new show is amost like the movie

what i am saying that there are searhing for a new home is amost like TMNT2.

heretic888 01-21-2003 08:26 PM

hmmm

read some mirage tmnt. they had to abandon their original home in issue 3 and started shacking up with april.

Jephael 01-21-2003 08:28 PM

The new toon, just like the original trilogy, is based on the Mirage comic books, so there're obviously gonna be alot of similarities between all three versiosn of TMNT.

Dontebell 01-21-2003 08:33 PM

i never read the comic befor cause i wasn't bron until 1986 and i didn't know that the ninja turtles was based on a comic book

Hm... I'd have to say that only the first movie was based on the Mirage storyline.

Sauron 01-21-2003 08:37 PM

I was born in 1986 too :tparty:

I see your point, but keep in mind that the second movie involved the TGRI company which was loosely based on TCRI from the comics. Both companies were responsible for the mutagen that created the turtles in their respective universes.

The same goes for the sceptre from the third movie which allowed people to travel through time. That too was based off a storyline in Mirage, but it was dumbed down for 8 year-olds. They even took out Renet because of her PG-13ish attire.

Dontebell 01-21-2003 08:47 PM

in the movie raphael got knock out but in the comic leo was the one that got knock out would one of them be knock out in the new series?

Cherubae 01-21-2003 09:12 PM

Alright enough of the 1986 crap :P you people are going to make me feel older then I actually am. I was just starting 7th grade back then!

I'm guessing Leo will be the one knock'up the noggin. But I have no intention of reading the episode summaries off of the Mirage website to see if that info is even there ;)

/me Raises hand :tthumbsu:

Dude, I was born in 1977 and I was all over the TMNT the year the cartoon was put on TV.

Prowl 01-22-2003 11:49 AM

I was born in 74 and loved the turtles. Granted I started with the early cartoons, moved on to the comic, was happy with the first movie, and then it ended for me, with the exception of the comics. Now, with the new toon and its style, I am getting what I always wanted. Or I hope, at least. But it's positive hope.

Heh, you sound like me! For me it was the cartoon, arcade game, mirage comics, first movie...then it was like see ya! I mean Ive never stopped being a fan, I picked up the Image crossover and spinoff TMNT titles...but now...now is the time to get back into the shell!

Anyways, good to see folks around my age...I was wondering where you guys were on here!^_^

HorseTechie 01-22-2003 02:41 PM

Ooo... Prowl's a wee older than me. I was born March of 1975.

Yep.. a prime Turtley teenager when they hit the bigscreen in 1990! :D And I said this once, and I'll say it again, I had no idea about TMNT in 1986 cause I was very much into the Transformer comics then. With some Elfquest on the side. :goof:

That makes you the same age as my sister. Unfortunately, she never got into TMNT.

Raphael-sama 01-22-2003 03:41 PM

Gah, please don't tell me I'm the youngest guy on the boards! I feel small. Curse 1988 and everything to do with it! (wait, that's when the old show came out, nevermind...)

As for the show being like the movie: the show is like Mirage, which the movie is also based off of. I do see similarities in the Turtles voices though.

Karpo_007 01-22-2003 03:44 PM

Welll the first movie was basicly a mix of Mirage comics and humour. The new show could become pretty close to that feeling.

Raphael-sama 01-22-2003 03:45 PM

Or a mix of Mirage and Old Cartoon, as I see it.

O/T: We REALLY need some abbreviations for the cartoons. "Old cartoon" and "New cartoon" is killing my fingers.

Jephael 01-22-2003 03:51 PM

I like referring to the old one as the original toon, and I guess we can refer to the new one as FB TMNT.

Dontebell 01-22-2003 04:08 PM

well hun is like tisu and the purple dragon gangs are like those teenager who ambush april

Karpo_007 01-22-2003 04:10 PM

You mean tatsu right? Tisu... heh.

Dontebell 01-22-2003 04:20 PM

yeah tatsu that his name i forgot how to spell tatsu

Jephael 01-22-2003 07:09 PM

LOL, Tatsu. I dunno, Hun still reminds me of Rocksteady as a human thug.

Oh yeah, I was HARDCORE into Transformers around that time.
And I didnt really get into the black and white/indie press stuff til late 80's(TMNT, Fish Police, Cerebus, Miami Mice, etc. good to see other long time indie comic and TMNT fans. Just wish everyone that was and is into the TMNT could know they CAME FROMA UNDERGROUND COMIC BOOK IN THE MID 80's! As much as the cartoon did good, it clouded people's perception.
Im so glad Mikey'sTMNT site uses a more Mirage motif...I hate seeing that Archie look on the official site.

As far as Im concerned, the only real cool look the TMNT had was from the 80's comci series and the new look of 2003(new cartoon, and what Im hoping will be cool; the upcoming Dreamwave comic)

Oh that would be very sweet! Let's all hope! People can live in the old cartoon, but what Im excited about is the future!

Nope, us 1988 born Canadians aren't the youngest! I think..Slash89 was born in..dun dun dun...1989! or not?

Oh, and I was born Early December, '88.

Supermik 01-25-2003 02:03 PM

NOOO

oh no, my God,

If TMNT 2003 serie is so different form my loved 1987 - 1991 series... It's a tragedy. :dead:

I saw the sneak peack on TMNT official site.. i dislike them!

I love 1987 ---> 1991 series. i'm old!... :D

Karpo_007 01-25-2003 03:12 PM

Well it is based on the comic done in 84.

With a sweet edgy new anime influenced style. Comparing this new series to the old one is like comparing the Matrix to the Black Hole movie.

Prowl 01-25-2003 04:38 PM

Yeah TMNT and Transformers have been my favorite "Thing" all my life, and with the exception of the crappy Armada Cartoon, my two favorites are making a great comeback. Bring them on I say.

Dontebell 01-25-2003 04:38 PM

well the shredder has two blade on his left hand like the movie.

Karpo_007 01-25-2003 05:07 PM

I guess shredder will be using a weapon... Maybe a katana?

heretic888 01-25-2003 10:04 PM

hmmmm

the character pics in the official site show shredder carrying what looks like a bisentoh (battlefield-style naginata).

Jephael 01-25-2003 10:11 PM

Did he use that once in an issue of the Archie series? I don't even know what it's supposed to look like.

heretic888 01-25-2003 10:34 PM

hmmm

its basically a bo staff with a large, broad, curved swordblade mounted on one end. it was designed to smash throught samurai armor and horses. it is a battlefield weapon.

the naginata is a smaller version of the weapon, basically a bo staff with a small katana blade on one end.
