The Dimension X Story
 

I just watched this one again, probably one of my favourites of Season 4. I love how it seems like Michaelangelo is in charge when him, Raphael, April, Irma and Vernon (and the Neutrinos) are running around. Hehehehe!

Question. That club type place they went to to get Vernon, is that on the same asteroid as the Technodrome? Who ever would have thought it wasn't totally deserted afterall?

True, a great ep by David Wise. Most of the season 4 was boring, But that was probably the best episode from that season.

Season 4 wasn't the greatest but I still liked it and you're right The dimension x Story was a great ep. And no it's not on the same asteroid... it was in a different part of dimension x.

The thing that I think is funny is that apparently, there's oxygen in Dimension-X. Ever notice that no one ever has a hard time breathing there without a space suit?

And even if the technodrome did get free, where would it go? No dimensional portal in that episode. They would have to hop asteroids?

I always loved that ep! The best scene had to be when Mike and Raph wrestled those aliens in the Smash-A-Roni Arena.

Yeah, David Wise has always had some good action in his eps...

MICHAELANGELO: "That little creep's our friend! Sort of."

I liked how in this episode Raphael and Michaelangelo (by them selves) had the responciablity to save the day from Krang, and keep every one safe. It was unique because normally Donatello and Leonardo are the ones who are the primary the stratagist and "take charge" turtles with Raphael and Michaelangelo being more of the troops that carry out the orders and do most of the foot work. And it was nice to see them take charge with out the brains and stratigical prowess of Leonardo and Donatello to over shadow them; and see them act on their own. Raphael and Michaelangelo tend to fall in the back ground when it comes to plan making to win the day, so I was pleased to see these two shine through and see how capable they are. They have an all together diffrent approuch to handling problems than Donatello and Leonardo but it was still effective.

And I agree that Michaelangelo did take charge quite a bit and barked out a few orders, which I loved, but I would say that both Michelangelo and Raphael took charge in this episode equally.

And I don't think the club that Vernon went to was on the same asteroid as the technodrome, since the turtles and neutrinos had to use one of the star mobile cars to fly to the the club.

Well Krang doesn't have any problem breathing the air in earth, so it's not that surprising.

it may have been in some different place in Dimension X.

I think the DImension X story would be the episode right after Plan 6 from Outer Space.

That is wierd because the Demesion X story could very well have served as a season four opener the way it was executed. :ohwell:

Not the same asteroid
 

It's probably not the same asteroid. The club is never seen in episodes then the entire asteroid with the Technodrome is seen.

The asteriod the Technodrome was on was only so much bigger than the Technodrome itself if memory serves. They traveled a few minutes away from the Technodrome and had to retrieve Vernon who wondered off. This is my favorite of the five appearances of Kala,Sask, and Zak. Its because of the plot they are invovled in. It was simple fun mixed with action. David Wise at his best.

Necrobumping actually has its benefits; it shows the longevity in the interest of a topic.

I actually like this better than Hot Rodding Teenagers From Dimension X, which mostly involves introducing them to this world and only really has about 6 minutes of action, as opposed to about 12 minutes of action, beginning when a tornado gets Raph/Mike/April/Vernon/Irma sucked into Dimension X, and also has a crucial return via Don's dimensional portal before being sucked there forever! This episode also involves rescuing. But that still left out some witty moments as well. I even think that club scene was cooler than that arcade in the first Neutrinos episode. It really presents the Neutrinos' homeland so that everyone can relate to Dimension X (except for poor Vernon, of course!)

It's listed here, so it's meant to be bumped. There's nothing wrong with necrobumping unless the thread is no longer relevant, which isn't the case here.

Raph:Oh,be quite vernon or I will give them your home address.

Actually bud, it's:

Vernon: Let's hurry!! April stole my story!!

Raph: Oh can it, Vernon!! Or I'll go back and give those sliens your home address!! :)

This was my favorite episode!! It had the Turtles in the Technodrome/Dimension X for most of the episode formula that made Shredder's Mom and Planet of the Turtles so good, and the fact that Krang's plan was foiled just by moving the explosives. :) Good one, Michaelangelo!!

From what I remember this ep seemed to be written as a season 4 opener along with "Plan 6 From Outer Space" and "Son of Return of the Fly".

The move to CBS might explain since season 4 was aired way out of order here in the UK with "Return of the Fly" being the premier but it does seem odd that they wrote three episodes as Shredder's big return. Seems a bit wonky even for the OT's continuity.

Thanks for posting those. :) I always liked that first picture design of the Technodrome and to my knowledge it's one of the only Technodrome drawings like that on that mountain/volcano. Before that it was typically only used when the Technodrome was supposed to be moving.

I have had the aneurysm encode on CD for 12 years now and it's from the "Hero Turtles", removing the word Ninja and Michaelangelo's nunchuks scene during the fight with Shredder and the mutants in the laundry room. But it's still one of my favorite episodes. I should watch that again tonight!!

Cammy, you should not hold out and pick up a copy of season 4! There are a few good ones like Were Rats From Channel Six,Slash:The Evil Turtle From Dimension X,Splinter Vanishes,Leonardo Versus Tempestra, Raphael Meets His Match, and The Foot Soliders Are Revolting among them.:)

I like it for higlighting my two favorite turtles and we get to explore Dimension X and instead of Leo and Don we get Chanel Six News finest to back up Mike and Raph.Its my favorite Neutrinos appearance too. The interest level of these characters typically depend on the plot at least for me.

Volcanic Asteroid
 

That Volcanic Asteroid, with a breathable atmosphere and a lake which wouldn't be common for small asteroids (seems to be near a star due to hot weather), has always fascinated me, maybe more than any other TMNT setting. Does anybody know if it's inspired by that Triceration asteroid in Mirage-2003.

Also nice to see Michelangelo save the day. I saw a You Tube Commentary that he hates response, act childish, but he's one to count on when needs.

I agree. I am very impressed with 80's Mikey.

I have been re-watching all OT this week, and saw on the wiki that this episode was aired in the wrong order, and is on the DVDs in that order.
The wiki is a little confusing (to me at least), as it suggests that this episode should be viewed first in the CBS run... well... where does that fall in relation to everything else?
Should I watch this after Turtles of the Jungle, or after Back to the Egg?
They're the only two logical places that it could be talking about.

No, the most logical spot would be after Plan Six From Outer Space... if you can manage to ignore the foreshadowing of their European vacation. Either The Dimension X Story or Plan Six serve as a decent season premiere.

Oh ok, thanks! Well, I have already watched Plan 6, and all of the European vacation, so I'll watch Dimension X Story next, and then carry on from Turtles of the Jungle :tgrin:

I've always like the Volcanic Asteroid setting. Is it inspired by the Mirage Comics' Triceraton Asteroid?

I watched this episode today, and taking into account what has already been said about where it should fall in the season run, it definitely doesn't make a lot of sense.
Even if you put this before Plan 6, which it seems like it should be, Plan 6 seems to indicate that episode also takes place right after S03 ends.
I guess we just have to accept that Plan 6 and Dimension X Story are almost alternate timelines that run alongside one-another. The events of both episodes unfold, then we cut to the winning of the vacation, and cue the Vacation Side Season.
Continuity does my brain in! LOL!
