2K3 DVDs No Longer Being Shipped

I work at Best Buy and I was stocking shelves, I noticed the only 2K3 DVD on the shelf was one copy of the Season 4 pack. The rest were the movies*Which we had tones of of* and tons of old toon DVDs.

So I figured I'd look them up, and in the Best Buy PC their status is deleted. I also noticed Wal-mart and Target no longer carry them either. If they carry any their back stock. So that means if you want any 2K3 DVDs your going to have to order them online if you want them from now on, unless your store has back stocked ones like I mentioned.

I'll try and keep you guys updated if I see any new TMNT DVDs out. I do inventory so I stock everything and we get stuff like a week before it comes out. If a store ever tells you they don't have something the day it comes out their lying. They have it their just not allowed to sell it until the street date. If they do then the company won't ship them anymore copies.

We have Gears Of War in our back but we can't sell it, and the day before FF12*I think it was* came out we sold a few copies but my manager said it was okay because they ordered it online and picked it up in the store, so keep that in mind too.

Ecto Jedi 11-02-2006 03:02 PM

And another era comes to an end, my friends.

gobo 11-02-2006 03:04 PM

:o Could this be in preparation for season sets?? *crosses fingers and toes*

No because if that was the case they wouldn't have deleted TMNT 2K3 series from the stock list completely.

That is strange. Have seen some at Wal-Mart and Target. But, maybe as you say, they're backstock. Haven't checked Wal-Mart for a little, but when went to Target yesterday they had Season 4 pack, and Vol. 12 (Croc Attack). And a Best Buy had Season 4 pack, the Movies, and most of the Classic Toon Volumes.

Also of note, when my mother was checking about Sonic X Season 5 pack at a Best Buy (and asked an employee), Sonic X was also found to be "discontinued" in their system.

Edit: *Add-On* Wanted to make note of this as well. Have seen some older 2K3 TMNT DVDs at FYE, Toys R Us and, of all places, Marshalls (a few times).

Jo Dawn 11-02-2006 03:16 PM

I thought they stopped shipping forEVER ago. I've been saying for over a year now, that they haven't carried any 2K3 stuff around here since before Don's picture was done on the spines.

...I almost kinda figured that everyone just got them offline... *shrugs* Guess we're ahead of our time here? Or we just suck.

No, wait. We suck.

Yeah, have read your postings on that.

But nope, they've still been showing up regularly for others (myself included). Including, as noted last reply, in strange places too.

Bevandera 11-02-2006 03:51 PM

Thanks for the news, Spitfire. Our Best Buy carries the season 4 pack and a few leftover copies of Hun on the Run, but hasn't had any others in for awhile. I suppose this was inevitable :ohwell: I already have them all, but this makes it a little harder for new fans to get into the show.

gobo 11-02-2006 04:04 PM

If there's no 2K3, that only makes FF look better. Right?

ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael 11-02-2006 04:04 PM

Thanks for the info. This doesn't sound good.

Let's just hope that doesn't mean no season sets.

Spitfire 11-02-2006 04:44 PM

Took Batman Beyond forever to get a season set so who knows about TMNT. Wouldn't count on it to much unless 4Kids really wants to cash in.

They wanna make money those lazy asses should put out season sets of the episodes in order. Id even buy that after already buying all the normal DVDs.

Warhorse 11-02-2006 04:47 PM

Well this explains why I haven't been able to find any of the newer episodes. Do you have to order them online, or could you special order them through a book store or something?

This is a strange mess, just before the holidays, and the new movie coming up.

Like I said online stores carry it. Try DVDempire.com

Spike Spiegel 11-02-2006 05:18 PM

Aww mayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyn....

Oh well, the lost season will be out on DVD soon enough... or will it???

Either way this is really *$%$*^%*$%^ing me off...

Spitfire 11-02-2006 05:21 PM

Should be, I'm working until mid-January so I'll be sure to keep you guys updated.

gobo 11-02-2006 05:44 PM

*tries to unknot his fingers and toes* Dang it! :x Well... at least I'm ready for "The Lost Season". :)

Doppleganger 11-02-2006 09:14 PM

Yeah I haven't been seeing any of the older 2k3 stuff in the Best Buys around here in a long while. I go to those stores a lot yet they don't have these in stock? This is not good. :o

Ecto Jedi 11-02-2006 09:40 PM

Surprisingly, the last DVD shop I visited -- Starstruck Entertainment, in Square One Mall -- had most (if not all) of the new 'toon DVDs in stock. Though I agree, I haven't seen many at Best Buy and virtually none at Wal-Mart.

Jo Dawn 11-02-2006 10:18 PM

Well, man. I feel gypped now that I know everywhere else had them and I didn't.

...I want them...

gobo 11-03-2006 04:58 AM

There's a sale for 40% off of all Funimation DVDs at RightStuf.com right now. These two incidents wouldn't be indications of a business on its last leg. Would it? :ohwell:

Not sure, but kinda doubtful given Funimation's record of DVD releasing (though they mainly do Anime, that's quite a popular part of it -- along with other releases like TMNT, etc.).

