Donatello Statue available now

The official website (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/) has some of the Donatello statues in stock! :D

Price is $125 as it was with the others. I just called and ordered one and was told it should arrive by the end of next week.

Spitfire 12-16-2005 02:23 PM

I want that but not for that price. Too damn expensive.

OA 12-16-2005 06:09 PM

wow..so at last they are available...they must look amazing all together...i'll also wait and find it for cheaper....

TheShowstoppa 12-18-2005 01:32 AM

ya know what... To hell with it. I'm telling you right here and now I would pay the $500 for all 4 of them GARUNTEED on my doorstep by next Friday than have to wait and search for that on EBay or someplace else. It's worth it to me.

Spitfire 12-18-2005 01:54 AM

See me I like money and Ninja Turtles statues are far from top prority on my list. I have alot of other crap to buy before those. Its more like a, it woul dbe nice to have it, kind of thing. I mean honestly what does it do for me? Fo rthat price I could buy 3 video games which I can play and do something with. I could buy turtles comics I can read. TMNT DVDs I can watch. There are way better uses of my money. I kinda don't see a point in owning something just so I can stare at it and say I have it.

OA 12-18-2005 11:32 AM

But ya gotta admit Spit, they are mighty fine to look at it... :)

SlayerX 12-18-2005 11:48 AM

TMNTman, once you get your Don statue, any chance you could post a pic of the 4 standing together?

I was thinking about getting these, hopefully people aren't gouging the price on eBay...

How much do these figures weigh approximatly?

tmntman 12-22-2005 01:21 PM

Here are some photos and a review of Donatello. As a stand alone statue he looks great. But when connected together, Donatello is largely hidden. I've now got all four statues displayed in my office with Leo and Rapheal connected next to Michelangelo and Donatello whose bases are connected. Looks much better that way.

BTW SlayerX, they are heavy. My brother stopped by my office and picked one up and was surprised by their weight. Donatello with base is just under 6 pounds.

Wow they do look so cool :) but as you say you can't really see Don way on the back, they should have made it different ... by itself it seems to be a really good sculpt, by the way great review:)

cowabunga14 12-22-2005 03:18 PM

That's great that this statue came out, but I'll probably just get the Mikey one. That's the one that I want the most. Those pics look great on tmntman's review of the Donatello statue. Y'all should check it out if you haven't already. His reviews are great and they help me know which figures I should buy and which ones I should stay away from. The reviews are helpful and they give me a heads up on the newest TMNT figures for example.

andrewdsz 12-22-2005 04:12 PM

Excellent review!! BTW why all of their eye brand is the same color(red)?

they are red because thats the way it's suposed to be....these are based off of the black and white comic books...which the covers of the books have the tmnt all with red bandanas :)

Here is the way I look at it:

A.) If you're as young as I am (still 20 years young), then you realize that you spend much more money on stupid sh*t than what you would on those statues. For example: If you spend $6 on lunch for 5 days in a work week, after 1 month alone you've spent $120. Now, do you have to spend that much? No. And you can definately go without eating a couple of days. Not to mention any additional items you may buy (cokes, candy bars, extra food to eat) you could easily have the money for one of those in one month.

B.) I realize that at this age I have much worse things I could be spending my money on. Why not spend it on something that I deeply truely want? I just spent $300 + on finding and getting all of the Vol. 1 of the comics (including 6 signed). I want them enough because I feel that I wouldn't be a fan without them. (My own problem, not saying everyone needs to buy the comics.) Now, I LOVE those statues. It would please me more than anything to recieve all of them. I pride myself on finding and getting things that are rare and very valuable. They don't get any more rare and definately no more valuable (besides an Issue 1 in CGC 9.8 with both Eastman and Laird signed) than those statues. I can buy a game, I can buy a CD, but the truth is, those things lose their value very easily, whether it be that the game gets beat, they get scratched, or I find another game or CD I like. Yes, I'll listen to it or play it again, but no where near as much as when I first bought it. However, a statue like that, that I had no hardship in getting (other than having to save the money and order) will mean more to me in the long run. To me, those statues sentementally are PRICELESS!!!

BigApple3AM 12-22-2005 09:43 PM

I agree 100% that people make stupid decisions without even knowing it. Saving money really isn't that hard, the ones that realize this are the ones that won't have money problems in the future and will undoubtably have more successful lives (monetary wise). Buying name brand clothes, cars brand new, cigarettes/booze, etc... and the money flow starts dwindeling. Sure clothes and new cars may be something they enjoy, but I definitely don't enjoy hearing those same people bitch about how they have no money.

