Movie DVDs

Anyone know if they are gonna release the first three TMNT movies with extra content? I've heard about deleted scenes and commentary on various websites and wondered about it.

ToTheNines 08-02-2007 09:21 PM

No, there are no plans to do anything as of yet, but it would be great to have. Although I doubt there was anything constructive/interesting going on "behind the scenes" of TMNT III.

You didn't hear about Splinter and April's torrid love-affair on the set of 3? After all, they're both mammals. ^_^

My guess would be if they do this it would either have happened in light of the TMNT release or they will when they hit HD.

sdp 08-03-2007 12:40 AM

I really expected them to release the movies again for TMNT but they didn't.

If TMNT gets a sequel there is a second chance of them wanting to cash in by re-releasing them.

Drtooth 08-03-2007 07:43 AM

Me too, especially since all those sh^^ film sequals warrent second DVD relesases to get a free ticket to the movie, like Big Mama's House.

I was really hoping they'd go through with it, cuz I don't want to get the bare bones cheap game on it Special features.

But then again, this was made before film directors purposely left the cameras on to show all the random crap they could fit on a DVD.

I already signed a petition for a release of a special edition for the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie a while back. I hope it does something jeez.

AquaParade 08-03-2007 01:30 PM

Maybe I'm nuts, but I could habe sworn we had a near confirmation of a special edition dvd in the works for the first movie. Am I the only one who remembers this?

Euan Buchan 08-03-2007 06:12 PM

Deleted scenes , interviews , movie memorabilia (stuff , lobbys & posters)....I'm soooo there :P

Godzilla 08-03-2007 07:19 PM

That alternate ending for the 1990 flick would be nice to see.

As Borat would say, "Very nice" indeed. :)

Drtooth 08-03-2007 07:43 PM

In EUROPE (that's what the triangled PG rating denotes it from, right?)

Jeeez! If we can have a special edition of some movie called "Monster Squad" that no one has ever heard of or wants, why in shell can't we have a movie that's finally had a sequal and is still culturaly relevant.

We DID get near confirmation. Someone please look for the thread.

Fiendishglow 08-04-2007 12:07 AM

^ Many people have heard of Monster Squad. >.>

Roseangelo 08-04-2007 12:40 AM

The European DVDs are not special editions.

And I can confirm that. I have those movies. movie 2 and 3 are released together and seperately here in Holland years ago the first movie is UK and came out in 2005 on DVD. The Netherlands still doesn't have the first movie on DVD.. how weird huh.

But indeed these are not special editions. The only extra's are trailers :ohwell:

jenna 08-04-2007 06:04 AM

Yeah, but these don't have any special features on them - which I think is what everyone wants. These are just the the films - the most you get in the form of special features are the theatrical trailers.

xChri5x 08-04-2007 12:12 PM

The video game nerd review of tmnt 3 would make a great special feature

Buslady 08-04-2007 12:31 PM

Yeah why is it they make SE's of really crappy movies but not something with a HUGE following as TMNT has!?!? There's cash to be made! One of the concerns was what to charge for it, I told the dude at Golden Harvest (I believe they deal with the DVD releases) I would pay $25 for a nicely done SE TMNT 1.

I agree but there seems to be a general trend with the tmnt at the moment that profit is bad, and no money should be invested on the offchance that it takes off and there is another turtlemania extraveganza.

Seriously though - as you say - millions of people would fork out good money for special edition (at least of film 1) and other good quality dvds (like the new film with more special features / director's cut etc) but it's like they're scared of it being successful! They just seem to want turtles stuff to fail.

I don't know about anywhere else in the world, but for a long time here in England film 1 was impossible to get hold of - only old VHS tapes. Why? legality on Mike's fight scenes (we all know why so I'm not going to say it). i thought when the dvd was released in its original format, not the edited British version, that it would be packed full of wonderful stuff with a documentary about why it was effectively banned in the UK and all that hype. But no - not a whisper. It just crept onto the shelves one day. Some executives seriously need to realise just how much money the franchise could potentially make given the right input and product.

Yep, I mean TMNT has made over 6 billion dollars in its time. I know the golden days are long gone, but that still says something.

Never considered this before, but did he have a grappling hook in the movie or was he just a bare-knuckle fighter? O_o Or, how did Splinter throw Shredder off the roof? Did he just grab the spear?

General Traag 08-04-2007 07:48 PM

I can only speak for germany, but i'd guess it was the same in uk;
Actually they didn't replace or remove anything here (full 'aw a fellow chucker'-scene for example), which made their decision to remove the nunchuks from the ot series even more hilarious.

I mean...in a real life movie it's ok to use those 'bad' weapons...but in a cartoon it's not? *scratches head*
