Episode 12 of BTTS summary on official site

Seems like Dan put the preview summary for "Super-powered Struggle" of BTTS on ninjaturtles.com. This is the 12th episode of the season.

Quote:

When Raph gets hold of a cape that grants him super powers, an impressed Justice Force invites him into their ranks and Mikey gets super jealous. But when Dr. Malignus tries to get the cape for his own villainous designs, Mikey and Raph must put aside their differences to save the city!
I guess we'll see the redesigned Silver Sentry in the show.

Considering this is possibly the second to last episode of the series, why do I get the impression that 4kids wanted the show to go on for longer? It certainly doesn't feel like they intended this to be the last season, especially with yet another Justice force ep.

Machias Banshee 12-05-2008 05:38 PM

If this is the next ep, then the season is definitely NOT ending with just 12 episodes.

CyberCubed 12-05-2008 05:39 PM

You mean 13 eps, whatever the final ep is we don't know yet.

What happened to the 3 Shredders fighting each other in the first episode that was hinted to happen in this season? That can't possibly just happen in the last episode, could it? Something odd is going on.

Raph's Girl 12-05-2008 06:22 PM

A cape that grants the user super powers and Raph gets it?! I wonder what his hero name will be... Green Avenger perhaps?

Looks like we get to meet some new heroes too: Green Mantle, Fastidious Lad, Mechazoid, and Tammy Tamlin (hahaha... no LL's here...no we get TT's).

Green Mantle is no doubt Green Lantern, Fastidious Lad is probably related to Zippy Lad.

Lil G 12-05-2008 06:41 PM

hmmm... maybe theyre saving it up for the dtv special? but i read somewhere that has nothing to do with the show. if thats true then were most likely going to get another season.:D

Ninjinister 12-05-2008 06:45 PM

Sean Schemmel is now playing Zippy Lad and Marc Diraison is now Silver Sentry? Not to mention Michael Alston Bailey as Malignus.... What happened to their original actors?

Except that its Fasitidious Boy & Man... no Lad.

Coola Yagami 12-05-2008 07:17 PM

Maybe there's hope for another season....

Orrrrr maybe these guys are dumb enough to pull off another Day of Awakening and have the Shredder war/rescue Splinter/defeat Cyber Shredder/Viral/send Serling back home take place all in one episode.....

If they were any kind of smart, they should leave hints of the Shredder War as aseason-ending cliffhanger.

VaughnMichael 12-05-2008 07:35 PM

*face Palm* all I can say about this next to last episode is what the living hell.

CyberCubed 12-05-2008 07:42 PM

Is it still possible this might not be the last season?

I don't care anymore, and I'm not going down that road.
I've said what I've had to say, you guys can choose to believe or not.
Just remember they did this same crap with FF.
I'm seriously sick of TMNT fans have sh1t filled pies thrown in their collective faces though.:x

ZariusTwo 12-05-2008 08:03 PM

Ugh, it's the "one episode finale" notion that Power Rangers has adapted for two years to save money

Yep, the evidence is pretty muc.....HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...erm...HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA

Tomoshibi Amatsu 12-05-2008 08:11 PM

I think it's weird that they'd put a filler like this in before getting splinter back, but I guess maybe they're saving that for the last episode.

ZariusTwo 12-05-2008 08:23 PM

It's typical lazy s*it from typically lazy people.

Back when the series was GOOD, we had a little thing called "two part storylines" that tied everything up

Tomoshibi Amatsu 12-05-2008 08:33 PM

Well maybe it would have had that. Had they gotten 26 episodes instead of 13:roll:

But they knew there were only 13 episodes. They should have written for 13 episodes.

Jester 12-05-2008 08:42 PM

Indeed...gah if they (attempt to) tie all the loose ends up in one episode it's gonna be a disaster...

Unless it's the DTV thing...to which I say....Pleeb!

