Jester 12-30-2004 06:49 AM

Sweet. Man that's the way shredder should be. If only u could make like infinity of those, for al of us, then u'd be the most sweet dude here. U've got great skills.

Weapon X 12-30-2004 08:57 AM

That may be the best I have ever seen. Man thats straight from the Original toon, man that is awsome.

TheCloneRanger 12-30-2004 09:38 AM

OK, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Very, very nice. Using the CD player he's standing on as a scale-guide, and the mid-thigh articulation...I'm betting he's a Marvel Legend under all of that? And I might see Magneto's cape.

Custom-sculpted head? Awesome work.

Barkworm 12-30-2004 10:02 AM

Wow, awesome work!

Jed 12-30-2004 11:19 AM

That is amazing! :o Could you talk us through how you made it... please? Now, if only I could commision you to make one for me ;)

cowabunga14 12-30-2004 07:35 PM

That's like the raddest Shredder figure ever! How did you make it dude?Playmates should reinvent some on the classic figures.I wouldn't mind seein' a revamped Rocksteady or 12 inch Antrax. You should give Playmates some ideas. There figures wouldn't be so bland that way.Cowabunga! :D

OA 12-30-2004 08:41 PM

Wow dude, thats pretty sweet...I wish I had talent like that...looks like it must've been fun to make....great job

moonfog 12-30-2004 09:57 PM

thanks for all the kind words, to hell it was a fun custom to make! imagine me sitting at my desk cutting dozens of those little spikes out of toy packaging and having difficulty choosing the best ones because they were so crap

Heres a link to a few WIP pics, as some of you G-D members have already seen http://com4.runboard.com/btheaustral...sandfanfics.t5

Ok i'll try to make a walkthrough of how i did it (hope it helps!);

1. Get base figure marvel legends namor figure and magneto cape, namor is the perfect base figure, the black pants means less painting for me, the eyes on the figure are perfect for shredder, just adjust the eyebrows a bit.

2. pull the head off (yes, the head is of namor with helmet/mask sculpted on) and start cutting at the hair and the ears off, sculpt the mask first, then the hard part is the helmet, in the WIP pics, you can see that i used green stuff (dries rubbery) for the mask and blade thing on the head, but the actual helmet was made of milliput (surface can be smoothed with water), its real hard to explain how i did it, just take your time i guess...

3. body, fairly straight forward as far as painting goes, but i did put some green stuff between the muscles so i wouldnt get that retarded muscly look, those who have namor know what i mean.

4. Armour/padding/spikes, this is where i got really put off and almost stopped continuing on this custom, the armour is again made of milliput, sanded alot because when initially sculpted it was pretty dodgy. make sure you know what size your spikes are going to be and get something of the same size and stab it into the putty in the right places, once done, they will be so much easier to glue the spikes in once the putty has dried and you have cut all the spikes.

5. the flap under the belt was made of green stuff because it dries rubbery, its good to use in that area because the legs would constantly be in contact with it during posing/playing.

6. The cape, when i ripped off the cape from mags, the joining parts were broken, so i used green stuff and sculpted it to join together and then painted it with a mixture of black and purple paint.

7. paint it!

Thats it, easier said than done, i did all this in the space of 2 months, added that its only my second custom, anyone can do it, just gotta be dedicated.

Jester 12-30-2004 10:09 PM

So it takes patience.....well i'm out....:D

Jed 12-31-2004 09:34 AM

I'm so tempted to make one, but if there's one thing I don't have patience for it's milliput or any clay like substance

tOkKa 01-03-2005 08:32 AM

-->> ..That is tight as h3ll ,Moon fog !1!

Irfit 01-03-2005 05:43 PM

DrSpengler 01-03-2005 06:12 PM

Serp 03-16-2005 11:55 AM

Dude!!!! That is awsome.

BartAllen 03-27-2005 08:16 AM

wow. you made that entire thing by hand? awesome.

aramconbrat 04-11-2005 06:51 PM

Good to know someone is making figures to the quality the TMNT deserve... Now if you can just inspire the people at Playmates!

Zachatello00 04-26-2005 08:08 PM

Okay, it's finished. I don't think it turned out quite as well as Moonfogs did, but I"m satisfied with it. I'm by no means a sculpter or anything. But this will serve my purposes.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...0/shredder.jpg

PenguinCleese 04-27-2005 01:39 AM

Dude that came out awesome! Good job man. I just got my Namor for my collection so I haven't even started to try one yet, but I will. Who are you going to do next in that style? Lol.

moonfog 06-02-2006 07:22 AM

Hey guys, after all this time, i have decided to sell off my custom Shredder, just giving al you tmnt fans the heads up.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Marvel-Legend...QQcmdZViewItem

New pics have been taken, but it is the same figure. I have started another shredder custom but i doubt that will be done in a while, but heres your chance to own my first one! :D

Toonami Tom 06-03-2006 10:36 AM

I will probably try to buy it.:) It's sweet!

