Neca TMNT Figures Now W/ Foot Soldier Prototype & Mouser Information

AFTER MUCH TONGUE BITING MURPH HAS FINALLY SHOWN THE NECA FOOT SOLDIER!!!!!

IMPORTANT SAN DIEGO COMICON MOUSER INFORMATION!

Quote:

The 3 pack version is jointed at the legs and has a ball jointed
neck. We did not use the jointed jaw for the 3 pack due to costs and
wanting to put 3 Mousers in one pack.

We have a battle damaged Mouser and a Mouser with articulated jaw
ready for the future release to general retail.

The SDCC version is unique to SDCC

INFORMATION ABOUT THE NECA TMNT FIGURES THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW!

Quote:

Murph says:The NECA license is incredibly broad. It includes all iterations of
all characters from all universes.
The schedule, though, is pretty modest at the moment. Next up are
those black and white variants, then a Foot Soldier. Beyond that, we
haven't seen a thing nor heard a peep.
The contract goes for 3 years I think, pretty standard.
The interesting thing in that we've just granted them an expansion of
the contract so that it includes lots of weird little items,
everything from stickers to posters to lamps. However, they have yet
to submit designs for any of 'em.

Well I hope this helps everyone even those doubting thomases who don't think the line will last long.
Also tells us what Neca can do.

Revan 09-13-2007 04:21 PM

Lovin it. I'm already excited for these. I have a sickness where whenever I see a new fig that I like, I automatically buy it. It's a pain really. Money always seems to be short.

OA 09-13-2007 04:50 PM

Man, gotta love Murphy...i really hope this turns out great...

Janus Prospero 09-13-2007 05:14 PM

I'd prefer that they look like they did in the Return to New York arc.

But I'd still be happy with Volume 1, Issue 1

Roseangelo 09-13-2007 05:16 PM

I'd rather they looked like the did at the end of the original E&L run (Leo+10-11). Well, at first at least. THEN they can do some in the RTNY style. 8)

Props to Mirage for rejecting NECA's first design - it's horrible!

Props to Mirage for rejecting NECA's first design - it's horrible!

Well, aren't both of those styles fairly similar to begin with?

Leo+10-11 is like the pinacle of Eastman and Laird's style joined together.
RTNY is Lawson imitating that style.
That's how I've always seen it anyway.

There are deffinite slight differences. But body proportion wise, they're fairly similar. And I prefer that compared to the gremlin style turtles in issue 1. :D

VaughnMichael 09-13-2007 05:31 PM

I really hope correct size scale is something that goes into these figures.

Oh, it's definitely similar. I personally prefer the pure E&L look of Leo+10-11, which as you note is the pinnacle of their combined styles. But I think RTNY is different enough so that you can get different figures out of it.

The interesting thing with RTNY is that each of the three books had a different, single inker. Because of that each book ends up with a slight, though distinct, look of its own.

Well, I'm not convinced that I'd be able to pick up on the difference. So I'd be blissfully happy with either one of those. They can make them Leo+10-11 style and you can tell me that it's based off of RTNY and we can both be happy. :-D

How...do you mean?

Scale compared to their weapons?
Scale compared to the human characters if they ever release them?
Scale comapring their individual body parts to each other?!?!

Jester 09-13-2007 05:40 PM

That design isn't so bad. Sure they aren't Mirage vol 1, but I kinda like it. This is however coming from a OT and Old Playmates fanboy.

Correct height.

Is it determined that they're going to make them in a certain ratio?

Otherwise if they just come out with the turtles in the first wave, any height they make them will be "to scale" becasue there won't be anything to compare them to.

However, if they later come out with Shredder, and he's the same height as the guys, then there'll be a problem.

So I'm assuming you're hoping that NECA plans ahead and makes sure all the figures are scaled well as they come out? You're confusing me with your fancy figure talk.

Yes and they would be morons only to make the 4 turtles.
And actully they do have things Mirage could supply them with as far as the height of each character is concerned.

BigApple3AM 09-13-2007 06:28 PM

A few things about that drawing popped out at me. The neck seems to thin and doesn't seem to be properly centered to the body. The head seems a bit small compared to the body too. The toe on the far right seems odd compared to the other 3.

The style seems pretty early Mirage to me though.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...hnny/NECA1.jpg

At the same time it reminds me a lot of how the turtles were drawn on the old figure packaging, especially the little comic strip on the back that explained their origin.

I kind of liked what the statues did. They weren't a perfect representation of the first page. Close enough while making them a bit leaner or something. Here's what I'm talking about:

You read the part that said it was rejected, right? 8)

Yep. Just pointing out what I saw wrong with it. With those changes it wouldn't be bad.

Drtooth 09-14-2007 12:39 PM

I will say the drawing isn't bad, but I agree it looks too much like a combination of the current show and the old toy line.

