Most Hard To Come Buy Figures in Recent TMNT Lines

This may have been discussed before (again, I'm new), but broken down into the seperate lines: 2K3, FF, and TMNT movie - What are the hardest to come by figures of each of the sets (and most valuable)?

I've been collecting the basic figures since the 2K3 line and it seems that the hardest ones for me personally to get were: 1. Quarry, 2. Jammerhead, and 3. Gen.

Most of time I guess I was just lucky enough to make it to the store at the right time, after they had recently put them out or something, but I've had decent luck initially finding the rest. Now, seeing them ever again on shelves AFTER the fact, that's another story. I was just curious as to which ones were the most difficult to hunt down now days, after some of them have began to "age", so to speak.

Thanks!

I have Quarry and Jammerhead. I think Gen and Usagi are hard to find I've never seen either on the self once.

Yeah, for some reason Quarry and Jammerhead are the only two I've had to track down online. Luckily I found the rest in stores.

Saying what I've been saying, basically any figure that isn't a turtle varient. All the others got shortpacked.

That's not true at all.

JetsAndHeels 10-04-2007 02:03 PM

I was lucky enough to find Quarry in the clearance section at WM!!

How about that?? :)

Mutated Leo 10-04-2007 02:43 PM

Quarry, Utroms, Bishop, Gen and Purple Dragons. Hard for me to find. But I think I might have put together a decent trade to finish off my 2K3 Needs!

:D:D:D:D

Film at eleven!

Whaaaa? They actually made the Purple Dragon figure? I thought that one kept getting pushed back. And the Gunjin figure from the FF line?

Yea, the Purple is so hard to find because it was never released...:)

I think Usagi, Gen, Bishop, Baxter Robot for a while, Utrom, and most recently Shredded & Sloth but those are getting more common...

Also, I think the Ninja Action Foot Soldier, Shredder, & Splinter were a bit tricky to find as well

odupianist 10-05-2007 08:59 AM

I saw a Gen in a Walgreens one night, now I wish I had gotten him. I have an Utrom, I found him easily. I saw a Jammerhead early on in FF period. Never saw an Usagi, Baxter Robot, and I think that's about it. I have a Bishop too.

Oops I had no idea. LOL.. No wonder its impossible to find!! LOL!!

Bigfoot 10-05-2007 06:40 PM

Well I was at Walgreens about 2 weeks ago, and I ALWAYS check the toy department of any store I go into for new TMNT stuff. I walk up to the Turtle area and the very first character on the hook was a Gen, but the cardboard hook thing was broken, so I kept digging through the maybe 10 toys they had, and I found a second Gen. I know when I was looking for this character awhile ago, I never saw it at the major stores (Walmart, Target, Kmart). Then all of a sudden, one to open, one to keep in the box. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Besides the 2 Gens, they had several Virals, and alot of early turtle variants (space hoppin, underwater, etc.).

The hardest character for me to find was Quarry. I got it on ebay after I heard it was going to be so rare for $15. A week later, I got one at Walmart for $5.99. Oh well...

One last thing, TMNT movie minis are found at Family Dollar for $1. I bought a brand new unopened display case, and it is still shrink wrapped with the shipping label on it. The lady looked at me weird, but she doesn't know what it's like to find something like that. I gave her my phone number and told her to call me when they get more. I saw these on ebay last year as "Christmas ornaments" because someone screwed a little eyelet into the minis head.

Regular movie action figures are also $5.99 all the time, and Family Dollar gets alot at a time, but since not many people go there, they have the same batch of toys for a long time. I do not know how big the chain of stores is, or if there is one near you. It is NOT a dollar store, but it is cheaper than other places.

Hmmm, I've havent been for a while but they do get pretty goo deals there...I didn't know they had the movie figs already...im gonna have to check my local stores soon

JetsAndHeels 10-06-2007 10:55 AM

Yeah, Family Dollar is a good place to check. I went last week to the one here in town and scored the entire set of the mini figs. That was a big deal to me because Dollar General here did not get any in.
They also had the regular movie figs, all at $5.99 each. I had them all (it was the 4 turtles and casey and some of the motorcycle sets for $12.99) but it was still cool to see the toys there. I am going to check other locations to see what I can find.

