We Want FANS for the next TMNT DVD SET!

Superhero Productions is working with Lionsgate to produce more bonus features for the original animated series DVD sets. Lionsgate had never done bonus features before they contacted us and we put together the bonus features on Season 4 (new interviews with Pat Fraley and James Avery) and Season 5 (all four original turtles!). We're working on some great stuff for the next set of DVDs and we'd like your help. That's right, one thing we're going to do this time is interview a handful of the BIGGEST fans we can find with the coolest collections. Living in Southern California (where we are based) is a plus although not a necessity. Let us know if you or anyone you know my be interested. Please tell us where you live, about your Turtles obsession and your personal collection. Don't message here, email [email protected]

Thanks!

Buslady, rose, michele ivey, assemble!!

Deathknight 01-22-2009 07:34 PM

Damn, my only collection of tmnt stuff is the old vhs. I have almost all of them. My action figures are in really rough shape.

Jester 01-22-2009 07:37 PM

That's me, my collection ain't great, but I love the guys....maybe I should revive the OT TMNT Reference Guide.

Spitfire 01-22-2009 07:49 PM

I have a pretty huge collection. I own all the comics for starters. My collection resides in Sunnyvale, CA. It's not as big as others here on the forum but this is 20+ years of all the stuff I've acquired. I have pictures if needed.

Archon_Turtle 01-22-2009 08:38 PM

I have (to my knowledge) the most content complete Playmates Ninja Turtles collection in the world. Along with the largest collection of vintage TMNT Wax Sculpts and Prototypes. This includes several prototypes of figures that were never released.

VaughnMichael 01-22-2009 08:41 PM

Yeah I'd like to see them talk to some fans like Spitfire and Archon.
I used to have a great collection myself but all I have now are the great memories since I sold most of my collection away.

Jester 01-22-2009 08:48 PM

I sold mine before going to Italy...darn US Military deployments....:(

Yeah but Vaughn, you have the passion, knowledge, and experience within the fandom. You would definitely be worthwhile.

Kendamu 01-22-2009 08:48 PM

I'm totally gonna take a stab at this.

joe-eyeball 01-22-2009 08:49 PM

I know I am not really known on this forum or really any others, but I can guarantee I have a collection that would rival almost anyone's. But its not what you have that really matters. All that matters is how you feel about the Turtles. I think its cool that someone is finally looking to the fans for at least some input.

Yes, we could call mine Empty House Full Brain.
But thanks. :)

joe-eyeball 01-22-2009 08:55 PM

Hey Vaughn it sucks that you had to sell your stuff. I have gotten in a few financial jams myself and told my wife that I would sell my TMNT stuff to help make ends meet, but she wouldn't let me do it. She knows how much the Turtles mean to me.

Roseangelo 01-22-2009 09:21 PM

Well, I've been told I live too far from them for their budget. I'm in Central California, so if they're not willing to go that far, it sounds like like the only people with any chance of being considered for this are gonna have to be between LA and San Diego.

joe-eyeball 01-22-2009 09:23 PM

So what your saying is that I'm screwed living in Cleveland. Man nothing good ever happens in Cleveland

We've got a new collection section in the toy forum for collection photos. You should throw some up Joe :-)

joe-eyeball 01-22-2009 09:29 PM

I think I'll do that once I get a camera that actually works.

Hey Archon, that ink alone will get you on that DVD. Nice work.

Because only the people with the biggest collections of TMNT crap can bee the BIGGEST fans? Sounds like you're looking to do a freakshow for a chuckle. "Look at the whacked out TMNT fan! LOLZ!"

Well, shoot... And, I really would have liked hearing your take on things or gawking at your collection. There's always Spit's production.

I actually asked for clarification about the subject of their project in my email to them, because having a huge collection does NOT equal being the biggest fan. My preference for appearing in this would actually be as a group with all my fellow CA fans and friends and sharing some of the fun we've had together instead of doing a showcase of my collection.

They didn't address this subject in their reply; they just told me I live too far.

I would assume they are looking for collections because this is going to be a short featurette, and the collections have the most VISUAL appeal. As opposed to Canadian_Turtle's production that is going to be full feature length...hence he doesn't care so much about collection size. I would imagine LionsGate is just looking for the wow factor...if that makes sense...

It's easy to assume that's what they want, but Andrew's point is completely valid. If they want to showcase collections, that's awesome and fine, but it shouldn't be presented as being equivalent to the biggest fans.

