Did anyone lose interest after seeing the movie?

I was pretty pumped about the movie figures before the movie came out but afterwards I seemingly lost all interest... I still haven't gotten a Leonardo but I suppose I will. Now I'm into Spidey 3 though.. so the wallet never gets a break

I give them an A for being smaller, I was so sick of having a huge collection of gigantic 6" figures that I started selling them all.

why? almost all action figure lines are that large. They don't fit in with anything else...
I don't like figures that are smaller than my middle finger lol

Like I said, I'm glad, because 6" is just too big

Well since everyone on this board hounds me for real answeres as to why this or that.
I'd really like to know why and unlike them I'm not being an ass.
I've never heard of anyone enjoying smaller action figures before.:)

Shark_Blade 04-01-2007 10:02 AM

I just got this rush and craving for the tmnt action figures again. God, the last time I bought one was back in 1992, and it seems at ebay, everything is available there now:eek: Only got Mike(std), Don(std) and Raphael(hero in a half shell). My first turtle toy Leonardo(std) was stolen when I was 4 or 5 years old.Dammit. I want to retrace back my memories.

Rockzero 04-01-2007 10:51 AM

Not a chance. If anything my interest has only increased. Great movie, great figures. :)

Greed 04-01-2007 12:24 PM

After seeing the movie I wanted to collect more of the movie line.

I think they are decent but yeah they are too small and plus I have seen some WalMarts around here that charge nearly $9 for just a basic figure.

Head Spinnin' Bebop 04-01-2007 02:42 PM

No way, my interest has only increased. After I saw the movie I wanted even more and hope the line continues because its so much better than the TV series line, blows it away IMO.

I love Spider-Man and will see it, but the movies I've only been okay with so far. Like X-Men though, maybe the 3rd movie will be the charm and I'll really love it.

For the most part, I don't like movie figures anyway, don't buy them unless they are origin movies like POTC or I had some attachment to it to want figures. With Spier-Man, I feel like I‘m buying Tobey and Dunst figures instead of Parker and MJ figures. With Spider-Man I prefer TV series or comic based figures. Depends on the movie.

This is a great year for movies though, usally I go to the theater once a year, if that because I don’t like much. But this year, TMNT, Pirates(can't wait), Simpsons, Transformers, Spider-Man. Good year!

Yeah like I said the sculpts are nice but they are to small to fit in with anything else. The exact opposite effect the TMNT movie figures had on me Sans a few.

I don't understand why these are so much smaller. The toys for SM1 and SM2 were larger and more to scale.

They were in the same scale as the Marvel Legends line but I haven't seen the new SM figs but how big are they 4" or 5" ?

JetsAndHeels 04-01-2007 09:56 PM

The SM3 figs are 5 inches, Greed. When Toy Biz had the license for the first two films, the figures were around 6 inches, maybe a little bit more. Now Hasbro is scaling them down a bit.

Nightwatcher 04-01-2007 10:11 PM

Watching the movie made me want to buy more than just the 4 turtles. Now I almost want them all.

Spitfire 04-01-2007 10:27 PM

Spider-man 3 toys suck ass. The TMNT movie toys are better then them. And on that note the Spider-man 2 toys were way better.

The only decent SM3 fig I have seen (and I bought) was the SA black suit Spidey. It is a nice figure, despite the small scale.

But you are right, the TMNT line is hands down much better.

Spitfire 04-01-2007 10:39 PM

Funny you mention the black suit Spidey. I was at Target where they had a sale on TMNT and Spider-man 3 toys. I saw just about every Spidey toy they had, even villains I assume are in the game, but not a single black suit Spidey. I probably would hav gotten one. I'm a sucker for black suit Spidey.

JetsAndHeels 04-01-2007 10:43 PM

I'm glad I bought one when I did, since the day the toys hit stores I have yet to see another Black suit Spidey.

TheAnimatedSeries 04-02-2007 03:00 PM

I got black suit Spidey. I like the scale of the SM3 figures, too. I dont like the loss of articulation, though, but that goes in with their scale to giving them a 90s charm.

It took me forever to find a TMNT Michelangelo with an acceptable face cause on most of them the paint was off and like bleeding from the mask to his face, but its a solid figure and the skateboard is a good accessory. I was going to buy all four turtles but since they basicly are just repaints and I cant buy everything, I'll probably get New Goblin, Sandman and Venom.

Seeing the new movie didnt persuade me against getting them, though. But I wouldnt want any of the other figures from that line, although I would get Karai, I hate her and April's figs and basicly all TMNT figures that have extremely limited articulation.

NoPressApril 04-29-2007 01:29 AM

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I hated the movie, and the figures even moreso. I bought the movie April figure when she first came out but mainly only for the novelty of getting a new April and wearing yellow too. I opened her and was just amazed at how completely uneventful she was. I realize though that "Times are a changin' wilbur" and I stick to vintage because of it. I like the scale of the vintage figures. These movie toys are just too big and so are the new toon figures. I don't buy Art Asylum's new Trek figures because their huge, even though their detail is amazing. I hate large action figures. Playmates, Kenner, etc. spoiled me with 4.5" figures for all of their toys in the 90's and that's my preferred scale for all figures and always will be. I don't care for spider-man though so those figures don't even phase me.

Shark_Blade 04-29-2007 05:05 AM

Just bought Spiderman 3 weeks ago. I got the wall hanging web Spidey and also the normal edition Venom, just because I never have a spiderman action figure before. Spidey and venom were hard to stand. I realize the Black Spidey is rare but it's just a copy figure of my Spidey and only in black paint so no loss for me. Don't really like the black outfit anyway.

Still waiting for tmnt action figures I bought off ebay.Hope I got good paint jobs because I mentioned at the seller to give me the best paintjobs they had.
