Cartoon music...
This may sound strange, but I think the background music on the cartoon (or at least the first few seasons) is cool. I love that 80's synthesizer vibe.
If they ever compiled it onto a cd (which I doubt will ever happen) I'd probably get it. There's some great portions of music that I could probably play over and over. Some of the greatest music is off the first episode 'Heroes In A Halfshell' which they of course recycled from then on. There's one piece I love in particular...you can hear it the first time on 'A Thing About Rats' when Baxter is arriving at his shop after leaving Shredder and going inside before the foot soldiers approach... Yeah, I'm weird with my musical tastes... |
Dude, I know exactly what you mean when you say the background music is cool. And all these years, I thought I was the only one who felt this way.
I hum the background music from the Ninja Turtles ten seasons all the time. I sing it while I'm walking to and from classes; I hum it to myself when I'm working or at work; I even go a little crazy when I'm doing homework. I have often wondered if someone out there in the world has been able to download every theme that ever aired on the show and has the ability to make a CD of it. If an official one ever came out, I would definitely pick it up! I loved the background music to the Ninja Turtles cartoon. I loved every season of it. I thought it was cool how they would introduce new themes every year, but they would still use some of the older themes occasionally, too. Long live Ninja Turtles cartoon music! "Aw, what a pity! He won't even get to enjoy his last pizza!" - Rocksteady, from "Cowabunga, Shredhead!" |
I could capture the BG music from the eps (which i also think was great :D i liked the technodrome music... ) but after a while the characters start talking so i'd end up with an either short version or one that has speech on it.
|
Yeah the First Season had the best music, some of it was used in later seasons, some wasn't.
|
i agree with Nickokapo
, the technodrome's background theme was the best, |

"You missed me by a mile, waffle-head!" - Raphael, from "The Starchild" |
There isn't. It's one sound stream, you cant take parts out of it.
|
Aw, nuts!
It's official - I hate sound stream now. "Well, thanks, April. It's been confusing." - Michaelangelo, from "Rhino Man" |

Nice to see I'm not alone! :D
Yeah! I hum those pieces to myself all the time...probably the one I do the most is the beginning of 'Heroes In A Halfshell' where the gang chases April then the Turtle's rescue her. And yeah, the Technodrome music was GREAT! Those were wonderful vibes... I think because I watched those cartoons as a kid, they're ingrained in me so much it still wows me when I watch them... |
Ther first episode is called "Turtle Tracks" :sweatdro:
|
....
I forget to include the episode name. :D

I have a bunch of quotes and stuff on my computer. I just put a boombox up to the TV speaker and captured the sound on tape. Then I recorded it onto my computer. Cheap, not very clean, but listenable nonetheless.
I also really like the ending credits music...that's just great. But its only 30 seconds long! I could listen to that over and over on repeat. |

The ending credits music, that i could get! :D
Since it has no speech over it or anything.. |

Where? I looked around in a few places but didn't see it...

Right here: http://www.thetechnodrome.com/sounds/
It's the third link from the top. Also, the eighth link from the top is about 12 seconds of the Technodrome background music from the cartoon. |
My favorite background music has to be the chase scene tune they would play. I know they had it in "The Mutagen Monster" and "The Big Blow Out", but it was the best in the cab scenes from "Raphael Drives 'Em Wild"
|
I liked all the background music from the series. I also liked it when they tried something different. For example, there was cowboy-type music in "Mutagen Monster" and "Unidentified Flying Leonardo."
The many variations of the original cartoon theme were cool, too. "Where's the beef?" - Raphael, from "Mutagen Monster" |
My favourite music is vary rare on the cartoon and I can't actually think of any episodes it appears in right now. It sounds like it'll play at the beginning of 'The Incredible Shrinking Turtles' but it doesn't. It was only in the first 3 seasons, I think. I'll try to find an episode for an example but I can't think right off right now.
I also loved the technodrome music. It's so funny because it's just straight forward one sound. hehehehe! And the music in the Son of Return Of The Fly II when they first show the technodrome? After 4 minutes in, I think. They have some zaney music before the typical technodrome music. It's nuts! When I used to play ninja turtles, it WAS complete with music done by me! Hahahaha!!! |
ROFL, i have always loved the BG music, that was one of the things that got me attached to the Ratking. I love every theme for evercharacter/place - they are all great, not good, great.
I think the best theme music for a character would be the Ratkings. I like how he has mysterious werid sort of music. Whoever did the music for the original cartoon was dam good, as the intro to the new one is very poor. |
very bad, turtles count it off!!!!!
|
re:
Yeah I loved the music too. Especially the music that played when the the climax of an episode was beginning and ending. And the newer music was cool to. They added other music after the technodrome crashed on that asteroid in dimension-x.

