January 16, 2003 - Today at its Gamers' Day, Konami of America revealed that an all-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is on its way to GameCube, PlayStation 2, and PC. Confirmed by the producer 4Kids Entertainment in September of 2002, Konami has been tight-lipped about its TMNT acquired license until today. Additionally, a pocket version for Game Boy Advance is planned for simultaneous release in October 2003. Looks like turtle shells and leftover pizza is back in for Halloween kids.

The new offering will be based on the revival of the franchise, which the Fox network is bringing back to Saturday morning this February. The show is still based on the famous green dudes Leanardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, as they seek constant retribution upon Shredder. The game is described as 3D "fighting/action," where players will draw upon their ninja skills to kick, punch, and dodge their way through packs of Foot Ninjas. With a Story Mode and a Vs. Mode there is room for both single and multiplayer action. Whether there is cooperative play for Story Mode is not yet confirmed, but it seems likely.

So now that we have our Turtles in a Half-Shell back, can we expect our Battletoads fix as well? Click on our media page for preliminary art, and expect us to return with more details soon.

 You obviously don't know anything about either one of them. What's wrong with PS2 and GC?

Raphael-sama 02-01-2003 05:48 PM

<--Proud owner of just about every North American Nintendo console aside from the Virtual Boy (which I hunt for almost obsessively). So there.

BigThew 02-01-2003 05:49 PM

please no console wars....just posting about the new game

Donatello02 02-01-2003 05:57 PM

Oh yeah, Xbox is so much better, what with it's amazing ability to freeze your game every ten minutes, and that nift lil control that makes you have to reach just to hit the top button.

Cherubae 02-01-2003 07:02 PM

Even if you don't own a Ps2, Gc, or GBa, the game is still coming out for PC ;)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. I used to have a Virtual Boy when it came out... I returned it a week later. Haha, its cool that you're searching for it, but its utter trash in my opinion. :D

I currently own all Nintendo systems besides the Virtual Boy. Haha, and I'm glad its that way!

They're modern consoles, that's what...

Um... yeah...

Anyways, I'll probably get it for the PS2. *dances*

Greed 02-01-2003 09:16 PM

Stupid up to date gaming technology *goes play Mario RPG*

Karpo_007 02-02-2003 07:42 AM

It is totally pointless to argue wich console is the best. The truth is, it doesn't matter, all that matters is the games that is released to them. For TMNT fans, the choice right now is either PS2 or GC. Luckily it is coming to PC too, and a Powerfull PC has always better graphics than any console. OF course PC has it's weaknesess.

And for the GBA game, I really hope they won't make it like a semi 3d game like MOTU for example. For GBA I would like to have a pure 2D game that plays like the Arcade game.

Modern gaming isn't bad. It's GOOD. Same goes for the "old skool" gaming..Ah...Barbies Vacation Adventure, I can't live without you..TMNT I MEAN! Yeah, TMNT..

Greed 02-02-2003 09:29 AM

I guess new technology isn't that bad *puts down Mario RPG and plays Tony Hawk*

Now you're learning.. But, choose a different game :)

Greed 02-02-2003 12:20 PM

Forget you I like Tony Hawk but what the hell *puts in Metal Gear Solid*

The Master Foot Soldier 02-02-2003 01:04 PM

If TMNT is being released for the PC, that means it will probably be released for X-box too. I have a GBA and GCN, so hopefully the two of those games are interlinkable for special features, just like metroid.

Eye of Sarnath 02-02-2003 04:18 PM

As far as we know, it isn't being released for the X-Box. Though if the game sells well, it will be ported sooner or later.

Now there's a game! It's being released for PC sometime this year... I can't wait, cos I don't have any consoles...

The Master Foot Soldier 02-02-2003 04:28 PM

Owning and maintaining a modern console is something that empties your pocket quite fast. But if you have nothing better to spend your money on, you might as well have fun with your money.

If they were going to release it to the X-box, they probably would have said it. Usually it is the PC version that is not first mentioned but gets released after awhile.

Greed 02-02-2003 06:25 PM

They mite release it on X-Box eventually

Psycrow 02-02-2003 07:29 PM

Hm... if the game does well, expect an XBox version as well. It wouldn't make sense to miss the market I think...

Karpo_007 02-02-2003 07:45 PM

Yes but it doesn't make sense they anounced PC but not X-box port either.

R-iZZy 02-04-2003 08:11 AM

well, quite frankly... X-Box is annoying is heck! come one man... the buttons are like looking at buttons on a rocket ship! PS2 i wouldn't mind it being on. I mean, when Ninja: Shadow of Darkness came out on PSone, that game ruled majorly! Just think of how The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would end up on PS2... here's my formula...

Ninja: Shadow of Darkness + PSone = awesome game!!!
Ninja Turtles + PS2 = Need I say more?

Point is, results will be so great when it comes out!

Karpo_007 02-04-2003 08:24 AM

As I said, the machine doesn't really matter, it's the games that does. But It is strange that X-box port is not in the works...

R-iZZy 02-05-2003 08:10 AM

Eh... oh well! Less money for Bill Gates.

Raphael-sama 02-05-2003 02:40 PM

Perhaps Microsoft doesn't want the game on the Xbox?

BigThew 02-05-2003 02:46 PM

all console wars aside...the game seems pretty weired

on an update from planet racers...Laird said that the game was like a 3d cartoon..similar probably to how the simpsons road rage was done

i for one don't like that and was expecting a more Metal Gear Solid feel to the game

Karpo_007 02-05-2003 03:29 PM

It is a cartoon based game, so it is probably a cell shaded beat em up. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder why there is no info on the GBA game... If they are going to use the semi 3d instead of real 2d graphics in it, I will be very disapointed.

The Master Foot Soldier 02-05-2003 05:08 PM

Mario Kart style for an adventure/Fighting game is a really bad idea. I'm almost certain that the GBA title of TMNT will be a sidescroller. [/code]

Karpo_007 02-05-2003 05:11 PM

I ment a style like in the MOTU game or the new superman game.

GordonUniverse 02-07-2003 12:32 AM

I'm VERY excited about the new game and will most likely buy it for my Gamecube in October. Yesterday, I played the original TMNT for my NES and got real pumped about it. Wish I had TMNT2: The Arcade Game, though.

Speaking of which, I read Roger Ebert's review of the first TMNT movie the other day in his archives on his site, and the nimrod says that the movie is based on the original NES video game, and THAT was their first incarnation. Doesn't even mention the comic book or the ridiculously popular Television Show! Didn't he even read his press packet?

Karpo_007 02-07-2003 02:57 AM

LOL  The ignorance...

heretic888 02-07-2003 09:19 AM

hmmmm

Well, when another company was tryin' to make a new TMNT 3D game a while back for the PS1 it was described as Fighting Force meets Banjo Kazooey. Of course, this game was supposed to include Venus as well, and it was obviously scrapped.

I wonder if that's what the new tmnt game will be like.... personally, id like to see a cross between one of the new superhero/spiderman/superman games meets tenchu/metal gear solid/ninja style.
