This supports my theory that Kevin Smith is only a casual fan (or just a really successful sell-out). I love his work, but he's never given any indication that he has a sentimental attachment to the Turtles. But, I'm rather glad Mewes was locked out. We don't need to feed his addictions.

Not true. Silent Bob spoke in the Safety Tips, Rainy Day Fun and Science Sez segments, and Smith also did the voice of a lesbian geisha in the baseball episode (and I think he did another voice somewhere too, but I can't seem to remember where).

Kevin Smith is a big comic book fan and has written comics before. I'm sure some of that involves some sort of appreciation for the Turtles.

I think Jason Mewes would have been an okay voice for Michelangelo.