While I agree that it was a poorly worded statement on their part...I don't think there were ill intentions behind it, nor do I think they should be crucified for such.

Seriously...it can get a little disheartening when I hear people asking for more fan involvement in things, and when it happens, people get sand in their nether regions about it.

I don't think asking for clarity about the angle they're looking to take equates to having "sand in the nether regions."

If I'm going to volunteer to commit myself to video for something, I think it's within my right to know how and to what purpose my image is going to be used. I'm not that desperate to be on TV/DVD.

CyberCubed 01-22-2009 09:56 PM

Hey, here's an idea, instead of a silly documentary you guys should get Lionsgate to do something important like get the skipped eps on the DVDs instead.

Can someone explain to me why nobody can convince Lionsgate to put "Planet of the Turtleoids" and "Once upon a time Machine" on the DVDs?

Seriously, why are those eps still not on DVD?

They addressed it in-between the lines.

"You ask too many questions." Or, "Damn, she's onto us."

Collections should be nice, but shouldn't be a pre-requisite as part of any kind of a truly genuine "We want to hear from the big, longtime TMNT fans out there and do an objective piece on each of them" thing. I mean, you find a lifelong TMNT fan that's well-spoken, this isn't the 50s... you stand them in front of a blue screen and have TMNT imagery going on behind them or something.

I wasn't singling you out Rose. It was more of a statement toward the community at large. I'm guilty of it too, especially when Playmates is involved. I think A LOT of people (including myself) should really be a little more open minded to things when it comes to us actually getting results from our incessant bitching :-P

Yeah, this occurred to me. I wouldn't be surprised if the "You live too far" bit is just an easy excuse.

Jester 01-22-2009 10:34 PM

I'ma use that when I disagree with you from now on Rose...

"Rose...Rose...Rose...you're too far away!"

Actually, no, we never said we were only interviewing people in LA and San Diego. We already have a few interviews scheduled on the other side of the country. As we just replied to your email, we've extended ourselves pretty far money-wise and time-wise and can't reasonably get everywhere we'd like to.

Also, in the initial reply to you, we never said we absolutely would not come to you, we said "might be out of our budget range at the moment" and "we will keep you in mind and on the short list."

Not sure how that can be interpreted as "these guys are only interviewing fans who live in Southern California."

Apologies for any confusion.

No sir, not at all. You're reading a lot into a pretty simple statement. We want to find fans, period. This is no freak show. We are fans, too. Of TMNT and lots of stuff. We are a relatively small production company... As you may have inferred from the name, we are INTO the genre, not making fun of it.

There's enough of that out there.

Before Lionsgate hired us, there were no special features. We found Pat, James and all four original Turtles and put them on Season 4 and 5.

We want to do MORE for the fans, not make fun of them.

Collections are not a prerequisite. Didn't mean for it to come off that way. Also, not involved with Playmates in anyway. Only things we've done for TMNT prior to this are the bonus features on Season 4 and 5. That's it.

In a word: EXACTLY

That would rule but honestly would be next to impossible for us to pull-off. It's simply not that big of a project. This is more of a profile of a handful of fans. It would be great to be able to do what you just said and it sounds like some other folks are working on something maybe more like that. Would rule.

Super frustrating to us, as well. And to Lionsgate, believe it or not. This is being figured out. The problem is all of the conflicting information on various sites about the order episodes were aired in and in which seasons. There are different sites that say different things. Some sites list the episodes in the order aired, or story order, and others list them by production order.

Actually in touch with a great and open-minded fan (ahem) who has been explaining how it should / could be to us and we're going to pass it all on to Lionsgate.

Another great idea would be to not jump all over a fellow fan who comes into the Technodrome looking to get fans involved in these DVD sets which prior to our involvement had NO BONUS FEATURES WHATSOEVER.

Um... Sorry. Just saying.

Peace and love ya'll.

Jester 01-22-2009 10:59 PM

I think it'd be cool to see a collection of Turtle fans swapping stories. Would going to the NYCCC and going to the TMNT panel and collecting fans there be doable, or is that to late?

A great idea for sure but a bit beyond our scope. We've got some other things we're doing for this aside from the fan interviews which should also be cool.

Roseangelo 01-22-2009 11:12 PM

I apologize for being interpreted as "flaming," it wasn't my intention.
