Mirage-style Pixel Art

New stuff.

I was bored tonight (or last night... however you want to look at it), and played around on Paint and ended up with these. I think they look pretty cool, so I decided to show 'em off.

Those are very cool. I like them. My only gripe would be that all their masks should be red if it's Mirage style. But since you didn't do weapons they would all look the same so you couldn't tell them apart hahaha

onyx 04-03-2006 08:29 AM

I like them :D Do you plan to add their weapons?

One thing I noticed - is it only me or are their legs just a bit bigger than what they should be?

hazlov2004 04-03-2006 12:02 PM

good job ryona

Mondo J. Gecko 04-03-2006 02:01 PM

:D
...
Awesome stuff as always Ryona... love to see them in action poses...
...
:D

Ryona 04-03-2006 03:28 PM

Thankies. I know what you mean about the masks, Spitfire, but I'm not crazy about all red. They look too plain and lack a sense of individuality that way.

And as for the legs, they're actually fairly big in appearance to the rest of the body in the Mirage comics between '85 -'87. It's the style Eastman and Laird did at the time.

Ah, the classic, generic response from Hazlov. Thanks...

*ahem* Here they are again with weapons this time. Oh, and I made some little ones for fun.

hazlov2004 04-03-2006 03:37 PM

those are good ryona very good

Masked Ninja 04-03-2006 04:19 PM

Sweet. I like the old-school all red color scheme, but I do like different-colored masks too. And actually... all the same color invites some fun experiments on other ways to make them distinct, but I definitely see where you're coming from.

As for the pixely little turtles themselves... they're great! Never tried pixel-art before, but you consistently do a good job. And they also manage to look cute and kickawesome at the same time. :D

XERO 04-03-2006 04:21 PM

Hehe, they're doing the 'Dan pose' from the Street Fighter Alpha series.

Awesome job, Ryona.

Those are really good, Ryo. You're getting better and better at this sprite work.

Aw, thank you, Masked Ninja! ^_^

Yeah, I understand about making them appear different in other ways like how you gave them different body types. I thought that was a cool idea. If you don't mind, I'd actually like to try that one day. :)
In anycase, I like them having their unique colors anyway.

And, I just noticed that "Dan pose"! I swear, that's not what I was trying to do! It just happened!

I'm glad you guys like these pixel things.

Oh, and I was feeling like, what the hell, and made customs of Benvenuto and Masked Ninja.

Hope you two like 'em.

Pure gold, Ryona. Pure gold.8)

Thanks a bunch.:D

KROW 04-03-2006 05:29 PM

Is that an NES controller on his belt?!

Hahahahahaha! Nice touch!

XERO 04-03-2006 05:41 PM

Captain Ben in full effect.:D

Masked Ninja 04-04-2006 01:56 AM

Ahh, sweet! Thanks, dudette!

Ahahaha! The NES controller is indeed a genius touch. I also love how Ben looks practically glow-in-the-dark next to Mask's subdued color scheme. :P

EDIT: Wait... that can't be a naginata in his hand... *squints* Is that one of those guns that you use for Duck Hunt?!

XERO 04-04-2006 09:58 AM

Yep, the classic Zapper.

Those ducks ain't got a chance!

Really, I have no idea. Maybe one hour, I guess...

I was pretty bored tonight, and here's the result... Something new!

Leo leaping down to strike!

CookSux 04-06-2006 09:30 PM

Wow, your skills in different art forms astounds me...

Zachatello00 04-07-2006 12:11 AM

Pretty cool! I wish I could do stuff like that.

Masked Ninja 04-07-2006 12:25 AM

I like it! Leo bears down on you sheathed in blue flame...

Ra 04-07-2006 03:00 AM

...Ryona...

Why the hell do you have to be so good at this O_o

Great job girl :D

Ryona 04-07-2006 04:20 AM

Thanks everyone! ^_^

Practice makes perfect, Ra. ;)

Oh, and that's Leo's battle aura, Masked Ninja.

Here's more! I think you all will really like this one. Took me a long time to make it. I had Leo done last night, I made Raph and Mikey during the day today, and I made Don tonight.
Neat pic, no?

I understood that; it just felt fun to type "blue flame" at the moment. :P Which, I guess, would mean that Leo sweats propane.

Storm Wolf 04-08-2006 01:17 AM

Wow, Ryona! You must have been seriously bored (not saying that in a bad way:P ) That's spectacular! You're pretty good at that...and you did it with paint? That's just...wow.

Didn't it get a bit...tideous?

Lady Venus 04-08-2006 02:36 PM

Wow! W wow! Awesome work you did Ry. Your better then me. :D

Ninjaturtle-007 04-11-2006 09:29 AM

awesome art there wish i had the talent for something like that.... (goes back to making stick figure turtles)

Sliced 04-11-2006 10:23 AM

This is great. Awsome work there. Its really looking like Leo is about to cut Raph's head off... Sorry, I always loved to see those 2 fight.

Here's something I did via paint. It was first suppose to be Triceraton, but while doing it, it changed to go to one of my other passion... Alien vs Predator.

Once again, Ryona, awsome job.
