What was your first TMNT fig?

What was your first TMNT fig? Whether it be from the old school figures or from the new lines.

Mine was the original Donatello. My dad brought it home after work and gave it to me when I was four, 1989. I carried around wherever we went and he ended up going back and buying me all the other ones from the first series of figs.

Sorry if this was already done, I couldn't find it.

kerfootw 02-26-2007 10:11 PM

My first fig was Krang's robot and Krang in it that I could pull out and have two separate figures. It's been a long time since I was a kid. I sometimes forget how stupid I was--I drew all over Krang's robot!
I like that toy but I don't like to dwell on it. Not with so much hate being driven towards the new series because of that old one.

gobo 02-26-2007 10:38 PM

Ace Duck and a Wacky-Action Mouser (bought simultaneously)

yeah, i'll have to say, when the new series came out, i was hesitant. but now that i've watched them and got into them, I can see a lot of great things about the new series. I'm not talking about Fast Forward though, haven't watched any of them yet, so I can't judge those. but I heard they aren't as good as the stuff from last year and and 2003-05.

But I think the old school figs are better than any of the newer ones. I bought some of the oringal 2003 figs, but they just didn't do it for me.

Masked Ninja 02-26-2007 11:54 PM

I was so little... I don't quite remember which was my first. I do remember having a Mikey figure, and found it great that you could spin him on his back like in the cartoon intro. :D I know I had a Splinter too... probably had Mikey first, though.

sdp 02-27-2007 12:42 AM

My favorite turtle was raphael so my first figure was the first raphael figure, I later got the other 3, shredder a foot soldier and as years passed TONS more turtle variations and other mutants

Sewer Bull 02-27-2007 01:54 AM

Foot Ninja.

Raph's Girl 02-27-2007 02:07 AM

My first fig was Storage Shell Don and my 2nd fig was Secret Spy Don. I was about 9.

Roseangelo 02-27-2007 02:16 AM

My first fig was the original Michaelangelo figure. I was 10.

Scavenger 02-27-2007 04:49 AM

The first one I got was a soccer Raphael (Dunno the real name). My brother had storage shell don, raph (dunno which version), Michalengelo (with spinning hand, I think that Raph is from the same series), transforming leo, Shredder, underwater raph?, original Don. Later I got party wagon, Leonardo boat, motor bike, another water thing, big helicopter, Donatello that could jump, Ratking.

Much later I purchased the first Leo, Raph and Mike figure and the 2003 Leonardo. I dont buy turtles anymore because I collect Transformers and Gundams.

Lionheart3239 02-27-2007 08:21 AM

The first figure that I got was an April O'neal figure 1998 edition. I still have her with all her weapons in a plastic bag. Wow that was 9 years ago.

JetsAndHeels 02-27-2007 10:29 AM

I remember having all 4 of the original turtles when they first came out. The Leo was my favorite from then on.

Boagrius 02-27-2007 04:44 PM

Rat King was my first.

Sonic777 02-27-2007 05:02 PM

Krang's android body.The small one.

Robhp03 02-27-2007 05:06 PM

I dont remember what figures I got first when I was a child. I know I had the originals and the mutation turtles.

But when I started collecting again in 2002 my first figures were MOMC
1988 Raphael - Soft Head / Fan Club Form
1988 Rocksteady - Soft Head

BigApple3AM 02-27-2007 06:14 PM

I found some old home videos of me a while back and so I watched them and in one video I'm in the backyard playing with gengis frog and raphael and I keep throwing them around and our old dog was picking them up and my dad was yelling at the dog and telling me not to throw the figures anymore unless I wanted them chewed on so the last thing before the video cuts off is me throwing it again anyway :D I was like 2 years old, since it was 1989. I remember being in Toys R Us, it's a really hazy memory because I was so young (again, 2) but I grabbed a donatello off the peg, they were at the very beginning of the aisle and the retromutagen ooze was there since it was 89. What's funny is I can actually remember clear as day how I got into turtles, I was at a babysitters and the sitters kids had turtle figures and wouldn't let me play with them. They also wouldn't let me play the turtles video game for NES. Jerks.

Leo has since become my favorite, but Donny will always have a special place in my heart, I think he looks the best of the original figures even if he's not my favorite anymore.

bmxbandit 02-27-2007 06:32 PM

my first figure was the original leonardo and then the foot tall version of leo as well. he was/is my fav.

BigApple3AM 02-27-2007 08:16 PM

Actually spinning hand mike is wacky action series, tongue stretching action is toon mike.

Time Mistress 02-27-2007 09:33 PM

The first April fig. Heard a few years later she was semi-rare. I also picked up original Mike around the same time.

TMNT Power 02-27-2007 09:42 PM

My first figure was Raphael in 1988. My beloved grandman nanna (god rest her soul) always used to take me TMNT hunting when I stayed with her, and she would spoil me.

TheRedOne 02-28-2007 06:07 AM

I actually have no idea. I remember some of what I used to have, but I can't remember my first.

