Season 1 Set Coming?!

That's one of the DVD releases listed on a Toon Zone news item of 4Kids DVDs for the end of May, at least.

nimrod 01-30-2007 07:34 AM

If this is an actual season 1 set of the new show (all 26 eps) I will strongly consider buying this depending on the price. I held off on buying all the individual discs in hopes that real season sets would be made at some point. Hopefully they put the season in one case so it's not just a box with all 8 dvd cases.

CyberCubed 01-30-2007 08:52 AM

If they do boxsets, the episodes better be in proper order.

Season 2, 3, and 4 are horribly out of order on the DVDs.

X 01-30-2007 09:01 AM

Actully season 2 is in order, the only thing you have to do to make it in order is to label city at war volume 13 and not battle nexus. Having all Turtles discs in my DVD player, I put the City at War disc before Battle Nexus, and poof, in order season 2. Now season 3 is where it went all downhill.

I hope this news is true and all of it is in order. That'd be a good thing on 4Kids part. Now they need to release TLS on DVD.

Not quite. Season 2 started getting out-of-order at Vol. 11 (Ultimate Ninja), and kept doing eps. out-of-order through the rest of the DVDs, in one way or another.

But yes, would be nice to have Sets for those that haven't gotten the DVDs.

sdp 01-30-2007 09:32 AM

ToonZone is reliable so i'm happy about this :D

Turtleman100 01-30-2007 11:18 AM

So the boxsets will be in order with extras. If thats what the boxsets will be.
I will get it .If not I won't.

Don't know. The other poster's are just pondering on it. Though. Season 1 was done in-order on the single-discs anyway. So won't be much difference in that aspect (other than if they do more episodes per-disc, thus having less amount of discs).

Masked Ninja 01-30-2007 12:05 PM

If this turned out to be true, I would be ever-so-happy. I own the first disc, but none of the others from season 1.

ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael 01-30-2007 12:14 PM

Oh god I can't wait. Whether this is just a collection of the frst several DVDs or a actual box set(complete with extras), I'm getting this no matter what.

gobo 01-30-2007 01:49 PM

I'm sure it doesn't need to be said, but I'll say it anyway. I'll gladly get it if it's not just the first 8 DVDs in a flimsy cardboard box. I already spent too much on the 8 volumes. If this is an item that fixes all their previous screw-ups and perhaps even has all the same and more extras, I'm buying copies for everyone (maybe). ^_^

TheGreenMagic 01-30-2007 02:22 PM

Oh, now this is good news. Admittably I'll buy the season set even if it is just a box with all the separate release (since I only own Shredder Strikes, Shredder Strikes Back and Return to New York from the first season).

And if it is an actual season set... even better. That'll be a nice sign for future releases.

Leonardo_Warrior_Turtle 01-30-2007 03:04 PM

Great news! For those of you looking for the link, you can find it here: http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=14669

4Kids' release schedule for May is out, with May 22nd seeing the release of Winx Club Season 2 Vol. #2, Yu-Gi-Oh GX #3 and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season One Boxset.

The sole release for May 29th is Yu-Gi-Oh Season 5 Vol. #1.

:D OH HELL YEAH!!! I'm sure glad they are wising up. It's going to be nice to have all 5 seasons on my shelf.

(That's seasons 1 to 4 and then the Lost Season, which is Season 5 in my eyes.)

I'm hoping it's not just the first 8 DVDs released together in one package. I want something a bit fancy like the WB does for the Batman animated series DVDs. They would save a LOT of money just putting all 26 episodes on 4 discs as opposed to just grouping the first 8 DVDs together. Plus, I want all the episodes in order anyway. The DVDs they got now are all screwed up. So, if you are reading this 4kids, give us Turtles fans justice!!!!

I've been waitin' for these babies! First smart decision 4Kids has made in a damn long time...Let's hope all the seasons get similar treatment, so I can live happily ever after.

Spitfire 01-30-2007 04:54 PM

Season 1 boxset, a boxset for the 2K3 series, being released by 4Kids. You all spazed that they would screw us out of The Lost Season this is pretty good sign we will be getting it. And I'm all up for re-buying the DVDs in a set, in order. I don't care if I bought all the other ones already.

Roseangelo 01-30-2007 05:01 PM

Yeah, I'm a sucker and will probably rebuy.

Wait, weren't the first season DVDs already released in some kind of package? Or am I just hallucinating again?

Kendamu 01-30-2007 05:27 PM

Yeah. In the form of a $70 boxset.

I thought I'd seen that somewhere -- and I distinctly remembered the insane asking price. So it appears that this latest Ninja Turtles release won't just be the regular DVDs repackaged together! Rad. :)

Worst thing was it was $70 for just the first 4 discs, not the first season. You could buy the individual discs off of Amazon for a combined total of $45 at the time

Kendamu 01-30-2007 05:38 PM

I just got the first four in the mail yesterday for about $25.

I love eBay.

Mandi-chan 01-30-2007 05:39 PM

FINALLY!

Now, please let this boxset be the WHOLE season with the eps in order.

I don't care if it has Special Features or not, I just want the whole season in order.

Hopefully, we'll see the other seasons get boxsets (with the eps in order) in the near future too!

Good thing I decided to hold off on buying more of the show, I just recently decided to give up and buy the messed up dvds...this news came just in the nick of time for me!

Ninja Tiptup 01-30-2007 06:29 PM

I too shall double dip. Especially since some of the discs have errors including the very first one. Season sets are so freak'n sweet. Many TMNT marathons shall be enjoyed.

gobo 01-30-2007 07:28 PM

Upon further inspection of this claim, I found the reason for it. While I wouldn't be surprised if these guys are getting us excited over a very small improvement (not unheard of), they suggest the MSRP will be $25. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell 8 DVDs worth of cheap plastic cases plus a newly designed flimsy cardboard box for that low a price.

