Tales of the TMNT #38 and Bad Moon Rising #3

Anyone have any idea when these will be out? Lately my comic store has been getting stuff in later than other places in other parts of the country where the rest of you live.

discordiatookie 09-21-2007 01:25 PM

This was an update on the official site on tuesday september 11th:

Quote:

Tales of the TMNT The Collected Books Volume 4, Tales of the TMNT #38 and Raphael Bad Moon Rising #3 didn't make it to the printers until today - so they're all running wicked late. Sorry, folks!
If its not late, its not Mirage!

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 09-26-2007 08:47 AM

They come out today, I think.

Have to wait-and-see. But doesn't look like it, as I didn't see them on Diamond's weekly listing.

Raph's Girl 09-28-2007 06:50 PM

Just a heads up. Midtowncomics.com is listing Bad Moon Rising 03 and Tales 38 as coming out Wednesday, Oct 3rd.

Also Tales of the TMNT Vol 2 book 4 will be out Oct 3rd. And as usual you can get it at a good price at paneltopanel.net. It comes with a Raphael insert that's signed by Peter Laird, Dan Berger, and some others (I got the email about it the other day but I don't remember the names of all the signers).

R-iZZy 09-30-2007 01:53 PM

Yeah, plus there's previews on the official site. So it's about that time for the new issues to come.

***First of Two Latin Kings*** 10-03-2007 02:02 PM

So did they come out today or not? :dead:

Yes, I got both of them (as well as Tales of the TMNT Collected Book Vol. 4).

DrSpengler 10-03-2007 03:46 PM

Bad Moon #3 and the 4th Tales TPB came out in my area today, but no Tales #38. Guess they'll get that one next week.

Roseangelo 10-03-2007 07:17 PM

Got both Bad Moon #3 and Tales #38.

OMG Tales #38 is sooooo incredibly awesome! Fantastic art, fantastic story, and ... back-up story from Mr. Dan Berger himself!!!! All sorts of joy in this. It kinda makes me bouncy, and it's been a loooong time since a comic has done that for me.

Haven't read Bad Moon #3 yet... I'm sure it's the same as the others - Not horrible, but far from great.

So um do I have anything to worry about with #38 Rose?

Leatherheads origin story hasn't been tainted? Nor has the time line?

But what about those stupid-lookin' aliens?

And what's the backup story?

Who are you? And what have you done with the real Rose!?

Scandia 10-05-2007 01:30 PM

The comic book store near me did not have it and said it would arrive next week. They had Bad Moon Rising 2 and 3, though.

Raph's Girl 10-07-2007 04:10 PM

Haven't read Bad Moon Rising 03 yet but I DID read Tales 38 and I loved it.

There was a bit of confusion tho since at the start it was Vol 4 Don who said "Let Me Tell you a story.." (looks like he was beating Shadow in Chess *lol*) and the rest was Future Don reminiscing about his youth and Splinter....and their first encounter with Leatherhead. Those aliens looked like Chameleon Boy off of Legion of Superheroes.

Leatherhead looked like an adult even tho the turtles were like 8. I found that a bit odd. But other then that it was a good story. I also loved the backup story. Oh that Raph...always causing trouble.

SonOfZog 10-07-2007 08:41 PM

****SPOILER*****
Sorry, but how do you make the spoiler window?

Yes, Tales was great, (though I also did not like the new alien design), but does this mean the guys should recognize LH when they later meet him?

And what I like about Bad Moon is every page is wierder than the last...

Tinuvielsdreams 10-08-2007 08:54 PM

I got mine last week and really enjoyed the story. I liked that they showed it as a story being told by the older Donny. I liked the style and the Leatherhead cameo, the aliens threw me a bit.
Raph's girl you had me thinking when you mentioned If the turtles were around 8 do we really know what age Leather head is in comparison? I never gave that much thought really. What it did remind me of was the eppy of 2K3 where they are younger and ran into the giant croc.
Bad moon Rising is out there but I am a bit curious to see where it's going.
My sister was laughing at the cover when she saw all the goth chicks pawing on Raph

Punix 10-10-2007 09:59 AM

just read tales 38.
Doctor X makes a return ,maybe this story is set in the Image world of the TMNT  ? I never heard of Doctor X in the Mirage world.

Just because he's never shown up before doesn't mean they've never met him.

Spitfire 10-10-2007 10:53 PM

I can't wait to see what happens next. Maybe they will meet up with Bettlejuice...