Honestly I have to agree... Which is why I'm hoping that the movie that's been talked about will tie up all the loose ends.

Unfortunately I don't know why they didn't just write for 13 episodes. Maybe they thought they could do this whole arc in 13 episodes, and just got over their heads. That's my input anyways.

aprilsfan 12-05-2008 08:55 PM

well this is just a theory and i could be wrong, but my guess is that this so called "movie" is probably just a 3 parter story that will conclude the shredder story arc, as well as put splinter together and marry off casey & april, unless one of these 3 storylines is in the final btts episode.

Jester 12-05-2008 08:57 PM

I really hope the movie doesn't tie up the loose ends and isa rather a stand alone story.

Peter maintained that the movie will not be just three extra episodes of Back to the Sewer or whatever.

aprilsfan 12-05-2008 09:02 PM

well then the last episode will just have them save splinter and kill the shredder, the end, LOL.

Tomoshibi Amatsu 12-05-2008 09:05 PM

Well then I go with the idea that the writers just went over their heads and thought they could actually fit the whole cyber shredder and splinter thing into 13 episodes.

Lulz, BTTS trollzed usz:)

MrPliggins 12-05-2008 10:32 PM

I doubt they would continue an aired show on a DTV..maybe loose continuity, but not main story points. That'd be like saying "you watched the story so far, now you have to pay us to see the rest". Most DTVs are self-contained stories.

CyberCubed 12-05-2008 10:37 PM

Yeah, at least with FF they thought it would go on for another season which is why it didn't wrap up everything.

But with BTTS they knew only 13 episodes were ordered, so why make another Justice Force ep as the second to last episode?

Are we expected to believe they fight 3 Shredder's and restore Splinter in the finale?

I believe the Shredder Wars will be the DTV movie and the last episode of this season will just deal with Cyber Shredder and Splinter. That's the only way to wrap this up with few loose ends.

MrPliggins, just because it's stand alone doesn't mean they can't foreshadow or reference it. As long as it can be veiwed alone, it's self-contained.

Now, as for episode 12, I'm so disappointed we aren't getting a 2-part to end the season. I know that 4kids thought the show had to many parters, but that's no reason to go cold turkey.

sdp 12-05-2008 11:14 PM

I've seen tons of shows/cartoons/anime that leave a bunch of loose ends until the last episode and I always think they would need more episodes and most times they get the job done.

Haven't seen BTTS yet but like I said I've seen series that are able to do it with TONS of thing that still need to be resolved and the final conflict not started yet.

And I really hope that is what is done as I'd prefer a stand alone DTV with something new/different and not just the "real" finale of the season, unless its a finale of the whole series which I doubt it'd be.

Coola Yagami 12-05-2008 11:30 PM

They must know what they're doing. Remember, all 13 episodes are already made, they're just airing them one week at a time. It's not like South Park where they're scrambling to make a new episode every week. It's already been done. If they're making the second-to-last episode about the JL (which btw we've already seen previews of their BTTS design so we can't say we didn't see it coming) they must already have the Shredder war and Splinter being saved all figured out.... or it could lead into the next season.

veemonjosh 12-05-2008 11:58 PM

So, let's see what they still have left to do here...

They need to defeat Cyber Shredder/Viral, get Splinter back, hold April and Casey's wedding, send Serling home, and deal with the whole Shredder Wars thing, including Khan thinking the turtles are dead.

Seriously, the last bit on there alone made me think this season would end on a two-parter, but this is pathetic. NO series with a continuing storyline spends what they know might be their final season on pointless unrelated fillers. If the show seriously ends on this note, I'll probably stop watching their block for good.

X 12-06-2008 12:12 AM

This does seem odd.

The writers of this show, or planners of this new season would be utterly dumb if they didn't get to tie up these loose ends.

However, I think that with TMNT4Kids saying the Shredder Wars would be next, but the term wars means its longer then 1, gets me thinking there will be another season. If not, ending the show without a proper ending, is a bad move.