Edit: Well, this is weird. Something must've been wacky with the site's time-denoting earlier this morning...

Jo Dawn 11-03-2006 08:50 AM

S'cuse my ignorance, since I haven't had access to any of these DVDs, I'm not sure of the answer...

But what do they mean when they describe it as edited? What's cut out of it?

...and yeah, the time thing with gobo and Jon is funky, heh.

edit - and me, apparently. gobo's is somehow from the FUTURE!!

Well... a few of the DVDs have cut the opening 'intro' dialogue (prior to the theme), mainly on early Parters as I recall. Otherwise I think they're complete.
For online descriptions (as I take it you're refering to), alot of sites note that ("Edited") with most of Funimation's releases (since their main stuff is Anime). Just a bit of a fluke, relying on the typical shows the company distributes.

Masked Ninja 11-03-2006 10:12 PM

Guh. I still have some of season 1 I was hoping to be able to pick up. But yeah, only places around me have Hun on the Run or Season 4... and I already have those covered. ;)

I wish internet shopping didn't make me so paranoid.

gobo 11-04-2006 03:24 AM

I'm not sure how this happened, but I actually have two copies of "The Ultimate Ninja" DVD. Anyone care to take it off my hands? It has never been opened. BTW, the earlier volumes are even disappearing from the online places, so everbuddy needs to hurry up with finishing their collections.

Hmmm... honestly, I want to think so. If one thing has made the single disk releases sluggish, it's that there are too frikkin' many of them to keep up. I'm a HUGE TMNT 2k3 fan, but the only DVD I have in my collection is The one with the Kirby episode... and I only bought it to see the new ending.

I honestly feel, with the movie coming up, they'd be stupid NOT TO release them in season sets. Even if it's just the first one.

Hey! You live in MA? Sometimes Newberry Comics has used copies of some of them, for only 6 bucks each. I almost got return to New York. Also, in case you don't have it, the Target in Everret STILL has all these copies of Croc Attack.

BTW.... AS for Best Buy? Of course they don't have them in stock or order. After 5 months of certain DVD release, they stop shipping... you know, so they have room for Umpteenbillion copies of Scary Movie 4, Little Man or some other crappy movie that just came out on disk a couple weeks ago. One time, I was looking for something, and they had millions of unsellable Stuart Little 1+2 box sets, loitering on the shelves. If you still want these things, either try on-line, or local indie music/DVD store chains. That's where I do MOST of my DVD shopping, anyway.

Ninja Tiptup 11-13-2006 01:18 AM

I've noticed that for the new series lately you've basically had to buy them around the time they come out or you may never see them again. I was lucky enough to find back stocked ones here and there.

The old Toon DVDs are considerably more available. I've been able to find all 5 volumes together on a few occasions but at least 2-4 or 2-5 even more than that. I also noticed my local blockbuster doesn't have any of the new TMNT but they carry 2 of the old series DVDs.

There really just isn't enough love for this show. It deserves much better treatment than this. But more importantly it deserves box sets with bonus features.

That's why I feel they'd be idiots NOT to make box sets. A ) it would be cheaper on the part of the consumer to buy multiple episodes in one set, than to release them 3-5 eps per disk. B ) Maybe they aren't selling BECAUSE there's too many of them, to keep track of, and only places like FYE have more than 1 volume at a time.

Ra 11-16-2006 02:46 AM

I've noticed this last year, but it might having something to do with the fact that we have upside-down palm trees here. We're about two years behind you guys, yet I have been unable to find any new DVDs past "What a Croc" lately. Then again, I haven't been able to look lately :ohwell:

Still, this is pretty cruddy. Maybe this has something to do with Fast Forward coming out before Ninja Tribunal on DVD? *thinks* 4Kids seem to value FF over NT, so maybe they are clearing the playing field before they sell the junk? Either way I'm not a happy camper hearing about this *frowns*

Cascadia 11-17-2006 08:10 PM

The official site has even more bad news....apparently, 4Kids will not release the Lost Season set in January. :x I do not know about everyone else, but I was looking forward to this set because I do not get On Demand. Also, On Demand has dropped the Lost season.

Ra 11-17-2006 11:37 PM

Okay, that's it. Who wants to kill 4Kids? I'm going to strike next week. This is only adding to my argument that 4Kids WANT the Lost Season to "vanish", so to speak. They want it out of the way so then they can shove Fast Forward down the throats of kids who watch Ninja Turtles religiously every Saturday morning. I'm sure they are trying to put it off for as long as possible, if not perminatly *lets out a furious sigh*

But, if you can find an Australian site that sells the Lost Season over the internet in a few months time, all you folks in North America can buy the season and wait about six weeks before it is yours too keep. The only problem then will be the regional zones crap, which in my opinion needs to be scrapped since we are becoming more global everyday. I'm sure everything will play out right, but until then I'm going to see what makes 4Kids tick *puts on an army hat*

gobo 11-18-2006 08:42 AM

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Force Feeding

blah
Let's wait to see what they do around movie time before carving their tomb-stones, shall we?