VaughnMichael 10-11-2007 01:22 AM

oh lord don't even start me on these issues.
I've got so much to say most of it not positive at all.:ohwell:
Rose I don't know what issue you looked at but the issue 38 i have is one of the worst issues of turtles I've ever read the story doesn't even make any sense time line wise like I knew it wouldn't and Dr. X? Ok so are we going to pull things from the image comics now? And now we've got these random aliens who are after the utroms and are their most hated enimies yet didn't we just get told those egg looking blob things in another issue where their worse enemy.
The only thing good about tales number 38 is Dario Brizuelas art work I'm highly dissapointed by this issue but maybe it has allot to do with the fact that I loath the baby turtles and this is the first time we see them in mirage pretty much, Leatherhead seems way to grown up to me compaired to the turtles whom I always thought was mutated around the same time as them, Splinter came off as way older than he should have been to me as well, the turtles some how don't remember crossing leatherheads path as kids?, Also this issue just like the casey jones one felt like a waste of time to me it didn't progress the charcters or story at all.

Oddly enough as much as I can't stand jim lawsons art work which keeps getting worse and worse I enjoyed what was going on in Bad Moon allot more than the baby fest going on in tales 38.

Can't win em' all I guess on one end we have good art and a crap story and on the other crap art and an interesting story.

OH!! & BTW Ross Campbell you need to do an entire issue love your cover art and front piece in tales 38.

Dario would be my choice for a continuing TMNT series. All of his issues become favorites of mine.

Well, they barely got a look at him, really. And they didn't even know what they were seeing. I thought I was going to mind the alien thing (because I am soooo tired of all the aliens) but I really didn't because it was setup why they wouldn't be showing up on Earth again anytime soon.

That I will disagree with. There are a lot of Tales issues that don't progress the characters or story. They are just supposed to be Tales... you want progression, that's what a continuing story is for. What made the Casey story less than great was that we were told a story and then told it was all a lie. That's a key difference to me.

Quote:

Most definitely.

I think the reason #38 is weird with its two intros is because Ross drew that for them awhile ago and it was never used... musta just wanted an excuse to publish it. It's pretty, so no complaints from me!

VaughnMichael 10-11-2007 03:09 AM

I mean it's not the worst thing ever but seriously the ages of everyone in the issue bother the hell out of me Leatherhead would look like he's what maybe in his late 20's early 30's before he got bulked up from started all the transmat stuff, the turtles would be anywhere from 5-8 years old I'm guessing, splinter looks pretty old to me I'd place him in his 50's by his look in this maybe even older.
I swear I remember Leatherhead being mutated around the same time as the turtles in Mirage and I think this is what's driving me crazy about this issue.

I mean I know it could be allot worse but the last time I went wow at tales was Tristans issue everything about that was 100% perfect.

And yeah the continuing story from volume 4 was pretty much the only reason I went after that book because I did enjoy the stories even if I didn't enjoy the art.

I also agree that Dario would be my choice for a monthly published color tmnt comic based around the current tv show.

Oh Also Those aliens didn't look to dead to me considering the fact that as Dr. X & Leatherhead walk away they look as if they're getting up I was excited and thought they where gonna attack on the next page but I was met with splinter nagging baby turtles.

Psst.. that was only two issues ago. :D

I don't think it was implied that they were dead. They had to go back to their ship to tell their buddies that Earth (& the Utroms) were well-protected. Thus they stay away.

There was blood on the floor and leatherhead screamed I killed them, I killed them all.
If that's not implied I don't know what is then lol

True, but perceptions aren't necessarily reality. *shrug*

I also don't think Dr. X would have just walked away knowing they are the utroms enemy..unles she thought they where dead right? *shruggs also*

True. Oh well.

Here's how I mostly looked at the comic: The art is pretty and everyone is in-character. And I find it a fun and enjoyable story.

I honestly gave up on the whole timeline thing ages ago. No TMNT universe, especially the Mirage universe, is ever going to be coherent. I never saw any appeal (or canon) in the multiple Leos or Rick Remender issues, among others. So if an issue doesn't fit with my personal perception of canon, I just kinda let it exist separately.

Scandia 10-11-2007 05:57 AM

Swung by the comic book store last evening.

It has been delayed another week. And that goes for all the bookstores from that company in this county.

I do not know where else to get it. I am unaware of any other comic book stores in town carrying TMNT.

Scandia 10-16-2007 11:32 AM

I finally got my comic book! It arrived today- but he had not even been able to call me about it.

Triptyche was SO GOOD!!! And so was "Aw Rats!". Raph is really really mischievous in both stories.

One small criticism- I think this is a tale that would have been suited to have Leonardo as the teller. And not just because he is my favorite.

***First of Two Latin Kings*** 10-16-2007 04:01 PM

Well, my comic book store still hasn't gotten Tales #38. He did order seven extra copies of Raphael: Bad Moon Rising #3 that I am stuck with now, though.

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 10-18-2007 08:27 AM

WHAT!!?

I have not read #38--Dr. X is in it!? :o

Can someone PLEASE tell me what happens, and what this is all about!? I need spoilers!!

Is Laird finally acknowledging the Image comics?

Coola Yagami 10-18-2007 08:38 PM

Wasn't Dr. X in the second Leatherhead story? The one about him trying to rebuild the Transmat? They made the 'What a Croc' episode based on that and replaced Mr. X with Baxter. If so, it's still Mirage comics stuff, not Image.
