Corrections...

I've noticed people call Raph "Ralph" and spell Michaelangelo "Michelangelo". Michelangelo is a renaissance artist, Michaelangelo is a Ninja Turtle. Doesn't this bother anyone else?

Karpo_007 02-25-2003 05:05 PM

You are wrong, in all current and future TMNT project correct spelling is used. So it is Michelangelo.

One Radical Dude 02-25-2003 05:16 PM

I don't think the spelling matters to me. It was spelled "Michaelangelo" in the old cartoon, movies, and the older comics. It was changed to "Michelangelo" later on. Mike, Mikey, Michelangelo, Michaelangelo... :trazz: It doesn't matter to me.

Karpo_007 02-25-2003 05:20 PM

Me neither, but thats how it's officially spelled now.

One Radical Dude 02-25-2003 05:21 PM

Yeah, I know. That doesn't mean everyone will agree to it. I know that the right spelling will stay from now on, that's for sure. Either way, it doesn't bother me at all.

Tinselcat 02-25-2003 06:09 PM

Do people really call raph 'ralph'? that's funny.

One Radical Dude 02-25-2003 06:14 PM

Who calls Raph...."Ralph"?

Duke 02-25-2003 06:34 PM

My stupid roommate calls Raph "ralph" and Donnie "donie."

Voltron 02-25-2003 06:34 PM

Whoa!

Michaelangelo is resolved, yet I see a suprising amount of people call Raph "Ralph". I didnt know if this was some thing that everyone does to make his name more American sounding or if they are just idiots.

Duke 02-25-2003 06:37 PM

My roommate is a mexican not an American. So I'm going with the idiot theory.

nimrod 02-25-2003 06:51 PM

Ralph. That's a good one although I can't remember anyone ever using it.

I never tried to spell Mikey's name though. I just take the easy way out like so. :)

Kali 02-25-2003 07:20 PM

It ALWAYS annoys me whenever I see Raph spelled as "Ralph". Seems like an honest mistake that a spellchecker would miss (or even use in place of "Raph".) Once I understand, but every single time it appears?!? *bangs her head on her desk*

Kali i like your avitar.

Raph's_Girl 02-26-2003 01:59 PM

Well, it's kinda bothered me. But, then again, i'm the type that's up for proper spelling and all, y'know?

Karpo_007 02-26-2003 05:00 PM

Micky.....Mickey Mouse!! The mouse is definitely in the house! :tsmile: :trazz:

Greed 02-26-2003 09:07 PM

No you compared Mikey with that fruit of a mouse Mickey

Vroomkid 03-05-2003 08:04 AM

Not trying to be rude, but I'm just wondering if it's really that offending to compare Mikey to Mickey Mouse...I mean, they're both cartoon characters whatnots - and both served their purpose to bring some joy into children's lives (and adults)...so what's the fuss here again?

The correct names are

MICHELANGELO
RAFFAELLO (Raphael ---> Raph)

Michelangelo comes out from Michelangelo Buonarroti a famous 1500 italian artists who made for example the David in Florence.
Raphael comes out form Raffaello Sanzio who made for instance La Trasfigurazione

Machias Banshee 03-05-2003 11:55 AM

Thanks for the info, Supermik!

Uh oh, so Raph should be Raff now? Or is Raph the English translation to the Italian name? But Michelangelo is the original Italian version ain't it...so is Raph spelled wrong from the beginning too?
:goofygri:

*head blows up from over-thinking*

Reznorite420 03-05-2003 11:36 PM

Voltron: There've been worse misspellings of TMNT characters before.

There was even a thread about the misspelling of Krang's name on an eBay auction spelled "Craing".

Uhm, we could say so: the original name of Raphael is RAFFAELLO, Raphael is an english translation of the correct italian name RAFFAELLO.

In italian is correct RAFFAELLO, but in english is correct Raphael.

For example the italian friendly name for Raffaello is Raf (it would be correct for the Turtle and for the people) or Lello (never used for Turles, but usually used for people), so the correct english friendly name is Raph.
I think so...