Whitewolf89 11-18-2006 12:41 PM

You guys DID notice that Dan included the mailing address to 4Kids Home Video in that update, didn't you? :-? IF you didn't, here it is (and I quote):

'In the meantime, if you'd like to contact 4Kids and request that the DVD set be released, you can write to them at the following address:

4Kids Home Video
53 West 23rd Street
Newford, NY
10010."

End quote.

I strongly suggest that we hammer these brainless wrencheheads with snail-mails as WELL as e-mails to let 'em know that we want our "Lost Season" DVDs! Hopefully, they'll listen. Hopefully.

The Target I go to has tons of copies of Croc Attack also. That was the only TMNT DVD they had, and they had like 7 copies. Doesn't seem like smart retailing, but maybe they know something I don't.

I'm way a head of ya, sis. I'm sending an e-mail today asking why Australia and New Zealand, instead of America, is getting the Lost Season first. Hopefully we will get some answers out asking them and bugging them with letters and e-mails...

Spitfire 11-18-2006 08:52 PM

Funi did well this quarter because they released 5 billion DBZ, DBGT, FMA, and Inyuasaha DVDs that sell liek crazy because every 12 year old think it's the best anime ever.

Masked Ninja 11-19-2006 03:52 AM

If I was ticked before, I'm REALLY ticked now.

No words can express my bewilderment at 4Kids' brand of thinking. I mean... wow.

If you're going to do the FF crap, at least give us the last of the REAL new TMNT so we can be at peace.

hopefully we won't have another forever war on our hands...I mean thats bad enough to still be waiting for and end to the archie series...I mean think if we have to wait to see these episodes.
I really don't see the lost season taking that long though because Peter Laird spent good money on these episodes I highly doubt he'd just let them sit around and collect dust.
I'm really mad about this also and I really think it's time we show them how much we care because we have an exact adress now thanks to Dan.

Chris 11-19-2006 06:52 AM

Here's the letter I'm sending when I get to a post office next week;

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you in regards to your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVDs. I have been a fan of the show since it began in 2003 and have collected all of the DVDs released so far. As I’m sure you are aware the show’s fourth season ended on a cliff hanger with the “Ninja Tribunal” episode but for various reasons the original season five that followed from this cliff hanger was replaced with the current Fast Forward season.

For a while now it has been said that this thirteen episode “Lost Season” will be coming out on DVD. Indeed your recent “Season Four” DVD release did not include the “Ninja Tribunal” episode prompting many fans, myself included, to believe that this episode would be included on the “Lost Season” DVD set.

This last week it has been brought to the attention of the fans, via the official site and by Mirage writer Steve Murphy, that the “Lost Season” has been removed from your release schedule. Mr. Murphy also revealed that one of the episodes, “Nightmares Recycled”, was abandoned early in the animation process due to it being considered “too over the top”.

The official Ninja Turtles site recommended that fans write in to 4Kids to say how much they wanted to see these episodes released on DVD. Personally I cannot think of a better time to do this. You could easily release the set in March 2007 to take advantage of the increase in interest that the new movie is sure to bring to the franchise. Or since Fast Forward is only thirteen episodes this season, which means it will be over by Christmas, you could air the episodes on TV around the movie’s release and then bring out the DVD set at the same time as the movie comes to DVD.

Mr. Murphy also confirmed that the “Lost Season” would be coming out on DVD in Australia and New Zealand next year. I must ask that whilst the Region 4 release is a twelve episode collection, please make the US/Region 1 release thirteen episodes and include “Ninja Tribunal” as it was not on the “Season 4” set and is needed as it was essentially the pilot of the season storyline. The set should include the following episodes;

104. Ninja Tribunal
105. Lap of the Gods
106. Demons and Dragons
107. Legend of the 5 Dragons
108. More Worlds than One
109. Beginning of the End
111. Membership Drive
112. New World Order Part 1
113. New World Order Part 2
114. Fathers and Sons
115. Past Present
116. Enter the Dragons Part 1
117. Enter the Dragons Part 2

I would also ask that you included the script for the cancelled episode 110 “Nightmares Recycled” as a special feature, I know it would be greatly appreciated by the fans who have been looking forward to the “Lost Season” since “Ninja Tribunal” aired earlier this year. Since the episode started being animated, which means that the storyboard video with dialogue should have been completed, and I’d love for that to be included as a special feature as well, but I’ll understand if you do not want to include that given the reasons behind the episode being cancelled. Though I do feel that the script at least is an essential special feature for this collection.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep the fans updated regarding the status of the “Lost Season” and its eventual release, either via responses to our letters or via the official site. Hopefully there will be good news regarding these DVDs in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

Christopher Lyne