I think the main problem is that the statues need to paid for up front. If it was like a layaway deal where they could spend that $3 here or $5 there people would be fine with it. Still I don't want to encourage people to go without eating, it's a necessary thing in life and you may think it's not hurting you skipping meals but you'll have energy problems or won't be as happy due to chemical imbalances and you'll end up getting frustrated in other areas of life (school, etc...) so just eat sleep and be merry and if you have the cash buy the statues.

OA 12-22-2005 10:26 PM

great pics TMNTMAN...i cant wait to get them....

andrewdsz 12-23-2005 12:32 AM

I really do want them, but why are they so expensive... ...? I mean come on Im a college student and 125$ mean a lot to me... ...I used to pay 5 bucks for a bonus set while the turtles are on sale or spend 50$ on ebay for whole lots. (70$ maybe a more reasonable price for these statues).

Where can i get them with a better price? Target.com and amazon got nothing.

OA 12-23-2005 07:13 AM

Its gonne be hard to find those anywhere else but the website for a while now. Both the Leo and Mike Statues were available on those sites a while back for greatly discounted prices (right around $20 not including shipping) but that was probably due to producing to many of them...i doubt we'll see the same thing happen to these latest 3...but who knows..

Also, those statues are absolutely beautiful...i have the Leo and Mike and they are 2 of my favorite items out of my entire collection...i think they are worth the $125 considering the price of most bust and mini busts you see from other comic lines...heck, just compare the upcoming $50 mini Raph thats coming out compared to these massive, beautfiul figures at only $125...but just like with any collectible, its worth only what you're willing to pay for it...

The statue and bust market is very different from the action figure market. And to be honest, $125 isn't unreasonable given the size of these statues. Just browse through some of the statues available on sites such as entertainmentearth.com. They could have cut the price by makeing them much smaller. Or they could have used a cheaper and lighter material for them such as PVC.

If you are hoping for a lower price, you will probably have to wait and hope that Diamond offers them. Diamond did distribute the first two statues which is why they showed up on Amazon.com and Target.com. But after Diamond canceled the solicitation for the Raphael statue last year due to the production delays I wouldn't count on them to offer them. And I suspect that the offical site can't lower the price since they would them be undercutting any stores that actually did decide to carry them.

The way I look at it, we have known these were in the pipeline for 4 years. With one statue coming out each year (except of course for Raphael who was delayed) you really only had to save about $10.50 per month to get these and that was paying the full price for all of them. Or you could do what I did, put one statue on your Christmas/birthday list each year.

Does anyone know anywhere else apart from ninjaturtles.com where you can get any of the Turtles statues? I live in the UK and with shipping the total for each figure would be $171!!! As much as I desperately want them I don't know if I am willing to pay that much and I certainly don't think I can afford to. Obviously a website based in the UK would be preferred but not essential, just somewhere that has them cheaper.

The first two statues (Leonardo and Michelangelo) were offered through Diamond Distribution so they were available through quite a few web sites. But that was a couple of years ago and both have been clearanced out long ago. But the Raphael and Donatello were not offered through Diamond. Actually Mirage's web site is the only place where I've seen either.

JayDee87 03-04-2006 02:26 PM

Oh well, thanks anyway. I guess I'll just either try and save up to get them from ninjaturtles.com or just get lucky with cheap statues on ebay although that is unlikely.

I don't suppose the statues are about in any shops over in America, I have a few contacts who could buy them and send them over to me.

Tigershard 03-06-2006 12:23 PM

I ordered Raph and Don today directly from Mirage. They said Don is backordered, but they expect a new shipment soon. Now I just need to find a place for Raph and Don, I don't have enough room to put all four of them together.

If you have a wide enough shelf (about 3 feet wide) I suggest linking Raphael and Leonardo and Donatello with Michelangelo and placing the two pairings next to each other. Hooking all four together just hides Donatello any way.

jeff the cheff 03-14-2006 09:48 PM

I just ordered them all, so there goes all my tax return money. I am very excited for them, and if I ever regret this purchase and need the money later, I'm sure someone would want them on ebay. But, I'll probably love them so much I never will part with them.

Could be worse. I just spent my tax refund on a brake job and new power steering pump for my car. While not dieing in a firery car wreck is good, it just isn't quite the same.
