Season 7 News and DVD Discussion
ToSte just posted a link to the NYCC toy display. On display is Season 7. Season 7 will be four parts with each coming will a Mini Mutant sized version of the original figures.
http://www.toyark.com/news/teenage-m...comic-con-780/ I'm not sure if I like this. I've been liking the full season sets that don't take up that much room. Other the other hand, it's a neat idea. EDIT: Here's the breakdown... Season 7 -Part 1 (Leo) http://www.toyark.com/news/attachmen...achmentid=3596 Season 7 -Part 2 (Mike): http://www.toyark.com/news/attachmen...achmentid=3595 Season 7 -Part 3 (Don): http://www.toyark.com/news/attachmen...achmentid=3598 Season 7 -Part 4(Raph): http://www.toyark.com/news/attachmen...achmentid=3597 With other Mini figures (Hmm...maybe they aren't quite Mini Mutant scale...) http://www.toyark.com/news/attachmen...achmentid=3620 |
F**k this mother fu*king sh*t! I litterally punched my computer screen..... WHY???1?1?!??!!!?!?!?!????!?!?!??
|
That's... odd. I wonder how much each volume will be. That's like 6 or 7 episodes a disc.

Why?
So, step one: Buy DVD. Throw out/store figurine. Repeat three more times. Buy DVD fatpack case. Stew over how much money you wasted. |
i'm just wondering who they're trying to market this to... have a lot of people really been buying these for their kids? i'm willing to bet the majority of us older folks who've been collecting the show on dvd don't want to spend money on another season split up 4 ways that includes mini figs.
hopefully there'll be a box with the whole thing in one box. |

On the up and up, the releases are finally getting some decent art.
Perhaps they will be packaging in the European Vacation episodes as well. Any word on a release date? |
For us that collect both the DVDs and the toys, these are pretty cool. After all, these are the first brand new figures based on the original toyline (the rereleases don't count) since 1997.

Well, at least there's a coherent background and the drawings are decent. It's the best cover "art" since season one, anyway. |
Man, Season 1 really had it right. lol

Just noticed the DVD covers combine for one picture.
Personally, I have nothing againist the figures but making it four volumes is dumb. I'm sure the European Vacation episodes are in there, but what I want to know is if Planet of the Turtleoids is in there. I still even seen those episodes and I know follow up episode(s?) are in this season. I'm having a really hard time getting into the DVDs after missing thise episodes. EDIT: Quote:
EDIT2: Hey, with the European Vacation being the first half of the season, those who want these episodes right after volume 6 might be able to put them there if the episodes split right. |
Can someone hook me up with the lionsgate e-mail adress while i'm still sick with rage? I really think that this is the single most asinine thing to be done to the TMNT (worse than the next mutation, we wish you a turtle christmas, and ninja tribunal), and they need to know.

So are they going to be released separately or at the same time? If there going to be released at the same time I can see the potential problem of a lot of stores either having low quantities or not having all four parts.
Anyway, this is obviously just a scheme for more money. I seriously doubt each part is going be less than $20. Anything more than $10 for these things (which they wont be) is crazy. |

All I want to know is if the skipped eps are there?
|
I'd need to see more details but so far with the little info we have I'm pretty hyped.
|
As long as the individual sets don't cost that much, I won't have a problem with this format.
|
I'm just desperate to get all the old episodes on DVD, and will take pretty much anything at this point, but that's really stupid. With the recession these companies are squeezing every drop of cash they can get on every DVD that comes out, and now this. I'm sure TMNT DVDs don't bring in a fortune for the people that make them, but surely they could have come up with something that was still cost-effective to produce while not so blatantly transparent.
I'll get em all, but I'm doing so under protest... |
i'm just kind of discouraged by it. i'll buy them of course, but we finally got season releases for the last 3 seasons and then they decide to split up the next one. but they're all released together so that makes up for it?
|
I just got done saying almost the exact same thing to my girlfriend. I didn't have a problem with the last few sets, but this is pretty blatantly a step backwards.
|
Ya know, it could be worse. Disney could own it and we would've never gotten past season 3 before they stopped making them (Can you tell I'm bitter about the Disney Afternoon DVDs?).

I will be at the comic con again tommorow, and I will try to interview a LionsGate rep if they are available.. Second Off: Maybe this is just a limited collectors edition? These idiots are confusing the **** out of people with how they are releasing this season... Third Off: If it is seperate sets, punch the computer screen for me :). Oh, and Fourth Off: I've been in contact with SuperHero , the company producing the extras. Season 7 WILL include the European episodes and 1993 CBS. I've told them Lions Gate would be better off putting the two skipped ones on there as well.. And if they really ARE releasing them like this, there is no reason not too |
Oh boy...there goes my money...So, wait...does this mean that all 4 will share bonus features?

Vegita-San, just make sure to finally get them to put "Planet of the Turtleoids" 2-parter and "Once upon a Time Machine" on it for good.
I fear this is our last chance to get those eps on DVD. |

Guess I'll never complete my TMNT '87 DVD collection... I ain't buying this. I'd like to financially support the DVDs, but Playmates can go to hell. Is this really the only way they can sell their plastics anymore, by the promos attached? I'll wait a few years to see if Lionsgate issues these in a full set, but this is the dumbest move they've made so far.

[QUOTE=NameGoesHere1066;669783]so wait, I'm very confused here. season seven is getting split up? /QUOTE]
They did this crap to Fraggle Rock Fans, if memory serves it as the right company... Although Turtle Fans are getting more screwed over with these confusing releases, assuming a separate Season 7 set doesn't get released.. |
Yeah S7 is being divided into four volumes, but they'll either all be released this year or at the same time so its cool. What made S3 unbearably long is each volume took 6 months to come out and it was one of the longest seasons.
The Mini old versions of the toys are awesome from the bad photos i've seen, I can't wait to have them. Also it looks like we will indeed get the 3 missing episodes/european vacation tour in this sets. Continuity might be messed up but a fellow technodromer pointed out how pretty much all seasons besides the first have episodes out of continuity. |
Looking at this news again in a new light, I'm thinking this might be one of TMNT's many improperly advertised products. I originally got the impression that these would be sold as toys with DVDs included, like how G.I.Joe DVDs are currently being sold. But, considering this is just a multipart revision of how they did the first 2K3 DVD box set (the first four volumes with a 4-pack of the 2K3 mini-mutant Turtles), I imagine these will be sold in DVD sections after all. The other way, you'd have to take into account chase figures and that sort of nonsense.
As much as I'd prefer all of Season 7 in a single case, this is acceptable if they all come out simultaneously or pretty close to it. |
The packaging for these wouldn't be so lame if it didn't take advantage of the people who want to buy these most (as mentioned, this will likely cost us all at least $40).
The episode order doesn't matter to me, so long as they all eventually get released. I'm in the process of ripping my entire DVD collection to a hard drive, so I can easily put them in any order I want. |
Why would you think likely at least 40? I was guessing max 35.
|
I'm thinking they're going to be $10 each. I would also think that each will have about 10 episodes. It'll be like the past volume releases which its a fair price about $1 an episode. What makes it sweeter is you get a small figure.
I personally love smaller figures too, they're easy to place anywhere without taking much space. As for the artwork, the first season was awesome, wish they would have kept with that. However at least we're getting some pretty interesting hybrids the 2k3/87 ones were kinda cool, if they hadn't re-used them so much...and these 2k7/87 is also pretty funny. |