Now if they make them look exactly like the TMNT did in that issue, I'd be psyched! I also agree they need to make more than just the 4 turtles. This would clearly outsell Playmates with collectors, and give them a message that better TMNT products are going to give them better profits.

discordiatookie 09-14-2007 01:35 PM

Guys, I am so hyped about all this I can't believe it!!!

And on ninjaturtles.com, there is this update, by the by:

Quote:

NECA, National Entertainment Collectible Association, has signed a license to produce and distribute collector's market TMNT action figures, statues, busts, weapon prop replicas and bobbleheads based on the TMNT comic books from Mirage Studios. These items will be avaialble to small independent retailers, independent toy stores, comic and hobby shops, and specialty chains. The design and development process has just gotten started, so prduct won't be available for awhile. We'll post news from the folks at NECA as soon as possible!
Statues and busts!!!!!! 8)

Hellboy 09-14-2007 02:03 PM

Wow, it looks like we'll be getting a lot of stuff from NECA. Can't wait to see more pics. I hope they allow Murphy to keep posting inside stuff. I'm really looking forward to the TMNT bobbleheads. :D

ferret 09-14-2007 02:49 PM

This is great news.

I agree-they should make the turtles heads bigger, the way they were in the first issues.

You know, you'd think after all this time there would actually be bobbleheads already out there...i think it'd be cool as well...

Brodie 09-14-2007 10:23 PM

Glad it was rejected, but its better than anything that's come out in 10 years.

mattmanw54301 09-14-2007 11:44 PM

NECA will get it right. They just need a couple tries to get warmed up. And the license holders wont let them put out sub par product. the powers that be know that this is most likely the only chance they will get to put out quality specialty market figures, so they're not going to settle for anything less than what the fans want.

Spitfire 09-15-2007 12:35 AM

Good news so far. I better get a comic accurate Rat King in this fun somewhere cause if I do I'll be creaming my pants.

They made the Gremlins Figures the right size if ya have um' measure Stripe & Gizmo.

ferret 09-16-2007 06:26 PM

Has anyone noticed that mirage comic pic ectocooler put up (the bottom one)? Look how huge raphs foot/ankle is! That would be totally awsome to have as an action figure...

odupianist 09-17-2007 09:49 AM

Hell, I like the statues that Mirage had from Vol 1 #1. I think the RtNY style would be good as well, or even maybe CaW, or am I goign to get lynched for saying that?

turkishproverb 09-17-2007 12:01 PM

any o them would be cool in their own way.

I just want a *%@& movie shredder...

Roseangelo 09-19-2007 05:22 PM

I'm surprised no one posted this yet.

Here's Murphy's update from today:

Quote:

As yet I'm unable to tell you too much about NECA's plans for the TMNT but here's the little I'm allowed to share:

1. The first wave of 6 figures will be out in Spring 08; the second 6 in Fall 08.

2. Current/initial plans/waves only include figures based on characters from the early Mirage comics.

3. The first wave will consist of the 4 Turtles, a Foot Soldier and, and... sorry, can't tell you. ;)

Well, there's only one spot not spoken for, so it can't be both. My guess is Shredder in series 1 and Splinter in series 2.

I'm gonna go with April in the first. They need some big guns for the second series.

VaughnMichael 09-19-2007 07:19 PM

I haven't been around all day so thanks for keeping it in the same thread Rose!
I was at the hospital and will be going back again tommrow for tests so wish me luck that I figure out what the hell is wrong with my stomach!
This is awsome new btw I do hope it's Splinter or Shredder.
I have started to wonder though what April O' Neil will look like.

Jester 09-19-2007 09:56 PM

My question is who is going to buy the 4 turtles and then customize them with color coded bandanas?

CyberCubed 09-19-2007 10:56 PM

I wonder if Playmates will start to feel bitter if the NECA line starts selling really well. I know people would like to see Playmates start getting themselves in gear, but since Playmates basically are 1/3 of the current cartoon, I'd hope they don't call it quits. I still hope the show goes on for a few more seasons yet at least.

hey thanks so much! :) I got a movie leo from the box set with the genral today I'll sell him to ya same price as mike his eyes are painted on perfectly unlike most of them with wonky eyes. Let me know if you're interested.:)

CudleyCowlick 09-20-2007 04:20 PM

I'm just so glad that a company like NECA is taking a crack at the Turtles. Everything they do is just so sweet, look at their Pirates of the Carribean figures.

No matter what, I'm sure that these figures will be unlike anything Playmates has ever been able to deliver. I'll keep buying Playmates because TMNT toys are like crack to me but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna grumble about the quality. If Playmates wants to step up sales, they need to start making better toys. Period.

I plan on buying these things by the case. How could I not?