There is too much, with Karai being shown as a character that is to appear in BttS not showing up, Khan saying he has defeated the TMNT before, and the Shredder Wars, April and Caseys wedding, and sending Serling back home to not warrant another season.

CyberCubed 12-06-2008 12:12 AM

Heh, the finale was confirmed to be April/Casey's wedding, wasn't it? Unless that's what the DTV is, but I kinda doubt it.

Yeah...this doesn't seem written as if it was intended to be the final season.

This all seems like it could be done in one episode without it being rushed, I mean how much time did you really think they'd spend on the wedding? Serling going home another fast thing. Getting splinter back would be after defeating Cyber Shredder.

Don't know what the Shredder Wars is so can't comment on that but the other all seems like it could happen in one episode without many problems.

aprilsfan 12-06-2008 12:46 AM

maybe while mike and raph play superhero, leo and don will complete splinter and at the end of this episode splinter will be fixed.

then the wedding could be the last episode.

and the movie could have karai, bishop, others, helping the tmnt battle the 3 shredders.

Coola Yagami 12-06-2008 01:06 AM

The movie will be something else, it might not even take place in the same 2K3 universe...

As for the season.. who the hell even said it was the last? We might still have one more ready. They might even be scripting the next episodes as we speak.

So you're choosing to ignore the two reliable fan sources that have claimed for weeks it was ending this season?

Indeed a reliable source you can all believe.

Exactly even the old toon didn't end like this it was all a continuing thing with the Lord Dregg Story!

I know you don't want to know things X but I've been told they're holding back episodes but that could mean these 2 we're waiting on while we go into reruns again or that could mean they have more than 2 episodes left and will try and call it another season like they did with FF.

ToTheNines 12-06-2008 07:42 AM

I bet the season finale is a christmas episode that airs in february, and splinter comes back and CJ and April get married in the end!!!!

Drtooth 12-06-2008 09:21 AM

This episode would have been a good idea... IF they had 26 episodes. Ugh... just ugh. Can't be any worse than Superquest, and I gotta admit, I like the Justice force... but essentially, we have a freaking 'nother Mikey episode where he acts like a horse's tweeze for 20 minutes.

Maybe it's good we're not getting another season.

X 12-06-2008 09:33 AM

Well I guess only time will tell.

We either get a new season that fleshes this stuff out, or we don't.

We will let 4Kids decide the fate of our favorite show, and everyone will make their decisions what to do next I am sure.

Something about the way this season played out though, doesn't make sense. Either it is crappy writing, by a person with no focus, or it was never intended to be the last season (who starts a brand new SERIES as the CW states before each episode only to have it end after 13 episodes.)

Only time will tell, and what the corporations (Mirage, Playmates which is odd, or 4kids,) have to say about it.

Oh, no doubt in my mind is that this was a transitional season, trying to get as many ideas from the vetoed show directions (with the obvious exception of Ultimate TMNT) as possible. I bet this season was mostly cobbled together from unused sample scripts... hence the episode with the Baby Turtles, the Superquest stuff, and this one clearly from TMNT OVerworld (the superheor trading card one). The same problem FF had. it didn't think it would end either. We'll get some spotty closure, for sure.

But as I keep saying, 4Kids seems to care a lot more than the other 2 corps combined.... (of course, zero plus zero is still zero...) I mean, it is their anchor show after all. I'm sure they could find something else to be the anchor, but it wouldn't be remotely as successful. I don't think Chaotic is doing that well, and it seems Dino King isn't quite catching on... and since there aren't any anime companies left that want to do business with them (considering what happened to Tokyo Mew Mew and One Piece, is there any wonder), they have a slim go.

Unless some major heavy duty haggling between the three companies, or at the very least really really major haggling with 4Kids and Mirage, this seems to be it. Pretty unsatisfying. Oh well, at least BTTS had about 5 good episodes in it....