As far as The Lost Season is concerned, 4Kids probably made an internal compromise to release it if sales for the season sets go well. If/when they get to season 4, TLS should be next. For that reason, I may very well pick up Fast Forward 1 after I get the season 1 set. More money thrown at Turtles DVDs being given the proper treatment can only help prove our point. However, I won't be getting FF2 until I have a S2 set. That's the deal they have to make with me. ;)

So, wait -- is this good or bad? I'm confused. :-?

CyberCubed 01-30-2007 07:49 PM

Anyone else hope for those Peter Laird interviews to be included on this? I loved those.

sdp 01-30-2007 08:02 PM

25$ MSRP?
I do think it'll be all 26 episodes of Season 1 in a four disc set, probably with no extras. it won't be a 'boxset' maybe just a double sized amaray case. I'm glad they're going for a cheap prize, hopefully this doesn't mean something bad like just 13 episodes. Hopefully we get extras though i don't see them likely.

How good were the extras in the volumes?

Spitfire 01-30-2007 09:14 PM

The first half season box set was 40 bucks, you paid 70 you got really ripped off.

JetsAndHeels 01-30-2007 09:19 PM

I say bring it on.

If I can buy 3 or 4 versions of the Star Wars movies then why not this!! :)

Oh, it's good. I'm just saying that TRSI (the source of this revelation) has been known to give us false hope before. So, until other reputable sources start saying they got the same story from Funi, I'm not so sure their specs should be trusted.

Absolutely! Parts 5 & 6 were skipped over for the videogame demo, so I'd be delighted to see them. But, I do kinda think they should separate them, and have them play before their respective eps. Sitting through 3 or 4 spoken overviews gets a bit taxing. And, it was great getting a sense of what Peter Laird looks and acts like, but I wish he would have said something that I hadn't already picked up on by watching the show. It was an excellent idea to start out with. It just didn't prove itself worth the production cost, I guess. Outside of Season 1, Pete & Stan Sakai cutting up in an interview for the 'Battle Nexus' DVD was the only other one.

That's just under $1 per ep. Of course, they're worth more than that. But, who's complaining? :embarass:

The first 4 Volumes as well as 7 & 8 each had ep-specific interviews with Peter Laird. All 8 had character profile shorts. Volumes 7 & 8 both had 3 a piece. There were some toy commercials, a short behind-the-scenes featurette and animatic comparisons featurette. Those were the good ol' days. Extras past Volume 8 were very sparse and pretty lame.

Whitewolf89 01-30-2007 09:24 PM

Man, I know that I'M going to get it, too, irregardless of the price! Like MOST people, I just bought the individual ones as they came out, 'cause that was basically all that I could afford at the time.

*pauses as she thinks something over* Does anyone know IF the price for this has been posted yet? Or is it too early to find out that kind of information?

Anyway, it looks like my poor old wallet is going to be taking a SEVERE beating over the next few months. First the Fast Forward DVD in February, THEN the new TMNT movie being released in March (followed soon after by it's release on DVD (IF I know ANYTHING about movie companies and their ways, that is;) ), then this. IF they happen to FINALLY fit the release of The Lost Season in there somewhere, I'm gonna wind up being terminally BROKE! What the SHELL is a girl supposed to do; give up getting her TMNT comics?! (NOT a chance in SHELL!!! )

EDIT: $24.95? That's not too bad a price for a whole season. I think that I can manage that..............

Besides, I personally think that some of you are fretting unnecesarily over this. Let's just wait and see what develops, okay?

For anyone who knows, has Funi ever done anything with commentary before? If not, we might be able to expect it for Season Two. TMNT hasn't sold well enough for them to spend the extra cash to record commentaries just yet. But, if this item becomes an instant hit, who knows? :D

Michelangelo-Sama 01-31-2007 12:56 AM

The sets should be in complete story order, completely uncut and unedited, no TV rating in the top left hand corner (that drives me nutz). It would be great to have commentary with Peter Laird on every episode and new interviews with him and everyone involved with the new series including writers and voice actors. This goes for seasons 1-5. Fast Forward would not be included. I wonder why they are waiting so late to release them instead of putting them out when the new movie is released, that would be the smart thing to do, but 4Kids is not known for doing anything smart. The same goes for Funimation.

What makes you honestly believe that if the previous boxsets sell well, that they won't make one for Fast Foward? (with all 26 combined, unlike the 13 episode set out right now).

You may have gotten a deal on yours, but it was $69.95 at Amazon, $69.98 at zStore, listed at Funimation with a $69.99 MSRP, etc.

At the time they decided to make the FF DVD, 4Kids was planning to make those 13 eps a full season. If we do in fact get a box set for FF, it'll be after Season 5 ('The Lost Season'/'Ninja Tribunal') which will be a while. That is, unless they decide to just take the two 13-ep Volumes, and repackage them in a flimsy cardboard box. Until we know for certain that 2K3 is finally getting the respect it deserves, there will be less people worried about FF getting a 'perfect' treatment. The 26-eps of (production) Season 6 is a very minor annoyance to most people, I'm sure. At least it isn't more than that... But, if (production) Season 7 gets a single-disc for all 26 eps (assuming it'll have that many eps) as its first release, maybe they'll fix this minor annoyance even sooner.

Anarchistguy 01-31-2007 03:02 PM

Hell YEAH!!!

I'm SO glad I held back on the 4 episode sets. Patience is a GOOD thing!!! :D

Leonardo_Warrior_Turtle 01-31-2007 04:05 PM

Now I realize that it'll be a while before the Lost Season comes to DVD here because they'll probably want to release all the seasons in order first. :( Oh well. Guess I'm importing!!!
