The "Coming Out Of Our Shells Tour"

Did anyone here{besides myself} go to see it when it was running{'90-91}?
Let me know,I'd like more info on it{how long it lasted, ticket sales,etc.}.
Also, does anyone have the COOOS video or album? Let me know, thanks!

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 03:28 PM

anyone? :-?

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 04:36 PM

C'mon guys! Somebody'd gotta know what I'm talking about! :-?

azure turtle 01-28-2003 04:40 PM

Yes, I know what you're talking about. I've got the COOTS ablum, but I never attended the actual concert. I wish I did when it came through my town... As a kid, I would've probably gotten a kick out of it.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 04:52 PM

Yeah,it was great. Human Foot Soldiers were shown sneaking around the parking lot on video screens,Splinter gave us morals to think about, and Shredder put "records" in a special machine, then "turning them" into confetti that came out in the crowd! Very similar to the first movie in design,it was great to see! How long did it last? Does anyone know? :-?

Psycrow 01-28-2003 05:47 PM

I was on a Vacation if I remember correctly in the States, so I was lucky enough to go see it! (the "Coming Out of Their Shells" tour didn't come to Canada, if I remember correctly).

But I don't recall the actual length of it though, sorry.

the fugitoid 01-28-2003 05:54 PM

Ah yes, the COOTS tour. I remember that. It was definatey awesome! I've got the video, but not the album. I remember having the program, a blue bandana like Leonardo's, and a COOTS cap that i used to wear all the time, but they've been lost over the years. As for technical aspects like ticket sales and such, I'm afraid I can't help you.

 I have seen the video, it is beyond dorky. I laughed at it the entire time. The Turtles did a lot of milling around on the stage, and Mike must have said "Thank You, We Love You!" 20 times. Splinter's head was about 5 times it's normal size, and his Japanese voice changed into an epic Neil Diamond type voice while he sang. Shredder looked like a Ronin Warrior, and Baxter Stockman was on the brink of turning into Richard Simmons.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 08:25 PM

 All true statements. I forgot Baxter was there! :( Yeah,he definitely was way too "Richard Simmons-like"!

COOTS

Yeah I saw it at Six Flags in Dallas in July 1991...it was cool. I think it was the Coming Out of our Shells Tour, they sang one song with a line like 'we're comin' out of our shells...' so it must have been it. It was a neat little program, I don't remember much of it now. The ending song was catchy, something about 'we'll always be there for you'

Heh...yeah right :D

Six Flags is in Arlington, not Dallas. I just remembered that Shredder spent about 20 minutes insulting 5 year olds who were sitting in the front row.

Kali 01-29-2003 02:45 PM

I never saw the show. I was kinda an "in my world" fan back then, and didn't go out and do things like that. But I was luckly enough to have a friend burn me the album awhile ago, and I love listening to it. (Just wish she'd included "Follow Your Heart" with it.)

The Master Foot Soldier 01-29-2003 04:13 PM

I have the video, It's really REALLY bad! Whoever filmed it did a lousy job! I've never seen the live tour, but one thing(again...) the video... It definitely blows !

I see...all I remember was that it wasn't TERRIBLY far from the Fort Worth/Dallas area. I don't remember how far we drove to get there, I was only 8. I did see the show. :D

I remember he told some kid's mom "How would like a one way ticket to my Technodrome!" And what was the deal with the clothes the Turtles had on, were they supposed to be homosexual?

Oh, let's please not go there again. They were supposed to look like over the top rock stars. I know several homosexuals and NONE of them would ever dress like that unless it was Halloween, and some not even then.

I was being sarcastic.

Kali 01-29-2003 06:47 PM

Okay. Sorry, but we've had past incidents of those remarks in a totally serious manner. Even as a joke, some people still take offense to it.

Reznorite420 01-29-2003 10:19 PM

Oh God, not the COOTS tour!

It did come to my city of San Antonio during that time, but I can remember feeling, "I might be a fan of TMNT, but not THAT much!"

