Official 25th Anniversary Figures Thread

Well i didn't know they were out already (I'm guessing its a bootleg?) but here is a 25th mikey

http://cgi.ebay.com/25th-anniversary...%3A10|294%3A50

Again, I don't think it's the real deal, but i've been wrong before

edit:
sorry if this is the wrong thread, seems like there are 10 threads about new toys...

IamtheKnight 01-06-2009 03:38 PM

Nice find! But the box art looks awful!

If it's a bootleg, they really paid attention to detail!

IamtheKnight 01-06-2009 04:58 PM

Sure is. Sad isn't it.

I suppose it is if you were expecting a real live mutant turtle to call your own from Playmates and hadn't heard the news of re-issuing the original figures, but it's not like that the final product is a shocking development that's sending fans into tears or anything.

We've known about this for awhile.

dripgutz24 01-06-2009 05:12 PM

I think the box art is just fine, its not like G.I. Joe did anything spectacular for there 25th, this is pretty much what I expected to look like what the originals did and they did that plus adding a original dvd which is cool, Thats if this is the real re-issue packaging.

NoPressApril 01-06-2009 05:35 PM

How cool. That packaging is sharp and a helluva tribute to the old line. I wish that Playmates had went with the tent hook instead of the J-peg but that's really minor. The inclusion of classic episodes on DVD is pretty sweet too. Now, I wonder which online retailers are going to be selling cases? :)

Candy Kappa 01-06-2009 05:47 PM

nice I want those

oooooooooh sarcasm...

I meant the lack of effort that they put into their packaging. every other toy line that has done commemorative figs has made a effort to present their reissues in a package that has usually complimented the original product. but its clear that playmates doesn't feel that the TMNT reissues are worthy of being presented to the fans like the Star Wars or MOTU reissues. and besides, this is just messy, 2 really large and unattractive stickers on the bubble, the card art doesn't match the originals, and I just love the way they tucked April in the corner on the bottom of the card like she doesn't matter. and why the hell is Mikey slanted in the bubble? I sure as hell don't remember that from the original line. yeah great job Playmates, you cant even display your figs in their package upright.

Candy Kappa 01-06-2009 05:55 PM

as long as the figure is fine I don't mind. I can't keep them in the box anyway I'd go CRAZY!:D

DonsAssistant 01-06-2009 06:09 PM

nice find. I guess that confirms my post in this thread

Jester 01-06-2009 06:13 PM

Wow, pant-less Shredder even made the box art, way to go Playmates. I wonder if we have 1 episode for all 12 figures or if we get 12 distinct episodes.

A little *too* Raph 01-06-2009 06:15 PM

maybe its a build-an-episode promotion

DonsAssistant 01-06-2009 06:16 PM

the krang on the back is strange...is it an accessory included with shredder???

I didn't expect casey. I thought it was the first 10 plus krang and slash. Interesting changes from what I expected

Roseangelo 01-06-2009 06:35 PM

If pantsless Shredder made it to inside the package, I am so buying that.

Archon_Turtle 01-06-2009 06:47 PM

It's an evil black diaper

King Kahn 01-06-2009 06:57 PM

how much were these?

IamtheKnight 01-06-2009 07:07 PM

8.99 each. Pant less shredder FTW!

Leonardo19 01-06-2009 07:16 PM

Looks like one has made it to Ebay.

MrPliggins 01-06-2009 07:46 PM

must we complain about everything?

Kendamu 01-06-2009 08:33 PM

Yes. True fans whine about everything and buy it anyway.

Kendamu 01-06-2009 08:36 PM

For the most part, I'm glad these are out and can totally promote the OT universe and whatnot. However, only one thing minorly disappoints me: no character bios cards.

Nice to see Casey made the line, though. Casey is my favorite!

Oh, and pantsless Shredder rocks! It's like a masked anorexic Sumo wrestler.

EDIT: Oh, hey. Where can I pick these up?

Jester 01-06-2009 08:39 PM

Darn right....Foot Bot army for the win!

LOL! so true!

BigApple3AM 01-06-2009 09:34 PM

It's a bit of a shame they're not keeping the individualized cards since they're already done anyway, but it'll definitely kick ass to see the old school stuff on the pegs again.

Thank you for covering everything I thought, I'm just going to have Sarah speak for me from this point forward :)

I've said from the start that I will not be buying a single one of these, and the disappointment continues.
There is one thing to whine and then there is constructive criticism which Sarah is doing and she is completely correct about the things she listed.
That is some of the worst layout and design work I've ever seen, it's sloppy as all hell.
I can't wait to see how aesthetically displeasing the back is now.
Each character should have their own had brand new art that was close to the old box's but different enough that people knew, they should have also used some sort of gold anniversary sticker or something.
I made it one of my goals not to complain in this new year, but it's hard to not be disappointed when untalented hacks are out there doing bad design jobs.

VaughnMichael 01-06-2009 10:25 PM

These are just so horrible in a graphic designers eyes it makes them want to bleed purple goo.
Geez the back is even worse I seriously cannot believe those images ended up on it!
And I am dumbfounded that they would release that horrible little Krang that came with the 1994 Android Body without the body.
It looks as if Krang will be some sort of pack-in for pantless Shredder.
They should have just release this again.

EDIT: oh and I told you guys Slash was being re-released didn't I, maybe people will start listening to what I say around here.

Jester 01-06-2009 10:30 PM

Ok, Vaughn, I consider you a bud and that's kinda tired...:P

thegame24 01-06-2009 10:38 PM

Found these today at a Target in Indiana. The DCPI is 087 06 2080

sdp 01-06-2009 10:38 PM

Wow, they're very expensive for what they are. I expected them to be 5-6 dollars. Not having Krang was a stupid stupid move, as much as I like Slash.

LMAO if Shredder is actually Pants-less.

Anyway the DVD looks like its using the same type of LionsGate artwork, could they actually be the volumes packed in? That would make it a great deal, at least those who don't own them. Though its more likely they all have different random episodes that don't even feature the character you just bought. Who knows maybe they include the skipped episodes from the volume sets:lol:

I dropped that suggestion with Murphy awhile back; no clue what came of it, though. Guess we'll soon find out.

thegame24 01-06-2009 10:41 PM

The package says there are five different DVDs and each one has one episode.

Looking closer, it looks like the old Playmates box art actually.

What part Jester? The part where people keep being a-holes into the new year even though the things I've said a millions times keep being proven or the part where I really don't give a flying fu$# anymore?

NoPressApril 01-06-2009 11:08 PM

ummm, anyway back on track. Thanks for the DCPI # thegame24 it looks like i'm going to have to stalk Target to get the new April as I can't find any online retailers that are offering these by the case. I really thought that Entertainment Earth would be selling these but I would have thought that they would have had these up for preorder by now. If anyone comes across any sites selling these by the case please post and let me know, I would be most appreciative. :)
