Three Year Anniversary
 

Wow... it just hit me right now... Today marks the THIRD anniversary of my joining the Drome!! (Along with my brother, The Clerk's 21st Birthday!! Happy Birthday!! ;) :) )

I can honestly say it's been a great three years. A quick three years... But tons of fun and I've made so many friends in these forums. :)

At the risk of getting all chessy and sentimental...

Y'all know who ya are, and how much I love you. ;)

Anyway, been here way too long also. Getting close to retiring ala DamnHooligan.

What exactly is the purpose of "leaving the forums" anyway? There is no contract or anything that requires people to post every so often, so the concept of leaving the forums is just melodramatic and unnecessary. A person who joined in 2001, posted once, and never posted again until today is just as much a member as someone who posts here every day. I don't ever delete accounts that have posted at least once (not counting spammers, of course :P), so there's no commitment required whatsoever.

If you're bored with this place, take a break and come back later. There's no need to empty out your profile, and there's no need to start some sort of "goodbye" thread. Things like that are perceived as pleas for attention, and the fact that this is the internet makes it even worse. Besides, people who do that almost always come back, which makes it even more pointless.

And you think you've been here too long? I've been here for nearly 7 years, and I'm still posting. There are many others who have been posting here longer than you and are also still here. There are other forums out there that have been around even longer than this one that have members who have been posting there from the very start. Does it really matter?

Anyway, back on topic. Congratulations, Jo Dawn! Thanks for sticking around for 3 years, and hope to see you around for many more. :)

I agree with Krang entirely. I've "left" a couple times before but I never made a big deal out of it. I just got sick of posting so I didn't post. WHen I wanted to post again, I came back.
