VENUS...thank God she is scrap.

WHo here hated the fact that a new female turtle was brought into the group? So glad the ydecided to scrap her,, was the stupidst thing they could have done,, the turtles should stay 4!

Anyone here actually liked her/?

Kali 02-17-2003 02:08 PM

*raises her hand* I liked the concept.

Now, I'm not saying they should bring her back. The biggest problem I have with the choice to erase Venus from TMNT was the way they did it. They had incorporated her so deeply in the site and TMNT Letters (a sub-universe in itself) and then suddenly, she was gone from there. Very weak and lazy. Honestly, I would have preferred they kill her off instead. There are better ways to get rid of a character then "poof, she's gone!"

If they'd gone about it with a little more creativity, it wouldn't bother me that much. I'd be like, "okay", then go about my business. But no, they had to cop out and be pathetic about it.

mariomania 02-17-2003 02:11 PM

maybe they knew it was a mistake...like everyone else.. lol,,,was just stupid

Kali 02-17-2003 02:14 PM

Yes, a mistake, but any half-decent artist knows how to cover up a mistake seamlessly. It's NOT that hard, they didn't have to draw attention to it.

They could have always done the DC Route... (QUICK DESTROY ALL ALTERNATE REALITIES!!!!!)

Shellfox 02-17-2003 10:24 PM

she was a good concept with a bad execution. Maybe if they had introduced her in a comic or animated series she may have stuck but the fact that she came from the live action hurt her more than anything else.

And the fact that she was the fifth turtle from the bowl (pretty lame in itself) and she knew magic...

MAGIC! :D

ninjaturtles 02-18-2003 01:01 AM

With Venus being a character. She ruins the whole plot. She is not like her turtle brothers, I mean, like one big difference is that they were named after painters from the Italin Reassisance and she was not, plus they were original characters.

It is just like there being a new Punk Frog and called her Mary Antionfrog, in opposition to Mary Antionette.

It ruins the whole plot. It makes no sense. She should be taken out.

Leonardo 02-18-2003 02:19 AM

She ruins the whole dynamic foresome thing with her... being. She's like a shackle around the turtlefeet. A new weak ally that really doesnt do anything but get saved.... And her body structure is weeiiird... someone told me that the Next mutation was a bad copy of the Power Rangers... and I agree. Death to Venus De Milo!

That Matt Guy 02-18-2003 02:29 AM

Venus won't truly be dead until people quit talking about her, SO STOP IT!

Karpo_007 02-18-2003 07:47 AM

Well she is dead in every official TMNT form.

Aztec General 02-18-2003 10:06 AM

I thought Venus and the other new concepts on the Next Mutation were pure genius. I mean a female, secret, fifth turtle, and she knows MAGIC! Then there's the great villians....(smirks) Oh hell I can't even keep a straight face while typing this. Burn Next Mutation, burn, burn, burn!

Shellfox 02-18-2003 10:36 AM

Bah, I loved Venus, she wasn't usless, she just wasn't experianced. She went from a sheltered life where she was taught magic to a world were she was alone in her past, in a strange place, with people tring to kill her. It was massive culture shock people she wasn't usless.

And I stand by her being a good idea, its sabans that sucks, Venus was the most powerful person in the damn show, and the irradication of her is suck a biased and desrepectful way was a travisty.

Given time she could have been a great chacter, she just needed to be put in the right medium, with the right cretive forces

heretic888 02-18-2003 11:35 AM

hmmm

well, i think venus (or character very similar to her) could be incorporated in the ninja turtle epic at some point.....

however, it is essential to remember that in the REAL turtle mythology, one of the big themes is the notion of isolation so much so that one can never really have a chance of perpetuating your 'kind' or of romantic involvement.... now, this may just be a stage in the characters' archetypal growth and such elements like venus could be incorporated later in.

now, the thing i DO have a problem with is not a fifth, female turtle.... that maybe feasible and acceptable at some point in the epic. no, i have a problem with venus' story itself. washed down the drain?? shinobi?? magic?? what the hell??? it has saban written all over it....

no, if we are gonna get venus or someone like her and put her in the tmnt epic than we need to radically rework her story. this 'shinobi' ("I'm not ninja, I am shinobi."  ) bit ain't cuttin' it.....

Kali 02-18-2003 11:55 AM

There were so many other origins they could have used. Scientific experiment, genetic experimentation, radiation, a different canister of ooze, or maybe she just had no idea where she came from. Saban's story had a LOT of holes. The only thing she knew for certain was that she was found in a New York drainage ditch, they "filled in" the parts about her being in the jar with them and floating away. It's possible that never happened. I still say she's evil and is just biding her time until she can claim ultimate power for her own and take over the world. Bwahahahaha!

I so wanna buy her character rights. And maybe those of the other characters like Dragonlord and Bonesteel. Just spent all my cash on figures and socks, but I'm sure I can strike a deal with Peter. Then he'd have a good excuse for not using her: "I don't own her!"

heretic888 02-18-2003 11:58 AM

heh

heh. if demilo tried to take over the world, she would so get her 'shinobi' ass kicked...

Agreed. :D

You don't hear people moaning about Ninjara or Mona Lizard, now do yah?

heretic888 02-18-2003 12:03 PM

hmmm

well, Mona Lisa WAS a lil' lame..... :D

Aztec General 02-18-2003 03:20 PM

Heretic is right, in the Mirage comics the TMNT isolation was a recurrent theme. One of the best examples was Vol. 1 Issue 28 by Jim Lawson. I believe it was titled "Sons of the Silent Age". An absolutely brilliant, yet depressing issue.

rayfillet101 02-18-2003 07:27 PM

rite, everyone loves ninjara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I do like venus as a character, they overdid the shinobi thing though.

azure turtle 02-18-2003 07:30 PM

I liked Venus. I hated how Saban characterized her. 'Nuff said. :tread:

Yes, I like that theme in Mirage too. You don't see me trying to write out sappy gettin-it-on romance fics in that universe either.

To each universe is their own, is what I go by. What works in one, will not work in the other. But since TNM was based off of the movies.. and that isn't like Mirage, I was cool with it. But then Saban had to make it soooo crappy. *sai*

She was lame because in the cartoon she was only in one episode. It just didn't make sense to have a story about her and never use her again.

Its pretty irritating that people can 'pretend' that the turtles really exist and get all excited thinking of them and such.....I wish they were real so that they could poop a bunch of eggs onto your beds and then swiftly jump kick you square in the cheekbone.

Venus was Leo's deformed clone in drag. Confused by only recieving half of Leo's mentality, he became, and thought, he was a woman. And the deformed-ness explains the chest and lack of muscle structure.

Well, heck there are quite a few humans I find attractive as well. It's the "exoticness", along with the great personalities I find attractive. Their Turtle qualities are actually very low on the list. I don't think regular turtles are that attractive. Cute, in a pet shop way, but not attractive.

But honestly, I don't care what color skin you have, when your muscles bulge like that *swoons*

Well, considering that you used the word SLOBBERY to describe them, I'm gonna have to say no.

Brodie 02-26-2003 05:23 PM