I don't care how many people say it's not true or whatever, but I saw them, and that's enough for me to believe a few must have leaked out before they decided to full on produce them. I passed them up because they were $6.99 figuring Wal-Mart would just have them for $4.88, I haven't seen any since.

I was thinking of putting a wanted ad in my local paper to see if the person who bought them may want to get rid of them, or at least let me take a picture of them to prove they exist. I just hope a little kid didn't get them and bust them all up & what not. Someday, there will be pictures showing up here, if I seen them, surely more than 2 had to go out to at least a few more stores.

HalfcourtGame 10-07-2007 06:56 PM

Again I say what you saw was a Hun figure...who is a Purple Dragon yes, but not what is being referred to in this thread. Check out the official website and you will see. Things like that don't "leak out", you should probably care what EVERYONE else is saying, if for only that reason :tgrumble:

Slash 10-07-2007 07:58 PM

Alright, I worked for Target for four horrible years and I opened up EVERY box of 2k3 figures prior to the movie coming in. I never saw the Purple Dragon.

I opened up a box roughly every other week during the slow times but every Christmas time, I opened up at least two.

I also got the pleasure of meeting Playmates representatives and they said it never was made.

You're thinking of Hun. I know you're thinking of Hun. It's impossible that you saw one a couple years because that was the Paleo Patrol and Mystic Turtles era.

Purple Dragon was supposed to be out last year alongside with Quarry, Nobody, Baxter 2.0, Bishop, and the Rat King.

I used to be like the kid from ShortPacked.com and do toy hunts daily because of work or during breaks between classes at my community college. I was always near a TRU, a KayBee, Walmart, and Targets. It was also kind of work related to do that...

My final verdict, if it matters to anyone...

Playmates never released a Purple Dragon. Never released the Inuwashi Gunjin. Never released Starlee, Biggles, Tripletheat, and FF Bishop.

Sorry kid, but no cigar on the Purple Dragon.

Spitfire 10-07-2007 08:38 PM

Sad but true, I have Bishop, Baxter 2, Quarry, Rat King and Karai. I think their all reasonably rare. I've seen Baxter 2 and Rat King twice, but the others I've only ever seen once and Quarry isn't on Ebay that much anymore.

Oh man...

Yea, I think I'm gonna side with the majority here and say that you did not see an actual Purple Dragon (I know everyone says you saw a Hun but the way I see it, how COULD you mistake a figure for Hun. I mean he's HUGE and not easily mistaken for another figure, esp the actual Purple Dragon figure). I really wish they did but unfortunately for whatever reason, it didn't happen.

Definitely Gen and Quarry...If Quarry would have just came out the same time as Stonebiter and Razorfist i would have been all over it, i never really saw usagi in stores either but luckily i have 2 now due to lucky wins on ebay..

Spitfire 10-08-2007 11:05 PM

Anyone want Usagi? Cheap, not bad but it's almost over

I saw a Jammerhead at Toys R Us the other night, and on the back of the card, it had a picture of the main Inuwashi Gunjin. Looked pretty good. No, I'm not saying I saw the toy or it has been released, just saying a picture of it was on the back of the Jammerhead card.

Must have just been im my area. I found quite a bit of nonvarients at the beginning of the line, but after a while (especially the assortments that included Traximus, The Utrom and Fugitoid) there were only varients on the pegs and the occasional odd character from the Battle Nexus. After that, all I saw were the refreshment packs of Casey, Splinter and others.

The actual hardest ones to find for me were Hamato Yoshi, utrom, Traximus, Baxter 2, Feudal Shredder, Bishop and Karai.

Wes 10-10-2007 06:30 PM

Utrom and Quarry were the ones I had trouble finding. Well, I did see a few Utroms, but the paint apps were so horrible I couldn't bring myself to buy one.

Jammerhead and Rat King are not rare around here at all -- Rat King is pretty much the only figure from the 2k3 line that I still see on a regular basis, and Jammerhead (along with the Dark Turtles) is like perma-pegged at the local TRUs.

I glimpse Shredder on occasion -- and I do want him -- but the paint apps on the figures I see generally keep me from buying it. I suppose I'll have to suck it up and get one at some point, though!

odupianist 10-11-2007 08:40 AM

I never saw a HY, Feudal Shred, Baxter 2, or Traximus.
