuck in an elevator with George Takei and a buttload of Klingons. It was surreal, even for a kid.
Hundreds of well-known and not-so-well known fiction writers - Bob Crais, Nora Roberts, Jerry B Jenkins, Heather Graham, Jayne Ann Krentz, so on and so forth. Mom's a writer so I spent most of my life around these sorts.
Bruce Campbell - Once long before I knew who he was. (Age 8.) And the once later when I did know who he was. (Age 18. Hubba, hubba.)
Matthew Perry - He's a good friend of a [former] friend of mine. Said friend just shoved his cellphone in my hand, and I ended up talking with Matt and his girlfriend for about half an hour. Awkward for all parties involved.
Jessica Capshaw- Got to run around behind the scenes at the Practice/Boston Public lot in Manhattan Beach. She was kind enough to hang out with us between takes.
Hugh Grant - He was hanging out at a Pizzeria Unos in Chicago. Go figure.

My mom has way cooler stories about celebrity encounters. She sneaks into movie/production lots whenever she's in LA. George Clooney once hit her with a basketball and that made her day.

Anarky 12-29-2004 11:33 PM

Michael SChumacher (the formula 1-dude) was about to move in about 3-4 km away from me. he wanted to build himself a nice farmhouse and keep some animals and stuff. but then some Swiss morons came along, charged him wih a lot of extra tax and told him that he'd have to bould his house elsewhere since the place he wants to do that now is not too good for the environment. He had a lot of **** to deal with, so we saw him a couple of times walking in the streets, seemed very worried about something.

Gian Simmen, swiss snowboard legend, winner of an olympics gold medal (Nagano, 2000) he bumped into one of my friends while we were snowboarding, we had a nice chat.

Yes, I met him at a Si-Fi con here in Tulsa this last Summer. I talked to him for awhile about voice acting since it's kind of a hobby of mine. And I didn't see Hellboy for another two weeks until after that. I'm glad cuz I enjoyed the movie a lot more because of it. *pets unrated DVD*

zkarlette 12-30-2004 03:33 PM

I've personally met John Schneider (Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard TV series; he was performing at a concert in Branson, MO, and getting to go to it was a belated b-day present for me that year. Lucky, lucky me! :D ) and "King" Richard Petty (#43) of NASCAR fame. Both are true gentleman. Very sweet, and nice.

Peace.