What version of Shredder is your 2nd custom going to be? Current Toon '2003-armor' Shredder would be awesome!

moonfog 06-08-2006 11:08 AM

just a quick bump, the Shredder auction will be over in under 20 hours!

Turtle_in_the_Shell>> i have been thinking about making other toon accurate figures but they most likely won't be from the new show as im not really a fan and playmates have done a reasonable job with the main characters... Perhaps we will see a Marvel Legends style Rocksteady and Bebop! The turtles i still feel are quite hard to make... perhaps when i purchase a mould and resin casting kit, it'll make things easier.
I really am in a sculpting kinda mood these days, but for now i am quite busy with about 5-6 other unfinished projects i'm working on (including another Shredder) so look out for that one in the future if you miss out.

Toonami Tom 06-08-2006 11:37 AM

I'm going to miss out on your Shredder custom this time.:( I bought some Marvel Legends today.

Marvel Legends style Rocksteady and Bebop would be cool.

jestergoblin 06-08-2006 12:52 PM

I think Bishop or Maestro would make an amazing base for Bebop... Maybe Sasquatch for a Rocksteady base.

I wasn't that big of a fan of the Apocalypse wave if you can't tell...

BigApple3AM 06-08-2006 06:24 PM

Wow that is an awesome custom! I coulda swore I posted in this thread or one just like it before, guess not. Great job. Howabout try doing super shredder.

I'm actually in the (2 year) process of making a movie accurate Leonardo. I've done a lot of sculpting and practice runs that got scrapped. I'm planning on finally starting the real deal, using night crawlers hands and feet, and then a whole lot of apoxie sculpt. I don't think it's ever gonna happen though, I'd actually have to do stuff to finish it heh.

What other projects are you working on? Do you have a website of all your customs?

To JG: I agree the apocalypse wave was kind of crappy. Not just the character selection, but the sculpting and the quality control were awful. Maestro didn't have the cable for apoc, and my sasquatch has two left feet.

Regarding Rocksteady and Bebop: I feel bad for anyone who tries attempting those two as customs. Shredder is nice because he's relatively simple in design, Rocksteady and Bebop have all those little details like nose rings, shades, camo pants, etc... I think sasquatch is too tall and lean for rocksteady, especially standing next to that namor/shredder. I don't think there's really a good base for either as of yet.

Ecto Jedi 06-08-2006 06:38 PM

Very nice, though the arms are a little too small. 'Still miles better than the crap Playmates is churning out. :)

OA 06-08-2006 07:54 PM

Again, great job with Shredder...i cant believe you're actually parting with it, considering how much time and effort it took...good luck with the auction!

shuriken 06-08-2006 08:34 PM

That is kick a$$. Playmates has got nothing on your Shredder custom. You know what would make a really cool custom? Savanti Romero.I think that would be awesome. Anyways good luck with the auction and your other figures.:tthumbsu:

moonfog 06-08-2006 09:37 PM

thanks for the comments and suggestions. Yeh ectocooler, now that i think about it, Rocksteady and Bebop would definetly be the hardest, what with those extra accessories all over them...

Right now heres a small list of what im working on, sorry no website but perhaps in the future as i always take pics of my customs;

Shredder - Only completed the head so far (perhaps may mod it to a Super Shredder now that its suggested)

ML Vengeance resculpt - As some may know, Vengeance looks real crap, so i knocked out all his teeth and made new ones out of apoxie, the spikes on his head have also been removed and resculpted too look sharper. Will eventually paint the head all black and then dry brush purple to get that comic look.

ML Magneto AoA - Age of Apocalypse style Magneto, base figure is a wonderman, limbs (boots/forearms) and head are from the original Magneto figure. Pretty much all i will be doing there is sculpting some long hair so it flows out of the helmet.

Maximum Carnage Boxset: figures consist of-

Demogoblin - Havent started, but will probably base it on the first spider-man classics hobgoblin (the mcfarlane version), his Fying Flaming glider will be made from the Fiery Red Bird Base that came with the ML Phoenix figure.

Doppelganger - Havent started, but making the head wont be too challenging, its the Extra 4 arms i gotta attatch to the body that may be. Base will consist of Spider-man figures and sculpted hands and feet (3 claws each hand/foot).

Carrion - Sculpted only the head, took some goblin looking creature head from the LOTR figures and sculpted a closed mouth and a hood. Body is off a Fantastic Four boxset Reed Richards. All i have to do there is sculpt some rags hanging off.

Shriek - Havent started but i have a ML green Phoenix which i have pulled apart and prepared, shouldn't be too hard.

Finally, just mucking around trying to make a Morbius out of an XMC maskless Wolverine figure, not too sure how this will go, im not very good with making vampire noses, but i'll keep at it.

Shuriken, I just checked out picks of Savanti Romero from the comics, yeh he does look cool! if i ever come across a horse action figure, that would be my excuse to attempt making this guy!

cowabunga14 06-08-2006 10:00 PM

Moonfog, good luck with the customs you're working on. I can't wait to see 'em when they're all done...especially the Maximum Carnage ones. Have fun workin' on 'em.