That Matt Guy 01-29-2003 11:06 PM

I imagine if I had known about it when I was little, I would have wanted to go and see it. I'm glad I didn't, what a waste of my parent's money that would have been!

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-30-2003 01:24 AM

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-30-2003 01:26 AM

It was pretty cool at the time. I was only like 7 or 8,man! 8)

xZAOx 02-03-2003 07:29 PM

i just downloaded it on IRC...

OH MY GOD SHOOT ME IN THE HEAD NOW PLEASE END THE PAIN I CANT TAKE ANYMORE I WANT TO DIE LIFE IS NOT WORTH LIVING

and this is only 10 minutes into it!!! this is SO horrible, hahahaha. and yeah, splinter's head is really huge. he must have the world's strongest neck.

must...find...something...to...impale...my...face. ...on....

*edit* oh god the gay pizza men! nooooo!!!

(yes, every 5 minutes im going to update this post with the new gayness im witnessing.)

Karpo_007 02-03-2003 07:31 PM

So you are saying I shouldn't get it?

Donatello02 02-03-2003 08:12 PM

That crap should be illegalized in the US. God awful, a spit in the face to all TMNT fans alike. Have you ever looked up to someone and thought they were the coolest person in the world? Yeah, well take that person, put him in a frilly gown, spray paint him with yellow, green, and pink, take a big bag of hot nickels and smack the person with it acouple of times with it, and then make him sing singalongs about brushinng your teeth, and then you'll have close to an idea of what that show is like for me.

Karpo_007 02-04-2003 02:16 AM

LOL  Maybe il pass then.

xZAOx 02-04-2003 10:18 AM

shredder looks horrible. oh god. this whole production crew should have a slow and tortured death.

if i had made my parents take me to this, i would now seriously go and apologize to them, and be their personal slave for 6 months. then it still wouldnt be enough.

raphael90 02-04-2003 10:24 AM

show

It's been so long, I don't remember much about the show. Back then I thought it was cool being a Turtle fan.

Karpo_007 02-04-2003 10:37 AM

Well I guess that tour was made for ages 2-8 so maybe it's not very apealing to older people.

raphael90 02-04-2003 11:09 AM

show

All I remember is that Shredder steal April's voice or something like that...maybe my memory is fuzzy.

darthsmozers 02-04-2003 02:54 PM

I have the video of the "Making of the Coming Out of Their Shells Tour" lol.

Psycho Da Turtle 02-04-2003 06:26 PM

I have a video with both the show and the making of on it. I admit, its awful, but I loved it as a kid and now its like nastolgia, ya know? O, and yes I must say, those dance moves on the pizza man? Da,m sexually explicit, i cant believe they let us watch that. And how do you make pants that tight that still stretch? And did anyone notice that during the song that was after that, one or so after it, suddenly there were some how guys dressed in army pants, hats and black tank tops? I dont exactly know how or why this happened! I actually am quite horrified by the thought that such men as these could appear out of thin air! Save me!

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 02-04-2003 07:11 PM

Yeah,Shredder DID "steal" April voice! I forgot that part. I'll admit,it IS pretty cheesy, but it did the trick back then for me. :)

Mr. Snackpants 02-04-2003 07:25 PM

Speaking of the "Coming Out of Our Shells Tour", a couple days ago at school it was on the Daily Broadcast. At my school theres a class were you make the broadcast w/ school news and they always have special segments, and they put clips of it on 2 days in a row. It was very corny but a lot of people remember it and knew about the show coming out.

Tokka-B 02-04-2003 07:30 PM

I have the video and would be willing to sell for $75-100 :)

Greed 02-04-2003 07:38 PM

I didn't see it because I was like 3 but I do have the video and the album

as in, you give us $75-100 to take it off your hands? sorry, you are going to have to give more money that ;-)

Cherubae 02-04-2003 11:01 PM

Ya but there's nothing like watching Shredder do the Running Man and singing about how he hates music ;)

Go shredda go shredda go shredda woot woot!
