Playmates are bigger idiots than I realized
I work in the toy department at Wal-Mart, and since the 2007 movie dubuted all we;ve had is variants on the movie toys. That is till this past summer, know all we have is left overs. This past Sunday I had two seprete kids in the 11/12 range come up to me asking if we had ninja turtle toys from the cartoon series instead of the movie. I assumed they ment the older ones from FF and the earlier seasons so I brought them to the clearance aisles where we had a few straglers that we can't get rid of thats been around forever and on both occassions each kid said no they wanted to know if we had toys from the most recent season Back to the Sewers! :o :o
I was freakin shocked! I was like "uh no, we don't have any toys for the new season the cartoon series" And both wanted to know when we would carry them. :o I couldn't bring my self to tell them that wheren't going to be any because both kids seemed like they really wanted them. Gee, how idiotic of playmates to not make toys for Back to the Sewers, I'm surpised as heck that I actually had some one ask me about them instead of Bakugan or something. :o |
Do kids even play with those Bakugan things? I never see any of 'em get sold.
Yeah, I was at Toys R' Us the day after Back to the Sewer debuted, and a kid wanted (direct quote) "Raph like on TV I saw yesterday". He seemed disappointed that there wasn't one, but he reluctantly settled for Alien Hunter Raph. To my surprise, his mother for whatever reason kept trying to convince him to get an Iron Man figure, and he blatantly refused, preferring Raph instead. |
While Playmates are idiots it was Wal-Mart choice to no longer sell TMNT toys by Playmates.
I've been talking about this in the toy section for some time now. As of this Spring all Wal-Marts will no longer be selling TMNT figures. I know no one likes to listen to but in time everything I say will come to pass and I'll just sit back and smile I won't even tell everyone i told you so about the toys, or the new toon ending. :D Oh btw some one should move this to the toy section. why didn't you just tell those kids that they wheren't going to be any ninja turtle toys for BTTS and put them out of their misary? Letting them think that it's still a possiablility that toys for the current season might appear at some point when they never will is cruel.

sorry for straying off topic, but i had to say this: It's stories like this that, no matter what, make me smile in happiness. I'm glad to know the love I, and everyone here, has for the tmnt spreads even to this day after all this time |
And if the whole show is cancelled, will this really matter anyway?
Playmates pisses me off, as much as I hate 4kids, Playmates is even worse. |
Just the fact that kids are still watching turtles (even if that is coming to an end) and trying to get their hands on action figures of the turtles makes me happy. Yeah, I know, I'm old fashioned, but maybe if there's still some interest then it won't die out, although I doubt it.

I would totally be surprised if the BTTS sort of toys even happen. The time to strike was a month before the show premiered. The movie line did really well at first because they were hyped up just as the movie trailers were popping out. Now, they're waiting till after the Christmas rush for one thing... and until after the series is over to release them. HAH. (It's too bad KB doesn't do clearnaced toys anymore... I'd love them to try and sell repackaged TMNT 2K3 toys at about 5 bucks each... at least that way, people will actually see half the toy line) |

Ok, so on a related note, today on my day off I decided to do some running around, which I haven't done in a while due to the MCubed videos I make and I stopped by Toys R Us, which was packed. It made me think, what doe Playmates have to offer kids who are Turtle fans this Christmas, not us adults who have seriously felt slighted by Playmates, but just kids. I realized there is not one thing TMNT related slated for a Christmas release, probably due to the 25th next anniversary year...talk about sad for kids.
|
Oh come on... NOTHING TMNT related for this Christmas year? Geez man, at least make more mini-figs or something.. I want a snowboarding Bishop figure, dammit!!!
|
no surprise here. it's dying a slow death.

How about a Turtle hanging itself by the Playmates logo? Someone should do a sculpy of that :)...
Mr.Laird, if you are reading this, next go around, PLEASE forget about the past and think of the future. Get a real Toy License for the Turtles (Probably needs to be an up and coming company with people who know fun and the industry). If even the new company falls flat on it's face, then I guess Playmates is following the industry standard....Suck and Blow at the same time :). |
Some of the *cough* newer stuff might come out early before Christmas. It has happened before has'nt it?

Nothing from Playmates. Everytime I look around I see new TMNT ornaments that weren't there last year. That's about it. As stupid as they would look, TMNT with Santa Hats and stuff like that would be pretty cute. The only thing that bugs me is how slow they're been with the Mini-mutants. They really should have made another series after the X-treme sports stuff. |
Y'know... now that I think about it... the next time kids ask for Back to the Sewers TMNT figures, give them those mini-figs. I mean, the Turtles in black stealth outfits and the Extreme Sports outfits have already appeared in Back to the Sewers episodes... right?

Those kids know their stuff. Long live collectors. |
This is so sad! :( Why would Playmates do this?! I'm so shock.
They don't even pay attention to what kids want.. |
Well.. apparently the Turtles will be wearing their Sub-Sewer outfits and gear in the last episode.. so um.. yeah.... the Sub-Sewer sets are ALSO considered Back to the Sewers toys now...?

Seems Playmates is busy making a new batch of the original line of TMNT figures. Since nearly all TMNT stuff seems on hiatus until sometime in 2009, that's probably why we're not getting anything.
|
If that's a respite break, I'd rather they come clean and admit it.

Also: it doesn't explain why Metal Klawz and Spider Bytez aren't out yet. That nut Paula has given me no less than six different release dates for those suckers.
|
I wonder what the latest release date is. Paula won't talk to me, she just forwards me to Vivid Imaginations who dirty thier hands with UK stuff instead of Playmates. The thing is Vivid dropped all TMNT stuff from thier site.

"The sub sewer line should be out in the retail stores now and the two villains will be the mole and the spider." Which tells me absolutely nothing. |
I remember that message before about the 'mole and the spider'. They do have names Paula LOL. :D
No chance of them appearing in Woolworths here. Woolworths are going under sadly. :( ===HERO |