METALHEAD 02-28-2007 06:29 AM

orginal ---i think mikey...or raph...i recall raph....yes.

2003 versoin year 2004-2005 leo. yep. love these topics. funfunfun!:D

Kunoichi_Haruko 02-28-2007 06:34 AM

Well I didn't collect when I was younger, and I never really took an interest in the 2k3 figs, but I've started collecting the new movie figs. Raphael was my first.

Little did she know what she was about to start.... I think all our parents probably feel that way haha.

poobone 03-04-2007 03:44 PM

an old school leonardo, from the first wave. Plain ol' leo. God those days were great.

Starscream 03-06-2007 02:21 AM

My first figure was the original Donatello as well. I remember my friend down the street was bugging me about these cool turtle toys so I pestered my parents to get me one. I finally made them cave in when they wanted to keep me quiet while they looked at houses. I remember pegs and pegs of nothing but Shredder and Splinter at Children's Palace (THE toy store when I was a kid). I had both my parents and myself looking through them all and lo and behold there was one turtle in all of the bunch, Donatello.

Before I actually saw the figures I thought they were going to be just like G.I. Joes, same scale, articulation, and whatnot. I wasn't disappointed but was a bit surprised by the line.

Lol..dude, you are completely right...:P

Raph 03-06-2007 09:56 AM

1988 Don was my first one, I had alot of toys at that time, also from He-man and Ghostbuster and I remember saying to my mom "A please, can I have just one, to display" (Don was the only turtle in store at that moment, later I ended up getting Bebop for Christmas, and after that well ..... :D

Buslady 03-06-2007 10:55 AM

Anybody wanna take a guess who my first figure was?:D

I remember buying him...then... I remember giving all of them away to some kids....i hope they enjoyed them.

Kendamu 03-06-2007 02:32 PM

Original oldschool 1987 Michelangelo with soft head.

Damien Kash 03-06-2007 05:21 PM

The original old school Leonardo figure.
Still one of my all-time fave figures to this day.

I remember really wanting the 3 other turtles after I got Leo.
Think I got them less then a week later.....

VaughnMichael 03-06-2007 05:39 PM

it was the first releases of all 4 turtles splinter and bebop and rocksteady with the squishy heads I remember loving them as a kid cause they would float in the water because of their empty heads lol

Whitewolf89 03-06-2007 10:36 PM

MY first TMNT fig? Oddly enough, it was OS Leo, 'cause I love swords (still do), and he was the sword-wielding TMNT. And back then HE was my fave Turtle, not Raph. HE was just too much of a smart-aleck for my tastes back then.

(:o Ack! Don't kill me, Buslady!:o *dodges brickbats thrown by her irate sys*)

That Matt Guy 03-07-2007 06:44 AM

Usagi Yojimbo, and then Rocksteady I think. Took awhile to find any of the TMNT themselves.

***First of Two Latin Kings*** 03-07-2007 07:53 AM

Raph, The Space-Cadet.

My first TMNT haul came around the build up to Christmas 1990. TMNT or should I say TMHT was released in the UK and the series (despite the watering down) was a huge hit. TMHT figures sold out bone dry over the summer and the shelves were bare in stores everywhere.

Christmas was vastly approaching and everyone just had to have the TMHT toys. Toys R Us was the main shopping chain getting in deliveries of the figures but only 3 figures were rashioned per customer.

So for the next few Saturday mornings my mum made sure we were up bright and early so we could get to Toys R Us long before opening time. The reason being was that every Saturday morning up until Christmas there had been queues of people waiting for ages for Toys R Us to open its doors (much like the queue of people waiting to get a Wii or a PS3) and be the first to acquire some TMNT figures.

There would be a desk as you enter the store with 2 boxes worth of toys straight from Bandai. A member of staff and two others would be at the desk to make sure the figures were rashioned out between the hungry customers.

The first couple of attempts, my mum and I were not even shortchanged. All the rashioned figures were bought and given homes. One week I unexpectedly got lucky when one of the boxes on the floor was not being attended to. I managed to grab myself a Rocksteady, a Foot Soldier and Splinter.

This was a hard mission considering my kid sister was ahold of my right hand tugging away like a dog on a leash. She wanted to look at icky girls stuff and was being impatient. After that, the saturday morning hunts had stopped but I managed to get a set of the Turtles on Christmas morning.

I still have my original haul today. I really owe a lot of thanks to my mum who gave up her Saturday morning sleep-ins so I could have some figures of the characters I loved.

My first toy was METALHEAD!!! That was a great figure. I remember my mom convincing my dad to take me to Toysrus one evening to get a TMNT. I don't think they had ny of the origional turtles so I picked the closest one possible, the robotic one :D Soon after I got a bunch more :D

Blade Raider 03-07-2007 08:43 PM

I have no clue what my first TMNT figure was, but I'm pretty sure it was a Donatello. It was either Undercover Don, Wacky Action Donatello, or the original Don, not sure which.