last year, using a tape recorder i taped my favorite sound clips from episodes with music and talking and everything...it was so cool and hilarious i would be on the bus going to school
someitmes i'd be listening to it and i would have to try so hard to keep from laughing out loud! |

LOL! Keno...that means you are a true fan! I could probably listen to that stuff all the time. I am constantly hearing lines from the cartoons all the time in my head...quoting them to myself. Sometimes I break out in smile for no reason and people must wonder what my problem is! LOL!
|
yea you should try making one of those tapes! its a great investment!
my friend did that with her favorite movie, she taped the whole movie on audio so she could listen to it whenever she couldnt watch it. its kinda like that! |
Recording a movie to audio tape? The point gets lost there...

When I was younger, I used to get up real early in the morning so I could watch the Ninja Turtles cartoon, whether it be on CBS or FOX or USA. And I would record the shows onto cassette tapes with my Fisher Price recorder. I'd hold the recorder up to the speaker on the TV, press the RECORD button, and then I had the episodes taped. I probably have over 50 of those cassettes, with four episodes on each cassette (some of the episodes accidently got taped twice). I would tape them, and then listen to them all the time. If my mom was making me clean my room for the 100th time, I would pop one of those cassettes into my recorder and listen to it while I dusted and cleaned and whatnot. And I would listen to them at night to put me to sleep. Heck, I still listen to them all the time to this day. I have a pretty big trek to make between home and college, so I always have a couple of those cassettes handy for the long drive. I'd rather listen to those home-made cassettes than the crap that's on the radio any day. So I can totally relate to what you're saying, Keno. I don't think there's anything wrong with recording something - whether it be the Ninja Turtles movie, or the cartoon - so you can listen to it later. I just made some brand new recordings for this school year, in fact. "It's gonna be a free for all if you don't pipe down!" - Raphael, from "Four Musketurtles" |
I used to do that as a kid too. I made an audio recording of the ep "Adventures in Turtle-Sitting" which I;d listen too all of the time, even after erasing the video tape I had recorded the show on.
|
Ok, I finally found a spot that has my favourite music of the show in it! The music at the beginning of 'Cowabunga Shredhead'! It also appears in the middle of 'A Thing About Rats', I think. But I always loved that music.

Great thread guys - I was in 8th grade when the TMNT weekday syndication was in full swing and I loved those songs too - I think my personal favorite is the theme that plays in turtle tracks when the street punks are fighting in the stret - very powerful violent theme.
I loved the arcade music too - I have it all on my site's server and it's available elsewhere too. While I'm on this topic, does anyone know a source (like a friendly TMNT fan) who has the first couple of seasons on tape (vhs) for sale, dubbed? Ahhh, that would take me back. Transformers and GIJoe need TMNT to be by their side in my vhs library. I will do a little digging - maybe some of the cartoon music is available online in mp3 or wav formats. :) |

are you talking about the one with the funny guitar riff? |
It was mostly keyboard and was played when Bebop and Rocksteady were fighting - it was a recurring musical theme that they used a lot in the show, I'll try to dig it up
|
cool, i'd like to hear it
|
I remember getting all pumped while seeing Turtles on TV when they'd play it - makes you very angry!!!
BTW, is that you (TMNTkicks)? Cool! Post a thread in the new members area and you can get started!!! :) :) :) |

Oh! I really like that music on Turtle Tracks. Beginning to end it is great...that was some great guitar/synth playing there.
My favorite musical pieces off the cartoon are: Technodrome breaks thru the rocks in 'Enter The Shredder' The music at the very beginning of Turtle tracks when the punks tear apart that car. The thugs chase after April, chase her down the sewer and the Turtles clean their clocks. Shredder enters the punks room to recruit 'two of them for an experiment' FAVORITE PIECE: On 'A Thing About Rats' when Baxter arrives back at his laboratory after leaving the Shredder and walks up the steps. A very mellow, haunting little composition. It gives me chills, its so cool. |
